Good News: People Going Nuts Over ‘Climate Change’ Are Not Alone

Thankfully, we have People Magazine, a rag supposedly about celebrities and such, to tell us these things

Feeling Anxious About Climate Change? Therapists Say You’re Not Alone

Therapist Andrew Bryant says the landmark United Nations climate reportlast October brought a new mental health concern to his patients.

“I remember being in sessions with folks the next day. They had never mentioned climate change before, and they were like, ‘I keep hearing about this report,’” Bryant said. “Some of them expressed anxious feelings, and we kept talking about it over our next sessions.”

The study, conducted by the world’s leading climate scientists, said that if greenhouse gas emissions continue at the current rate, by 2040 the Earth will warm by 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit (1.5 degrees Celsius). Predictions say that increase in temperature will cause extreme weather events, rising sea levels, species extinction and reduced capacity to produce food.

Bryant works at North Seattle Therapy & Counseling in Washington state. Recently, he said, he has been seeing patients with anxiety or depression related to climate change and the Earth’s future.

Often these patients want to do something to reduce global warming but are overwhelmed and depressed by the scope of the problem and difficulty in finding solutions. And they’re anxious about how the Earth will change over the rest of their or their children’s lifetimes.

There’s an easy answer. Give up their modern lifestyles and make their lives carbon neutral. Boom. Solved.

Although it is not an official clinical diagnosis, the psychiatric and psychological communities have names for the phenomenon: “climate distress,” “climate grief,” “climate anxiety” or “eco-anxiety.”

How about “climate nuttbaggery”?

There is no epidemiological data yet to show how common distress or anxiety related to climate change is. But, people say these feelings are real and affect their life decisions.

Apparently not affecting their life decisions, because we do not hear about a mass movement of them giving up their own fossil fueled travel, hand washing clothes, no ice makers, turning the AC up to 80, 2 minute showers, living in tiny apartments in rat warren properties, and so forth.

For Laura, becoming involved with the international activist group Extinction Rebellion has helped her build a network of people who share her values and made her feel as if she’s making a positive contribution to society. With the group, she has participated in nonviolent protests and is organizing the Atlanta chapter’s first grief circle, where people can share their anxiety and grief about the destruction of the Earth.

“Activism is also therapy for me,” said Laura.

Being a lunatic and causing problems for other people is her therapy. Go figure.

Brat Pack Says They Country Belongs To Everyone, Including Those Who Hate The Country

There are certainly times when Trump could turn the volume down from 30 to 25, but, admit it, Republicans have been begging for the elected Republicans to fight back against the Democrats and their constant unhinged attacks for decades, especially since the Bush years. Democrats have been able to say whatever they want whenever they want, and Republicans were supposed to just take it, and, for the most part, they did. Politics is a dirty nasty business wrapped in a veneer of civility. Dems have dumped that civility, with the help of the Democrat run media. Trump is just bringing it back to the Dems.

Trump says they ‘hate our country.’ The Democrats he attacked say the country ‘belongs to everyone.’

President Trump on Monday defended his racist remarks about four minority lawmakers by alleging that they “hate our country” and should leave if they are unhappy — leading the Democratic congresswomen to respond by offering a competing vision of America that they said was based on inclusiveness.

Right there, this is the media writing a story attempting to defend the Brat Pack, or The Squad, if you like, as well as all Democrats. It’s editorializing in what is supposed to be a straight news piece, in which the Washington Post writers have interjected their opinion that Trump’s comments were raaaaacist.

Trump’s comments, delivered in response to questions at a White House event ostensibly about American products, marked an escalation of a series of weekend tweets in which the president said the four Democrats should “go back” to “the crime infested places from which they came.” Three of the lawmakers were born in the United States, and the fourth is a U.S. citizen born in Somalia.

When asked if he was bothered that many people viewed the remarks as racist and that white nationalists found common cause with them, Trump said: “It doesn’t concern me because many people agree with me. And all I’m saying: They want to leave, they can leave.”

The four Democrats — Reps. Ayanna Pressley (Mass.), Rashida Tlaib (Mich.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) and Ilhan Omar (Minn.) — responded with a joint news conference late Monday in which they sought to contrast their efforts on issues such as health care and immigration with the president’s actions.

Interestingly, they barely talked about how they love America. Mostly, they talked about wanting to change America to something else.

Trump said the four lawmakers — informally known as “the Squad” on Capitol Hill — have been “complaining constantly” about the United States. “These are people that hate our country,” he said. “They hate our country. They hate it, I think, with a passion.”

And he suggested several times that the group should simply leave the United States. “If you’re not happy here, then you can leave,” he said, to applause from those gathered for the business-focused event. “As far as I’m concerned, if you hate our country, if you’re not happy here, you can leave.”

Perhaps they can take all the celebrities and sports figures and such who promised to leave the U.S. if Trump won, but never did, with them. Seriously, you can’t sit there and say you love something but then say that you want to change everything about the thing you say you love.

“I want to tell children across this country . . . that no matter what the president says, this country belongs to you, and it belongs to everyone,” Ocasio-Cortez said, recounting a childhood trip to the Reflecting Pool on the Mall.

So, it belongs to the America haters, as well?

In a trio of tweets Monday evening, the president tried again to explain what several White House aides claimed was the original intent of his tweets — that individuals who are not happy in the United States are free to live elsewhere — while simultaneously demonizing the four minority lawmakers without naming them.

“We will never be a Socialist or Communist Country,” Trump wrote. “IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY HERE, YOU CAN LEAVE!”

“Certain people,” he added, “HATE our Country. They are anti-Israel, pro Al-Qaeda, and comment on the 9/11 attack, ‘some people did something.’ ”

Omar, AOC, and Pressley refused to condemn the violent attacks on the ICE facility. AOC called pictures of 9/11 “triggering” and said they shouldn’t be shown. Omar tap-danced around questions about her support for terrorists.

Reading that whole thread is worth the time. The Brat Pack wants to destroy America, they hate Israel and Jews, a few seem to be pro-terrorist, they want open borders, want the government to control the economy, and want the government to control your life. Rarely will you hear them talk about loving America. So, they can screech about raaaaacism all they want, which is their default position, but they cannot answer the charges against them.

Say, Has Your Doctor Talked To You About The Non-Existent Climate Crisis Yet Or Something?

Sounds like a winning plan: you make the appointment weeks to months ahead of time, show up early, your doctor keeps you sitting around past your appointment time, then wants to yammer at you about Hotcoldwetdry before jumping in their expensive low MPG fossil fueled vehicle and driving to their mansion

Has Your Doctor Talked To You About Climate Change?

When Michael Howard arrives for a checkup with his lung specialist, he’s worried about how his body will cope with the heat and humidity of a Boston summer.

“I lived in Florida for 14 years and I moved back because the humidity was just too much,” Howard tells pulmonologist Mary Rice, as he settles into an exam room chair at a Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare clinic.

Howard, who is 57, has COPD, a progressive lung disease that can be exacerbated by heat and humidity. Even inside a comfortable, climate-controlled room, his oxygen levels worry Rice. Howard reluctantly agrees to try using portable oxygen. He’s resigned to wearing the clear plastic tubes looped over his ears and inserted in his nostrils. He assures Rice he has an air conditioner and will stay inside on really hot days. The doctor and patient agree that Howard should take his walks in the evenings to be sure that he gets enough exercise without overheating.

Then Howard turns to Rice with a question she didn’t encounter in medical school: “Can I ask you: Last summer, why was it so hot?”

Rice, who studies air pollution, is ready.

“The overall trend of the hotter summers that we’re seeing [is] due to climate change,” Rice says, “and with the overall upward trend, we’ve got the consequences of climate change.”

Some societies provide patient handouts that explain related health risks. But none have guidelines that explain how providers should talk to patients about climate change. There is no concrete list of “dos” — as in wear a seat belt, use sunscreen, and get exercise — or “don’ts” — as in don’t smoke, don’t drink too much and don’t text while driving.

The should stick with medicine and not junk science

“I have to be honest about the science and the threat that is there, and it is quite alarming,” Basu says.

So alarming that Basu says he often refers patients to counseling. Psychiatrists concerned about the effects of climate change on mental health say there are no standards of care in their profession yet. They suggest a response must be tailored for each patient, but some common responses are emerging.

And, of course, the nutso factor shows up. Surprise?

Democrats Might Want To Rethink Endorsements From AOC’s Brat Pack

Actually, no, no, get their endorsements, because it’ll work as well as Obama endorsing Democrats (via Twitchy)

Huh

(Daily Wire) A new internal Democrat poll in swing districts released on Sunday showed that socialist Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) are extremely unpopular and that they may cost the Democratic Party the presidency and the House in 2020.

“Ocasio-Cortez was recognized by 74% of voters in the poll; 22% had a favorable view,” Axios reported. “Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota — another member of The Squad — was recognized by 53% of the voters; 9% (not a typo) had a favorable view.”

“Socialism was viewed favorably by 18% of the voters and unfavorably by 69%,” Axios added, whereas “capitalism was 56% favorable; 32% unfavorable.”

The firm that conducted the poll gave the results to Axios on the condition that it not be named because it works “with all parts of the party.”

A top Democrat involved in the 2020 congressional races told Axios: “If all voters hear about is AOC, it could put the [House] majority at risk. [S]he’s getting all the news and defining everyone else’s races. Socialism is toxic to these voters.”

Remember, AOC isn’t even polling well in her own district. But, hey, Democrats, keep trotting her and the other members of the America hating Brat Pack out. Of course, the older Democrats created this monster with their ever increasing hardcore leftism, their Bush Derangement Syndrome in the early 2000’s, their cult of personality under Obama, controlling the schools at all levels and teaching far, far leftism. Their chickens are coming home to roost.

Surprise: Green New Deal Could Skyrocket Gas To $13 A Gallon

And destroy the economy. No big deal, right? Of course, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seems to have no care to actually get her Green New Deal passed, and flipped out when the GOP controlled Senate voted on it, so, there is that. Though, the same hyper-far left folks who wrote the GND resolution are supposedly crafting legislation, which has zero chance of passing

AOC’s Green New Deal would boost gas tax $10-$13, ‘destroy economy’

The socialistic Green New Deal, pushed by New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and winning broad support from Democratic presidential candidates could lead to a $10 increase on a single gallon of gas, according to a new study of the so-called “carbon tax” and the liberal bid to rid vehicles that burn fossil fuels.

The CO2 Coalition’s study, mostly focused on the government’s effort to assign an environmental price on the future “Social Cost of Carbon,” also looked at the ultimate goal of liberals to rid gas-powered autos, key to the Green New Deal.

Executive Director Caleb S. Rossiter said the study calculated what it would cost to get people to trade their gas-powered cars for electric vehicles.

“Obviously we are not going to martial law, so how do you get people to switch?” he said. “They’re not going to grab your car by force, so you have to discourage the use.”

The result: A $10 per gallon gas tax and final price of some $13, or about the cost of shifting to EVs, about $2,700. “That is the economic breaking point of driving gas-powered cars,” he said.

He plans to explain his findings from the report, titled The Social Cost of Carbon and Carbon Taxes ‘Pick a number, any number’ Monday at a noon to 1:30 p.m. event in Room 385 of the Russell Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill.

Considering that polls have shown that the majority of U.S. citizens refuse to pay even $10 extra a month for Hotcoldwetdry, this won’t go very far, eh? Plus, hybrids typically have lower resale values than standard vehicles. Go try and lease one. Without massive back-end money from the manufacturer the lease will be very expensive since the residual value is so low. Even an incredibly low money factor (the equivalent of the APR for financing) will only help so much.

Rossiter said that such a high tax “would destroy the economy” and ignore the benefits of carbon in the atmosphere, a key argument of the CO2 Coalition.

Well, fortunately, Warmist supporting the GND also now want a carbon tax

How should we fight climate change? The most progressive Democrats say the answer is something like the Green New Deal, a massive government program aimed at reorienting American society. A more traditionally conservative answer is something like a carbon tax, making greenhouse gases more expensive and letting the market sort it out.

But for some Democrats, either one — or even better, both — will do.

A recent proposal for a carbon tax by Democratic Rep. Ted Deutch of Florida and supported by a group called Citizens’ Climate Lobby has attracted more than 50 co-sponsors, including nearly 30 House Democrats who also back the Green New Deal.

“I’m for anything and everything that moves the ball forward,” says Democratic Rep. Salud Carbajal of California, who supports both the Green New Deal and a carbon tax. “What the carbon pricing legislation does is move forward the only significant bipartisan legislation that seems to be out there.”

He’s for anything except giving up his own use of fossil fuels and making his life carbon neutral. Hosing your cost of living? He and the rest are good with that.

Chicago’s New Mayor Explains Why She Won’t Assist ICE Capture Illegals Ordered Deported By Federal Judges

New Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot is taking over on-track from old mayor Rahm Emanuel, and perfectly explains the Open Borders position. Perhaps she should be more concerned with the high levels of violence in her city (7 dead, at least 31 shot this weekend) rather than spending oodles of money protecting illegal aliens

Why Chicago police will not assist ICE in its raids

Dear President Trump,

On Friday, I ordered my city’s police department not to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on any activities within the city of Chicago and not to allow ICE agents access to our police databases.

These actions cut off ICE access to the Chicago Police Department’s databases and prevent the department from facilitating raids, setting traffic perimeters for ICE checkpoints, or otherwise aiding ICE in arrest or deportation activities. Our law department issued new specific protocols advising all personnel working at city-owned facilities, including libraries, Park District buildings, senior centers and schools, not to cooperate with ICE. And we significantly increased funding for the city’s legal defense fund to offset legal costs for undocumented Chicagoans.

Meanwhile, the streets are dirty, violence is rampant, and, she, like Emanuel and previous mayors, wants to take away guns from law abiding Americans. So, protect lawbreakers, go after those engaged in legal Constitutional rights.

We can all agree that our current immigration system is broken. We must do better — both for our residents and for those who come to our borders. Comprehensive, humane immigration reform can and must be a bipartisan imperative. Yes, we need reasonable border security — but we must achieve it in ways consistent with our values and our history as a country built and nurtured by immigrants.

She never lays out what she considers “reasonable border security.” What would it be? Because these Open Borders advocates seem to say no to everything.

There are approximately 180,000 undocumented people living in the city of Chicago, working, riding the public transportation system, sending their kids to public schools and attending City Colleges. Every day, when I talk to immigrants, asylum seekers and advocates, what I hear is fear, confusion and anxiety. Fear of families being separated, confusion about the scope of their rights and anxiety that the next knock on the door, the next traffic stop could irreparably upset the lives they have built for themselves in our city.

If you haven’t broken the law you shouldn’t be concerned with a traffic stop. And she sure sounds like she’s violating 8 US Code 1324, which is about protecting illegal aliens.

The threats and realities of stepped-up enforcement have not had the deterrent effect you intended, because the people you are targeting are not actually the problem. They came to the United States in search of a better life, free from violence, crushing poverty and oppressive governments that restrict their basic rights. They work in our local businesses, they build and repair our streets, buildings and other infrastructure. They are our neighbors, they are our family members, they are part of our community. They contribute to our economy in meaningful ways. Countless business organizations attest to this fact.

They came illegally, the take jobs from citizens, they deflate wages, they commit crimes, and so many seem to want America to give them stuff free while not really liking the U.S. And if they’re repairing our streets, that means they are working for government, so Mayor Lightfoot is in violation of numerous federal statutes that restrict the hiring of illegal aliens.

Any such efforts by ICE in our city will be met with fierce resistance from Chicagoans who have been organizing tirelessly in their communities, and with an unshakable resolve to stand with, and never against, our immigrant neighbors.

Again, the illegals in question were ordered out by federal judges after they had exhausted all legal means, and they could leave voluntarily or by being picked up and deported. Perhaps it’s time to change the system, so that after the last hearing the illegal is immediately detained and deported, since they never seem to leave on their own. Also, Mayor Lightfoot is advocating for citizens to impede federal agents engaged in lawful federal judicial orders, and telling others to do the same, also a violation of federal code.

As mayor of a wonderful, diverse and uniquely American city, I carry these children’s stories with me because I have met them, heard their testimonials and looked directly into their tear-filled eyes. I urge you again, Mr. President, to find your conscience before you do further damage to the lives of these children and families, and to the standing and respect our country has enjoyed in the world.

Funny how Democrats weren’t quite as concerned when Obama was deporting even ore illegals. Also, remember, 7 dead, at least 31 shot in Lightfoot’s Chicago.

Too Bad: Lufthansa CEO Sees No “Greta Effect” On People Taking Fossil Fueled Flights

Wait, you mean that people, including those yammering about climate doom from the use of fossil fuels, aren’t giving up flying? Huh

Lufthansa CEO sees no ‘Greta Effect’ on passenger numbers

German airline Lufthansa (LHAG.DE) expects passenger numbers to rise about 4% this year, its chief executive told a newspaper, playing down talk that public support for teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg might be curbing air travel.

“At this time we don’t see restraint – in fact, the opposite,” Carsten Spohr told the NZZ am Sonntag newspaper in the interview published on Sunday.

“In comparison to last year, already a record year, we’re expecting passenger growth of about 4 percent, (Lufthansa unit) Swiss International Air Lines is also showing growth. The discussion of climate change is not leading to restraint with bookings. People want to fly.”

Media reports have suggested a “Greta effect” might curb demand for air travel, referring to the 16-year-old who has gained global attention for her efforts to convince people to reduce carbon-emitting activities.

How would Warmists get to all their conferences without fossil fueled flights, as well as quick hops to other countries for vacations?

On Saturday, a group of about 80 protesters staged a “Flight Strike” at Zurich Airport near the facilities of Swiss International Air Lines, singing songs, handing out leaflets, and encouraging people to pledge not to fly in 2020.

And were all roundly ignored by sane people. They should give this a shot in Santiago, Chile, where the United Nations will hold their Conference on the Parties Hotcoldwetdry meeting in December. Protest all those coming in on fossil fueled flights (which will be the vast majority).

At the end of the day, most do not not care about Doing Something about the climate change scam in practice.
