Last Liberal Gasp Monday: Hurricane Winds And A Clueless Obama

With less than 24 hours left till the final voting for the 2010 midterm elections starts, and about 36 till Democrats realize how far their house of Greek cards has fallen, liberals are in a snit, starting with MSNBC, where they realize just how bad it is going to be: Poll suggests Dems will face ‘hurricane winds’

Republicans remain on course to make substantial midterm gains across the country and to win control of at least one chamber of Congress, according to the final NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll before Tuesday’s elections.

Nearly 50 percent of likely voters prefer a GOP-controlled Congress, which is virtually unchanged from the poll taken two weeks ago; a plurality of all registered voters say it would be a “good thing” if Republicans were in charge of both the U.S. House and U.S. Senate; and almost two-thirds — including about half of Democrats — want to see a significant amount of change in the way President Barack Obama has been leading the country.

“This is a devastating set of data for the incumbent party,” says GOP pollster Bill McInturff, who conducted the survey with Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart. “It is a rebuke to the last two years.”

On Election Day, Hart adds, “The Democrats are about to feel the force of hurricane winds.”

This will be the political equivalent of mom sending you to your room with no supper, taking away the computer, TV, radio, and iPod, and grounding your for a month. Tuesday will be an epic FAIL for the Democrats, who vastly overreached in what they thought was a mandate to fundamentally give the country a far left European style makeover, and ignored the cries and please from the majority of Americans to not pass the insane legislation emanating from Washington, and instead actually focus on the economy, rather than simply mouthing platitudes, including rea-authorizing the 2001/2003 tax cuts. Someone should probably tell President Chump the reality of the situation

Will Congress extend the Bush tax cuts into 2011 in the weeks after Tuesday’s election or let the automatic increase start cutting into most people’s paychecks early next year?

It’s really pretty much up to President Barack Obama.

Despite the punishment his fellow Democrats are expected to take from voters, Obama has shown no sign of retreating from his insistence that families and small businesses with incomes above $250,000 return to higher, Bill Clinton-era tax levels starting Jan. 1.

But Obama also has dodged the question whether he would veto a bill that extends the tax cuts for everyone.

As usual, he is voting “Present.” The People want to keep those tax cuts in full, and Democrats ran away and refused to vote on even extending them for those making less than $250,000. MSNBC unintentionally lets the cat out of the bag as to what the lapsing of the tax cuts could do

[Letting them lapse] could mean about $50 less spending money each week for the household earning $50,000 and almost $90 less per week for the family making $100,000

But, in Obama’s World, that is not your money, it is the governments, to be redistributed as He sees fit, rather than you little people.

“You can argue it either way, but I think the first issue for the president will probably be restoring confidence in him amongst his base,” said pollster Andrew Kohut of the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. “On the other hand, he has to address independents, who are more inclined to want to see compromise and the branches of government working together.”

And therein lies one of Obama’s big problems: he continuously looks at how his extreme left base can be restored, rather than looking to actually be POTUS, and doing what is best for the country.

The story floats re-authorization for the tax cuts for a year or two, which would help a bit, but, not much. Reauthorize them for at least 5 years. With the expected Dem Senate losses, there will be enough Senators from both Parties who will vote for that. Let Obama veto the legislation. Do it again the following day. The legislation need not be difficult, just a simple one liner extending them in full. Let Obama keep vetoing till his approval ratings are in the single digits, and Democrats are screaming at him just sign the legislation, at which point Obama will have little to no change of re-election in 2012, and Democrats are looking at another epic loss. We’ll see if the GOP has the cajones to stick to their guns and pound away at Obama.

It’s almost kind of sad, like watching a rabid animal wander in the woods. They are drooling and frazzled and acting clueless, not even seeming to know what’s hit them. They are pointing fingers, begging for votes from their base even, and persistent in accusing Republicans of causing the mess that they and their policies over the last 4 years have clearly brought this nation.
But in actuality, these arrogant Democrats have deliberately chosen not to hear the people, and so they have this coming to them, and I hope it pains them ever so much.

Trish, I almost thought you were talking about the Republicans currently in office. Which, of course, much of what you said can stick to them as well, unfortunately.

“We’ll see if the GOP has the cajones to stick to their guns and pound away at Obama.”

This is my biggest fear. We were deceived, betrayed and let down in the 90’s. We let them know that by allowing the Dems to gain control of Congress. Am hoping this country and Republican pols have taken notice to what happens when you elect liberals.

when Reagan was POTUS the top rate was 50%, he paid that rate himself. Here is a list of the top income tax rates by year, the USA sure seemed to be doing OK when they were higher than they are now. http://www.truthandpolitics.org/top-rates.php
The “greatest generation” paid a top rate of 90%

Teach if he was pandering to his base, he would have already had DADT as a memory.
