CNN Decides To Mainstream Notion That Puerto Rico Earthquakes Are Linked To ‘Climate Change’

Puerto Rico has been experiencing lots and lots and lots of earthquakes over the last week. They had a big 5.9 Saturday. Here’s just one view of what is going on

Remember, Warmists are blaming/linking the earthquakes to anthropogenic climate change (much like Warmists have done with other earthquakes). So, let’s go to CNN where they are always looking for responsible journalism and opinions, never hysterical and cultish

In Puerto Rico, quakes worsen climate of fear

(the headline above is from front page. It has gone through several changes. The one on the single page is “Puerto Ricans need new words to show what’s at stake”)

On Saturday morning the earth shook from under my elderly mother’s feet in Ponce for the nearly one thousandth time — the earth has not stopped shaking since the early morning of December 28. Since then, according to Puerto Rico’s Seismic Network, there have been nearly 1,000 tremors and aftershocks, the largest one slamming the southern region on Tuesday and registering 6.4 on the Richter scale. Tuesday’s quake — which locals are calling El Grande — came a day after a 5.8 magnitude quake struck Monday morning. That same morning, Paul Earle of the US Geological Survey (USGS) told David Begnaud in an interview on “CBS This Morning” that the estimated chance of another big earthquake happening at 3%. On Saturday, another earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 rocked Puerto Rico, according to the US Geological Survey.

The back-to-back natural disasters — earthquakes and hurricanes — that have hit the Caribbean island of my birth in just over two years have left many residents there anxious, sad, stressed out, confused, irritated, and exhausted. And also, asking questions. They are wondering if man-made events are the reason why the earth is literally coming apart under their feet, threatening the very ground they walk on.

“It’s crazy,” a friend texts me in the middle of the night from her home near San Juan. “It’s like we’ve entered some kind of porthole, loop, an alternative reality, an aberration of reality … so many crazy things going on and increasing in intensity. I’m concerned fracking is the result. We are being dismissed as crazy.”

Both the US Department of Energy and the USGS have denied rumors of fracking on the island in statements to the media. But after the treatment the island of Puerto Rico has received by the US government, especially under the Trump administration — but also extending back decades across administrations of both parties — no one could rightfully question the skepticism or the raw power of fear held by people who live there.

No one could rightfully question! Except everyone who understands Real Science rather than Cult of Climastrology science. Heck, after highlighting this cult Hottake, opinion writer Sandra Guzman, notes something real

The island residents I’m in touch with are particularly questioning if rigs they have photographed and observed near areas where new gas and petroleum was found a few miles off fault lines — Lajas Valley, Montalva Point, and the Guayanilla Canyon — could be causing unusual seismic events. The quakes are happening a few miles off the southern coast as the North American plate and the Caribbean Plate squeeze Puerto Rico. Literally.

Yes, literally. Perhaps the government run education system should teach more in the way of science rather than gender confusion, anal sex, Protesting, and being a social justice warrior. Anyhow, regarding the new words, let’s look

Geologists and social media journalists have used their networks to calm the public and dismiss the connection. People in Puerto Rico are asking questions because they don’t buy the answers they’ve been given by geologists and others. They’ve coined a new word for those who refuse to stop questioning, conspira-noicos, two Spanish words that form a combination of conspiracy and paranoid.

So, they’re questioning people involved in a hard science by invoking a new word for their climate cult beliefs. And then

Locals in the region say they are under attack by energy colonialists. Energy colonialists is another term they have coined to describe the 21st century battle for the billion-dollar gas industry on the southern part of island. It’s playing out now in a toxic mix of tremors, tsunami warnings, and confusion. Roughly two-thirds of the island has been in the dark, without power, a situation that only breeds more exhaustion and fear. Even as the power begins to come back on for some, for many the fear will linger.

SJWs

Language continues to be expanded by Puerto Ricans and Puerto Ricans will continue to create new words to describe just how much is at stake in the era of climate emergency when words in the dictionary are not enough.

Good grief. There is not climate emergency, and earthquakes are not being caused by man-induced climate change, nor are they linked.

Feeling Unhinged Over ‘Climate Change’? Here’s How You Can Manage It Or Something

My personal recommendation would be to either give up your own use of fossil fuels, technology, grow your own food, live in a tiny off the grid home, make your own clothes, etc. Or, pull yourself out of the Cult of Climastrology, like people have done by escaping Scientology

Feeling distressed about climate change? Here’s how to manage it

Climate change is often framed as a scientific or technical issue. But for many, it’s an emotional one too.

It can be almost unbearable to witness entire towns obliterated by wildfires and islands leveled by storms. To see photos of koala bears singed by flames and dead seabirds washing ashore by the thousands. Or to read the latest confirmation that nations are woefully underperforming on their pledges to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

“It hits you in the heart before it hits you in the head,” said Jennifer Atkinson, a senior lecturer in environmental humanities at the University of Washington in Bothell.

Our reactions to these grim facts take many forms, including sadness, despair, hopelessness, anger and anxiety.

These are often manifestations of a deeper grief brought about by climate change. Experts say the phenomenon is growing , and it’s something we have to confront.

“We don’t want to get stuck in the space of grief forever,” Atkinson said. But “the ability to move forward is predicated on the ability to acknowledge losses and to openly grieve.”

In the past, people blamed the gods. Or witches. Now they blame trace amounts of “carbon pollution” from Other People.

The first step, she said, is to give yourself permission to feel whatever you are feeling, even if it seems silly or overblown, and to honor it.

“The message we get is that our grief is somehow deviant,” she said. But grief is a normal, healthy response to loss, examples of which are easy to find in a warming world.

But, it is deviant. Loony tunes. Bats in the belfry. It’s getting upset over a scam. But, hey, we can burn some witches if that will make them feel better.

The rest of the article is just as silly. Have a good laugh reading it.

Surprise: Aussie Firefighter Charged With Setting 17 Blazes

Remember, though, this is all caused by Hotcoldwetdry, not arson, according to Warmists

So, definitely climate change, right?

(UK Sun) AN AUSTRALIAN firefighter has been charged with deliberately starting 17 wildfires while on bail for alleged sex offences.

The unnamed man – who was working with the Darwin River unit in the country’s Northern Territory – was linked to 17 blazes by cops investigating suspicious bushfires.

The man, 27, was linked to the fires thanks to an ankle tag he was wearing as part of bail conditions for alleged sex offences.

Australian detectives investigating suspicious bushfires, as part of Operation Paringa, arrested the man following a raid on his house on Tuesday.

His lawyers argued all the evidence was circumstantial, and he has a girlfriend!

But on Wednesday, a judge refused his application for bail after receiving 33 pages of alleged facts compiled from data collected by his tracking device.

Funny how so many people have been arrested for starting the fires when they were supposed to be caused by ‘climate change’, eh? Of course, the Warmists are starting to now say that ‘climate change’ has created the conditions for bad fires and made them worse.

St. Greta Says She Will Tell Rich People At Davos To Give Up On Fossil Fueled Economy

And she, along with other climate cult kids, will stomp their feet till this is done

At Davos we will tell world leaders to abandon the fossil fuel economy

We have just entered a new decade, a decade where every month and every day will be absolutely crucial in deciding what the future will look like. Towards the end of January, chief executives, investors and policymakers will gather in Davos for the 50th anniversary of the World Economic Forum.

Young climate activists and school strikers from around the world will be present to put pressure on these leaders.

We demand that at this year’s forum, participants from all companies, banks, institutions and governments immediately halt all investments in fossil fuel exploration and extraction, immediately end all fossil fuel subsidies and immediately and completely divest from fossil fuels.

We don’t want these things done by 2050, 2030 or even 2021, we want this done now – as in right now.

When your 11 year old, OK, 16, but she looks 11, demands you Do Something right now, do you accede to their demands or ground them? Why, exactly, should we listen to a child who is blowing off her education?

The world of finance has a responsibility to the planet, the people and all other species living on it. In fact, it ought to be in every company and stakeholder’s interest to make sure the planet they live on will thrive. But history has not shown the corporate world’s willingness to hold themselves accountable. So it falls on us, the children, to do that. We call upon the world’s leaders to stop investing in the fossil fuel economy that is at the very heart of this planetary crisis. Instead, they should invest their money in existing sustainable technologies, research and in restoring nature. Short-term profit should not trump long-term stability of life.

Well, good luck with this, St. Greta. Fossil fuels are an inexpensive energy source which have made people’s lives much better. You don’t like them? Don’t use them. Stop attempting to be a Fascist and mucking with people’s lives for your beliefs. Oh, and let your fellow youths know that they won’t be able to get their smartphones anymore, because they won’t be able to be shipped, they can’t travel to take selfies, coffee from around the world won’t be available, good luck getting avocados, etc.

The theme of this year’s gathering in Davos is “stakeholders for a cohesive and sustainable world”. According to the forum’s website, leaders will meet to discuss ideas and improve our global progress on climate change. Our request to them is perhaps not so far-fetched considering that they say they understand and prioritise this emergency. Anything less than immediately ceasing these investments in the fossil fuel industry would be a betrayal of life itself. Today’s business as usual is turning into a crime against humanity. We demand that leaders play their part in putting an end to this madness. Our future is at stake, let that be their investment.

Pelosi Blinks, Says Will Send Impeachment Theater To Senate Next Week

Republicans not only do not seem concerned about dealing with Impeachment Theater, they seem to be looking forward to it, which could be why Queen Nancy was holding on to the impeachment referral

Pelosi set to send impeachment articles to the Senate next week

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Friday that she expects to send the articles of impeachment against President Trump over to the Senate next week, breaking the standoff that had delayed the trial over his dealings with Ukraine.

The move, which came amid increasing pressure on the Speaker to drop her hold on the articles, means Democrats will move forward in appointing impeachment managers who will make their case that Trump committed high crimes and misdemeanors in Phase Two of the trial, which will weigh whether the president should be removed from office.

“I have asked Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler [D-N.Y.] to be prepared to bring to the Floor next week a resolution to appoint managers and transmit articles of impeachment to the Senate,” Pelosi wrote in a letter to Democrats.

“I will be consulting with you at our Tuesday House Democratic Caucus meeting on how we proceed further,” she added.

Be prepared. Uh huh. Is anyone thinking that she and Nadler might find an excuse to not transmit them over?

The announcement comes more than three weeks after the House passed two articles of impeachment, largely along party lines, alleging that Trump abused his power while pressuring the Ukrainian government to investigate his political opponents and obstructed Congress in Democrats’ inquiry.

Remember, it was uber-important, democracy saving, that the House vote to impeach Trump. Then, crickets afterwards, as they were trying to demand the how’s of any Senate trial. Just like Republicans had zero power in the House, Democrats have zero power in the Senate

But Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) held firm in his stance that any decisions on witnesses should come after the Senate trial begins, in what he described as the same standard for former President Clinton’s impeachment trial in 1999.

McConnell deflated much of Pelosi’s leverage earlier this week when he announced that he had enough votes within his GOP conference to vote to begin the trial without acceding to Democrats’ demands to commit to witness testimony first.

Perhaps we’ll get to hear from the so-called whistleblower. People, including the President, have the Constitutional Right to face their accusers.

Here’s How You Can Stop Freaking About ‘Climate Change” And Solve It Or Somthing

When you’ve been convinced by cultists that everything is doomed and realize you’re a climahypocrite, what do you do? Fortunately, Warmists Emma Marris (who would like you to buy her book), is here to help you

How to Stop Freaking Out and Tackle Climate Change

You are scrolling through the news and see yet another story about climate change.

Australia is on fire. Indonesia is drowning. At the same time, Donald Trump is trying to make it easier to build new fossil-fuel projects.

As you read, your chest tightens and a sense of dread washes over you, radiating out from your heart. You feel anxious, afraid and intensely guilty. Just this morning, you drove a gasoline-powered car to work. You ate beef for lunch. You booked a flight, turned on the heat, forgot your reusable grocery bags at home. This is your fault.

It really is, but, Emma will excuse you with her 5 steps

Step 1: Ditch the shame.

The first step is key to all the rest. Yes, our daily lives are undoubtedly contributing to climate change. But that’s because the rich and powerful have constructed systems that make it nearly impossible to live lightly on the earth. Our economic systems require most adults to work, and many of us must commute to work in or to cities intentionally designed to favor the automobile. Unsustainable food, clothes and other goods remain cheaper than sustainable alternatives.

See? It’s the fault of The Rich, so, you go ahead with your big carbon footprint lifestyle

Step 2: Focus on systems, not yourself. (snip)

My point is that the climate crisis is not going to be solved by personal sacrifice. It will be solved by electing the right people, passing the right laws, drafting the right regulations, signing the right treaties — and respecting those treaties already signed, particularly with indigenous nations. It will be solved by holding the companies and people who have made billions off our shared atmosphere to account.

Totally not political at all, right?

Anti-Semite Ilhan Omar Tries To Explain Difference Between BDS And Sanctions On Iran

Jew and Israel hater Ilhan Omar is a big fan of the BDS movement, not so much with sanctions on the Islamist nation of Iran, which is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American soldiers over the past 15 years

Ilhan Omar lies about BDS to explain why she supports sanctions on Israel but not Iran

Rep. Ilhan Omar has resorted to lying in a desperate attempt to explain how she could support the boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement against Israel while expressing deep opposition to sanctions on Iran.

As Kaylee McGhee detailed earlier, Omar lashed out at President Trump’s policy of applying “maximum pressure” on Iran through tightened sanctions. “Sanctions are economic warfare,” she fumed.

Yet the statement was particularly incredible coming from Omar, who has been one of the most prominent supporters of the BDS movement. She clearly has no problem sanctioning an American ally, yet she has major qualms about sanctioning the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism.

Asked about the double standard by Townhall on Thursday, Omar said, “The BDS movement is a movement that is driven by the people. The sanctions on Iran are sanctions that are being placed to create maximum pressure by a government. That’s very different.”

While it’s true that the “B” aspect of the BDS movement involves private boycotts of Israel, the “S” refers to the ultimate goal of the movement: getting governments to slap sanctions on Israel.

You don’t have to take this from me. Just check out the website of the Palestinian BDS National Committee, which is the coalition of Palestinian organizations that leads BDS efforts.

BDS is all about sanctioning every part of Israel, and is, at it’s root, anti-Jew

It’s impossible to believe that Omar doesn’t understand that government-driven sanctions are the ultimate goal of the BDS movement. The only way the situations are “very different” is that Israel is a Jewish state and Iran has threatened to wipe the Jewish state off the map. And, for an anti-Semite like Omar, that’s the distinction that matters.

Israel is not without faults, but, it is the only democratic nation in the region. They are allies. Iran consistently holds rallies calling for death to the U.S. and death to Israel. Who, really, is surprised that Omar has taken this stance? Remember, she introduced a pro-BDS resolution in the House, which was like “boycotting Nazis”. The House then went on a few days later to pass a resolution against BDS, 398-17. Don’t forget, the cofounder of the BDS movement, who is barred from entry into the U.S., is a Jew hater, and that is really the point of the BDS movement.

Oregon Democrats To Give Their ‘Climate Change’ Legislation A Whirl Yet Again

It didn’t work out too well for them the last time, and now they seem to have crafted legislation that satisfies no one

Oregon Dems ready to unveil new climate change legislation

Eager to avoid the acrimony and Republican walkouts that temporarily paralyzed the end of last year’s legislative session, Oregon lawmakers have been busy crafting a new version of their climate change policy in hopes of passing it in the 35-day session that begins Feb. 3.

From Democrats’ perspective, the proposal includes significant concessions to appease critics who claimed the bill would be a disaster for rural Oregon; that it threatened the viability of some of the state’s biggest industrial employers; and that backers were trying to ram a bill through on party lines while ignoring Republican input.

There are already signs, however, that Republicans will continue to satisfy their rural base on the issue. Sen. Fred Girod, R-Stayton, who was invited by Senate President Peter Courtney’s office to contribute to the new concept, said he has abandoned the effort, adding that the concessions “are all fake,” and that he was disgusted by the process.

Climate change activists, meanwhile, worry that backers of the bill overreacted to criticism and so fundamentally diluted the program that it may be worse than doing nothing at all. They also worry a weakened bill would disqualify Oregon from linking its proposed carbon cap and trade market with California’s – a feature of last year’s bill designed to lower costs and keep the program uniform across state lines.

Backers acknowledge that they’ve had to water down the legislation in hopes of getting it passed. But they say the proposal maintains the same emissions caps and will generate the desired pollution reductions in the same time period as last year’s failed House Bill 2020. Senate backers plan to unveil Legislative Concept 19 for their colleagues at a hearing Monday, and stress that it’s a work in progress.

That would be next Monday when we get to see what their little plan is. But, see, those darned rural voters are getting in the way of Fascism, er, progress

“We got the message there was fear out there around HB 2020, particularly in rural areas,” said Sen. Michael Dembrow, D-Portland, chair of the Senate Environment and Natural Resources Committee and co-chair of the Joint Carbon Reduction Committee. “I believe those fears would not have come to pass, that there would have been more benefits than difficulties for rural parts of the state. But we took those fears seriously and addressed them in these changes.”

Here’s an idea: make the Hotcoldwetdry legislation only apply to the cities and areas that vote Democrat. See how they like this in practice

The broad framework of HB 2020 remains in place. That means the bill would establish a gradually declining cap on statewide carbon dioxide emissions. It would also require polluters from the transportation fuels, utility and industrial sectors to acquire “allowances” to cover every metric ton of their emissions. As the supply of those allowances declines over time, the theory goes, the price of allowances will go up and force polluters to clean up — by electrifying transportation, building more wind and solar farms or adopting more efficient production technology.

Or, businesses just leave and go to another state.
