AG Sessions Looks To Speed Up Deportations Of “Immigrants”

Many wonder where Jeff Sessions is on some issues, but, when it comes to illegal immigration, he has been working hard to kick them out. Here’s Reuters point it out using somewhat misleading language. Which we’re all used to. You’d think that they’d get the message, along with the rest of the media, that no one is buying their schitck

U.S. attorney general issues order to speed up immigrant deportations

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday sought to speed up the deportation of illegal immigrants, telling immigration judges they should only postpone cases in removal proceedings “for good cause shown.”

Sessions, in an interim order that was criticized by some lawyers, said the “good-cause” standard “limits the discretion of immigration judges and prohibits them from granting continuances for any reason or no reason at all.”

Unlike the federal judiciary system, U.S. immigration courts fall under the Department of Justice and the attorney general can intervene. Sessions, a Republican former U.S. Senator appointed by President Donald Trump, has been unusually active in this practice compared to his predecessors. (snip)

Critical in showing “good cause” is whether a person is likely to succeed in efforts to remain in the United States, either by appealing for asylum or receiving some form of visa or work permit, Sessions said on Thursday.

That makes quite a bit of sense. If they aren’t going to succeed, or there’s little chance of succeeding, kick those who are unlawfully present in the U.S. out toot-sweet. Immediately. Of course, this makes those who are supposed to be representing Americans very sad

Stephen Kang, an attorney with the ACLU immigrants rights project, described Sessions’ order as “troubling” and one of a series that “has moved in the direction of restricting due process rights for individuals who are in removal proceedings.”

What he’s actually saying is that the chance of the illegal disappearing back into America after being caught would be reduced. Tough. We have laws.

Judge Dismisses Youth Climate Change Lawsuit in Washington State

A group of young climate advocates who sued the state of Washington to force it to reduce greenhouse gas emissions lost their case on Tuesday when a judge sided with the state and agreed to dismiss it.

The judge urged them to pursue their cause through other channels.

King County Superior Court Judge Michael Scott wrote that the issues at the heart of the case are political and should be considered by the state’s legislative and executive branches, not settled by its courts.

The Washington lawsuit is one of nine state-level cases involving youth advocates supported by Our Children’s Trust, the group leading a federal youth lawsuit that heads to trial in a U.S. District Court in Oregon this October. Like the federal suit, known as Juliana v. U.S., the state lawsuits accuse the government of failing to protect the children from the dangers of climate change and pushing policies that favor fossil fuel use.

This type of thing is meant to go through the legislative branch, where people make law, not courts, which rule on whether law is Constitutional. Regardless, this has made the Warmist/Climahypocrites very upset, and they want Something Done. Well, they have their chance coming up

Will Washington State Voters Make History on Climate Change?

This November, voters in Washington State may do what no group of people—in or outside the United States—has done before.

They will vote on whether to adopt a carbon fee, an aggressive policy to combat climate change that charges polluters for the right to emit carbon dioxide and other potent greenhouse gases.

Their decision will reverberate far beyond the Olympic Peninsula. If the measure passes, Washington will make history, becoming not only the first state in the union to adopt a type of policy called a carbon tax—but also the first government anywhere to do so by ballot referendum.

Carbon tax or cap and trade, several states already have them, and they’re driving up the cost of living. But, if Washington voters want this, that’s on them. Perhaps they should give up their own use of fossil fuels individually if they vote for it. The last time they tried this in 2016 it failed. I’m not find any real polling on the issue, but, if they want a fee/tax/whatever language they want to use, go for it. Don’t cry when prices skyrocket and businesses leave.

Doom: Extreme Heat Due To You Eating Burgers To Last To 2022

(USA Today) This summer’s heat has shattered records around the Northern Hemisphere, from Algeria to Canada and Japan to California. New research suggests this could be only the beginning of a four-year global “warm spell.”

Using a new forecasting technique, scientists in a study published Tuesday predict that the rest of 2018 through 2022 may be warmer than expected around the world as human-caused global warming and natural factors combine to heat the planet.

“The coming warm period is associated with an increased likelihood of intense to extreme temperatures,” the study says.

Scientists say that although the Earth will be warmer than average overall, it may not be hot everywhere for everyone:

“We are not predicting another heat wave – a warmer year doesn’t always mean (that),” study lead author Florian Sevellec told Deutsche Welle. “That’s because the forecast only covers global mean temperatures, not regional temperatures in certain parts of the world.”

That last bit is a way to weasel out. Altogether, this isn’t quite as doomy as other prognostications, as I look across at stories on this at other outlets, such as the UK Independent. It’s more of a soft shoe type “we’re doomed”

The researchers built their forecasting system by statistical “hind-casting,” according to The Guardian. This crunches the data from previous climate models to measure which combination was most effective in predicting past temperature trends.

OK.

Weather.us meteorologist Ryan Maue, who was not involved in the research, wonders whether the study “was really telling us anything new. The methodology is a statistical fit to previous (historical) data and climate model scenarios.”

In addition, he says, “there are no physics here – no El Niño or ocean dynamics.”

“The extreme warmth of … 2016 was caused by the strong El Niño, and we have been ‘stepped up’ at the global temperature level now for two to three years,” Maue says. “Thus, to skillfully predict global temperatures, you need to replicate the mechanisms that are actually changing the global temperature (such as El Niño).”

Still, even if this happens, it’s not proof that the warming is mostly/solely caused by Mankind, as the Cult of Climastrology Believes.

NY Gov Andrew Cuomo (D) Says That “America Was Never That Great”

NY Governor Andrew Cuomo is one of the big wigs in the Democratic Party as well as in the #resist movement, and managed to say what most Democrats think

(Breitbart) Wednesday in New York City while giving a speech, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) said America “was never that great,” referencing President Donald Trump‘s “Make America Great Again” slogan.

Wrapping up his speech that was highly critical of Trump, Cuomo said, “We’re not going to make America great again. It was never that great.”

He added, “We have not reached greatness. We will reach greatness when every American is fully engaged. We will reach greatness when discrimination and stereotyping against women, 51 percent of our population, is gone, and every woman’s full potential is realized and unleashed, and every woman is making her full contribution. When that happens this nation is going to be taken even higher.”

This caused “gasps” in the audience, probably because they didn’t expect Cuomo to broadcast Democrat beliefs. This definitely was a gaffe, otherwise known as when a politician tells what they actually believe. He attempted to “clarify” after being busted

Washington Post: We Agree With Trump Smacking Turkey Around, He’s Just Doing It Wrong

While dozens, if not hundreds, of news outlet editorial boards are posting whiny missives fighting back against Trump for calling them fake news because they attack him constantly (such as the NY Times which says a free press needs you (I missed where the Trump is threatening to take them over) but only had supportive words for Obama, WRAL which has never had a decent word towards Trump but loved Obama, and the NJ Star Ledger which complains that every tyrant and dictator thinks the press is the enemy (weird that they weren’t worried when Obama was spying on reporters)), the Washington Post goes a different. All the ones involved in attacking Trump are pretty much proving his point about the press, especially since most are doing what CNN is doing: ignoring the Keith Ellison allegations. The Washington Post one is more measured and actually makes some sense, rather than being #Resist

Trump is right to push Turkey. He’s just doing it wrong.

TURKEY’S ECONOMY is in crisis, teetering on the brink of an implosion that could undo two decades of progress. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is blaming economic warfare by President Trump, who last week announced a doubling of tariffs on imports of Turkish aluminum and steel . The U.S. action was ill-advised, in part because it may confuse Turks about who is really responsible for the collapse of the national currency: none other than Mr. Erdogan himself.

In an apparent attempt to force a U.S. handover of an ally-turned-rival who lives in Pennsylvania, Mr. Erdogan imprisoned a number of American citizens on trumped-up charges, including a pastor, Andrew Brunson, whom Mr. Erdogan has openly described as a bargaining chip. Mr. Trump thought he made a deal with the Turkish strongman in a July meeting to free Mr. Brunson; when the Turks failed to deliver, an angry White House imposed sanctions on two Turkish government ministers before announcing the new tariffs.

One problem with the administration’s response is that it is too narrowly focused on Mr. Brunson, who has become a cause celebre for Christian evangelicals. Mr. Trump ought to be demanding that all 20 U.S. citizens being held be released, along with several Turkish employees of U.S. consulates. In addition, the use of tariffs as a political weapon is a dangerous breach of international norms. The administration would have done better to expand on the sanctions against individuals involved in the improper detentions and other human rights abuses, and to hold up, as Congress has mandated, delivery to Turkey of F-35 fighter jets.

Now, they actually make a few salient points. This could have been done better, especially in terms of noting all the U.S. citizens. This is the kind of smackdown the press would have done against Obama, essentially gently chiding him.

The decision to get tough with Mr. Erdogan is nevertheless the right one. Analysts who worry about a fracturing of relations with a key NATO ally ought to recognize that Turkey has not been behaving as an ally; allies do not take U.S. citizens hostage. Fears that the currency crisis will spread to other developing nations so far look exaggerated. Mr. Erdogan’s own threats to turn to Russia look empty; Moscow cannot supply the billions of dollars needed to pull Turkey’s economy out of the hole he has dug.

Mr. Trump evidently believes that he has decisive leverage over Mr. Erdogan, and he is probably right. He should use it not just to free one Christian pastor but also to show an unhinged ruler the costs of playing dictator, either to his own people or to the rest of the world.

I’m guessing the WPEB didn’t get the message that they were supposed to attack Trump over calling them fake news. Regardless, they did offer what they think are better ideas to smack around Edrogen and Turkey, but, remember, most of the time when Trump does things differently they end up working out. Especially since these targeted sanctions on individuals often don’t. I guess we’ll see who is correct. Because this is from yesterday

Designer Jun Kamei’s interest in the designs found in nature has led him to create Amphibio, a 3D-printed accessory that works as a gill and may one day provide humans with an alternative way to breathe underwater.

Royal College of Art graduate Kamei, in partnership with RCA-IIS Tokyo Design Lab, was inspired to create a lightweight underwater respiratory device because of predicted rises in sea levels.

“I was looking at how the future of our urban environment will change with global warming, and got deeply interested by figures of water level rise,” said Kamei.

We Should Abolish ‘Climate Change’, Not Adapt To It Or Something

People who use lots of fossil fuels tell us that we should make them more expensive and install a government Ponzi scheme. Here’s Judy Hindley of the Citizens Climate Lobby UK in the nutty UK Guardian

Stop climate change, don’t ‘adapt’ to it

While I appreciate your work in keeping the spotlight on the global heatwave (World on fire: the rise of the 50C city, G2, 13 August), I’m scared by the emphasis of your correspondents and leader writers on “adapting” to climate change (Letters, 11 July). You don’t “adapt” to a raging fire, do you? You have to stop it. And the first thing you need to do is stop pouring fuel on it.

Leading scientists worldwide now agree that the main cause of the climate crisis is the burning of fossil fuels, and leading economists agree that the solution is to price fossil fuels out of the market. Until that happens, we will be paying – with our health, our lives and our children’s future.

Why don’t we hear more about this? Two main reasons, perhaps: our economy is largely run on fossil fuels, and those on low incomes suffer most from higher energy prices. Yet there’s a solution.

And that solution?

It’s over six years since the leading scientist Dr James Hansen – in a historic TED talk on climate change, which laid out how his warnings had been suppressed in his 30-year tenure as director of Nasa’s Goddard Institute – memorably declared that “the greatest tragedy is that it would be so easy to stop it”.

What is needed, he said, is a substantial, rising fee on fossil fuels, imposed at the source (oil well, coal pit, port of entry) – with the revenue not kept by the government but returned to every citizen in equal shares.

This would not only ease the transition for those on low incomes but promote every kind of green behaviour, as well as incentivising the development and deployment of alternative energy sources. It’s an elegant solution – easy to implement, transparent in its operation, immediate in its effect, and fair.

See? It’s so easy. Tax the hell out of fossil fuels companies, and then the government will magnanimously give money to low income people who’ve seen their cost of living skyrocket, making them even more dependent on government. And if you’re dependent on government, they own you. And can force you to engage in said “green behavior.”

Credentialed Media Seems Rather Upset That Criminal “Immigrant” Was Deported To El Salvador

Look at this headline: do you get the idea that NJ.com is attempting to scapegoat Immigration and Customs Enforcement for being mean and deporting “immigrants”?

This immigrant was arrested multiple times. Now ICE has sent him back to El Salvador.

No telling if writer Kelly Heyboer wrote the headline or someone else did. Let’s see what she did write

An unauthorized immigrant who had been arrested multiple times in New Jersey and New York was sent back to El Salvador last week, where he was wanted on murder charges, federal officials said.

Brian Alejandro Martinez, who has also gone by the name Maximiliano Cornejo, was flown to El Salvador and turned over to local authorities Friday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said.

“This individual’s egregious immigration history and serious criminal history in the U.S., as well as being wanted for homicide in his home country, shows that he is a dangerous individual who warranted removal from the community and the U.S.,” said John Tsoukaris, field office director of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations division in Newark.

He’s been deported several times going back to 2006. He’s been arrested multiple times since 2014, serving time in jail for “multiple local charges”, and was arrested on more local charges in 2016 after posting bond in 2015 pending removal proceedings. We finally get to

In July, nearly two years after his latest arrest, an immigration judge ordered him removed to El Salvador.

So, it wasn’t ICE that deported him, it was a federal judge. But, hey, let’s scapegoat ICE a bit more

Martinez’s removal from the U.S. comes as ICE has been stepping up arrests and efforts to send unauthorized immigrants back to their home countries.

In fiscal year 2017, ICE removed or returned 226,119 immigrants to their home countries, federal officials said. That is about 15,000 more than the previous year.

Here you have an illegal alien who’s already been deported and returned, making him a felony absconder, who committed enough local crimes to get him sentenced to 253 days in jail, who then committed more crimes, and is also wanted for murder charges in El Salvador, but, the media wants to attempt to position ICE as being meanies for deporting more illegals.

Regardless, ICE did their job and got rid of this dangerous criminal, yet, we still have Democratic nutters doing this
