Latest Trump Outrage: He Went To Dinner Without The Press Pool!

I first heard about this when I walked in from work, turned the TV on, and, being that it was still on MSNBC, I was treated to uber-leftist host Rachel Maddow (who rails against income inequality while getting paid a huge salary) having a meltdown over Trump going to dinner without the press pool. This was terrible! Terrible! Then, this morning, they were still having a tizzy on Morning Joe. Seriously, if this is a Big Deal, the next 4-8 years is going to be a hoot

(NBC News) In a highly unusual move, President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday night left his Manhattan residence without notifying the reporters covering him or giving any indication of where he was going.

The maneuver seemed to deliberately limit access to the media.

The only way the press eventually ascertained his whereabouts was after a Bloomberg reporter, who happened to be dining at the 21 Club, tweeted a photo of Trump and some of his transition team in the Midtown steakhouse.

OMG, no press! It’s anti-Democracy! It’s against the 1st Amendment! I’m not making that up. That’s what one of Morning Joe’s guests actually stated (don’t ask me which one, I was listening, not watching).

(CBS News) President-elect Donald Trump has broken with protocol by leaving his Trump Tower residence without taking along his press contingent.

Protocol! The worst ever!

(CNN) For the second time in a week, president-elect Donald Trump has abandoned precedent and traveled without the “press pool,” a small group of journalists assigned to cover his movements.

His surprise trip on Tuesday evening was met by sharp criticism from some journalists.

Oh, poor babies. Seriously, some are actually calling themselves a “protective pool,” like they are there to protect the President and President-elect, rather than being vultures.

Seriously, there are stories all over the media, all apoplectic over Trump going to dinner without telling them. Which is hilarious, considering the way the media was treated by Obama over all these years. Going back to the NBC fable, we read

A week after the election, Trump hasn’t yet held a press conference, the longest any recent president has waited to speak to the press. That continues a weeks-long drought that’s been going on since mid-summer, when Trump last answered questions from the press.

Obama rarely held press conferences, and went months and months without one. Hillary did the same while she was running for POTUS. The media acted more like slobbering sycophants rather than being Very Upset over this lack of transparency. My goodness, if this riles them up into Level 7 Moonbattery, I can’t wait till he takes office and does something of actual consequence, like approving Keystone XL pipeline, whacking many Obamacare provisions, killing off the Paris climate agreement, etc.

Obama’s Paris Climate Agreement: The Lowest Form Of Commitment That Can Be Made

Why yes, yes President Donald Trump will easily be able to axe the Paris climate agreement. This follows up with the climate post this morning about commitments

(Jo Nova)  The UNFCCC were trying a weak bluff last week that Trump “would not derail Paris”. Turnbull rushed to sell Australia out to the Paris deal on Nov 10th for no purpose at all even after the US election guarantees two of the largest economies in the world will not be committed to carbon reduction, all of which was obvious from November 9th, 2016. (China — the other “largest” economy has promised to do nothing.)

In a letter to John Kerry on November 3rd,  fourteen US senators explained that Obama’s commitment to the Paris deal is the legal equivalent of him  giving a speech — the “lowest forms of commitment the United States can make…”. It’s worthless.  The Senators explained that everyone knows the Paris deal was done to avoid going through Congress (it’s printed in The Guardian) because Congress would never approve it.

Here’s part of the letter sent

And there’s this

When you read the whole thing in full, putting it all in context, you come away with the concrete idea that both the Paris climate agreement, along with Obama Clean Power Plan, which was mentioned, are both about to be burnt toast. Done. Gone. Outa here. Eliminated.

Republicans Look To Axe Billions In “Climate Finance”

Here’s some very good news. Though, not good for the Cult of Climastrology (via Watts Up With That?)

Republicans plan multi-billion dollar climate budget raid

US Republicans are expected to axe billions of dollars in climate finance when they take the White House and Congress in January.

Funds to help poor countries adapt to the impacts of global warming and develop sustainably will be redirected to domestic priorities.

“We are going to cancel billions in payments to the UN climate change programmes and use the money to fix America’s water and environmental infrastructure,” said President-elect Donald Trump in his 22 October Gettysburg address.1

With a Republican majority in the Senate and House of Representatives, there appears to be little standing in his way.

Because redirecting this money, which, for the most part, has never been allocated by the US Congress, back to the American people and their needs is a Bad Thing in Warmist World.

Notably, the US promised $3 billion towards the UN-backed Green Climate Fund, of which just $500m has been delivered.1 The outstanding sum is a major chunk of the $10bn seed money donated to the flagship scheme.

No, Obama promised that money. He failed to ask the people given the power of the purse to provide it. As David Middleton writes at WUWT?

The U.S. has no “climate finance commitments.”  Outgoing President Obama had a commitment.  He made the promise.  These United States did not make any promises or commitments.  The only ways in which this country could have made such a promise would have been through a treaty or legislation. (snip)

“President Obama’s personal championing of the cause” and his channeling of “diplomatic efforts into persuading G20 allies, for example, to stump up” were his efforts and his alone.  The fact that virtually none of those efforts were sent to Congress for ratification or enabling legislation means that they will be null & void on January 20, 2017.

If Warmists are upset about this, then they should have run these projects through Congress, and Obama could have worked to persuade them to back up his commitments. He didn’t. He didn’t even try. So, now, if Obama and the Cult of Climastrology want this money, they can use their own. Obama can pony up money from his own bank account. Warmists can donate their own money. They can hold fundraisers and stuff. They won’t, though. They’re always fine with this kind of thing till they have to see a hit to their own cash.

Washington Post Columnist Hopes Trump Fails

Remember when Rush Limbaugh stated that he wanted Obama to fail? Liberal heads throughout the media and the rest of Liberal World exploded. They proclaimed that Rush was now the leader of the Republican party, and that wanting Obama to fail was wishing that the country would fail. Ruth Marcus re-iterated this just the other day, in a missive where she straddled the line hoping Trump’s policies fail but, somehow, his presidency doesn’t. Nationally syndicated columnist Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post just hopes for failure

Where I wish President Trump failure

The people chose Hillary Clinton. But it’s the electoral vote that counts, not the popular vote, so Donald Trump will be president. And no, I’m not over it.

Apparently he hates American “democracy.”

If a normal Republican had been elected, I could say the polite and socially acceptable thing, something like “I didn’t support So-and-So, but he will be my president, too, and I wish him success.” But I cannot wish Trump success in rounding up and deporting millions of people or banning Muslims from entering the country or reinstituting torture as an instrument of U.S. policy. In these and other divisive, cruel, unwise initiatives, I wish him failure.

Of course, that’s exactly what so many voted for. Getting rid of illegals and stopping extremist Muslims from entering the country.

But he has not earned our trust or hope. Rather, he has earned the demonstrations that have erupted in cities across the country. He has earned relentless scrutiny by journalists, whom he shamelessly made into scapegoats during the campaign, and he has earned the constant vigilance of the public he now must serve.

See? It’s Trump’s fault that liberals are running riot in the streets, damaging, destroying, and burning, er, their own areas and stuff.

There have been more than 200 reports since the election of harassment and hate crimes, mostly directed at minorities, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. During an interview broadcast Sunday on “60 Minutes,” Trump addressed his supporters: “I will say this, and I will say right to the cameras: Stop it.”

A goodly chunk of those incidents blamed on Trump supporters were hoaxes and actually done by Trump haters. Why does Eugene not call for Democrats to “stop it”?

If Trump is beginning to confront reality on some fronts, that’s a first step — in a thousand-mile journey toward credibility and respect. But appointing Bannon is a big step backward. We must watch Trump, and judge him, every single inch of the way.

When we did that with Obama, something the media utterly failed to do, we were called racists. Since Trump is white and Eugene is black, does that mean that Eugene is a racist?

Liberal Derision Helps Explain Why They Lost

What we’re seeing right now is shades of the 2004 general election aftermath, with the added bonus of lots of violence and property damage, mostly by Democrat voters. And liberals do not seem to get why they’ve been repudiated. Before we get to that, let’s consider

Then we get this from Jill Lawrence at USA Today, whining about blue America not being heard, and something else

Poor, poor pitiful flyover country. Never getting the attention or respect or economic consideration it deserves. Never having a president to call its own.

Very unfair!

Right there, you can feel the derision and condescension from Ms. Lawrence, as typified within the Democratic Party base. Already, Democrats have trotted out the dusty 2004 memes of “Dumbfuckistan”, “Jesusland”, and flyover country, that being the nicest. But, it still shows that uber-leftist sneering at people who do not live in the big cities, who live in the suburbs, farming country, and so on. Do you vote for a party that denigrates you and de-values you?

As for having a say, Republicans are now completely in charge — governors and legislatures — in 24 states, up from 20 before the election. They have partial control in many more. These states are in flyover country, in the South, even in New England. If that’s not getting your voice heard, what is?

That’s what happens when you not only revile people as being part of flyover country, but, treat interest groups (blacks, white working class, latinos, etc) as yours, but don’t put the work in.

It’s also a fact that the economy has greatly improved on Obama’s watch, but obviously there are areas that are left behind. Rust Belt voters in particular placed their bets on Trump. This is ironic given that Obama saved their auto industry while most Republicans opposed the bailout and Trump himself was both for it and against it.

The economy may have gotten a bit better post-recession, but, it has tended to be better for those who are rich in the Obama economy. Those same auto industries have seen manufacturing continue to move to Canada and Mexico (while foreign auto makers, not part of the bailout for the most part, have settled in “flyover” country). Rust belt voters apparently think different from the hoity toity Ms. Lawrence.

Give Obama credit where credit is due: he’s a Tier One campaigner, one of the best of all time. He made people feel special and engaged them. He went to the counties and cities. He talked to them. Yet, that did not translate to down-ballot races, partly because Dems didn’t seem to like many of the people who they expected to vote for them. Do not expect this to get better anytime soon, as Dems trot out their continued hatred for flyover country, along with calling all the Trump voters racists, sexists, xenophobes, and so forth.

Who’s Going To Pay For ‘Climate Change’ Policies Is A Thorny Issue

Funny how Hotcoldwetdry keeps coming back to things that have nothing to do with science, but money (and politics)

Thorny issue of who will pay for climate damage simmers at UN talks

One of the thorniest issues at the UN climate talks is ‘loss and damage’, which touches on payment for repairing the harm done by climate change. Could the ongoing meeting in Marrakesh deliver some clarity on this controversial discussion?

It comes down to 3rd world shit holes developing countries using that sweet, sweet money forcibly taken from citizens of the 1st world as pushed by 1st world elites who refuse to pony up their own money and have giant sized carbon footprints.

This is exactly the kind of elitism that people rebelled against on Election Day. Even the Bernie Sanders supporters were rebelling against the elites. Brexit was much against the elites. Will the elites get it?

Global Warming Is Headed Towards The Tipping Point, You Guys!

I thought the tipping point was already here? No? We can add this as another in a long line of unhinged tipping point failed prognostications

As Trump Heads to Washington, Global Warming Nears Tipping Point

Global temperatures continue to shatter records this year, rising to within less than one degree of the level that scientists say would be catastrophic, according to the United Nations.

During the first nine months of the year, temperatures were 1.2 degrees Celsius (2.16 degrees Fahrenheit) above those recorded at the end of the 1800s, the UN’s World Meteorological Organization said in a report Monday. If the Earth warms more than 2 degrees beyond those pre-industrial levels, scientists have warned that climate change could hit an irreversible tipping point, unleashing a torrent of floods, droughts and storms.

Of course, this is all your fault for driving a fossil fueled vehicle, not handwashing your clothes, using a cable box, and not growing your own food. Oh, and for refusing to give up your liberty and money to Centralized Government. All required despite a lack of scientific proof.

Global temperatures are already more than halfway to U.N. climate target

The planet is now more than halfway to the line scientists say we can’t cross if we’re going to avoid catastrophic climate change.

Catastrophic! So, why aren’t Warmists living the life of a peasant in 1499?

Sweltering 2016 to set heat record, stoked by man-made warming: WMO

The heat, with impacts such as melting Greenland ice and damage to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, was stoked by an El Nino weather event in the Pacific early in the year and by man-made greenhouse gases, mainly from burning fossil fuels.

What’s missing is science. The Cult of Climastrology has simply deemed that they are correct, and Everyone Else must comply. And they’ll take lots of fossil fueled trips to demand it!
