There are rumors that the City of San Francisco will also be sued
(ABC7) The family of Kate Steinle is on the verge of filing a lawsuit over her murder. The young woman was shot and killed at San Francisco’s Pier 14 last month. Among those named in the lawsuit will be San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi.
The multi-faceted claim will be filed Tuesday morning against Mirkarimi, who released the accused killer Francisco Lopez Sanchez from his jail. The suit also names the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. The gun Sanchez is accused of using was stolen from a BLM agent’s car. The family is also suing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, also known as ICE
There’s a press conference scheduled for 11am
The grief-stricken mother of Steinle, Liz Sullivan, spoke with ABC7 News about how the family is dealing with their loss.
“Sometimes we’re together and then sometimes we’re falling apart at the seams,” Sullivan said.
Those who support illegal aliens forget that there are very real people suffering because of the actions of some illegals. They don’t seem to care about the tragedies caused by illegal aliens and those who coddle them, even look away from them, protect them.

Who would have thought that classified and sensitive information would ever be sent to the U.S. Secretary Of State?
(The Hill) Roughly 150 of 7,000 soon-to-be-released pages of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails contain information that is currently classified, State Department spokesman Mark Toner said Monday.
“We have upgraded a number of these,†Toner told reporters during the department’s daily briefing .
“We look at these emails and we upgrade them as necessary as we see fit,†he added. “We stand by our position that the information we upgraded was not marked classified at the time it was sent.â€
Of course, it doesn’t matter, per U.S. Statutes, whether they were classified at the time they were sent.
Furthermore, the very fact that information could be later classified is one of the main reasons those who work for the federal government are to use their official State Dept email address, as provided by the State Dept IT department, and approved email devices. Especially the SoS, who would surely be a target of hackers and foreign governments.
And this is the lady who wants to be POTUS, someone who cares not a whit for the proper security procedures.
(Fox News) So if the Clinton denial is to be believed, individuals in her inner circle would have simply typed or scanned classified information into a non-classified system without regard for its contents. In this case, emails would have started in, and stayed in, the unclassified system — albeit improperly, based on the findings of the intelligence inspector general.
But if it turns out emails literally jumped from the classified to the non-classified system — something the State Department claims cannot happen — it would seem to point to Clinton’s staff going to great lengths to create a work-around to do so.
A government employee doing so would commit numerous felonies, according to Bradford Higgins, who served as assistant secretary of state for resource management and chief financial officer from 2006-2009. “A violation, in addition to criminal charges and potential prosecution, would likely mean that person who committed the breach would never again be given a security clearance,” Higgins said.
A huge number of the emails have been redacted, so we can assume that they contain….classified information. And possibly some very embarrassing information. Even emails about meeting Michael Bloomberg (via Legal Insurrection)

LI’s Amy Miller notes
So far, the content that has been reviewed thus far is incriminating both from a transparency standpoint, and from a PR standpoint. Sharyl Attkisson found several e-mails that should have been released back in 2012 as part of a large-scale FOIA request for information about Benghazi. Several other outlets, including The Blaze, noted at least one highly-redacted email that instructed its recipients to both not forward, and to delete the message after reading:
If a lower level Federal employee was doing this, or if high level civilian employees of companies were doing this, they would be facing huge legal repercussions.
And Hillary was super happy to have her new, unapproved by State IT, iPad!
Pathetic. So her defense is incompetence at her job? And she wants a promotion? cc: @HillaryClinton https://t.co/8fkAVhslQ4

The crystal ball is working overtime
(Yahoo News) Climate change is bringing small risks that tropical cyclones will form in the Persian Gulf for the first time, in a threat to cities such as Dubai or Doha which are unprepared for big storm surges, a U.S. study said on Monday.
Tampa in Florida and Cairns in Australia, two places where cyclones already happen, would be increasingly vulnerable to extreme storms this century, according to the report, based on thousands of computer models.
The shallow and warm waters of the Persian Gulf, where cyclones have never been recorded, might generate the storms in future as a side-effect of global warming, according to the study in the journal Nature Climate Change.
Perhaps I need to find a witch or some sort of monster doing a facepalm, to go with all the scary stories the Cult of Climastrology likes to tell?

Hyperventibloviation over at CNN from 1 expert
Expert: We’re ‘locked-in’ to 3 feet sea level rise
It was less than two years ago that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released its all-encompassing assessment on the current state of climate change research and made projections for the future climate of our planet.
According to the latest from NASA, however, the projections the panel made for a rise in global sea levels of 1 to 3 feet may already be outdated.
According to Steven Nerem of the University of Colorado, we are “locked into at least 3 feet of sea level rise, and probably more.”
Nerem said experts now think a rise in sea levels toward “the higher end of that range is more likely, and the question remains how that range might have to shift upwards.” (snip)
There are three main causes for rising sea levels: The expansion of warmer ocean water, melting mountain glaciers, and ice loss from the massive Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets.
Of course, CNN eludes to this all being caused by Mankind’s greenhouse gas output, despite this having all happened before. Despite the 20th Century seeing just 7 inches of sea rise, when it should have seen at least double that to be a very warm Holocene warm period. Oh, and
(No Tricks Zone) Â It appears the NOAA also agrees that sea level rise is not happening any where near as fast as many among us would like to think it is. At its site here, it writes the following n(my emphasis):
The graphs compare the 95% confidence intervals of relative mean sea level trends for CO-OPS and global stations. Trends with the narrowest confidence intervals are based on the longest data sets. Trends with the widest confidence intervals are based on only 30-40 years of data. The graphs can provide an overarching indication of the differing rates of regional vertical land motion, given that the absolute global sea level rise is believed to be 1.7-1.8 millimeters/year. Note that they are relative sea level trends, and are not corrected for local land movement. The calculated trends for all CO-OPS stations are available as a table in millimeters/year and in feet/century. A complete table of non-CO-OPS station trends are available as a table in millimeters/year and in feet/century.â€
Hurry up and read it before this gets taken down! To be on the safe side I’ve cut out the location of interest:
Even if sea rise was high, it still wouldn’t prove mostly/solely anthropogenic causation. Just what’s been going on throughout the Holocene, not too mention the rest of Earth’s history. If we do the math, it gives us 151 millimeters, using the 1.8 figure, by 2100. That equals……..just under 6 inches over the next 84 years. So, pretty much what we saw during the 20th century, and exactly average for the last 7,000 years.

She does!
(Baltimore Sun) Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby on Sunday addressed the city’s historic spike in homicides in an interview on WBAL-TV.
In July, 45 people were killed — the highest number in modern history. The city is on pace for more than 300 killings this year.
Mosby said the key to driving down the murder rate is for prosecutors and police to re-establish trust with the community.
She noted her prosecutors have recently sent several killers behind bars for life, and are partnering with city police on a new “War Room” initiative — in which city and federal agencies work in close collaboration.
Oh, you thought she was actually going to go out to stop crime, instituting strong policing measures, perhaps reaching out to the community and telling them to stop being so criminal. Nope. Arresting them afterwards and sending them to jail has nothing to do with stopping the crimes in the first place.
Perhaps Mosby could have a talk with Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake about rescinding her “giving space to those who wish to destroy” notion.
“This is the home of witness intimidation, where that ‘Stop Snitching’ mentality began,” Mosby said. “We have to build the trust of the community back up. … We’re absolutely on top of it.”
That mentality has nothing to do with the police and prosecutors: it has everything to do with the criminality of the citizens. This soft approach is not working, as witnessed during July. Perhaps there should be some concern that almost every single person murdered in Baltimore is Black, and the majority of the known killers are Black.
August hasn’t exactly been a good month either. And another person, Black, was murdered early Sunday. This is not the fault of the police and prosecutors, nor is community outreach going to stop anything.

Let’s start off with noting that when people fail to live by the rules they want Everyone Else to live be, that’s a moral failure. An inexcusable one
Failing to act on climate change is an inexcusable moral failure
The responses of coal country business leaders and politicians to the Clean Power Plan recently announced by President Barack Obama and the Environmental Protection Agency demonstrate that there are no limits to their willingness to pursue coal industry profits without regard for the harmful consequences of their decisions and actions.
The coal industry has a long history of such irresponsible behavior. That’s why West Virginia has biologically degraded streams from perpetual acid mine drainage, fish that can’t be eaten because of too much mercury in their flesh, unstable toxic sludge impoundments looming over communities, and ecologically vital headwater streams buried under massive piles of rubble. It’s also why coal miners experience agonizing deaths from black lung disease, coalfield residents suffer elevated risks of contracting numerous chronic or lethal diseases, and miners are stripped of their hard-won pensions and health benefits.
Now, see, those are actual real world issues. Those are reasons why I am against coal, and want to see it’s usage replaced. I’ve noted time and time again that the Cult of Climastrology hijacks these real world issues and puts them under the banner of ‘climate change’.
Yet in opposing the Clean Power Plan, these business leaders and politicians are rising to unprecedented levels of cynicism and recklessness. While they have long shown a willingness to turn regions of the world into virtual sacrifice zones, their new message is that they don’t mind doing the same thing to the entire planet. The coal industry is a primary contributor to the increase in greenhouse gases that is destabilizing our global climate and global ecosystems. We are already experiencing impacts from this destabilization, such as more violent and extreme storms, floods, wildfires and droughts. If we continue on our present course, the best evidence indicates that the impacts from climate change will shift from severe to catastrophic. So in opposing the Clean Power Plan, the message from these business leaders and politicians is that they don’t mind inflicting significant harm on every single person on the planet to protect industry profits. Not only that, but they don’t care if continuing to burn fossil fuels for energy degrades the planet for every human that will live on Earth in the future and places the very survival of future generations at risk.
See? There we go. Idiots. When will Jim Waggy at the Charleston Gazette-Mail give up his own big carbon footprint?
