Washington Post: Proclaiming Trump Victorious On Iran Is Shortsighted Or Something

The Washington Post Editorial Board is just continuing the media policy of slamming Trump and not slamming Iran, because Orange Man Bad

Proclaiming Trump victorious in Iran is shortsighted and premature

THE ESCALATING confrontation between the United States and Iran paused on Wednesday, which, as President Trump put it, “is a good thing for all parties concerned.” Having demonstrated that it can strike Iraqi bases where U.S. troops are deployed with precision, Iran announced that it had “concluded” its response to the killing of Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani; Mr. Trump, reporting that no Americans were killed or injured by Tehran’s missiles, set aside the sweeping attacks he had threatened on 52 sites inside Iran.

Mr. Trump’s acolytes quickly proclaimed him victorious for having eliminated the architect of Iran’s foreign adventurism while avoiding a more damaging response. That assessment was premature and shortsighted. Iran’s strikes on U.S. interests and allies will almost certainly continue in the coming months. Unless the Trump administration quickly steps up its diplomatic game, what Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called his ultimate aim — the removal of the United States from the Middle East — could soon be realized in Iraq and Syria.

Um, I’m betting most who aren’t deranged Trump haters, like the WPEB, are glad Trump whacked Suleimani, a man with the blood of hundreds of Americans on his hands. A guy who was a big part of the whole “death to America” crowd in the Iranian Islamist government. A guy who liked to torture children and women. Killing him is rather victorious, in the same way as killing Osama Bin Laden. I don’t remember the WPEB chiding Obama and his acolytes for spiking the football when Obama had him whacked, do you? Most Americans, right and left, celebrated it. They didn’t take the side of al Qaeda and the hardcore Islamists around the world.

But, Orange Man Bad, so, the WPEB has to push ahead with taking Iran’s side. See, we should be talking to them, giving them billions and billions in cash, removing sanctions which allows Iran more money for their anti-American, anti-Israel, hardcore Islamist operations, and allw them to normalize relations. Maybe a deal which would provide them help to build nuclear weapons in 5-10 years

Mr. Trump ought to embrace the pause in hostilities as an opportunity to begin serious negotiations with the Islamic republic. That is the course favored not only by a majority of Americans but also by Mideast allies such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar, which have been pressing for restraint. Though he nodded to the idea, saying the United States was “ready to embrace peace,” Mr. Trump also said he would intensify already-massive sanctions on Iran. That campaign of “maximum pressure” has failed to bring about the new nuclear negotiations Mr. Trump says he wants, much less the regime collapse or capitulation his more hawkish advisers hope for. But it virtually ensures that Iranian responses like last year’s attacks on Persian Gulf shipping and Saudi oil fields will continue.

Iran has been the prime aggressor against the U.S. since 1979. What, exactly, are we to negotiate on? They really gave up nothing for Obama’s little deal. And were violating the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action within a year of signing it.

But, hey, Orange Man Bad. Democrats and their pet media should consider that all this support of Iran will show up on the campaign trail. It may not have been Trump’s intention to create a political issue, but, he has one now.

Gizmado Warmist: The Aussie Fires Aren’t Arson (except for all the arsonists)

You know the Narrative is in danger when Warmists go off the rails, as witnessed by Gizmado’s Brian Khan

It’s Not Arson, You Absolute Fucking Morons

Australia’s bushfires are a bright red warning sign that the climate crisis is most definitely upon us and worse lies ahead if we don’t curb carbon pollution. That also makes them a bright red warning sign for a disinformation campaign about their causes for anyone looking to maintain the status quo.

After months of hell, coverage of the bushfires has penetrated mainstream conversation around the globe with an uptick in Google search interest, news stories, and Twitter hashtags. Celebrities even used their time at the Golden Globes to outline the clear link between the fires and climate change. It’s an easy one to make since Australia just had its hottest year on record and many areas are going through a record drought as well, and research has shown climate change is already increasing the risk of fire weather in the Land Down Under. Some real Climate Science 101 stuff.

Where’s the proof of anthropogenic causation?

Yet over the past week, a counter-narrative has emerged that no, it’s not climate change. It’s arsonists and nefarious green groups who have pushed to stop back burns and controlled fires that reduce fire risk. While 183 arrests have been made in connection with fires, only 24 people have actually been charged with arson. As for the green group’s thing, that’s just trash as far as I can tell. As someone who had a tweet about the fires “doing numbers” this week, I can attest to hordes of accounts responding with some iteration of these two conspiracy theories or mashing them up to say it’s, in fact, environmentalists who did the arson (which is weird since I thought they made it so that nobody could light fires but OK whatever).

So, wait, people have been arrested and charged for setting fires? Weird. Remember, not all are intentional. Many fires are simply accidents. Many are accidents that could have been avoided. But, hey, this is your fault for that steak you ate the other day.

Good News: Liz Warren’s Campaign Is Super Alive Due To Selfies

Apparently, selfies are more important than poll numbers

Elizabeth Warren Defends Flagging Poll Numbers by Touting ‘100,000 Selfies’ Benchmark

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) defended her declining poll numbers on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Wednesday, by claiming that she’s taken over 100,000 selfies.

After being asked by Morning Joe co-anchor Willie Geist about her “slipped” support in the polls, Warren responded, “I should start out by saying I just don’t comment on polls and I actually don’t really look at them.”

“But I’ll tell you this. The best part of this whole year has been doing what I do, which is getting out and doing town halls. It’s reaching out to people. It’s reaching out to voters in New Hampshire and Iowa, but all across this country,” she declared. “Because I don’t spend time at closed-door fundraisers, I don’t spend a lot of time with billionaires and millionaires and corporate executives, it means I’ve had time to go all around the country. So I’ve been to 29 states and Puerto Rico. I’m closing in on 200 town halls. We’ve already shot past 100,000 selfies. And what that means is about reaching out to people, face to face, talking about the issues that matter to them.”

See? Selfies are more important than poll numbers, money to campaign, and such.

Give her credit, 53% of her funds come from donations of $200 or less. Almost 30%, though, comes from big donors. She’s received lots of money from Alphabet Inc (Google), Harvard, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, City of NY (why is a city spending taxpayer money like this?), IBM, Disney, and many other big big corporations.

But, you know, selfies.

St. Greta Is Totally Correct In Her “It’s Not About Me” Tweet Or Something

Forbes’ John Brandon is squeeing over a St. Greta of Stockholm tweet, and, you know what? I agree with his headline. But, for a different reason

Why Greta Thunberg Is Totally Correct In Her Latest Climate Change Tweet

“It’s not about me.”

That’s from a tweet by climate change activist Greta Thunberg today, and it’s absolutely true. It’s as true as anything she has ever said.

At the start of a new year, it’s a surprisingly refreshing attitude from the Time person of the year and a well-known advocate for the global crisis, at only 17-years-old.

The post arrived after the musician Meatloaf called out the activist as being “brainwashed” in an article that ran in the Daily Mail over the weekend.

“She has been brainwashed into thinking that there is climate change, and there isn’t,” he said. “She hasn’t done anything wrong, but she’s been forced into thinking that what she is saying is true.”

St. Greta responded

Brandon loves this

That’s a bold post because it is a departure from what we’ve seen from high-profile figures in the past, who are constantly claiming it is all about them.

Thunberg now has almost four million followers but is a regular figure on talk shows, news programs, and on social media.

What’s refreshing is to take a step back from the celebrity status and point back to the issue she is championing, and to also disarm detractors by relaying actual scientific facts. The chart she posted is quite alarming.

See, he loves it that she isn’t trying to make it about herself, not being narcissistic. He’s correct on the not making it about herself part, because she’s trying to shame governments into passing all sorts of laws, rules, and regulations that force Other People to live the life she demands they live. That Other People pay taxes and fees, along with restricting their freedom, liberty, and choice.

However, it’s commendable that someone on social media finally (finally) has tried to reorient the conversation back to the actual topic rather than constant trolling and name-calling.

Let’s ask: what does she actually know? Does she actually use her vast experience as a climate scientist to discuss the science? Oh, right, she’s a teenage girl who’s blowing off school, and has no degrees at all. In anything. Listen to her speeches. She actually tends to avoid any science. Her tweets post other people’s fear-mongering material. It’s always the Worst Possible (scam) Scenario with her.

Here’s the actual topic: prove that the minor temperature increase since 1850 is mostly/solely caused by the greenhouse gas output from the activities of Mankind.

Iran Launches Missiles Towards American Assets In Iraq, Kills No One, Calls It A “Slap In The Face”

Iran wants to get frisky after President Trump whacked Suleimani (a murderer, terrorist, guy who likes to torture children, among others), and launched some missiles to save face. No one was hurt, no one killed. Iran wants to beat its chest and play the tough guy, though

How Iran is responding after the missile attack

Iran fired more than a dozen ballistic missiles at two Iraqi military bases housing US troops early this morning local time.

In a televised address this morning, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that Iran gave the US “a slap in the face last night,” in reference to the attacks.

He added that America had cast Soleimani as a “terrorist,” which was “unjust and unfair.”

The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, an elite wing of the Iranian military, said in a statement that the attacks on Iraqi bases were “hard revenge” for the death of Soleimani. The IRGC said any country housing US troops could be subject to “hostile and aggressive acts” and called on American citizens to demand the government remove US troops from the region.

It warned the US:

“If you repeat your wickedness or take any additional movements or make additional aggression, we will respond with more painful and crushing responses.”

Iran knew better than to respond too strongly, because, at the end of the day, they are more the chihuahua in the park in terms of power. Yes, they growl a lot, and can bite your ankles, but Great Dane will just sit on them if they get too frisky. This was an attack, again, to save face.

Notice, though, that they are reaching out to U.S. citizens, meaning Democrats, to Do Something. At the end of the day, the Iranian leadership are not idiots, and they know Democrats will take Iran’s side in this kerfuffle. All they have to do is look around the left leaning media to see things like

Those are just two opinion pieces at the NY Times which take Iran’s side against the U.S. and the president. NBC, CBS, ABC News, they all are offering support. The Washington Post has wisely decided to end any pieces that appear to support Iran. But, there are enough who are termed Useful Idiots.

Puerto Rico Experiences Earthquakes, Can You Guess What Gets Blamed?

So, this happened

(WFTV) A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Puerto Rico early Tuesday, killing at least one person, injuring at least eight others and knocking out power across the island, according to multiple reports.

The quake, centered about 3 miles south-southwest of Tallaboa, occurred at 4:24 a.m. local time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor did not pose a tsunami risk, officials with the National Weather Service said in a Twitter post.

Several subsequent quakes followed, ranging from 3.7 to 5.6 in magnitude, the USGS reported.

Tuesday morning’s earthquake was the latest in a string of temblors reported on the island in recent days, according to Reuters. A 5.8 magnitude earthquake and a subsequent 5.1 magnitude aftershock struck the U.S. territory Monday, causing “small landslides,” damaging homes and knocking out power in some areas, according to the AP.

Yeah, I tried to ignore the idiocy on Monday, but, it has gotten so much worse

California Sort Of Maybe Unveils Their Own Green New Deal

I wonder if California’s version will never be voted on like the one submitted by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s, and if it is really less about ‘climate change’ and more about hardcore Progressive policies

New climate change initiative unveiled in Sacramento has far to go

California promises to remain a leader in the nation’s fight against climate change in 2020, starting the New Year with the launch of a statewide “Green New Deal.”

About a half dozen lawmakers gathered outside the Capitol building in Sacramento on Monday to unveil far-reaching legislation that seeks to create a thriving carbon-free economy while making sure California’s least fortunate residents benefit from the boom.

It presses for green jobs, affordable health care and debt-free education alongside, of course, a phasing-out of greenhouse gases.

“This is a big, ambitious bill, and it must be,” said Assemblyman Rob Bonta, D-Oakland, the primary author of the proposal, which he dubbed the California Green New Deal. “The danger of the climate crisis is limitless.”

The three-page bill, however, falls short of offering a clear path forward, remaining largely aspirational, and it doesn’t provide funding. Supporters will have to rely on follow-up legislation, which California is sure to have plenty of in 2020, to attain its objectives.

What, exactly, does free college education have to do with ‘climate change’? Besides, I though their cap and trade system and all the other legislation passed by the California general assembly fixed it all? No? It is apparently meant to fight homelessness, too. What I’m not finding is a link to the actual legislation or whatever it is.

You Can Feel The Climate Crisis In Every Day Of Weather Now Or Something

See, if it’s a warmer than average day, that’s the climate crisis. Same if a below average day. Or an average day. If it rains, doesn’t rain, snows, ices, sleets, windy, not windy, sunny, overcast, foggy, you name it, this is all your faul

The Climate Crisis Is Now Detectable in Every Single Day of Weather Across The Planet

The climate changes we humans have inflicted on the planet are now so deeply embedded, they are showing up in our daily weather.

Researchers from Switzerland and Norway now claim to have detected the “fingerprint” of climate change in every single day of weather in the global record since 2012.

The distinction between climate and weather is one that scientists have been hammering on about for years. And while the two are closely intertwined, they are generally considered distinct, with weather referring to short-term conditions and climate referring to longer trends.

Swiss climate scientist Reto Knutti told The Washington Post he’s not sure the difference is so distinct anymore.

“Weather is climate change if you look over the whole globe,” he argues.

That means weather on a local scale still doesn’t show a climate change signal. But if you roll these regions out into a global perspective, the variations in temperature and humidity do hold the stamp of humanity. And they are clearly distinguishable from what would happen naturally.

This is an attempt by the Cult of Climastrology to do away with their whole “weather is not climate” talking point. But, see, you don’t feel what you’ve done for eating a burger instead of going vegan and driving you car instead of walking 15 miles to work at a local level, but, you are killing the whole planet.

Of course, other Warmists are telling us that you can now feel ‘climate change’ in your backyard. That you can see it. Taste it. Touch it. It all goes to show that this is a cult, a pseudo religion, which will do and say anything to prop itself up.
