Pro-Hamas Demonstrators Turning To Pro-Hamas Al Jazeera For News On Gaza

Now, if it was Republicans turning to seriously hardcore news outlets, the NY Times would be apoplectic

Frustrated by Gaza Coverage, Student Protesters Turn to Al Jazeera

Nick Wilson has closely followed news on the war in the Gaza Strip since October. But Wilson, a Cornell University student, is picky when it comes to his media diet: As a pro-Palestinian activist, he doesn’t trust major U.S. outlets’ reporting on Israel’s campaign in Gaza.

Instead, he turns to publications less familiar to some U.S. audiences, such as the Arab news network Al Jazeera.

“Al Jazeera is the site that I go to to get an account of events that I think will be reliable,” he said.

Many student protesters said in recent interviews that they were seeking on-the-ground coverage of the war in Gaza, and often, a staunchly pro-Palestinian perspective — and they are turning to alternative media for it. There’s a range of options: Jewish Currents, The Intercept, Mondoweiss and even independent Palestinian journalists on social media, as they seek information about what is happening in Gaza.

Al Jazeera has always been a pro-Islamist and anti-Israel outlet. Jewish Currents is a very hard left Jewish outlet. The rest are simply Jew haters and supporters of Palestinians, who all fail to note that no Arab nation wants them because of their penchant for violence.

Their preferences embody a broader shift for members of Generation Z, who are increasingly seeking out news from a wider array of sources and questioning legacy outlets in a fragmented media ecosystem.

Israel’s recent ban on the local operations of Al Jazeera has only elevated the network’s status among many student protesters. They prize coverage from reporters on the ground, and Al Jazeera has a more extensive operation in Gaza than any other publication. Students also noted the sacrifices it has made to tell the story there. Two Al Jazeera journalists have died since the start of the war.

That’s because Al Jazeera has no harsh words for Hamas, designated a terrorist organization by the US, EU, and UN.

While many Western media outlets, with few if any journalists in Gaza before the war, have struggled to gain access to the territory, Al Jazeera has been recognized for its raw, searing portrayals of the death and destruction there. A typical report may show video of Israeli tanks rolling into cities, alongside drone shots of leveled buildings in Gaza City and Palestinians fleeing their homes.

In normal times the NY Times would note that Al Jazeera is providing propaganda for Hamas. And the kiddies are downloading the Al Jazeera app in huge numbers

Hussein Ibish, a senior resident scholar at the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington, described the network’s Arabic-language channel as more outwardly pro-Palestinian than the English one, which he said has a more subtle slant.

Critics say its coverage veers into support of the armed resistance to Israel. The Israeli government, which has accused Al Jazeera of acting as a “mouthpiece” for Hamas, last Sunday seized its broadcast equipment and shut down its operations in the country for at least 45 days.

The majority of people named in the article have names which would suggest that they support Islamic terrorist groups and hate Jews. If they were Republicans the Times would be calling them racists and terrorist supporters

The protesters rattle off a list of mainstream U.S. publications as having coverage they find objectionable, including CNN, The Atlantic, the BBC and The New York Times, among many others. Although major news outlets have reported extensively on Israel’s campaign in Gaza, the death toll and the damage, the coverage in the view of student protesters doesn’t assign enough blame to Israel for Palestinian deaths, or thoroughly fact-check Israeli officials. And they said protest coverage has focused too much on antisemitism on college campuses instead of Islamophobia.

The protesters are upset that Credentialed Media outlets are actually covering the Jew hatred and support of Hamas. Pretty wild to think with these outlets, eh?

Part of what doomed the network back then was “a distinctly anti-American bent” to its coverage, Ibish wrote in a 2016 guest essay for the Times. But now, broadcast from a different country, the network’s tone is finding its audience on university campuses, he said.

“There’s a third-worldist, anti-imperial point of view, and that’s also the view that many college kids have adopted,” he said.

They’re play-acting at being revolutionaries while going back to their dorm rooms and meal plans, having access to reliable water, clean clothes, electricity, then home to their parents homes when school is out. They wear their Intifada keffiyehs as fashion for the camera, having no understanding of their meaning. These students need to go to Gaza, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Yemen, etc. to see how well they are received with open arms by the people they advocate for so much, especially the women and LGBT folks. See how that goes.

Who’s Up For Floating Cities To Save Us From Sea Rise (that’s your fault)?

The NY Times, rather than investigating government, checking out wrong doing, protecting citizens from government, decides this is a better use of their time, because, they’re part of a cult

Are Floating Cities the Solution to Rising Seas?

Worldwide, rising sea levels and increasing urbanization represent a formula for disaster, with more and more people seeking to live on land that will, at some point, be swallowed up by the sea. But a futuristic-sounding solution — the construction of full cities on top of the water — is poised to become a reality.

One project in particular, off Busan, South Korea, is roping in a combination of high and low technology to create a large-scale, on-water town, which will be able to house more than 10,000 people.

Strictly defined, floating communities already exist in the Netherlands, Thailand and elsewhere in Southeast Asia. But these are typically clusters of houseboats moored close to one another. What sets the new concepts apart is a matter of scale. Rather than comprising an agglomeration of smaller vessels, each of these cities is designed to be built on enormous concrete platforms suspended on the water.

Weirdly, South Korea has plenty of unused land. But, really, if climate cultists were so concerned about sea rise they wouldn’t be moving to so many coastal areas. Nor would the Elites who like to buy beachfront homes, eh?

But, hey, surprisingly, ‘climate change’ in any form isn’t mentioned. Nor do they mention actual sea rise data. Most South Korean tide gauges are well below expected sea rise during a Holocene warm period. Some are about average. But, you know what? I think it would be great if climate cultists lived on floating cities. That’d keep them away from the non-cult people.

But, um, what happens when the Earth’s climate flips back into cooling? How do they survive?

Good News: Biden Admin Has Been Withholding Key Intelligence That Would Help Israel Defeat Hamas

With allies like this who needs enemies?

That top tweet continues:

Keeping Israel’s hostages kidnapped

Keeping Israel under threat of rocket attacks

Keeping Gazans endangered

Perpetuating the war ON PURPOSE.

Further, it kept U.S. hostages kidnapped. Rep. Corey Mills needs to add this to the articles of impeachment

U.S. cites intelligence, offers Israel supplies to limit Rafah operation

The Biden administration, working urgently to stave off a full-scale Israeli invasion of Rafah, is offering Israel valuable assistance in an effort to persuade it to hold back, including sensitive intelligence to help the Israeli military pinpoint the location of Hamas leaders and find the group’s hidden tunnels, according to four people familiar with the U.S. offers.

American officials have also offered to help provide thousands of shelters so Israel can build tent cities — and to help with the construction of delivery systems for food, water and medicine — so that Palestinians evacuated from Rafah can have a habitable place to live, said the officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity to disclose secret diplomatic talks.

President Biden and his senior aides have been making such offers over the past several weeks in hopes they will persuade Israel to conduct a more limited and targeted operation in the southern Gaza city, where some 1.3 million Palestinians are sheltering after fleeing there from other parts of Gaza under Israeli orders. Israel has vowed to go into Rafah with “extreme force,” and this week Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took a number of steps that raised fears at the White House that the long-promised invasion could be materializing.

So, the Biden admin has been sitting on this information and is essentially using it to protect terrorists. Israel could have used it weeks or months ago to minimize casualties and take out Hamas, which, in case no one told Biden, is a U.S. State Department designated terrorist organization. Perhaps Biden should be playing to his non-terrorist loving voters, eh? And

(NY Post) But Biden’s “f–k up” doesn’t end there. It also simultaneously undercuts America’s relationship with other allies who have new reason to worry they could be next on his hit list.

Can Saudi Arabia really trust an administration that mercilessly undercut America’s closest ally?

Should European allies be worried that they, too, will somehow run afoul of a White House that treats its enemies better than its friends?

Then there’s Ukraine, which has another reason to worry, while Russia and China must be delighted to see American weakness in action.

How do our allies take it? Can they actually trust the U.S.?

Suddenly, Reuters Is Upset That Pro-Hamas Agitators Are Being Named And Shamed

The pro-Hamas dhimmis, who are part of the leftist crew that is usually happy to name and shame those who oppose Leftist causes, aren’t particularly happy about it either

Name and shame: Pro-Israel website ramps up attacks on pro-Palestinian student protesters

unintended consequencesWeeks after attending a pro-Palestinian demonstration, Egyptian-American student Layla Sayed received a text message from a friend drawing her attention to a website dedicated to exposing people it says promote hatred of Jews and Israel.

“I think they found you from the protest,” the friend wrote.

When Sayed visited the site, called Canary Mission, she found a photo from the Oct. 16 rally at the University of Pennsylvania with red arrows pointing to her among the demonstrators. The post included her name, the two cities she lives in, details about her studies and links to her social media accounts.

Canary Mission later posted a photo of her on its X and Instagram accounts labeled “Hamas War Crimes Apologist,” a reference to the Palestinian militant group’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel in which around 1,200 people were killed and 253 taken hostage, according to Israeli tallies.

Bummer

Although Sayed has long supported Palestinian causes, she said it was the first time she had participated in a pro-Palestinian demonstration at Penn, and Canary Mission did not flag any other activities.

“My initial reaction was just absolute shock,” Sayed, a 20-year-old sophomore, told Reuters. “I wasn’t there to say I supported Hamas. I wasn’t there to say I hated Israel. I was there to say what’s happening in Palestine is wrong.”

She said she did not realize at the time that a chant Canary Mission took issue with, “When people are occupied, resistance is justified,” is considered by some as an expression of support for Hamas’ killings. She joined in the chants, she said, to show support for demonstrations.

First, why is she upset that she was exposed? She was in public, she took a public stand, and had no shame being there. Second, if you’re going to take up a chant it might be wise to understand what you are chanting. The context. The meaning. That’s on you, chump.

Canary Mission is one of the oldest and most prominent of several digital advocacy groups that have intensified campaigns to expose Israel’s critics since the war broke out, often leading to harassment such as Sayed experienced. The people behind the site have kept their identities, location and funding sources hidden.

Reuters reviewed online attacks and abusive messages directed at scores of people targeted by Canary Mission since Oct. 7.

The site has accused over 250 U.S. students and academics of supporting terrorism or spreading antisemitism and hatred of Israel since the start of the latest Gaza conflict, according to the Reuters review of its posts. Some are leading members of Palestinian rights groups or were arrested for offenses such as blocking traffic and punching a Jewish student. Others, like Sayed, said they had just stepped into campus activism and were not charged with any crimes.

Reuters is very upset that a group would do this. Doesn’t Canary Mission understand this right is reserved for the Credentialed Media and should only be used against those who go against Credentialed Media beliefs?

This is a very long piece, worth the read, and, it really just comes down to “if you’re chanting anti-Jew slogans, if you’re propagating material calling for the destruction of Israel and replacing it with a Palestinian caliphate state run by a terrorist organization, if you’re truly taking the side of Israel, and just being a Jew hater, calling for a global intifada, wearing an Intifada keffiyeh, well, that makes you a terrorist nation supporter and a believer in genocide of the Jews and should be exposed. You put yourself in the public arena, even if you tried to wear a mask to hide your extremist beliefs.”

Seriously, the First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech from interference by the government. It doesn’t guarantee that you can exercise this right without consequences. If you’ll notice, none of the people who wrote and signed the Bill Of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, or the Constitution hid their faces.

If the college students, who are adults, and the teachers do not know what they are wearing, chanting, and what their signs mean, well, that’s on them. You can bet if it was a bunch of Republican college kids agitating for a terrorist group Reuters would be working hard to expose them, just like with the J6 crowd.

UN Warns World On Edge Of Climate Abyss Or Something

Is there some big climate conference coming up? Usually the UN doesn’t make these dire prognostications of ruination unless there is a conference coming up. Or, it could be due to many polls showing that people are caring less about Doing Something because inflation is rocking the 1st world and the cost of food and everything is hurting their pocketbooks. Including energy, for which the climate scam actions are exasperating the costs

‘The stakes could not be higher’: world is on edge of climate abyss, UN warns

The world is on the verge of a climate abyss, the UN has warned, in response to a Guardian survey that found that hundreds of the world’s foremost climate experts expect global heating to soar past the international target of 1.5C.

A series of leading climate figures have reacted to the findings, saying the deep despair voiced by the scientists must be a renewed wake-up call for urgent and radical action to stop burning fossil fuels and save millions of lives and livelihoods. Some said the 1.5C target was hanging by a thread, but it was not yet inevitable that it would be passed, if an extraordinary change in the pace of climate action could be achieved.

The Guardian got the views of almost 400 senior authors of reports by the authoritative Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Almost 80% expected a rise of at least 2.5C above preindustrial levels, a catastrophic level of heating, while only 6% thought it would stay within the 1.5C limit. Many expressed their personal anguish at the lack of climate action.

If they have this much despair and anguish perhaps they should live a net zero life, and convince their climate cult brethren to do the same, and leave the rest of us the fuck alone. Stop trying to be Fascists, stop trying to get government to be Authoritarian, and practice what they preach

“The goal of limiting global warming to 1.5C is hanging by a thread,” said the official spokesperson for António Guterres, the UN secretary general. “The battle to keep 1.5C alive will be won or lost in the 2020s – under the watch of political and industry leaders today. They need to realise we are on the verge of the abyss. The science is clear and so are the world’s scientists: the stakes for all humanity could not be higher.”

I don’t usually curse when blogging, but, they can fuck right off.

Brandon’s DOJ Sues Iowa Over Illegal Alien Law

Remember the old debate around Arizona’s SB1070, the “show me your papers” law? In that, illegal alien supporters stated that state government’s could not be tougher than federal law. So, what’s the complaint with Iowa’s law, which essentially does what the federal government law does?

Iowa law lets police arrest migrants. The federal government and civil rights groups are suing

Americans before illegalsThe U.S. Justice Department sued Iowa on Thursday over its new law that would give the state the authority to arrest and deport some migrants, making it the second lawsuit filed in a single day that seeks to block legislation passed earlier this year by state lawmakers.

Both the Justice Department’s lawsuit and another suit filed by civil rights and immigrant rights groups argued the state law was preempted by federal law and should be declared invalid.

“Iowa cannot disregard the U.S. Constitution and settled Supreme Court precedent,” Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian M. Boynton, head of the Justice Department’s Civil Division, said in a statement. “We have brought this action to ensure that Iowa adheres to the framework adopted by Congress and the Constitution for regulation of immigration.”

The Justice Department lawsuit was filed on the same day the ACLU of Iowa, national ACLU and the American Immigration Council filed suit to to block the law on behalf of the Iowa Migrant Movement for Justice and two individual Iowans.

Iowa should send any illegal caught to the DOJ building in D.C. Drop some off outside Boynton’s house. And outside the buildings of the national ACLU and AIC. Let them all enjoy the fruits of their beliefs.

“This ugly law is deeply harmful to Iowa families and communities,” said Rita Bettis Austen, legal director of The American Civil Liberties Union of Iowa. “Iowa lawmakers knowingly targeted people who are protected by federal immigration laws and who are legally allowed to be here.”

Only about 10% will actually qualify for asylum. Many of them illegally crossed the border before declaring asylum. And how many are simply young, fighting age males, not women and children? What if Iowans do not want illegal aliens bringing their 3rd world values, their violence, drugs, crime, and prostitution? Let Biden ship them to states and cities that are declared illegal alien sanctuaries.

The federal lawsuit states that because the Constitution assigns the task of regulating immigration and managing international borders to federal government, the state law should not be enforced.

The law also states that Congress must protect the U.S. from invasion. They’re not doing the job. Democrats, and some squish Republicans, have created a situation where illegals are streaming into the U.S., and they usually aren’t the best people. Iowa should just deport the illegals to D.C., along with other sanctuary areas. Nothing illegal about deporting to another state, right? Why should Iowa have to deal with them? Why should their citizens have to deal with them? Why should the tax dollars of Iowa have to pay for them?

Hollywood Is Forgetting To Put ‘Climate Change’ In Movies Or Something

Hollywood is already having enough problems in putting out good movies that people want to see. People are leery about paying all the money to go see movies that can have all sorts of Woke garbage in them. And that the ideas are pretty repetitive. So, hey, yeah, let’s add climate cult business into it

Lights, camera … climate? Report finds Hollywood is depicting a world without climate change

Remember that scene in 2022?s “Top Gun: Maverick,” when Tom Cruise’s character suddenly has to navigate a climate change-fueled storm? Or in the latest “Scream” movie, when the teens are hiding from the killer in a field of solar panels?

No? Right, that’s because they never happened.

Across Hollywood, the most popular films from 2013 to 2022 largely ignored climate change, despite its growing presence across everyday life — from the effects (extreme weather) to the response to it (electric vehicles, solar panels, and more).

Researchers from Colby College and Good Energy, a nonprofit that helps storytellers portray climate change on-screen, put together a new report and devised what they’re calling a “Climate Reality Check,” similar to the Bechdel-Wallace Test, which assesses whether women get equal screen time. This test, however, asks: Does climate change, as a concept, exist in the film? And does a main character acknowledge it?

Only a small percentage of films passed the exam.

And what, pray tell, picture do they use for the article?

Yeah, they really included a frozen world from the Day After Tomorrow. Because heating causes an ice age.

“I can pretty confidently say that most major studios and networks and streamers are interested in this effort and exploring it,” said Ellis Watamanuk, senior director of the Entertainment Lab at Rare, an international conservation organization that focuses on behavioral science to push for change.

Watamanuk works with filmmakers and TV producers to think about creative ways to infuse climate change into their stories. The idea isn’t to churn out story upon story that’s explicitly about climate change, he said. Rather, it’s finding ways to infuse existing stories, from courtroom dramas to ghost-hunting reality shows, with storylines or examples of the realities of climate change confronting people.

Sigh. It always ends up blatant and has people giving Speeches, destroying the flow of the movie. But, hey, have fun watching your business dry up.
