I guess 50 and 100 years out is not good enough, now they have really push the envelope
Together, the team performed the first full climate model simulation to make predictions on the effects of climate change 1,000 years from now.
One scenario simulated the outcome of current emission levels continuing until 2100, which then completely stop.
They found that current carbon dioxide levels will cause unstoppable effects to the climate for at least the next 1,000 years, which could cause an eventual rise of at least four metres in the global sea level by the year 3000, as well as the collapse of the West Antarctic ice sheet — an area the size of Canada’s prairies.
Say, I have an idea: how about making some predictions for this year, guys? Certainly your super duper computer models (snicker), which can make predictions that far out, can tell us what the climate will do this year, right?
On the flip side, the article does start with saying we will adapt, and ends with
“We have time,” he said. “But the sooner we start reducing our emissions, the less we’ll fundamentally change the planet. I can’t really imagine the world in 2100 or 2200, but we shouldn’t pretend there’s not going to be a big disruption. But it’s not the end of the world either, it’s just going to be completely different looking.”
Sssshhhhhh, don’t tell the other alarmist, as then they won’t have a reason to be concerned raise money.
