John Kerry: Climate Change (Hoax) Worse Than Iranians With Nuclear Bombs

(The Blaze) “I believe that the situation that we face, Mr. President, is as dangerous as any of the sort of real crises that we talk about,” Kerry said. “Today we had a hearing in the Foreign Relations Committee on the subject of Syria, and we all know what’s happening with respect to Iran, and nuclear weapons and the possibility even of a war.”

He continued, “Well, this issue actually is of as significant a level of importance, because it affects life itself on the planet. Because it affects ecosystems on which the oceans and the land depend for the relationship of the warmth of our earth and the amount of moisture that there is and all of the interactions that occur as a consequence of our climate.”

Then he decided to go with the tired old trope about a “disinformation” campaign, which would never work if the science of AGW was on a sound, and scientific, footing.

He added, “We have in effect, with respect to climate change in America today, what is fundamentally a flat-earth caucus, a bunch of people – some of them in the United States Congress itself – who still argue, against all the science, all the evidence, they argue that somehow we don’t know enough about climate change, or they argue that the evidence isn’t sufficient, or they argue that it just is a hoax.”

Hmm, last time I checked, insulting people wasn’t the best way to convince them. Silly me.

Obama’s DREAM Act Order Will Allow Minor Criminals To Stay For $465

Unemployment jumped up to 8.3% (adding to the historic time for unemployment over 8%) yesterday, and the Obama admin released their rules for pseudo-amnesty for certain illegals

(LA Times) Young undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children and hope to avoid deportaton will have to pay $465, submit fingerprints and undergo a background check, according to details of the program released Friday by the Department of Homeland Security….

Excellent! The price for being an illegal is now set at just $465, which can be waived under certain conditions.

Up to 1.4 million people could benefit from the change, according to the Pew Hispanic Center, a nonpartisan research group.

Fantastic! With American citizens struggling for jobs and unemployment high, let’s add 1.4 million more people!

In addition, applicants must not have been convicted of a “felony, significant misdemeanor, three or more other misdemeanors, or otherwise pose a threat to national security or public safety.”

And there’s the rub

(Daily Caller) The White House immigration policy would not prevent illegal aliens who have committed identity theft or have been driving cars without licenses from obtaining work permits, an administration official told reporters during a press conference on Friday.

It will also be extended to some illegals already in jail and to some who have already been approved for deportation by judges, he said.

The federal government is already known to be highly inefficient and tends to miss things: does anyone think that they will miss criminal issues with many of these illegals?

Good Grief: Liberals Complain That NBC Aired Raaaaacist Commercial

There’s lots of things one can complain about regarding the XXX Summer Games (snort). Most have seen the spectacular fail from NBC, no point in rehashing it. But, seriously?

Did NBC Just Air A Racist Commercial?

After Gabby Douglas won the gold and Bob Costas spoke about how amazing this was for the first African-American to win the women’s all-around gymnastics title, NBC aired a commercial of a Monkey doing gymnastics which has caused quite a stir. Racist, or just bad timing? Tons of people on Twitter seemed to think it was more on the racist side.

While NBC will likely be forced to grovel an apology, even a fake “we’re sorry if you were offended” effort, they also have a chance to push back against this if they want, and remind viewers that:

1. Commercials and the main TV programming they sponsor are two separate entities; if you’re seeing a connection between the two, that’s your problem. And:

2. If you’re associating African-Americans with monkeys — or you think that we do — that’s really your problem.

True. If you are immediately jumping to a racism mode of thought and linking the two, you are the racist. Furthermore, commercials tend to be scheduled well ahead of time with only a smattering of an idea as to will be on, particularly when one is dealing with the Olympics or some other sporting event. The advertiser probably knew that gymnastics might be on. Good time for that commercial, much like beer commercials with scantily clad women works best when The Man Show is on. But, we shouldn’t be too hard on our liberals pals: all the ever see is racism, and we should work hard to keep them calm and ween them from their long held racist ways.

Solyndra Scandal Leading To The White House

Looks like the White House was warned about restructuring the Solyndra loan, which, if you remember, illegally subordinated the taxpayers, leaving them on the hook for the $535 million dollar loan, putting investors (many of whom were big Obama donors) ahead of the taxpayers

(ABC News) Buried in the treasure trove of White House emails related to Solyndra released Thursday by the House Energy and Commerce Committee is one suggesting that concerns about Solyndra’s viability were shared all the way up to then-White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley a full six months before the company went bust.

First, some background.

We’ve known for a while that career analysts at the Office of Management and Budget had told the Department of Energy that they had concerns about Solyndra. The emails show that OMB analyst Kelly Colyar urged the company be shut down and its assets sold off in January 2011. Liquidating Solyndra then, she estimated, would limit taxpayer losses to $141 million. The Department of Energy’s plan to save the company by restructuring the loan, she warned in a January 2011 email, could mean losses “significantly HIGHER” for taxpayers.

This, however, is much more serious.  This is the first time Obama’s inner circle has been tied to the restructuring and its illegal subordination of those taxpayer loans.  If Daley was briefed on the details of that restructuring before it got put in place and it still went forward, one can infer that Daley didn’t raise any objections to it.  It’s hard to imagine that Daley would have gone out on that limb without getting approval from the man to whom he directly reported — Barack Obama.

Yeah, but it was in the name of “green” energy and jobs, or something. And Obama told us his plan worked!

Oops: Warmists Burned Over Melting Streetlights

Here’s one I never got around to yesterday (thanks to Gumball Brains for reminding me)

(Daily Caller) Always a lightning rod for global warming activists’ discontent, Oklahoma Republican Sen. James Inhofe was treated to some challenging tweets Thursday after the left-wing blog ThinkProgress posted a photo of melting street lights in his home state and claimed they were the result of global warming.

“WOW. It’s so hot in Oklahoma that the streetlights are melting,” ThinkProgress declared, noting the temperature topping off at 114 degrees.

“Hey Senator @InhofePress, even your streetlights are saying #ImTooHot http://ow.ly/cHbX4,” the Climate Reality Project tweeted later, linking to the ThinkProgress claim.

“Senator Inhofe, God may be trying to get your attention. Check out this picture http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2012/08/02/630211/in-oklahoma-its-so-hot-the-street-lights-are-melting/ …” added Environmental activist Bill McKibben, highlighted by blogger Tom Nelson.

I caught those Tweets over at Tom Nelson’s blog yesterday. The post and picture are still up at Climate Fascist Progress, with this caveat

UPDATE: After we published this piece, we saw reports from people on the ground in Stillwater that the melting streetlights were due to a nearby fire. The person who took the photo, Patrick Hunter, described the scene: “Being the person that actually took this photo, I’d say that this was due to a fire semi-close by coupled with the unbelievable heat we are experiencing. Still an amazing photo and not fake as many are saying on here. Enjoy!”

So, they can’t even say “oops, we were wrong.” Because it appears as if it was a dumpster fire that caused the melting

Anthony Watts: I wonder if it ever occurred to these guys to check to see how many streetlights melt in Phoenix (or Riyadh and Baghdad) each year where the temperature routinely reaches 115°F and as high as 122°F ? Or why only two globes melted on one side?

Hiring Stepped Up A Bit In July, But Unemployment Rate “Unexpectedly” Goes Up

Really?

(CNN) Businesses stepped up their hiring in July, but the unemployment rate ticked higher anyway.

Employers said they added 163,000 jobs in the month, according to a Labor Department report released Friday, much better than the 95,000 jobs economists had forecast.

But at the same time, the unemployment rate unexpectedly rose to 8.3% as households claimed they lost 195,000 jobs. (snip)

Revisions from previous months also showed the economy gained 6,000 fewer jobs in May and June than originally thought. (snip)

Three years after the recession officially ended, roughly 12.8 million Americans remain unemployed, and 40.7% of them have been so for six months or more.

Meanwhile, 852,000 so-called “discouraged workers” were not counted in the labor force, because they did not look for a job in the last four weeks.

Some like to compare Obama’s depression to Reagan’s recession, both of whom “inherited” the condition. In July 1984, the economy added 379,000 jobs after adding 308,000 in May and 363,000 in April. There weren’t reports about people simply giving up en masse from the jobs market. Under Reagan, the economy continuously showed signs of improvement. Under Obama, it just keeps slugging on, going nowhere. And RNC Chairman Reince Priebus was quick to pounce

“Last week President Obama said, ‘We tried our plan, and it worked.’ With the unemployment rate going up again, it’s obvious that plan didn’t work at all,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

“Instead of supporting American innovation and job creation, he has squandered taxpayer money on failed companies like Solyndra, which led to job losses. It’s no wonder we can’t end this economic nightmare. The president continues to take us in the wrong direction.

“In a time of widespread economic hardship, the president’s schedule has not included a ‘Daily Economic Briefing’ since April of 2011. He has not convened his Jobs Council in over six months, yet he has found time for over 120 political fundraisers and 11 rounds of golf since their last meeting.

“President Obama’s only plans for a second term are higher taxes and more spending–exactly the opposite of what we need. On Day One of his presidency, Mitt Romney will get to work implementing his comprehensive jobs plan to turn around the economy.”

However, there is more bad news than good.  July saw a slight move up in U-6, which had been coming down earlier in the year to the mid-14 range.  That measure of un/underemployment has now risen to 15.2%, increasing in both adjusted and unadjusted measures.  It’s the highest rating in this measure since February, and it’s now up more than a full point since April.

Romney Calls Out Dingy Harry: “Time To Put Up Or Shut Up”

After Harry Reid tripled down on his un-American comments

“I am not basing this on some figment of my imagination,” Reid told Nevada reporters Wednesday. “I have had a number of people tell me that.” But he would not expand on his sources. “I don’t think the burden should be on me,” he said. “The burden should be on him. He’s the one I’ve alleged has not paid any taxes.”

And on the Senate floor Thursday, Reid said, “The word is out he hasn’t paid taxes for 10 years.”

…Romney told him to put up or shut up

(The Hill) Mitt Romney on Thursday said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) needs to “put up or shut up” when it comes to charges the presumptive GOP nominee did not pay his taxes.

Romney also accused the White House of being behind the allegation.

“It’s time for Harry to put up or shut up,” Romney said on Sean Hannity’s radio show. “Harry’s going to have to describe who it is he spoke with because that’s totally and completely wrong. It’s untrue, dishonest and inaccurate. It’s wrong. So I’m looking forward to have Harry reveal his sources and we’ll probably find out it’s the White House.”

See, there’s a little thing in America called “due process” where people are innocent till proven guilty, and any accusers must be disclosed. What Reid has done is defame and slander Romney, who is still a private citizen. I suppose we should put Obama’s promise to change the atmosphere in Washington in the “promise kept” column, because who thought that things would get much, much worse, and usually coming from Democrats?

LGBT Activist Files Human Rights Violations Complaint Against Chick-fil-a

Yet another case of liberal tolerance on display

(Chicago Phoenix) The Civil Rights Agenda, a local LGBT rights advocacy group, filed multiple complaints with the Illinois Department of Human Rights Thursday, alleging that the Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A restaurant chain’s “intolerant corporate culture” violates Illinois law and a provision in the state’s Human Rights Act.

“In our current high speed media and social media environment, Chick-fil-A has announced and caused to be published, to hundreds of millions of people, that LGBT people are unacceptable and objectionable,” said Jacob Meister, Governing Board President of TCRA and the attorney who filed the complaint. “They have made it clear the lives of LGBT individuals are unacceptable to them and that same-gender families are unwelcome at Chick-fil-A.”

Anthony Martinez, executive director of TCRA, contends that Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy’s recent comments reiterating his opposition to same-sex marriage were more than just his own thoughts and that he was speaking on behalf of his company, stating the views as company policy.

Hmm, I wonder if the Civil Rights Agenda will file a suit against Islamists, who think gays should be stoned or hung. Probably not. Liberals tend to tolerate those who practice Sharia law, which tends to treat gays and women poorly, allows honor killings, and holds the belief that people should either practice the Islamist way, be dhimmis, or be killed. Actually, that last part sounds much like Liberalism, without the killing part. Though, admit it, lots of liberals call for killing those who do not agree with them.

Meanwhile, there’s a humorous extension of the Chick-fil-a appreciation day

(Politico) Chick-fil-A customers who showed up in droves Wednesday to back the chicken chain’s opposition to same-sex marriage are literally mailing in their support now.

As same-sex marriage supporters plan a nationwide “kiss-in” Friday at Chick-fil-A, a conservative nonprofit is urging attendees of Mike Huckabee’s “appreciation day” to send their receipts and empty fast-food bags to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Boston Mayor Tom Menino, both of whom have said the restaurant isn’t welcome in their respective cities.

I’m sure there are a few others to whom the receipts can be sent to, such as Chicago Alderman Moreno and D.C. mayor Vincent Gray.
