The Washington Post has give Nancy Pelosi a perch to whine about….losing
McConnell and the GOP Senate are accomplices to Trump’s wrongdoing
For more than 200 years, our republic has endured, not only because of the wisdom of our Founders and the brilliance of our Constitution, but because of the generations of patriotic Americans who have had the courage to risk their lives to defend it.
But, tragically, the American people have watched President Trump and Republicans in Congress dismantle the Constitution that we cherish.
The House impeachment managers, led by Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.), presented to the Senate and the public an incontrovertible truth that the president himself has admitted: President Trump abused the power of his office to pressure a foreign power to help him cheat in an American election. And when he was caught, the president launched an unprecedented coverup to block Congress from holding him accountable. The president’s actions undermined our national security, jeopardized the integrity of our elections and violated the Constitution.
She whines along this long for quite some time, but, let’s face it: if the House Democrats led by Pelosi had a case, Trump would have been booted out. They didn’t. Their case was so weak that they wanted to call lots and lots of new witnesses. Their case was so weak they even forgot to vote on a formal impeachment investigation, which meant they couldn’t have legal subpoenas. Their case was so weak that they had to bang the table
*CRUZ MISSILE*
“If you have the facts, you bang the facts. If you have the law, you bang the law. If you don’t have either, you bang the table. Today, we’ve seen a whole lot of table banging…” @tedcruz https://t.co/M8woN2XWbs— Sean Hannity ???????? (@seanhannity) January 22, 2020
The People’s House will continue to defend democracy for the American people. We will uphold and protect the checks and balances enshrined in the Constitution, both in the courts of law and in the court of public opinion to preserve our republic “if we can keep it,†to quote Benjamin Franklin.
And we will always insist on this truth: that, in America, no one is above the law.
I like how she yammers about democracy then drops a quote about our republic. Anyhow, this looks like the Democrats won’t be giving up their Trump Derangement Syndrome anytime soon, and Trump will be thanking them when he is re-elected.
Let’s see, the climate cultists have already proclaimed future doom for coffee, beer, wine, chocolate, lobster, fish, tequila, scotch, avocados, and so much more. This one is aimed at convincing kids that we’re Dooooooomed
Climate change is coming for your Oreos
The latest victims of climate change could be Oreos, as drenched fields across the U.S. make the wheat that’s a key ingredient a scarcer commodity.
Winter-wheat plantings fell to their lowest levels in more than a century as the grain got harder to seed. That was especially true for soft red winter wheat, with sowings in critical states like Illinois slumping 25%.
That might be bad news for snack fans—the variety is used in the flour that forms the base for crackers, biscuits and beloved goodies including Mondelez International Inc.’s Oreos and Kellogg Co.’s Cheez-Its.
The warming atmosphere is making the spring planting season a lot wetter and a lot muddier in the Midwest. Last year, things were so bad that record rains meant plantings were done at the slowest pace ever. That’s pressuring farmers to abandon a strategy known as double-cropping—when the same fields get sown in the spring with soybeans and then in the fall with wheat. Forced to choose just one, growers are giving up on wheat.
None of that is proof of anthropogenic causation, just that warm periods happen. The whole “let them eat cake” thing started with wheat shortages in France during the Little Ice Age. You also had the elites trying to get people to eat potatoes, which were considered a vegetable that even the poor wouldn’t eat, and they were starving. The climate always changes, and is always going to cause issues.
President Trump has had a very good week, so good that even CNN’s Chris Cillizza noted the eight very good things. Those include acquittal from the Democrats made up impeachment theater, the State of the Union speech, Democrat disarray in Iowa, a 49% job approval rating, and a few others, including
Trump Beats Congressional Democrats’ Emoluments Lawsuit
Donald Trump beat back a lawsuit by 215 congressional Democrats who say he has been violating the Constitution’s emoluments clause by profiting from foreign government spending at his Washington hotel and other properties, capping a triumphant week for the president.
A 3-0 federal appeals court in Washington on Friday said the House and Senate members lack legal standing to sue the president because they had not been injured by his alleged conduct. None of the judges was appointed to the court by Trump.
The ruling is the latest victory for Trump, who was acquitted in the Senate Wednesday on articles of impeachment brought by the Democratic-controlled House and found his opposition in disarray following their botched Iowa Caucus.
Trump addressed the ruling as he departed the White House for a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina. “It’s another phony case and we won it three to nothing,†the president said.
Of course, Democrats most likely won’t give up, because they’re bat guano insane
The court left open the possibility that a congressional lawsuit might be able to move forward if a majority of either house authorized it. House Democrats are still reviewing the ruling and have yet to decide whether to hold a vote on a new suit, according to a senior aide. Nevada Democrat Dina Titus, one of the House members who participated in the dismissed suit, on Friday tweeted her support for such action.
They don’t know how to lose gracefully. They’d be best off not even starting. Their Trump Derangement Syndrome is too strong, though, to let them see clearly.

I told you about the Trump admin suspending several identification programs due to the state of New York’s illegal alien driver’s license policies. This has, as expected, driven Democrats nuttier
In suspending Global Entry, a spiteful Trump makes us all less safe
Ninety seconds. That’s my record for getting through border controls at John F. Kennedy International Airport, armed with my Global Entry card. Customs took an additional two minutes (Global Entry card holders have their own line). This streamlined processing by the Trusted Traveler program allowed me to plan same-day business, rather than spend hours in line.
The Trump administration’s suspension of Global Entry, NEXUS and other Trusted Traveler programs for residents of New York state, announced Wednesday by Chad Wolf, the acting secretary of Homeland Security, will change all that. According to Wolf, new enrollments and re-enrollments for the service that costs $100 every five years are no longer possible, although current card holders can in theory continue to participate in the program until their special status expires.
While the official reason Wolf gave for the move was national security, in reality an authoritarian cocktail of spite, corruption and racism drives this decision — one that will make America less secure and less efficient.

I love how all these unhinged fools like throwing around terms like authoritarian. If he was, Ruth Ben-Ghiat wouldn’t be able to write this screed.
Every autocrat has an obsession, and one of President Donald Trump’s is targeting immigrants as part of a crusade to rally his base and keep America a majority-white and Christian territory. His Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is targeting New York state because of its Green Light Law that allows undocumented immigrants to obtain drivers’ licenses and forbids government officials from turning over Department of Motor Vehicles records to federal officials.
Here’s an idea: don’t give driver’s licenses to illegal aliens, especially in the manner New York is engaged in.
Revoking Global Entry has less to do with security than with the latest retaliation by Trump against a state that contains New York City, a place he felt has never really accepted him. More precisely, the New York City area, home to two busy international airports, Newark and JFK, is now a sanctuary for immigrants — and to a state attorney general’s office that under Barbara Underwood and now Letitia James has investigated him for alleged corruption and forced him to dissolve his Trump Foundation for what Underwood said was a “shocking pattern” of illegal behaviors.
What does Trump really want to obtain with this power play? As always with authoritarians, the people and businesses that will lose time needlessly are just his pawns. His real targets are New York City and state politicians who have defied him: he hopes to make them unpopular and put pressure on them to renounce sanctuary cities, investigations and other measures that stand in the way of his personal and ideological goals. His further targets are other cities — and whole states, such as California — whose leaders must now be wondering: Are we next? And if so, what will the retaliation look like?
Here’s an idea: don’t want none, don’t start none. All sorts of elected officials in the state of NY have been going after Trump since the moment he was elected. Welcome to Politics 101. Remember, these same people whining now had zero problem with the IRS under Obama targeting private citizens and groups. At least Trump is targeting politicians and government employees.
Perhaps Democrats shouldn’t protect illegal aliens. And they’re lucky the Trump admin isn’t charging them with crimes, including felonies.

They all walked or biked from around the state to Portland, rather than taking a fossil fueled vehicle, right?
Youth From Across Oregon Declare A Climate Emergency
Youth from around the state declared at a Portland rally Thursday that Oregon is in the midst of a climate emergency. They called on government leaders to take action now and create policies that address climate change.
This comes as state legislators gather in Salem to consider a proposal aimed at reducing and regulating greenhouse gas emissions.
Last June, Oregon Senate Republicans walked out and prevented a vote that would have put a cap on carbon emissions and charged polluters for their greenhouse gas emissions. A similar bill has been put forth this short session.
Nearly three dozen youth and environmental activists gathered in the latest in a series of Portland rallies over the past year to say enough is enough. Students from around the state took turns addressing the gathering and sharing their concerns about climate change and how it is affecting their communities. Several also described their ideas for curbing greenhouse gas emissions.
It’s interesting that they always want to force their Beliefs on Other People
DeZurney, 21, is a student at Willamette University. She called on government leaders for a transition from carbon-emitting energy like coal and natural gas to carbon-free energy. The burning of carbon-based fuel is the biggest contribution humans are making to climate change.
DeZurney said that could be done by building energy efficient homes and buildings, creating well-paying jobs for people who work in construction, engineering, and electricity. DeZurney also criticized polluting industries by saying they stop progress by instilling fear into the public who want to take climate action. She said the pollution industries tell the public they will lose their jobs or say renewable energy costs too much money.
Again, here’s an idea

“I raise my voice because I can’t vote for three more years and time is running out. Scientists gave us ten years to make significant changes to reduce climate pollution,†Newport High School student Maia Stout, 15, said. “An Oregon student in second grade today will just be graduating high school when their climate fate is sealed.â€
OK, when are you changing your own life, Maia? And getting all your climate cultist friends to do the same? “It is all too easy to request others to do things that carry no personal cost to yourself.â€

The Wuhan Coronavirus, Climate Change, and Future Epidemics
A previously unknown strain of coronavirus has dominated headlines in recent weeks, and alarmed public health officials with its rapid spread and virulent nature. But it’s really no surprise to the scientists who study infectious disease: it’s just one of several pathogens that have the potential to reach calamitous status.
I have no evidence that climate change triggered this particular virus to jump from animals to humans at this particular time, or that a warmer planet has helped it spread. That said, it’s pretty clear that, broadly speaking, climate change is likely to lead to an uptick in future epidemics caused by viruses and other pathogens. Scientists have understood for decades that climate change would change the way diseases spread, but, as the planet warms, those hypotheses are being tested and scientists are learning in real time. There are many links between climate change and infectious diseases, but I’m going to focus on one particularly novel—and concerning—area of knowledge: how rising temperatures are making our natural immune systems less effective.

Seriously, everything after the first sentence of the 2nd paragraph is worthless, and the fable keeps going on and on and on. I’m thinking that people eating exotic meats with few safety standards could be a really bad thing
Scientists in China say the pangolin, a type of scaly anteater, could be a possible host for the coronavirus that has killed over 636 people and infected nearly 31,400 globally, according to a report by Reuters on Friday.
Reuters reported the genome sequence of the coronavirus strain taken from pangolins in the study was 99 percent identical to infected people, according to China’s official Xinhua news agency.
Guess we can go back to eating bat now.

Have you heard of the New Way Forward Act? No? Usually, Democrats like to talk a lot about their proposed legislation. Their buddies in the Credentialed Media talk it up as the best thing ever. Strange that this one has been MIA
At this moment there is a bill pending in Congress called the New Way Forward Act. It’s received almost no publicity, which is unfortunate as well as revealing.
The legislation is sponsored by 44 House Democrats, including Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York. At roughly 4,400 words, it’s almost exactly as long as the U.S. Constitution.
Like the Constitution, this legislation is designed to create a whole new country. The bill would entirely remake our immigration system, with the explicit purpose of ensuring that criminals are able to move here, and settle here permanently, with impunity.
You may think we’re exaggerating for effect. We’re not – not even a little.
The New Way Forward act is the most radical single piece of legislation we’ve seen proposed in this country. It makes the Green New Deal look like the status quo.
A document produced by Democrats to promote the bill says: “Convictions … should not lead to deportation.â€
Keep in mind, we’re not talking about convictions for double parking. The bill targets felony convictions – serious crimes that send you to prison for years. A press release from Rep., Jesus Garcia, D-Ill., is explicit about this.
Garcia brags that the bill will break the “prison to deportation pipeline.†How does the bill do that? Under current U.S. law, legal U.S. immigrants can be deported if they commit an “aggravated felony†or a “crime of moral turpitude†– that is, a vile, depraved act, like molesting a child. Under the New Way Forward Act, “crimes of moral turpitude†are eliminated entirely as a justification for deportation. And the category of “aggravated felony†gets circumscribed too.
I’ve gone and read the act. Tucker is not exaggerating.
To detain illegal immigrants, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would have to prove in court that the illegal immigrants are dangerous or a flight risk. But of course, ICE wouldn’t be allowed to use a detainee’s prior criminal behavior as proof he or she is dangerous. That’s banned.
ICE would have to overcome even more hurdles if the detainee claims to be gay or transgender, under 21, or can’t speak English and an interpreter isn’t immediately available.
In other words, it would be much harder to arrest an illegal alien than it is to arrest you. They’re the protected class here. You’re just some loser who’s paying for it all.
But, wait, there’s more (actually, you should read the whole article, because I’m only excerpting)
But believe it or not, we saved the nuttiest part for last. What could be more destructive than changing U.S. law, specifically to allow rapists, child molesters, and drug dealers to stay in America? How about this: Using taxpayer money to bring deported criminals back into America.
That’s right. This bill would not only abolish your right to control who lives in your own country, but it invents a new right in return: the “right to come home.â€
There’s zero chance this passes the GOP controlled Senate, much less makes it to the President’s desk. And, with something this radical, House Democrats will most likely hold off to wait and see if they take the White House and the Senate. It’s just another big, big reason to make sure Trump is re-elected and the GOP keeps the Senate.

California lawmaker introduces bill making voting mandatory
If a California lawmaker has his way, registered voters in the state will be required to participate in every election.
On Tuesday, Assemblyman Marc Levine (D) introduced Assembly Bill 2070, making voting mandatory. “Democracy is not a spectator sport — it requires the active participation of all its citizens,” Levine said in a statement. “California is a national leader on expanding voting rights to its citizens. Those rights come with a responsibility by registered voters to cast their ballot and make sure that their voice is heard by their government.”
Under the measure, which isn’t expected to be considered until the spring, the secretary of state would determine the penalty for not voting. This is an unprecedented bill, and should it go into law, it would likely be challenged in court, the Los Angeles Times says.
It most likely will never even get a vote in the California General Assembly, much less pass, but, this is California, so, never say never. That LA Times article notes
Levine’s effort, Assembly Bill 2070, would require every Californian who registers to vote to “cast a ballot, marked or unmarked in whole or in part, at every election held within the territory within which the person resides.†AB 2070 has yet to be referred to a policy committee and is unlikely to be considered until the spring.
So, would this cause a lot of people to refuse to register, because the only way to fine people for not voting is for The Government to be completely in your business and tracking everyone, getting a report of who voted, and, really, whom and what they voted for. Could this lead to abuse by officials of the state, with people voting The Wrong Way being targeted?
Criminalize a Constitutional right and your freedom of choice. Seems to be the liberal way.
