German Professor Finds Massive Alterations To NASA Temperature Datasets

Well, color me shocked!

(No Tricks Zone) Veteran journalist Günter Ederer* writes a piece reporting that massive alterations have been found in the NASA GISS temperature data series, citing a comprehensive analysis conducted by a leading German scientist. These results are now available to the public.

Ederer reports not long ago retired geologist and data computation expert Professor Dr. Friedrich Karl Ewert began looking at the data behind the global warming claims, and especially the datasets of NASA’s Goddard Institute of Space Studies (GISS).

Ewert painstakingly examined and tabulated the reams of archived data from 1153 stations that go back to 1881 – which NASA has publicly available – data that the UN IPCC uses to base its conclusion that man is heating the Earth’s atmosphere through the burning of fossil fuels. According to Ederer, what Professor Ewert found is “unbelievable”:

From the publicly available data, Ewert made an unbelievable discovery: Between the years 2010 and 2012 the data measured since 1881 were altered so that they showed a significant warming, especially after 1950. […] A comparison of the data from 2010 with the data of 2012 shows that NASA-GISS had altered its own datasets so that especially after WWII a clear warming appears – although it never existed.”

Ederer writes that Ewert particularly found alterations at stations in the Arctic. Professor Ewert randomly selected 120 stations from all over the world and compared the 2010 archived data to the 2012 data and found that they had been tampered to produce warming.

The Cult of Climastrology has long been shown to have altered the data, what they will call “smoothing”. I’ve noted in the past that that yearly values have changed, with the past typically being adjusted downwards, and the current upwards. They often take the data from properly sited stations and stations out in the country (which provide more realistic readings) and adjust them upwards, thereby coming in line with the improperly sited stations and those in areas subject to an Urban Heat Island effect, which is a totally reversed way the data should be treated.

They also manufacture data out of nothing, especially in areas like the Arctic, Antarctic, Siberia, oceans, Africa, and so many other areas which have no monitoring stations.

The old data showed regular cycles of warming and cooling over the period, even as atmospheric CO2 concentration rose from 0.03% to 0.04%. According to the original NASA datasets, Ederer writes, the mean global temperature cooled from 13.8°C in 1881 to 12.9°C in 1895. Then it rose to 14.3°C by 1905 and fell back under 12.9°C by 1920, rose to 13.9°C by 1930, fell to 13° by 1975 before rising to 14°C by 2000. By 2010 the temperature fell back to 13.2°C. –

In other words, nothing beyond the typical natural. What’s manmade are the adjustments to the data sets. If the science is so darned sound, why this need to change the data to match the assumption? What is to be gained by the Cult of Climastrology?

NY Times Totally Worried About The Price Of Fear

The Editorial Board, comprised mostly of White People and men who live a nice 1%er life, is Very Concerned that everyone will overreact to the threat from ISIS and, primarily, wants to defend the “Syrian” refugees to Obama’s satisfaction

The Price of Fear

After the attacks in Paris, the world is again challenged by fear. With every bombing, beheading and mass shooting, the dread spreads, along with the urgency of defeating this nihilism.

But no less a challenge for the civilized world is the danger of self-inflicted injury. In the reaction and overreaction to terrorism comes the risk that society will lose its way.

What do they see as overreactions? The Iraq War (they just can’t get over it), which they initially supported, along with the majority of Democrats and intelligence agencies. Guantanamo Bay detention facility, which holds/held lots of stone cold jihadis, whom are called “perceived threats” by the EB. They do have a point on the expansion of the “ever-expanding surveillance apparatus”, which their Democratic elected officials seem to support.

Al Qaeda and the Islamic State did not compel us to shackle ourselves to a security state, or to disgrace our values by vilifying and fearing refugees and immigrants.

Yet, is this a perceived fear, or a true concern? In sales we refer to questions and concerns, and not to conflate questions with real concerns. A question is “how much does this cost?” A concern is “I’m not sure I can afford it”. The American people seem to be more in terms of asking a question, namely “how can we be assured that these refugees from places that feature hardcore Islam will not be extremists, and will be valued members of the USA?”

As for the members of the House, Democratic and Republican, who voted to effectively shut down the Syrian and Iraqi refugee program, and the governors who would somehow block Syrians from their borders — Americans should hope it’s just fearful ignorance that clouds their vision, and that in time it clears.

The bill in question requires several key members of the Obama administration to sign off on the background checks of each Syrian refugee, putting them on record. They do not want to do this. That’s how it “effectively shuts down” the refugee program. If these refugees were so darned safe, they’d have no problem signing off. They are obviously fearful of the potential fallout and have concerns over the background checks

Terrorist violence is terrifying, and it is natural to want to restore a shattered sense of safety. But the best way to do that has always been to draw upon our greatest ideals.

Our greatest ideals include protecting the citizenry from foreign threats. Humorously, the NY Times is the same paper that, well, let’s say, craps itself in fear over anthropogenic climate change constantly, like a 3 year old who thinks something moved under the bed or that the closet door moved. Concern for Islamic jihadis is very real, and poll after poll after poll show that the American People are concerned over that very real threat. Liberals worry about ACC, which is as imaginary as the monster under the bed and the boogeyman in the closet.

Bummer: Climate Change Is Killing Personal Style

Is there anything Hotcoldwetdry isn’t affecting? Well, in the minds of 1st World hysterics, of course. And, no, this isn’t a satire piece

(Racked) Climate change may be slowing eroding our planet and damaging ecosystems around the Earth, but the New York Times has got its finger on where this issue really hits home: our closets. In a weird, tone-deaf report from the Styles section, the paper profiles woeful New Yorkers who have had to leave their Burberry capes at home due to unseasonably warm weather this year, pointing to them as examples of where climate change really hits home.

“Yes, there are fears that Greenland is melting away,” a teaser for the article reads. “But for some, the impact of climate change is more personal and more immediate: Will they ever get to wear their winter clothes again?”

Peak Special Snowflake Syndrome Strikes UNC Chapel-Hill

It’s not that UNC, as it’s known, isn’t a hotbed of Special Snowflake Syndrome; it has long been a hive of lunacy leftism. This is more like turning the amplifier up to 11

(WRAL)  The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill held a town hall meeting Thursday night to provide the campus community an opportunity to share perspectives on how to make the university more inclusive.

Shortly after the meeting began at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall, a large group of students interrupted the event, claiming the university did not include them in the planning process. A few students read a list of 50 demands – ranging from higher faculty pay to the termination of the new UNC system president. The demands also included mandatory racial history education and the removal of statues like “Silent Sam,” a Confederate war memorial on campus.

A group of students, some of them from the Silent Sam Coalition, drafted the demands and released them ahead of Thursday’s forum.

If you’re thinking there was a bunch of screeching, caterwauling, rudeness, and everything else we’ve come to expect from these types of Special Snowflakes, you’d be correct.

The full list of demands is available here, and is about as nuts as you’d expect.

(Raleigh N&O) Their demands were expansive – the elimination of tuition and the use of SAT tests in admissions, no outsourcing of campus jobs and no investments in prisons. They called for gender neutral bathrooms and the firing of the recently hired UNC system president, Margaret Spellings. Then they read additional demands for administrators across the nation, at the University of Missouri, and across the world at the University of Cape Town.

The total list had 50 demands on a wide range of left wing stuff, but, this was all supposed to be about racism

“We all agree on one thing,” said Madrid Danner-Smith, a sophomore. “Systemic racism exists.”

His suggestion drew applause: “Mandatory racial equity training,” he said, for every student, professor, administrator and staff member. “That’s all I got to say.”

Can anyone explain why colleges, which tend to be hotbeds of liberalism, run by liberals, staffed by liberals, taught by liberals, have such a problem with racism, as well as rape and sexual assualt?

Paris Climate Summit Can Totally Bring About Peace Or Something

Warmist have long attempted to link ‘climate change’ and Everyone Else’s use of fossil fuels to just about every real world issue one can think of, be it the environment, economy, poverty, etc. Oh, and terrorism. As Marc Morano told the Washington Times

“They are desperately trying to link ‘global warming’ to terrorism or come up with conspiracy theories on how Big Oil interests may be behind the terror attacks,” Mr. Morano said in an email. “The climate activists are now trying to rebrand the U.N. climate summit as some sort of ‘peace summit’ where addressing ‘global warming’ will somehow solve terrorism and civil wars.”

Yes, they are desperate

Why a Climate Deal Is the Best Hope for Peace

….

All of this is perfectly understandable. When our safety feels threatened, it’s difficult to think of anything else. Major shocks like the Paris attacks are awfully good at changing the subject. But what if we decided to not let it happen? What if, instead of changing the subject, we deepened the discussion of climate change and expanded the range of solutions, which are fundamental for real human security? What if, instead of being pushed aside in the name of war, climate action took center stage as the planet’s best hope for peace?

This nuttiness is written by Jason Box, who I’m not familiar with, and Naomi Klein, who has repeatedly called for doing away with capitalism to combat Hotcoldwetdry. They go on to blame the Syrian conflict on ‘climate change’, saying it is “uncontroversial”, despite many, many, many saying “stop embarrassing yourselves by linking the two.”

If we acknowledge that the instability emanating from the Middle East has these roots, it makes little sense to allow the Paris attacks to minimize our already inadequate climate commitments. Rather, this tragedy should inspire the opposite reaction: an urgent push to lower emissions as rapidly and deeply as possible, including strong support for developing countries to leapfrog to renewable energy, creating much-needed jobs and economic opportunities in the process. That kind of bold climate transition is our only hope of preventing a future in which, as a recent paper in the journal Nature Climate Change put it, large areas of the Middle East will, by the end of the century, “experience temperature levels that are intolerable to humans.”

In other words, they want to hijack the Paris climate talks, where tens of thousands of Warmists descend using fossil fueled travel, and pretend that fascistic agreements that will stifle economies will solve the Islamic terrorism problem. Of course, neither author mentions who these terrorists are.

A climate summit taking place against the backdrop of climate-fuelled violence and migration can only be relevant if its central goal is the creation of conditions for lasting peace. That would mean making legally enforceable commitments to leave the vast majority of known fossil-fuel reserves in the ground. It would also mean delivering real financing to developing countries to cope with the impacts of climate change, and recognizing the full rights of climate migrants to move to safer ground. A strong climate-peace agreement would also include a program to plant vast numbers of native-species trees in the Middle East and the Mediterranean, to draw down atmospheric CO2, reduce desertification, and promote cooler and moister climates. Tree planting alone is not enough to lower CO2 to safe levels, but it could help people stay on their land and protect sustainable livelihoods.

Got that? All the terrorism by these un-named terrorists is caused by carbon pollution being above 350ppm, and, as they argued earlier in the missive, it will go away if these “legally enforceable committments” reduce the CO2 levels back below that level. Hey, remember back before around 1990, when CO2 crossed the 350ppm threshold, when there were no wars and no terrorism ever?

Islamists Attack Hotel In Mali, Take 170 Hostage

The funny part is how many news outlets are using a headline which says “gunman“, rather than something like Islamists or Muslims. It’s like they’re trying to instead blame the guns. As Obama once said, words matter

Gunmen attack luxury hotel in Mali capital, 170 taken hostage

Islamist gunmen stormed a luxury hotel packed with foreigners in Mali’s capital Bamako on Friday, taking 170 hostages in a former French colony that has been battling rebels allied with al Qaeda for several years.

A senior security source said some of the hostages had been freed after being made to recite verses from the Koran. The French newspaper Le Monde quoted the Malian security ministry as saying at least three hostages had been killed.

The raid on the Radisson Blu hotel, which lies just west of the city center near government ministries and diplomatic offices in the former French colony, comes a week after Islamic State militants killed 129 people in Paris.

The identity of the Bamako gunmen, or the group to which they belong, is not known.

We do know one thing: they’re Islamists. The nation is chock full of them, as this State Department warning made quite clear.

The security source said as many as 10 gunmen had stormed the building, firing shots and shouting “Allahu Akbar”, or “God is great” in Arabic. The hotel’s head of security said two private security guards had been injured in the early stages of the attack, which began at 7 a.m. (0200 ET).

There are reports that 3 are dead.

(NY Times) Kassim Traoré, a Malian journalist who was in a building about 50 meters from the Radisson, said the attackers asked hostages to recite a declaration of Muslim faith as a way separating Muslims from non-Muslims.

Those who could recite the declaration, the Shahada, were allowed to leave the hotel. The Shabab, a Qaeda affiliate in East Africa, used a similar approach in the attack at the Westgate Mall in Nairobi in 2013.

What are they after? Most news articles mention there being lots of French tourists. Supporters of the Islamic State even have a new hashtag, #Mali_Is_Burning.

(Reuters again) In the wake of last week’s Paris attacks, an Islamic State militant in Syria told Reuters the organization viewed France’s military intervention in Mali as another reason to attack France and French interests.

I’m sure that when he wakes up President Massive Carbon Footprint will be Very Concerned. Also, we can rest assured that leftist apologists will alert us to Christians doing Something Bad a millennium ago. I’ve never understood their dhimmitude towards radical Islam, which is direct competition with Progressives for control of government and society.

House Overwhelmingly Votes To Require Better Vetting Of Refugees

The LA Times tries a little bit misdirection. …oh, who am I kidding, their headine and first paragraph is a bald face partisan lie, unless…

Tapping heightened safety concerns after the Paris terror attacks, House Republicans — joined overwhelmingly by Democrats — approved legislation Thursday effectively halting the resettlement of refugees from Syria and Iraq to the U.S.

That’s designed to make the GOP look mean. But, then reality steps in

The House bill would require the leaders of the nation’s security apparatus — the heads of the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI and the Director of National Intelligence — to certify that refugees who are admitted pose no security threat.

The White House said the House bill creates “unnecessary and impractical requirements,” noting the current screening process takes up to 24 months. Critics say it would essentially shut down the program.

In other words, Team Obama is upset that they might be put on the record when it comes to these potential terrorists, and they Do Not Want That.

The vote was 289-137, with more than enough Democrats joining in to make it veto proof.

Sorry, Ladies, Red Lipstick Is Bad For ‘Climate Change’

This is the kind of thing that counts for Being Important in Liberal World

From the article

As a climate change advisor at the United Nations, 35-year-old Cassie Flynn spends her days talking about hefty issues. There are rising sea levels wiping out entire countries, droughts impacting the food security of an entire region, and mega-storms like Superstorm Sandy becoming the norm.  “It’s very hard not to feel overwhelmed by this,” she said. “You want to do nothing or leave it to the CEOs or world leaders or people having these large conversations.”

Name one country wiped by sea rise. Droughts have always occurred. The last superstorm like Sandy was…Sandy.

There’s entirely too much in this article which could be laughed at, so let’s skip to the lipstick schtick

Another video called “sustainable flirting” teaches you how to make better decisions when getting ready for a date. Both men and women use health and beauty products like makeup, deodorant, cologne, and hair products before leaving the house. These have chemicals that don’t break-up and accumulate in the ecosystem (“Talk about a shitty party,” says Flynn.) So it’s important to use products that are organic. “Ignore fancy words like ”natural’ or ‘hypoallergenic’ on the front and choose products with shorter lists of ingredients and avoid things that have synthetic fragrance,” she advises. Red lipsticks are particularly known for containing toxins like lead, so check if yours does!

Here’s the interesting part: from a true environmental standpoint, they’re correct. Yet, they aren’t arguing this out of concern for the actual wellbeing of the environment, but due to their unscientific believe in anthropogenic climate change. These people are fools.

It also goes to show that there are too many people in the 1st world who have nothing better to do with all their free time, thanks to all the modern advances these same people complain about.
