Kerry and Our Allies

Bloviator extraordinaire John Kerry (he’s a Senator, ya know), has been working overtime to lose allies. If he is elected, will there be any left?

From Japan (courtesy Captain Ed):

The comments come a day after Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi made remarks that appeared to suggest he would prefer to see Bush win the Nov. 2 U.S. presidential election.

“I think there would be trouble if it’s not President Bush,” Liberal Democratic Party Secretary General Tsutomu Takebe told a radio program, Kyodo news agency reported.

“For instance, Mr. Kerry wants to handle the North Korean issue bilaterally, which is out of the question. We’re now in the era of multilateralism,” Takebe was quoted as saying, referring to six-way talks involving North and South Korea, Japan, the United States, China and Russia over the North’s nuclear ambitions.

And From Italy (courtesy Michael Ledeen:

All Italy is abuzzing today about a Kerry gaffe aired last night on HBO in Italy. As reported in today’s Corriere della Sera in Italy, Defense Minister Antonio Martino criticized John Kerry for an incredible remark that the conditions of the Iraqi Army were so bad that even the Italian Army could kick their a**es.

Martino remarked that Kerry, “instead of saying what he thinks, should think about what he says.”

Kerry’s international diplomacy is truly pathetic.
