Biden Regime Give Condolences To Iran On Death Of “Butcher Of Tehran”

I remember when Obama picked Biden for his “vast foreign policy experience.” I also remember when all the Leftists in the news media said Biden would bring sanity back the foreign policy of the United States. Here’s the latest example of how bad it is

Biden Admin Expresses ‘Official Condolences’ For Death Of Iranian President Who Was Dubbed The ‘Butcher Of Tehran’

The Biden administration on Monday expressed condolences for the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

Raisi and several Iranian regime officials were killed in a helicopter crash in northern Iran over the weekend. Raisi, known as the “Butcher of Tehran,” oversaw aggressive foreign policies that increased tensions with the West and authoritarian domestic policies to repress and abuse the Iranian population, whom he was deeply unpopular with.

“The United States expresses its official condolences for the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and other members of their delegation in a helicopter crash in northwest Iran,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statement on Monday. “As Iran selects a new president, we reaffirm our support for the Iranian people and their struggle for human rights and fundamental freedoms.”

“We regret any loss of life. We don’t want to see anyone die in a helicopter crash,” Miller told reporters on Monday.

Raisi was elected to the presidency in 2021 but had spent decades serving in various roles in the Iranian regime. As a prosecutor in 1988, Raisi was on a “death commission” panel responsible for ordering the execution of thousands of Iranian political prisoners, earning him the “Butcher” nickname. Raisi boasted of his role in executing the prisoners and called it “one of the proud achievements” of the Iranian regime, according to Amnesty International.

The article itself goes into much more detail of how bad Raisi was. For one thing, Iran is still the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism. How about all the morality police assaulting and even killing women for not wearing a hijab? Executing gays? Raisi was simply not a good person, and the US should not be officially expressing condolences for his death. Would the Biden admin do this if Putin died? How about Kim Jong Un?

Just imagine if it was the Trump State Department making this official proclamation: the Credentialed Media would be destroying him. Bored Panda has a long thread on women celebrating Raisi’s death, which, unfortunately, puts the women on the radar of Iran’s government, which has a tendency to do bad things to women. Further, Iranian dissidents around the world celebrated his death. But

(NY Post) But in the medium term, it (sadly) seems unlikely to change anything significantly.

Iran is still committed to its project of regional hegemony, a project far bigger than Raisi.

The Islamic Republic has scored a number of big wins on that front through proxies in recent months: the Houthi offensive against Red Sea shipping; Hamas’ Oct. 7 atrocities; the gathering storm of an Israel-Hezbollah war.

Nothing will change. Iran leaders will simply appoint another leader who will continue the same path as Iran has been traveling since their revolution in 1979. I have to wonder if it would have made a positive difference if Obama, with Biden as his VP, had completely backed the Iranian Green uprising, instead of blowing it off.

I remember when Mr Trump flew 1/2 way around the world to French kiss the North Korea dictator and offer him “love”
Anyone else remember ? Like the flowers live letters?

Mr Teach is always mocking the yours for not living 100% according to their views on energy. When is he planning on heating and cooking with coal?

In the case you’ve been in a cave for the past 50+ years or just dumber than dirt.

      I accept the latter.

      BTW

SA is not threatening to destroy us.

Because they sure don’t have them now!

“We regret any loss of life. We don’t want to see anyone die in a helicopter crash,” Miller told reporters on Monday.

Really? Then how do you want to see them die?

Teach most of the estimated 8000 killed after the Iranian revolution kicked your beloved Shah out, were leftists and Marxists. The gov by mullahs is of course CONSERVATIVE, they wanted to stamp out any liberalism.
Iranian women have been able to drive cars alone for years, everyone with 1/2 a brain (obviously excluding puppy killer) knows that the women in Iran are far more liberated than in Saudi Arabia. Trump and his Trumpers have always admired authoritative countries ruled by dictators who enforce conservative cultural rules: such as Russia North Korea Saudi Arabia. None of that tranny LGBQT nonsense there! And abortion? VERBOTEN!! The fetus belongs to the STATE not the mother.

I bought what, puppy killer? That Mexico would pay for the Wall?

The United State of America is the most influential nation on Earth, and it’s proper to extend condolences when the president of another nation dies. It’s unlikely the US will send a delegation to the funeral.

Is it possible to bring Iran back into the fold of civilized nations rather than the fundamentalist regime it’s become? Possibly. Saudi Arabia did an about face even after engineering the 9-11 attack. We even looked the other way when Mohammad bin Salman had WaPo journalist and Saudi dissident, Jamal Khashoggi, murdered and dismembered. In any event, the Saudis have greatly reduced the influence of the fundamentalist Wahhabi culture and their literal absolutist interpretation of Islam’s Bible, the Koran. I’ve worked with Iranian emigres and they were wonderful people. Went for drinks with a beautiful Iranian scientist. So how does a practicing Muslim get around prohibitions against drinking we asked? She explained that everyone has their own interpretation! Sound familiar?

The US (Eisenhower) and Britain (Churchill) overthrew the democratically elected progressive PM Mohammad Mossadegh in 1953 because he wanted Iran to benefit from their own natural resources. Mossadegh demanded that Iran be able to review the books of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company! Imagine that! After the coup, the US and Britain empowered Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Shah, as dictator. And boy did he ever dictate! The Shah DID modernize Iran’s industries, education and healthcare but became more and more ruthless with his state police, SAVAK, making short work of dissidents. His detractor accused him of corruption, rewarding the “upper” class and funneling oil revenues to supporters. The reactionary fundamentalist Muslims overthrew him in 1979.

Should we have sent condolences when Adolf Hitler died? How about Idi Amin Dada, or Jean-Claude Duvalier? You complained that President Trump was trying to soften relations with North Korea, so might I assume that you’d find it improper to send condolences when Kim Jong-un croaks?

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

        Our fascist from Fayette asks:

Should we have sent condolences when Adolf Hitler died? How about Idi Amin Dada, or Jean-Claude Duvalier?

He equates the President of Iran with Adolf Hitler who murdered several million Jews and started WWII, killing a half million young Americans??? Idi Amin and Baby Doc?

How many even heard of Raisi before yesterday? His death does not leave a power vacuum in Iran. They still have a dictatorial, reactionary fundamentalist grand poobah, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, whose son Mojtaba, likely becomes the next Supreme Leader (since Raisi’s “accident”).

Would the US have anything to gain from expressed sympathies for Amin, Kim or Duvalier – all detested by their peoples – and all whose departure left or would leave a dystopian nation leaderless. If anything we would offer hope to Uganda, North Korea and Haiti.

Iran is of more consequence to America and the world than Uganda, Haiti and North Korea combined.

We get it. The only good Muslim is a dead Muslim, so we should celebrate the death of an Iranian President that no one heard of. Killa’ from Kentucky probably believes we should bomb Iran into the Cretaceous.

If Donald Trump died tomorrow, President Biden would say nice things about him.

Just when I think you are not as stupid as what you write; you prove me wrong.

      Congratulations.

  7. Elwood P. Dowd says:

The “Butcher of Tehran” picked up his nickname from human rights groups that criticized Iran’s execution of 3 to 4 thousand dissidents (communists, Marxists, many in the Peoples Mojahedin Organization advocating the overthrow of the Iranian govt).

Does Mr Teach and his hapless readers really object to trying and executing commies and Marxists??

According to the far-right, commies from Biden down to 18 yr old Dem voters, are the greatest threat to America.
