Moonbats Wonder If Civil Rights And Liberties Can Survive A 2nd Trump Term

The Washington Monthly’s David Cole is actually making a fantastic argument as to why Trump should be re-elected

Can Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Survive a Second Trump Term?

Can civil rights and civil liberties withstand a second term of President Donald Trump? They have already taken a major hit. Playing to his base, Trump has unremittingly targeted the most vulnerable among us. His anti-immigrant measures began with the Muslim ban, which he recently expanded to bar immigrants from three more predominantly Muslim countries and three countries with large Muslim minorities. He has separated families, detained individuals who posed no threat to others or risk of flight, sought to deny asylum on grounds that were directly contrary to statute, and attempted to rescind protected status for the Dreamers.

On reproductive freedom, he promised to overturn Roe v. Wade, and has appointed judges with that goal in mind. He barred federally funded Title X family planning clinics from advising pregnant women about their rights to abortion, blocked undocumented teens in federal custody from accessing abortion, and gave a green light for employers to deny insurance coverage for contraception to their female employees.

He has sought to reverse nearly every advance that the LGBTQ community made under President Obama. He barred transgender individuals from serving in the military. He rescinded guidance requiring schools that receive federal funding to allow transgender students to use facilities that correspond to their gender identity. And his administration argued in the Supreme Court that a bakery had a First Amendment right to discriminate against a gay couple who sought to purchase a wedding cake, and that federal law does not bar employers from firing their workers for being gay or transgender.

Democrats have been running with the meme that Trump is an authoritarian who’s taken away liberties and such since before he even took office, and it’s interesting to finally see a list of what they think Trump’s taken. Seriously, the first thing Cole yammers about are people who aren’t even United States citizens. I wasn’t aware of Muslim terrorists having U.S. Constitutional rights. And one of those countries with “large Muslim populations”? China. There’s rather a good reason to block Chinese from entering the U.S., right? Then whining about illegal aliens, who shouldn’t be here per federal law. As for Dreamers, even Obama said his protection of them was un-Constitutional.

As for the gender confused, what about the rights of little girls to not have biological boys in their bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers? How about for women who do not want biological males with mental issues taking away their sports chances.

It is interesting that Liberals never mention that they want to take away our 2nd Amendment Rights, enshrined in the actual Constitution. That they want to limit our communications via Net Neutrality, giving Government power. The want to limit Freedom Of Speech on the Internet, they want to get rid of Fox News and radio folks like Hannity and Rush via a “fairness act”. All their ‘climate change’ policies are about taking away your freedom, liberty, and choice.

At the same time, he has appointed an unprecedented number of federal judges, most of them handpicked by the Federalist Society for their conservative ideological commitments.

Conservative meaning “follows the Constitution.”

But if Trump manages to win, then what? The next president will almost certainly have the opportunity to appoint one or more Supreme Court justices. The Court is already more conservative than it has been in nearly a century. If Trump gets to replace a liberal justice and create a 6–3 conservative-liberal split, the number of 5–4 decisions splitting in a liberal way, already relatively rare, will likely be erased altogether. We would then need not one but two “swing” justices to swing in the progressive direction for the liberal view to prevail.

That’s a hell of a reason to get out and re-elect Trump. You may not like the guy personally, but, all you Never Trumpers out there, do you want a Conservative leaning judiciary which mostly makes sure things are kept that way, or do you want a hardcore leftist Supreme Court, remaking the nation into a Modern Socialist paradise? And it’s not just the Supreme Court, but all the federal courts.

Cole goes on to whine some more, being totally non-partisan, right? Because a guy like Cole should be non-partisan, right?

But if you believe that a second Trump term would create a civil liberties dystopia, the single best thing to do is stop it from happening. In the words of the ACLU’s 2018 midterm campaign, “Vote like your rights depend on it.” (The ACLU is nonpartisan, and does not endorse or oppose candidates, but we educate voters and urge them to make their votes count.) It’s not enough to vote; you need to amplify your voice by encouraging others to vote like their rights depend on it, too. After all, Trump won in 2016 not because he earned a larger share of the vote than Mitt Romney did in 2012. His share was, in fact, smaller. The reason Trump won is that Hillary Clinton’s vote share was less than Barack Obama’s. It was low Democratic turnout that made the difference. If that changes because people vote for civil rights, Donald Trump will lose. It’s as simple as that.

Why should Cole be non-partisan?

David Cole is the national legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union. The views expressed here are his own.

Kinda partisan, isn’t he?

You Too Can Ruin Your Kids’ Snack Time With ‘Climate Change’

Indoctrinating them early is important

What’s snack time got to do with climate change?

Hey parents! Do you find yourself wanting to talk to your elementary school-age kids about climate change, but you’re not sure where to begin?

Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Your children may be too young to read by themselves or, you know, wrap their head around the intricacies of global climate policy, but there are age-appropriate ways to introduce the idea that we should — and can! — take better care of our planet.

And what better way to start than with food! Every one of us eats, so everyone poops has the ability to take action on climate change. Cooking with your kiddo is a great way to introduce them to climate-friendly values such as thinking about where their food comes from, trying new (low-emissions) foods, and cutting down on food packaging and waste.

We scoured our video archives and rediscovered three of our favorite Grist Test Kitchen clips to use as jumping-off points to introduce your child to the concept of climate change. We’ve also come up with suggestions of what to do and say to help you connect the dots between food and the environment.

Yes, they helpfully provide videos and recipes with a heavy side of cultish activity and dogma you can feed your kids. Then you can screw with the lunch the little munchkin takes to school, lecturing them on going meatless at least one day a week. Followed not giving them any junk food and

Do: Dupe your child’s favorite packaged snack with a fun DIY. If you’re feeling especially daring, why not try convincing your potato chip-loving little one to try some of the delicious kale chips featured in the video above.

Yup, dupe your child to get them to join the cult.

Crazy Ohio Democrat Says She’ll File Charges For Crimes Against Humanity Against Trump

You wanted some Defcon 1 Trump Derangement Syndrome? Here you go

This was in reply to Go Blue 44

https://twitter.com/1036Go/status/1246973143757004800

Excitable Tavia has almost 50k likes, which is what she was going for. While she actually do it? I triple dog dare her.

Here’s what Trump said

On Sunday, the president doubled down on his assertions, telling reporters that the drug was “being tested now” and claiming “there are some very strong, powerful signs” of its potential as a treatment for coronavirus.

“It’s a great malaria drug. It’s worked unbelievably. It’s a powerful drug on malaria,” Trump said of hydroxychloroquine. “And there are signs that it works on this, very strong signs. And in the meantime, it’s been around a long time. It also works very powerfully on lupus. So, there are some very strong, powerful signs and we’ll have to see.”

It’s not like doctors are seeing success with hydroxychloroquine or anything. Or that NY patients are being treated with it. Is it fully proven? Studies are unclear. The FDA has approved it. Even the NY Times reported that, while more research is need, it helps. If things are as dire as the media and Dems want to make it, isn’t it better than dying?

You Ate A Burger, Meaning Health Crises Like Bat Soup Virus Will Become More Common

See, it’s all your fault that dangerous viruses can rampage, something that never happened prior to CO2 going above 350ppm

Climate change is only going to make health crises like coronavirus more frequent and worse

While the world is currently facing down the COVID-19 pandemic, until we address an even broader issue — climate change — we’ll likely face additional pandemics for years to come.

Scientists have long warned that climate change will impact not just our environment, but also our health by increasing rates of infectious disease.

Indeed, there’s more than just water trapped in the ice caps and permafrost of high latitudes: as recently as 2015, researchers identified 28 previously undiscovered virus groups in a melting glacier. These harmful pathogens could make their way into streams, rivers, and waterways as the ice caps melt, wreaking havoc on our immune systems that have no natural resistance to these ancient diseases.

If the COVID-19 outbreak is any indication, that future may now be our reality – which is why we have to act on climate change.

See, it really is your fault, since you drive a fossil fueled vehicle to get a cheeseburger

Climate change leads to more food insecurity, and as a result, experts predict that humans will seek out alternative food sources like bushmeat and bats. Consumption of these animals leads to disease outbreaks and is even potentially to blame for coronavirus.

This is the work of a cult. They ignore that eating things like bat and pangolin has pretty much been going on forever. Rats are a delicacy in some parts of the world. They love making soups with them in Vietnam. Eating dogs and cats is normal in parts of Asia, including China. What this Cult of Climastrology screed calls “alternative food sources” is considered normal in parts of the world. BTW, this article, which links alternative food sources, is deemed “racist.”

Then there’s excessive rainfall and high humidity. Both are risk factors for the spread of waterborne diseases like malaria.

These same people whining are also the ones who block the use of DDT.

Construction of new roads, mines, and hunting reserves is driving previously wild animals into contact with humans, leading to cross-contamination and infections from diseases like SARS, Avian Flu, and HIV.

That has zero to do with climate change, natural or man-caused

The good news is that these scenarios are by no means inevitable. But to avoid them, we need our elected leaders to inform the public about the connection between pandemics like COVID-19, and climate change. Because climate change is a problem we can solve, but only if we show the kind of international energy and cooperation that we are beginning to see in the fight against coronavirus.

See, if you give up your freedom, liberty, and choice, along with way more of your money, we can solve this! Because this never happened before. Not bad plagues and stuff

NY Times: Social Distancing Is White And Rich Privilege

You can obviously depend on the NY Times to provide lots and lots of hot takes on the backs of people getting sick and dying. You have this one

Healthcare Workers Are Begging For Masks. Is The President Listening?
The country that spends the most in the world on health care doesn’t have nearly enough protective equipment.

It’s an op-ed with a video, 2:50 seconds of medical folks saying they don’t have enough while the Times interspersed heavily edited cuts of Trump speaking, without full context. Interesting that no one mentions that the Obama administration failed to refill the N95 masks and other supplies for the Strategic National Stockpile. I won’t blame Obama for that: a president can only do and know so much. Heck, was he even aware of this? Did someone bring it to his attention at some point? Or, for real this time, did he first read about it in the news recently? Anyhow, no one in the video offers any ideas as to what President Trump is supposed to do. Not one idea.

And other hot-takes. But, let’s go to Charles Blow, who’s always good for a race baiting one

Social Distancing Is a Privilege

People like to say that the coronavirus is no respecter of race, class or country, that the disease Covid-19 is mindless and will infect anybody it can.

In theory, that is true. But, in practice, in the real world, this virus behaves like others, screeching like a heat-seeking missile toward the most vulnerable in society. And this happens not because it prefers them, but because they are more exposed, more fragile and more ill.

What the vulnerable portion of society looks like varies from country to country, but in America, that vulnerability is highly intersected with race and poverty.

Early evidence from cities and states already shows that black people are disproportionately affected by the virus in devastating ways. As ProPublica reported, in Milwaukee County, Wis., as of Friday morning, 81 percent of the deaths were black people. Black people make up only 26 percent of that county.

Maybe Charles should be blaming China for coming up with Bat Soup Virus. He also notes the same problem in Detroit and Chicago. So

If this pattern holds true across other states and cities, this virus could have a catastrophic impact on black people in this country.

And yet, we are still not seeing an abundance of news coverage or national governmental response that center on these racial disparities. Many states haven’t even released race-specific data on cases and deaths. The federal government hasn’t either.

This is the kind of thing race baiters look for, rather than worrying about everyone.

Partly for this reason, we are left with deceptive and deadly misinformation. The perception that this is a jet-setters’ disease, or a spring breakers’ disease, or a “Chinese virus” as President Trump likes to say, must be laid to rest. The idea that this virus is an equal-opportunity killer must itself be killed.

Perhaps it’s not helpful that the Democratic Party has held blacks down in slums in Dem run cities, making them utterly reliant on government?

Staying at home is a privilege. Social distancing is a privilege.

See? Social distancing is white and rich privilege! Of course. It’s so simple.

If you are sheltering in place in an ivory tower, or even a comfortable cul-de-sac or a smartly well-appointed apartment, and your greatest concern is boredom and leftover food, please stop scolding those scratching to survive.

That’s an interesting final paragraph, because so many of us, who are apparently privileged, have been advocates of not shutting down the economy, yet, the Democrats and the media pushed for this hard. Go figure.

Hot Take: Trump Admin Let Thousands Stream In Before Implementing Travel Ban Media Slammed Him Over

There’s some very interesting revisionism going on. When Trump put in place the travel ban from China he was slammed for it, because the media had been saying it wasn’t that bad

Plus, you know, Orange Man Bad, and the media firefighters are always trying to manufacture a gotcha, trying to score points. Like we can’t go back and see what they’ve written

As Trump administration debated travel restrictions, thousands streamed in from China

In defending his strategy against the deadly coronavirus, President Donald Trump repeatedly has said he slowed its spread into the United States by acting decisively to bar travelers from China on Jan. 31.

“I was criticized by the Democrats when I closed the Country down to China many weeks ahead of what almost everyone recommended. Saved many lives,” he tweeted, for instance, on March 2.

But Reuters has found that the administration took a month from the time it learned of the outbreak in late December to impose the initial travel restrictions amid furious infighting.

During that time, the National Security Council staff, the state department and other federal agencies argued about everything from how best to screen for sick travelers to the economic impact of any restrictions, according to two government officials familiar with the deliberations. (snip)

Each day that the administration debated the travel measures, roughly 14,000 travelers arrived in the United States from China, according to figures cited by the Trump administration. Among them was a traveler who came from Wuhan to Seattle in mid-January, who turned out to be the first confirmed case in the United States.

And the very minute the travel ban was implemented on January 21, he was demonized for it. This is the way it works, a Republican is damned if they do damned if they don’t.

And here’s the NY Times slamming Trump. And Pelosi encouraging public gatherings in the wake of the travel ban. And you can find so many more.

CoC: People Suffering Is A Small Price To Pay To Solve The Climate Crisis

It’s a shame that the media is not focusing that much on ‘climate change’ in these days of Bat Soup Virus (I only made it to page 4 of Google News for climate change, stories from past 24 hours, before they became mostly about other things, with climate change either as something small or mentioned elsewhere on the page), because it would be an eye opener for the casual Warmist what the Cult of Climastrology really stands for

WHAT THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC CAN TEACH US ABOUT THE CLIMATE EMERGENCY

GRETA THUNBERG COULDN’T do it. Bill McKibben and 350.org couldn’t do it, and neither could the Paris climate accord. But Covid-19 is cutting human-caused emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases as travel and other economic activity in much of the world slow or halt altogether.

While the contraction in CO2 emissions set off by the virus may not be as pronounced as the related though distinct fall in “conventional” pollutants like soot and smog, it is far more consequential. Soot and smog poison and kill only in the present, while greenhouse gases stick around to maim the climate for the next century. Burning a fossil fuel today is tantamount to signing a death warrant for future generations. Conversely, forgoing an action that would have caused a fossil fuel to be burned creates a permanent benefit.

If what is in bold is the case, why don’t Warmists give up their own use of fossil fuels?

Is it cruel to point approvingly to the steep reduction in carbon emissions now unfolding, given the skyrocketing deaths, lost livelihoods, and widespread privation? And won’t the reductions be negated as the virus is tamed and emissions come roaring back? No and no.

Insane people gleeful over this tragedy.

The suffering is a different story. Were a happiness/misery calculator able to quantify the pluses and minuses to well-being from events befalling human society, the coronavirus’s flattening of the rising CO2-in-the-atmosphere curve would obviously be swamped by the lost life and the disordering of business as usual.

And yet business as usual must come to an end if we are to hand down a livable planet to our children.

The rub is how to slash carbon emissions with minimum suffering and maximum social and economic justice, and without nature forcing the reductions on us via pandemics or other chaotic black swan events that are surely in store.

Yes, that is the rub, one which the Cultists have failed to offer solutions to. Because they don’t have them. I’m not saying their policies would make the world look like it does right now, but, what, maybe half of what we’re seeing?

Second, the crisis is helping us see just how much our well-being depends on muscular, proactive governance. Government of the people and for the people is literally the thing that’s now needed more than ever.  The people must be sovereign over corporations and not vice versa — a point driven home by the tepid response of big business to Trump’s exhortations to step up manufacture of equipment to protect health care workers.

Interestingly, this fails to say that people should be sovereign over government. This is a clarion call for authoritative big government, the type that tells you where you may go and when. They type that arrests people for making their own choice to attend parties and churches. The type that applies laws and rules however they like, such as arresting a guy for paddleboarding despite not being near anyone. You have people snitching on neighbors for going out, even for exercise. There are even snitch lines established by government (and not just in the UK). You have government assuming more and more power for itself, like in Kentucky. Do Warmists consider that they themselves will be subject to the whims of government?

As for the super-rich, never have their fortunes been so fully revealed as hollow and corrosive. Worldwide, the wealthiest 5 percent of households collectively burn more carbon than the entire bottom half, according to a comprehensive new report from the University of Leeds. Could the past decade’s research and agitation on economic inequality now culminate, in the pandemic’s wake, in an insistence on transmuting extreme private wealth into a new collectively shared wealth of renewable energy and sustainable communities?

This, more than fossil fuel divestment or class-action litigation, is the kind of program that will actually cast off the yoke of the fossil fuel empire upon which the portfolios of the super-rich depend. In the process, the toxic aspiration to join the super-rich could be swept aside. Bye-bye, lusting after commuter helicopters. Bye-bye, hungering for one’s own island. Bye-bye, legislatures purchased by dark money.

This really isn’t about ‘climate change’, is it. And now they are using the suffering of billions to push their cult.
