Dem Julian Castro Really Wants Amnesty Done

So, Julian Castro is a very far left Democrat who has worked for the racist Hispanic group La Raza United, which his mother helped found. Said group wants parts of the Southwest split off to be an exclusionary nation. And now he writes

(Politico) Members of Congress have returned to our nation’s capital after a two-week break for the Easter holiday. And now that they’re all back, they should immediately address one of the most pressing issues facing our country: the need for responsible and comprehensive immigration reform.

As the grandson of an immigrant orphan from Mexico who found opportunity in this great country, and as mayor of our nation’s seventh-largest city – a community that looks like the Texas and America of tomorrow – I’m constantly reminded that immigration is more than a political issue. It’s who we are. (Snip)

To fix our broken immigration system in a responsible way, we must do at least three things. We need to further strengthen border security, we need to streamline the legal immigration process so law-abiding companies can get the workers they need in today’s global economy, and we need to create a path to citizenship to bring the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in this country out of the shadows and into the full light of the American Dream.

In other words, amnesty for people who laugh at the laws of the United States and come here illegally. And those elected officials who likewise ignore The Law.

But, hey, I actually know of a way that these illegals could become legal US residents: they could go back to wherever the hell they came from and then apply for work visas or citizenship. And they can take this racist mayor with them.

The only thing that’s broken is the politics, where the law is ignored.

Oh Oh: There’s A War On Women In Obama’s “Green” Economy

While they do get paid a bit more in the “green” economy, a much lower percentage are working in the “green” economy. Supposedly, there are 3.4 million “green” jobs (school bus drivers, scrap metal workers, employee at a bike shop, and, yes, even an oil industry lobbyist) out there, but….

(Climate Progress) ….the green sector offers new opportunities for good-paying jobs across the U.S. and raises the question: Are women benefitting from the transition to a green economy as much as men?

A new study suggests not, finding that women hold just three out of ten green jobs in the U.S. and are making less than men in the green sector. In the report “Quality Employment for Women in the Green Economy,” the Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR) provides estimates of the number of green jobs held by women within each state, industry and occupation using data gathered from surveys (BLS Green Goods and Services Survey and U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey 2008-2010), state reports and a 2011 report on green jobs (Brookings study). Several of the key findings from the report include:

  • Women are underrepresented in the green economy, holding just 29.5 percent of green jobs compared to 48 percent of the total U.S. workforce
  • The distribution of jobs in the green economy is more concentrated in industries that typically employ more men than women, including manufacturing, construction, transportation, warehousing and utilities
  • Women’s share of green jobs is expected to stay low since the occupations that are projected to see the most growth are traditionally held by men (heating and air conditioning technicians, carpenters and electricians)

Their incomes are a bit higher and the income gap is smaller in the “green” sector versus the private sector, but, overall, the “green” economy is inherently sexist. Good job, Obama!

I should probably stop there, but, there is a lot of interesting information in that Brooking study. For one thing, the “clean economy”, as they term it, only has 2.7 million workers, not the 3.4 million that has been cited for years (one would think that number might grow at some point). One of the top sectors is “regulation and compliance” (141,890 jobs). They are terming “public transportation” as a “clean job”, even though a good chunk relies on fossil fuels. We also learn that all these types of jobs were created initially under Bush 41, Bill Clinton, and Bush 43. None for Obama.

And, once again, let me point out that there is nothing wrong with “clean” jobs and the “green” economy. We should look to being more environmentally friendly (not talking about CO2, but, we could do with reducing Methane and a few other greenhouse gases that are much more potent than CO2). Look towards eventually replacing oil, both for fuel and lubrication, with products that work (unlike using corn for fuel). Less land, sea, and air pollution (again, not talking about CO2). My problem with the way Obama does it is that he uses taxpayer money to reward campaign contributors and push certain programs, regardless of whether they have any chance of succeeding, plus the way he pushes it for “climate change”. He had a chance to really push it and get both sides involved, but, he had to get hyper-political, as usual.

Oh, and I blame Obama for the green economy being sexist.

Warmist Links Capitalism And Hotcoldwetdry

Is anyone surprised that a Warmists dislikes capitalism (for others, of course. They want money and stuff for themselves). In the Grist article, entitled How capitalism stacks the deck on disaster, New Climate Denier Steve Fraser tells us all about the Evils of Wall Street, the insurance industry, and capitalism while discussing Superstorm Sandy and other natural disasters (which, of course, he says aren’t natural). It’s full of typical Warmist/Progressive complaints, blaming fossil fuels while avoiding blaming all the Warmists who buy fossil fueled vehicles, lots and lots of ginned up racism, class envy, etc, and ends thusly

More Sandys are surely headed our way, more climate-driven disasters of all sorts than we can now fully imagine. And rest assured, they will be no more “natural” than the Chicago fire, the Johnstown flood, or the San Francisco earthquake. More than fire itself what we need to deal with now is the power of the finance, insurance, and real estate — or FIRE — sector whose leading corporations now effectively run our economy. Without doing that, the “nature” these interests have helped create will punish us all while providing a ghoulish boondoggle for a few.

So, we apparently need to Do Something about these industries, probably something like nationalizing them. Strange that the author forgot to tell us what we are Supposed To Do, surely because these far left Progressives don’t like to usually give away what their true goals are.

Leftist: Kids Belong To The State

Just another in a long line of things Progressives want to take away from people (via Doug Ross)

(Newsbusters) Narrating a new MSNBC “Lean Forward” spot, the Tulane professor laments that we in America “haven’t had a very collective notion that these are our children … [W]e have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to their communities,” Harris-Perry argued.

“Once it’s everybody’s responsibility and not just the households, then we start making better investments.” By “investments,” of course, Harris-Perry means things like spending “as much in public education as we should have.”

Of course, if as Harris-Perry holds,”[t]he cost to raise a child [is] $10,000 a year up to $20,000 a year,” and if children should be viewed as collectively “owned” by “society,” then taken to its logical extension, a woman’s choices about having a child should be informed by the economic considerations of the “community”

What’s more, the notion of collective responsibility for children was a philosophy that undergirded the Cultural Revolution in Communist China under Chairman Mao. I bring that up because, as you may recall, another Harris-Perry “Lean Forward” spot contains a reference to a “great leap forward,” which calls to mind the disastrous agricultural reform plan which starved millions of Chinese to death in the 1950s.

Doug writes that this “Melissa Harris-Perry articulates one of the more ironic and bizarre messages ever uttered by a woman of color.” I disagree: this is surely something that so many Lefties think. The only thing bizarre is that she would actually articulate it, because Progressives usually do not want their intentions known. Remember the whole Maxine Waters saying she wanted to nationalize the oil industry, and how she worked so hard to put that into non-fascistic words after she inadvertently gave the game away?

Hooray! Warmists Says Warming No Longer Requires Noticable Warming

I wrote this Tweet the other day (dropped an “it” at the beginning. Sue me)

Seems relevant (via Steven Goddard)

(WKZO) Climate change could get worse quickly if huge amounts of extra heat absorbed by the oceans are released back into the air, scientists said after unveiling new research showing that oceans have helped mitigate the effects of warming since 2000.

Heat-trapping gases are being emitted into the atmosphere faster than ever, and the 10 hottest years since records began have all taken place since 1998. But the rate at which the earth’s surface is heating up has slowed somewhat since 2000, causing scientists to search for an explanation for the pause.

What they’re looking for is a way to keep the cult going, along with the money train. They aren’t interested in scientific explanations based on, you know, science. Here they’re attempting to blame the oceans, a natural process, for all the missing warmth, and don’t you dare ask them any questions on how it all works nor why the whole cycle couldn’t be natural to start with.

“Global warming is continuing but it’s being manifested in somewhat different ways,” said Kevin Trenberth, of the U.S. National Center for Atmospheric Research. Warming can go, for instance, to the air, water, land or to melting ice and snow.

Warmth is spreading to ever deeper ocean levels, he said, adding that pauses in surface warming could last 15-20 years.

In other words, global warming is cold and snow and ice. It’s a continued release of CO2 and a 15+ year pause in warming. Of course, yes, they blame Mankind, because 4.5 billion years of climatic changes, the Sun, natural variation, all those should be discounted to keep the Cult Of Gore going.

700 Retired Spec Ops Ask House To Do Full Investigation Into Benghazi

Unsurprisingly, most of the legacy media have ignored this. Now, if it was 2 people complaining about a mildly religious piece of art in a school, it would be huge news

(Breitbart) Seven hundred retired Military Special Operations professionals from the organization “Special Operations Speaks” sent a letter to the House of Representatives urging members to support H.Res 36, which will create a House Select Committee to investigate last September’s deadly terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya.

“It appears that many of the facts and details surrounding the terrorist attack which resulted in four American deaths and an undetermined number of American casualties have not yet been ascertained by previous hearings and inquiries,” the letter states. It continues further, “Additional information is now slowly surfacing in the media, which makes a comprehensive bipartisan inquiry an imperative. Many questions have not been answered thus far.” The letter puts forth over twenty unanswered questions the select committee should address.

Congressman Frank Wolf (R-VA), a sub-committee chairman on the House Appropriations Committee, issued a resolution for a House Select Committee to investigate issues surrounding the Benghazi Attack last November in the 112th Congress. He re-issued his resolution for the select committee when the 113th Congress began. The resolution currently has over 60 co–sponsors.

What they want is an open hearing where the American People are provided with the information as to what happened, instead of all these closed doors hearings. They have a a bunch of questions they want answered, including

  • Why was there no military response to the events in Benghazi?
  • Were assets deployed to any location in preparation for a rescue or recovery attempt?
  • What, if any, non-military assistance was provided during the attack?
  • How many US personnel were injured in Benghazi?
  • Why have the survivors of the attack not been questioned?
  • Who was in the White House Situation Room (WHSR) during the entire 8-hour period of the attacks, and was a senior US military officer present?
  • Who gave the order to “STAND DOWN” that was heard repeatedly during the attacks?
  • Why did the Commander-in Chief and Secretary of State never once check in during the night to find out the status of the crisis situation in Benghazi?
  • What was the nature of Ambassador Stevens’ business in Benghazi at the time of the attack?

Of course, Democrats and their unhinged base aren’t interested in any investigation, because, in their minds, the deaths of 4 Americans means nothing, at least in terms of protecting Mr. Obama and Hillary Clinton.

The full letter is here, and there is a petition you can sign, as well.

Watcha Reading?

Since last Sunday I’ve finished The Last Roman (The Praetorian Series: Book I) by Edward Crichton as well as the 2nd in the series, To Crown a Caesar (The Praetorian Series: Book II). Eagerly awaiting book 3, which is not due till near the end of 2013. Sigh.

At time of writing this post, I’m not quite sure what I’m going to read. I have a couple downloaded to the Kindle, a few zombie books (1 free, one sample) and a book called Engulfed, which I just started this morning, seems a bit woman-centric. I’ll give it a chapter or so before deciding. I had started Progeny, but I just couldn’t get into it after about 20 pages.

BTW, there are a bunch of others I’d like to read, but I refuse to pay $13+ for them. Guess I’ll have to go to the library and read paper one day. Nice thing about Kindle is being able to sync it with my Droid phone, so I can read on it, too.

Warmist Offers 10 Dreadful Effects Of Hotcoldwetdry

Yet another New Climate Denier positions that you, dear reader, are killing Gaia by refusing to give up your modern life

Top Ten Dreadful Effects of Climate Change

Minus One Not Dreadful Effect

Can you guess what the not dreadful effect will be?

  • Number 10: The End of Alpine Skiing
  • Number 9: Glacial Lake Outbursts Floods Destroy Villages and Towns
  • Number 8: Desertification of the World’s Arable Land
  • Number 7: Embedded Droughts
  • Number 6: Unprecedented Damage to Infrastructure
  • Number 5: The Splintering of Nation-States
  • Number 4: The Demise of Capitalism
  • Number 3: Marine Life Extinction
  • Number 2: Loss of World’s Glacial Water Towers
  • Number 1: Flooding of Coastal Cities and Island Nations

Unsurprisingly, the demise of capitalism is the “not dreadful effect”. “Climate change” is simply another movement by the far left to institute progressiveism, otherwise known as “nice fascism”. Of course, the author missed that there has been no statistically significant warming in over 15 years, and, really, since 1990 the world temperature has gone up a miniscule .28F. Not exactly world dooming, eh, which is why the NCDs rarely discuss the actual observed data, but scary crap like the above.
