Harry Reid: We Need More Money To Keep Obamacare From Becoming A Train Wreck

Sorry, Harry, Obamacare was a train wreck even before it was passed, and no one has bothered to close the track since

(The Hill) Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) says he shares colleagues’ concerns that the Affordable Care Act could become a “train wreck” if it’s not implemented properly.

Reid warned that people will not be able to choose health insurance plans on government health exchanges if federal authorities lack the resources to set them up and educate the public.

“Max said unless we implement this properly it’s going to be a train wreck and I agree with him,” Reid said, echoing a warning delivered last month by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.).

Reid warned the federal government is not spending enough money to implement the law because of Republican opposition to ObamaCare.

And there you go: it’s the Republicans fault. It couldn’t possibly that HHS run by a Democrat is incompetent. It couldn’t be that no one who voted in the affirmative for the bill read it. It couldn’t be that a 2,000+ page was so devoid of actual details, being more of a rough outline, that it has generate over 16,000 pages of new rule and regulations, and their still not done. It couldn’t be that they never thought that States not run by Democrats would say “no thank you, we aren’t setting up YOUR exchanges, do it yourself”. It couldn’t be that the idiots who voted for Obamacare lied out their posteriors in regards to the costs. On reflection, Republicans should take the credit for doing all they can to stop the implementation of Ocare.

“I believe that a country of our size, the only superpower left in the world — it’s not right that we have 50-60 million people … with no health insurance,” he said. “We have to have a program where health insurance shouldn’t go to people who are rich, people who are upper-middle class. I believe the middle class and people below the middle class deserve to go to the hospital when they’re sick.”

So now it’s 50-60 million? Is that a typical Democrat exaggeration, or is he looking at all the people who have lost insurance because of the terrible economic conditions and jobs losses due to Obama/Democrat policies along with all the people who’ve lost insurance due to Obamacare?

Anyhow, we’ve gone from the law supposedly costing $900 billion over ten years (yet supposedly being revenue neutral) to costing around $2.5 trillion over ten years. And it hasn’t even be implemented yet. The rules haven’t all been written. The people who sit on the death panel, er, Independent Payment Advisory Board, haven’t even been nominated yet. And the more we know about Ocare the more we hate it. The taxes, many of which will affect low and middle class Americans. There are so many issues it’s hard to list them all.

Yet Harry Reid wants more money, mostly because of the piss poor way Democrats have worked to implement it and because they didn’t appropriate enough to start with.

What Is “Climate Change”?

Steven Goddard offers up a nice concise idea

Global warming was a tough one for Obama and the rest of his band of witch burners, because it involved actual metrics – which didn’t pan out.

So they changed their meme to “climate change” which has no metrics, no definition, no theoretical basis, no boundaries, no way to prove or disprove – and they can blame every weather event on it.

And they do blame every weather event on it, hence the reason I call it hotcoldwetdry. They also blame earthquakes and volcanoes on it. Whatever happens, climate change always seems to be in the mix. And when they say “climate change” they mean Mankind is causing it. And virtually everything mankind does causes it, in their warped minds. Except for things they like (even when they are bad for the environment itself, such as producing palm oil for biofuels, making solar panels, and others), and the things they like always seem to revolve around increasing government and instituting far left doctrine.

“Climate Change Is Not An Environmental Problem”

Over at Grist, David Roberts is pimping a video with the headline “Why climate change is not an environmental problem: The video“. I made the mistake of watching this long discourse which ignores actual science, but, then, ‘climate change’ isn’t about science, it’s about pushing for far left political control.

Here’s what Tom Nelson saw

Video promoted by Grist: “Climate change is arguably the biggest threat modern society has ever faced, with the possible exception of nuclear war…at the very least, it’s bigger than communism, bigger than Al-Qaeda, bigger than fascism, bigger than all of them combined”

As he points out, the money quotes start at the 1:15 mark. And what you get is lots of profanity, some Blame Bush, and really, an overall sense that this issue has nothing to do with the environment. Which it doesn’t. That’s how we can end up with “science” like the Bermuda Triangle Defense, regarding the “missing heat” being in the deep oceans

“Where’s the heat? In the oceans!” USA Today claimed in a headline the same day.

The headlines reflect a prominent global warming activist claiming that he developed a computer model by which global warming can bypass the atmosphere, bypass the upper ocean, and be entirely hidden in the deep ocean; you know, that part of our planet where we really can’t measure or find anything. The missing global warming is apparently hanging out at the underwater space alien base in the heart of the Bermuda Triangle, along with the missing files proving the 9/11 Truthers are right that George W. Bush bombed the World Trade Center, along with the Vast Rightwing Conspiracy files proving that Bill Clinton really did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky, and along with the missing film footage proving the seven Apollo astronauts and two Johnson Space Center directors who claim global warming is not a crisis really did stage their moon landings on a vacant lot somewhere in the Arizona desert.

The global warming activists, of course, do their best to make their Bermuda Triangle defense sound scientific. The paper claims all this phantom global warming really can directly bypass the atmosphere and the upper ocean if winds start blowing strangely enough and strongly enough to bury the warming deep in the ocean. Thankfully, we can spare ourselves the dizzying asserted logic of such claims by examining recent global sea surface wind data. As Bermuda Triangle-busting science would have it, NASA satellite instruments show global sea surface wind speeds have declined rather than increased during the past decade.

Warmists will do and say anything to protect their cult of Gore, because the endgame is Progressivism, far left control of governments and people, not science or the environment.

Big Meanie Conservative Threatens Woman On Facebook

This is it. I renounce my Conservative Card. I’m so tired of Conservatives being the kind of people who would do this

(The Blaze) According to Wyoming’s Star-Tribune, on the non-university affiliated Facebook page UW Crushes, which has since been shut down, a post appeared last week that read:

“I want to hatef— Meg Lanker- so hard,” the Facebook post said. “That chick that runs her liberal mouth all the time and doesn’t care who knows it. I think its hot and it makes me angry. One night with me and shes gonna be a good Republican b—-.”

This controversial post Meg Lanker-Simons reported the post to university administrators and campus police, telling the Laramie Boomerang that as a rape survivor this is “one of the worst things someone can threaten.”

I mean, really, what the hell is the matter with you conservatives? The guy is probably a TEA Party member to boot…..um, oh, uh, wait

On Tuesday, though, it was revealed by University of Wyoming Police Department that they had cited Lanker-Simons herself for the threatening post. In a separate article, the Laramie Boomerang reported police obtained a warrant to search the student’s computer and found substantial evidence verifying that the offending Facebook post came from Lanker-Simons’ computer, while the computer was in her possession.”

That’s right, folks, another case of a Progressive ginning up an issue to make Conservatives look bad. So, obviously the University is going to hold sit ins decrying liberals intentionally creating false accusations designed to denigrate conservatives, right? They’ll hold teach ins regarding tolerance toward Conservatives and to not do things like Lanker-Simons did, right? Um, no

Regardless, the university has said that either way the issue has dredged up an important lesson, which is that UW has zero tolerance for violence of any kind.

“The fact that the Facebook post apparently was a fabrication does not change the necessity for continued vigilance in reassuring that we have a campus where everyone feels safe,” UW spokesman Chad Baldwin said in a statement. ”It’s important that this event does not undermine the progress that has been made in this area.”

As one Blaze commenter writes “It is not Reality that counts…it’s the seriousness of the charges.”

Saudi Arabia Warned US About Tamerlan Tsarnaev

As Obama is defending those responsible for keeping the US as safe as they can from terrorists, his pleas seem rather weak in the face of more information, in the form of an exclusive from the UK Daily Mail…..isn’t it funny that we have to get so much of our information on these types of issue, namely, ones that make Obama look bad, from news outlets outside the US?

EXCLUSIVE: Saudi Arabia ‘warned the United States IN WRITING about Boston Bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev in 2012’

  • Saudis developed intelligence separately from Russia, which also warned the U.S. about the accused Boston bomber
  • A letter to the Department of Homeland Security allegedly named Tsarnaev and three Pakistanis as potential jihadis worthy of U.S. investigation
  • Red flags from Saudi Arabia to have included Tsarnaev’s name and information about a planned explosive attack on a major U.S. city
  • Saudi foreign minister, national security chief both met with Obama in the oval office in early 2013

The Saudi’s refused Tamerlan entry into Saudi Arabia in 2011, when he wanted to take a trip to Mecca

The Saudis’ warning to the U.S. government was also shared with the British government. ‘It was very specific’ and warned that ‘something was going to happen in a major U.S. city,’ the Saudi official said during an extensive interview.

It ‘did name Tamerlan specifically,’ he added. The ‘government-to-government’ letter, which he said was sent to the Department of Homeland Security at the highest level, did not name Boston or suggest a date for his planned attack.

So why was nothing done? Why was the information ignored? DHS is now in cover your ass mode, as is the White House, claiming they never saw the letter. Yet another DHS official, under the veil of anonymity, claims they, or at least DHS, did see the letter.

(Ace Of Spades) Regardless, this is now out there. One wonders, what exactly, it would take at this point for our media to actually fall back in love with the once celebrated exercise of truth-gathering and shoe leather reporting. Yet again, this comes from the foreign press.

This story is almost nowhere to be found in the American press. As more information comes out showing the failures of the Obama administration, we can surely expect the US media to bury this story, much like with Fast and Furious and Benghazi.

Gun Grabbers Attempt Emotional Assault Against Senator Ayotte

The “pro-gun control” folks, meaning anti-2nd Amendment/pro-gun grabber/people control crowd, aren’t able to win the argument using facts, figures, and adult discourse, so they’ve resorted to what they do best: emotional pleas, and they’ve decided to target Senator Kelly Ayotte, which, to use liberal terminology, rather misogynistic

(Politico) Sen. Kelly Ayotte voted against a bill to expand background checks for purchasers of firearms, and Erica Lafferty, the daughter of the slain principal from Sandy Hook Elementary School, wanted to know why.

Lafferty got her chance at a town hall meeting Tuesday.

“You had mentioned that the burden to owners of gun stores that these expanded background checks would cause,” the 27-year-old Lafferty said. “I’m just wondering why the burden of my mother being gunned down in the hall of her elementary school isn’t as important as that?”

While we are all sorry as to what happened, the true fact is that the background checks bill that failed in the Senate would not have stopped Adam Lanza. Connecticut has one some of the toughest gun control laws in the country yet they still failed to stop him. Britain and Norway, with serious gun restrictions, have seen gun violence.

“It’s disappointing and disgusting that she can pretty much look me in the eye and try to justify my mother’s murder and the murder of five other educators and the murders of 6- and 7-year-olds,” Lafferty said in an interview. “It’s disgusting.”

I’m trying not to be harsh regarding this tragedy and her loss, but this is an emotional argument, of which the media is all too excited to tell us about, being good little liberals. Guns didn’t murder those people: Adam Lanza did. He’s the one who pulled the trigger, having planned it for years, and intentionally went to a gun free zone because it was an easy kill zone. Putting massive burdens on other citizens who committed no crimes is not the answer. But this doesn’t end there, as Ayotte has a target on her back

Kelly Ayotte on defense over gun vote

In the aftermath of the Senate’s failed vote two weeks ago to expand background checks, New Hampshire has suddenly emerged as ground zero in the national battle over gun control, with Ayotte now stuck at the center of the fight.

Powerful outside groups run by former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg are bankrolling ads and vowing to dump huge resources into the state to force Ayotte to reverse her opposition to the bill or pay the political consequences. And after two years of projecting a profile as a foreign policy and deficit hawk, her critics in the state have spent the past two weeks trying to rebrand her as: “NRAyotte.”

The emotional fight threatens to transform Ayotte — a young conservative Republican woman whose star is on the rise — into a polarizing figure back home on a contentious issue. Instead of taking up the banner of gun rights, Ayotte is seeking a lower profile on the subject in a state where she’s become the last Republican in the all-female congressional delegation.

It’s a coordinated Democrat assault on a strong women who fails to share the liberal penchant for draconian gun laws. Were the GOP doing this it would be termed a war on women. The emotional assaults to grab guns are all the liberals have. Let’s point out that many of the people at the town hall, including Lafferty, are not New Hampshire residents, and not Ayotte’s constituents.

Surprise: Multicultural Education Classes Increase Intolerance

I’m really shocked that the end result of liberal education results in anger, violence, and intolerance. I’d always thought that the fascism of Progress was distinguished from the fascism of the Nazis due to the multiculturalism and tolerance, but, apparently these multiculturalism classes just make haters (and take away from actual learning that can help people in the Real World) (via Moonbattery)

(UK Daily Mail) Children who are given anti-racism lessons in school are more likely to be intolerant outside the classroom, a major study found yesterday.

It said accusing white pupils of racism causes animosity, and discussing sensitive ethnic concerns such as honour killings paints minority group children in a bad light.

The survey said children who live in mixed neighbourhoods are often free of hostility towards other racial groups.

But it found that ‘when more attention in class is being paid to the multicultural society, the liberalising effect of positive contact in class on youngsters’ xenophobic attitude decreases’.

Ok, it’s just one study. Seems to make sense, though

Patricia Morgan, an author on the family and education, said yesterday: ‘If you rub children’s noses in their supposed racism, they resent it.

‘Pupils are being accused of things they haven’t thought or done. Multiculturalism attempts to manipulate children’s thoughts, beliefs and emotions, it amounts to indoctrination, and it doesn’t work. It is counter-productive.

‘This study shows that when people try to manipulate children’s minds, it bounces back on them.’

As Dave Blount puts it “Unless we put multiculturalism behind us and go back to a healthy melting pot approach, moonbatty screeching about racism will become a self-fulfilling prophesy.”

Bad Weather Preventing Fisker Auto Only Cost 6 Times More To Make Than To Sell

And yet it was a terrible, terrible vehicle with numerous defects, a propensity to catch on fire, where constantly needing warranty repairs, and could be so bad that some demanded their money back. Perfect place to dump taxpayer money, eh? (this story is a bit dated, from April 18th)

(Bloomberg) Fisker Automotive Inc. spent more than six times as much U.S. taxpayer and investor money to produce each luxury plug-in car it sold than the company received from customers, according to a research report.

Fisker has spent $1.3 billion in taxpayer and venture capital money, or $660,000 for each car it sold, the report said.

Said vehicles sold for $103K. Aren’t you glad that Obama and the Democrats waste our money like this? On the bright side, they did stop the bad weather, since this January to April was the 20th coldest on record, with roughly 70% of the country being below average through April 28th.
