Maureen Dowd: Obama Failed To Understand The Obama Revolution

Love her or hate her, the NY Times’ Maureen Dowd often provides interesting reads. She’s never seemed to be a big fan of Obama over the years, and has never shy’d away from taking him to task. Now she provides an interesting take on why Trump won, and puts a lot of blame on Obama

Obama Lobbies Against Obliteration by Trump

Out of a hailstorm of unfathomable things during the week, one sticks out to me: How can it be that in the end, Barack Obama did not understand the Obama revolution?

He came away from that elated whoosh in 2008 not comprehending that many voters viewed him as the escape hatch from Clinton Inc. It never would have occurred to anyone then — even the Clintons — that President Obama would be the one to brush away any aversions and objections, take us by the elbow, and firmly steer us back to Clinton Inc.

Voters waited in line for hours at those early Obama rallies because they wanted thunderous change. They wanted a newcomer who didn’t look like the old dudes on our money, someone who would bust up the incestuous system and give us, as the poster said, hope.

But Obama lost touch with his revolutionary side and settled comfortably into being an Ivy League East Coast cerebral elitist who hung out with celebrities, lectured Congress and scorned the art of political persuasion.

In other words, all the hopey changey he promised became not only more of the same, but Obama became the very thing he campaigned against.

He was cozy with Silicon Valley and dismissive of working-class voters anxious about globalization, shrugging that “We’re part of an interconnected global economy now, and there’s no going back from that.” He was dismissive of Americans anxious about terrorism after the Paris attacks, noting that you’d be more likely to die from a bathtub fall.

For all his faults, Bill Clinton was able to put forth an attitude that he understood the average American, and that he could not only empathize, but sympathize, an attitude that neither Hillary nor Obama could do. Obama was always the guy on the pedestal, and, once in office, continued to show that He Knows Better, and that all you citizens with concerns are just silly.

The man who swept into the White House in a boisterous rebellion was dismissive of the boisterous rebellions in both the Democratic and Republican Parties. He insisted that an incrementalist and fellow Ivy League East Coast cerebral elitist who hangs out with celebrities would be best to save his legacy.

The elitists in the Executive Branch, from Obama down to the people he appointed, helped create the next revolution, both from the Sanders camp and the Trump camp. Obama said he would drain the swamp. He became King Lizard of the swamp.

As she cuddled up to Wall Street, Hillary forgot about the forgotten man — and woman. Bill complained in meetings that campaign manager Robby Mook was ignoring white working-class voters, according to Politico, but his concern was waved off as the plea of “a talented but aging politician who simply refused to accept the new Democratic map.”

Love him or hate him, Bill tends to have a good finger on the pulse of the voter. These workers had been mostly ignored during Obama’s years, and were now being ignored by Team Hillary.

There’s plenty more in the Dowd piece, well worth a full read, where she takes Obama and Hillary to task for essentially being the very elitists that are out of touch with the common American. The very ones who put Trump into the White House.

Trump Horrifies Liberals With Plans To Immediately Deport/Jail Up To 3 Million Illegals

This has, as you can guess, sent liberals into apoplexy. The Daily Kos’ Hunter is now referring to Trump as President-Elect Pumpkinführer. Others are following suit

(CBS News) President-elect Donald Trump’s hard-line immigration stance was a central part of his campaign message in 2016 — and he said in an interview airing Sunday that he plans to immediately deport approximately two to three million undocumented immigrants.

“What we are going to do is get the people that are criminal and have criminal records, gang members, drug dealers, where a lot of these people, probably two million, it could be even three million, we are getting them out of our country or we are going to incarcerate,” Trump said in an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes.” “But we’re getting them out of our country, they’re here illegally.”

Leftists are trying to make a case that there aren’t that many with criminal backgrounds, even when considering that crossing the border illegally is illegal. They forget that roughly 40-45% of the illegals in the country overstayed their visas, which is even more criminal than those who jumped the border.

Regardless, this gives a good view into how Liberals will respond to the era of Trump, meaning meltdowns and severe opposition to everything he proposes, regardless of whether it is good policy or not. Deporting those with criminal backgrounds? How dare he!  A lollipop a day to kids under 8? That’s horrific! Der Fuhrer is trying to ruin their teeth! He’s the most awful thing ever!

He continued by saying that after the border is “secure,” immigration officials will begin to make a “determination” about the remaining undocumented immigrants in the U.S.

“After the border is secure and after everything gets normalized, we’re going to make a determination on the people that they’re talking about who are terrific people, they’re terrific people but we are gonna make a determination at that,” he said. “But before we make that determination…it’s very important, we are going to secure our border.”

Does anyone think this might include a pathway to citizenship? For some, sure, I do think we can look at it, with requirements like they must speak, and preferably read, English. They must pay penalties and fees like those who attempted to become citizens the legal way. Being able to pass the citizenship test (interestingly, something quite a bit of citizens can’t). No criminal history, and this includes misdemeanors.

Remember, though, I told you long ago that Trump was pro-pathway to citizenship. He’s said it, his staff has said it, his son has said it. Once he’s inaugurated, we’ll see what he actually does. Will he change all of Obama’s illegal alien orders? Will he institute policies whereby illegals are almost immediately deported? The best thing he can do is create an atmosphere whereby illegals, whether border jumpers or visa overstayers, don’t. They just do not come. Cross the border and be caught? Put them right back over the border. Overstay your visa? Gather your stuff, you’re being put on a plane, and your bank account will pay for it.

Illegal immigration is one of Trump’s top priorities, and some of his biggest promises. Just 66 days to see how he handles it.

Report: Trump’s Looking For Quickest Way Out Of Paris Climate Accord

Despite all the caterwauling from Warmists, President Donald Trump (I wonder if Liberals will spell his name Tr***, like they spelled Bush B***?) is well within his rights to take the U.S. out of the Paris climate agreement. I bet Obama’s wishing he had found some way to craft it so that the U.S. Senate had ratified it now, eh?

(Fox News) President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly looking at ways for the U.S. to back out of a landmark climate pact, which would defy an agreement to cut carbon emissions across the globe.

A source on Trump’s transition team told Reuters that the team was looking for ways to bypass the procedure to leave the Paris accord, which was agreed upon last December. Trump has previously stated his disbelief in global warming. Other global governments, including China, have expressed their reaffirming support for the deal.

“It was reckless for the Paris agreement to enter into force before the election,” the source told Reuters on Tuesday.

One of the alternatives he said was to withdraw from the 1992 Convention that was a parent to the 2015 Paris accord. It would void U.S. participation in the deal in a year’s time. Trump could also “delete” the U.S. signature from the deal.

Another option would be to simply ignore the provisions of the agreement, particularly those on redistributing US taxpayer money to 3rd world nations for “climate” stuff.  For the most part, virtually every single country that was party to the Kyoto Protocol ignored their obligations, and only a handful actually hit their required CO2 targets.

But, it’s doubtful that Trump will take the soft route. We should expect him to simply issue a presidential directive which undoes the signature by uber-global elitist Obama.

(UK Guardian) Despite the threat of a US withdrawal, US secretary of state John Kerry said on Sunday that he would continue his efforts to implement the Paris agreement until Barack Obama leaves office on 20 January.

Speaking in New Zealand following a trip to Antarctica, Kerry appeared to take a swipe at Trump when he listed some of the ways in which global warming could already be seen. He said that there were more fires, floods and damaging storms around the world, and sea levels were rising.

“The evidence is mounting in ways that people in public life should not dare to avoid accepting as a mandate for action,” Kerry said.

So, you have a global elitist scooting around the world on fossil fueled vehicles telling us how dangerous Hotcoldwetdry is while positioning an agreement crafted by global elitists as a mandate for action. It was so important that it wasn’t even put up for debate by Obama and Kerry to the duly elected legislative body of the U.S. Many global elitists are thinking (praying, hoping?) that Trump will come around to their (global elitist) Warmist point of view. They surely have another thing coming.

And we’ll have a good laugh at the ensuing Cult of Climastrology meltdown when Trump negates U.S. participation in the Paris climate agreement.

Meanwhile, for a good laugh today

U.S. EPA employees were in tears. Worried Energy Department staffers were offered counseling. Some federal employees were so depressed, they took time off. Others might retire early.

And some employees are in downright panic mode in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s victory.

“People are upset. Some people took the day off because they were depressed,” said John O’Grady, president of American Federation of Government Employees Council 238, a union that represents thousands of EPA employees. After Election Day, “people were crying,” added O’Grady, who works in EPA’s Region 5 office in Chicago. “They were recommending that people take sick leave and go home.”

Good News: Seething Liberals Vow Revolution

Seriously, when aren’t they seething? When Obama won in 2008 and 2012, they still seethed. It’s what they do. Now, though, they are supposedly going to do it against the Democratic Party

(The Hill) The Republican civil war was supposed start this week.

Instead, a ferocious struggle has erupted on the left over the smoldering remains of the Democratic Party.

Liberals are seething over the election and talking about launching a Tea Party-style revolt. They say it’s the only way to keep Washington Democrats connected to the grassroots and to avoid a repeat of the 2016 electoral disaster, which blindsided party elites.

Progressives believe the Democratic establishment is responsible for inflicting Donald Trump upon the nation, blaming a staid corporate wing of the party for nominating Hillary Clinton and ignoring the Working Class voters that propelled Trump to victory.

Liberals interviewed by The Hill want to see establishment Democrats targeted in primaries, and the “Clinton-corporate wing” of the party rooted out for good.

They even want to establish a Tea Party style movement. In case they’ve forgotten, they tried this with the Coffee Party and Occupy Wall Street. Both of which are technically around, but, mostly ignored, because they were a bunch of unhinged cranks. Oh, and rapists, drug users, used violence including stabbings, shootings, and murder, along with attempted bombings. And liked to poop on police cars, doorsteps, and wherever they felt like it. Nutballs.

They pulled this same schtick back in 2004 when John Kerry lost, and what did it get them? Nothing. Because liberals are trained to be sheeple, and they’ll come right back to supporting whatever their Democratic Party masters tell them to. There will be no revolution, no remaking of the party. Especially since these nutballs want to move the party further and further to the left, closer and closer to a fully Progressive (nice Fascism) society.

The Hill reached former Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Colo.), who was in charge of Clinton’s White House transition team, as he packed up to leave Washington and return to his farm in Southern Colorado.

“There were people who felt left out of he economy over the last eight years who were never able to get back on their feet, blue collar men and women,” Salazar said. “Donald Trump was able to capture them in terms of emotion and sentiment.”

“Democrats have not done very well in rural America and I don’t understand why that has happened. The broader question is how to have a Democratic Party that can attract those working men and women.”

Democrats sneer at rural America. Everyone it is a rube, a hick, an idiot, a no-nothing. There is nothing but condescension for rural America. You can bet that the whole “Jesusland” and “Dumbfuckistan” talking points will crop up soon, if they haven’t already. The Dems are the party of elites. Hollywood, athletes, etc. They all feel superior, and cannot identify with the average working American. They really like to tell everyone else how to feel and act. And this will not get better. A default position is patronization, and people have seen through that.

President Trump Might Mean “Game Over For The Climate’

Another typical freakout from the Cult of Climastrology

Donald Trump presidency a ‘disaster for the planet’, warn climate scientists
Leading scientists say the climate denier’s victory could mean ‘game over for the climate’ and any hope of warding off dangerous global warming

The ripples from a new American president are far-reaching, but never before has the arrival of a White House administration placed the livability of Earth at stake. Beyond his bluster and crude taunts, Donald Trump’s climate denialism could prove to be the lasting imprint of his unexpected presidency.

“A Trump presidency might be game over for the climate,” said Michael Mann, a prominent climate researcher. “It might make it impossible to stabilize planetary warming below dangerous levels.”

Kevin Trenberth, senior scientist at the US National Center for Atmospheric Research, added: “This is an unmitigated disaster for the planet.”

Say the people who scoot around the planet in fossil fueled vehicles spreading awareness and demanding policies that raising the cost of living for the middle and lower classes while not only making them more dependent on government buy also dramatically increasing the power of government over citizen’s lives and increasing taxes and fees to the government.

“Millions of Americans voted for a coal-loving climate denier willing to condemn people around the globe to poverty, famine and death from climate change,” said Benjamin Schreiber, climate director at Friends of the Earth US. “It seems undeniable that the United States will become a rogue state on climate change.”

A rogue state! Hooray! What Warmists are really concerned with is not being able to initiate a more Progressive (nice Fascist) governmental structure, and that their own funding emanating from the government might dry up. And you can bet if the money dries up they’ll no longer care that much, and they’ll lose prestige and power of their own.

The funny part here is that, while Trump will certainly push policies that increase America’s use of it’s own fossil fuels, along with working with Canada to get some of theirs (which would simply decrease America’s reliance on nations that have terrorist leanings), he will surely, based on what he has said, look to implement smart projects to increase the use of renewables. Rather than just slapping up solar and wind farms that are expensive and cannot survive without actual subsidies, to go with all the tax breaks that fossil fuels companies (and almost every company can use) get, he will implement policies which will do more R&D to develop renewables that actually work and are cost effective. Trump is not beholden to donors like Obama, and won’t use this to repay donors.

If renewables could be developed that were cost effective, provide a lot of power for a much lower price, could put the people in charge of their own power needs, and there are other things, like freeing electric car makers to develop, wouldn’t that be a good thing? Not in Warmist World, because this is not about science, it’s about politics, and they won’t like it that government doesn’t grow.

Regardless, the planet will be fine. Warmists might need to seek mental health counselors, though.

Trump Makes Major U-Turn On Obamacare And Prosecuting Hillary Or Something

One of the things Trump and his supporters screamed about during the general election was about the nature of the media, and how biased they were. The way they spin things. We know this, we know they way they are shady and in the tank for Democrats, and will attempt to make Democrats look great and Republicans look bad. Now, they’re all pimping the notion that Trump has gone back on his pledge to repeal Obamacare. For instance

Donald Trump: I may not repeal Obamacare, President-elect says in major U-turn
Getting rid of the healthcare plan was among billionaire businessman’s biggest campaign promises

Donald Trump has said that he might not repeal Obamacare, perhaps his biggest campaign promise.

The President-elect performed the apparent U-turn after his meeting with Barack Obama at the White House this week, he has said.

Mr Trump is going to look at “amending” the Affordable Care Act, rather than completely repealing it, he told the Wall Street Journal.

“Either Obamacare will be amended, or repealed and replaced,” Trump told the newspaper. “I told him I will look at his suggestions, and out of respect, I will do that.”

Oh, noes, doooooom! Really, though, this is just Trump being nice after a meeting with Obama. What Trump was specifically referring to are two provisions he favors: allowing kids to stay on their parents insurance up to 26 and insurers refusing to cover people with pre-existing conditions. At the end of the day, the GOP will push through legislation that will repeal and replace Obamacare, and Trump will sign it. There’s nothing wrong with keeping a few provisions, especially if there are things that the GOP preferred previously.

Then we have the prosecution of Hillary Clinton

Having called Hillary Clinton a “nasty woman” and “crooked” during the campaign, Trump struck a conciliatory tone towards his former opponent in both interviews. The Wall Street Journal asked about campaign promises to appoint a special prosecutor to pursue criminal charges against his Democratic rival over her use of a private email server to conduct official business as secretary of state.

“It’s not something I’ve given a lot of thought, because I want to solve healthcare, jobs, border control, tax reform,” Trump said. The statement is likely to anger the president-elect’s core supporters, many of whom chanted: “Lock her up, lock her up,” at rallies during the campaign.

Nor should this be a priority. Fixing the problems in the nation, as he mentions, are. It would also look bad politically for him to go after Hillary after defeating her in a humiliating manner. She deserves to be prosecuted, and for the Clinton Foundation to be heavily investigated, but, it would be better if a President Trump stayed hands off. He doesn’t want to turn into That Politician. The best revenge on Hillary, Obama, and the Democrats will be to work hard to get things done.

But, sheesh, the guy hasn’t even taken office and the liberal media is already parsing everything he says and attempting to spin it in a negative manner.
