Pre-Friday Stupid: Michelle Obama Blamed For Jump In Pedestrian Deaths

A pre-Friday dose of stupid

The Governors Highway Safety Association says pedestrian deaths increased in the first half of 2010 and the First Lady’s program to get Americans to be more active could be partly responsible.

Governors Highway Safety Administration spokesman Jonathan Adkins told 630 WMAL that Michelle Obama is “trying to get us to walk to work and exercise a little bit more.  While that’s good, it also increases our exposure to risk.”

Look, you can slam Michelle Obama for many things, including going way way way overboard in attempting to get force people to eat healthier, but, come on, her heart is in the right place, in wanting people to get more exercise and eat healthier. If people are too stupid to watch where they are going while getting out, that’s on them, not Michelle.

There’s a reason we blog in jammies: no one is going to make us go outside for walkies while wearing them….hey, look, a cookie!

I thought it might be an increase of people covering their eyes and fleeing into traffic when the First Lady was around!

  2. […] – Bill Teach calls it “a pre-Friday dose of stupid.” […]

I blame TEACH for selling cell phones to people who are too stupid to be able to walk and talk at the same time

  4. FYI, John, I left that business. Had enough. It was a miserable working environment.

There are actually apps that use the camera so you can see where you are going as you type. Still not a great idea. I saw someone using one on their iPhone while driving. Looked like they were Tweeting.

What, she was out cruising in that big black SUV with the “mystery passenger” windows again, trolling for pedestrians?

Here is a tip: If when walking to work, you have to walk on the breakdown lane of the freeway – don’t walk.
