    With a great backyard like that, I figure there has to be a stream off to the left, ergo, gotta be turtles. Plus, how can one have a golden retriever without a turtle in the picture?

    The stream is two houses away at the end of the cul de sac. The shaggy green stuff sort of classic coastal N. Calif. I actually do have box turtle of the eastern variety but she lives in the house.
    In the other picture there’s a log and under there are lots of “red dog” or “mud dog” salamanders. Wood pile around the side of the house has ring snakes (olive green, orange ring around their necks) and garter snakes. Lots of mice and becauce my neighbor grows ivy, rats as well. Cats kill ’em tho. I’m a half hour from the coast, so get cooler weather in the summer. Onshore breeze hits about 4pm so even on hot days its 70 deg by night fall. Good place to live.
