House Overwhelmingly Votes To Require Better Vetting Of Refugees

The LA Times tries a little bit misdirection. …oh, who am I kidding, their headine and first paragraph is a bald face partisan lie, unless…

Tapping heightened safety concerns after the Paris terror attacks, House Republicans — joined overwhelmingly by Democrats — approved legislation Thursday effectively halting the resettlement of refugees from Syria and Iraq to the U.S.

That’s designed to make the GOP look mean. But, then reality steps in

The House bill would require the leaders of the nation’s security apparatus — the heads of the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI and the Director of National Intelligence — to certify that refugees who are admitted pose no security threat.

The White House said the House bill creates “unnecessary and impractical requirements,” noting the current screening process takes up to 24 months. Critics say it would essentially shut down the program.

In other words, Team Obama is upset that they might be put on the record when it comes to these potential terrorists, and they Do Not Want That.

The vote was 289-137, with more than enough Democrats joining in to make it veto proof.

Everyday about 44 Americans are murdered, Teach why are you worrying about terrorism ?
Congress can’t even get it together to give Obama a declaration of war against ISIS Congress has an approval rating of 16% really who cares about what Congress does?

  2. david7134 says:

    john,
Once again stupid. Can’t you even get your facts together? Obama hasn’t asked for a declaration of war, he will not ask for one even if we are attacked. That is because the guy is about as stupid as you. The reason for Congress acting in this manner is a clear declaration that we have no confidence in Obama, he should resign. We have too many refuges here and need them out, as well as the illegals.

  3. gitarcarver says:

Everyday about 44 Americans are murdered,

Oh no john, the number is much higher. When you add in the number of abortions each day where a life is destroyed, it is more than 3000 murders as day. But you support those murders just like you support ISIS.

There is blood on your hands, john.

You support the killing of children. You support not allowing people to defend themselves.

    Blood on your hands.

  4. jl says:

Everyday about 94 people are killed in automobiles. John, why are you worrying about global warming? Really didn’t think that one out, did you?

  5. drowningpuppies says:

What one should find disturbing is that 137 members voted against the measure.

  6. Jeffery says:

Abortion is not murder. And it’s unlikely you really think that it is.

It’s clear hypocrisy to call an act murder and do nothing about it. I mean, according to you, people are murdering helpless babies and you are not doing everything to stop it. At least those that call the death penalty “murder” stand outside the prisons at midnight.

William claims a climate realist with an airplane ticket is the worst of hypocrites, proving that global warming is a hoax.

I would think the worst hypocrites are those watching a million innocent babies “murdered” each year, yet doing nothing to stop it but posting comments on conservablogs. Every few years an unhinged anti-abortion zealot works up the courage to skulk around and murder a doctor or a nurse or firebomb a clinic to stop the “murders”, but where are the millions of protestors, marching on Washington, blocking clinics, going to jail, sacrificing something of themselves to stop the “murder” of babies?

  7. Jeffery says:

Trump wants to register, tag and track Muslims.

Carson likens Syrian refugees to mad dogs.

Obama stamps his feet and yells at the Republicans
    Cruz wants to wrestle Obama.

George W. Bush looks like a statesman by contrast.

Who had something of substance to say?

    Our next president:

Didn’t hear anything about it? Thank our modern media. It takes more than 30 seconds to blast on TV.

Read the transcript to see what a prepared president sounds like.

  8. john says:

David way back in Feb Obama asked for authorization. Congress refusedhttp://www.cnn.com/2015/02/11/politics/isis-aumf-white-house-congress/
He specifically wanted authorization for boots on the ground.

  9. gitarcarver says:

It is not surprising that john has comprehension issues.

He specifically wanted authorization for boots on the ground.

    From his cited article:

He made clear, however, that the Authorization for the Use of Military Force, or AUMF, does not call for the deployment of ground troops in Iraq or Syria.

“I am convinced that the U.S. should not get back into another ground war in the Middle East — it’s not in our national security interest and not necessary for us to defeat ISIL,” he said.

The AUMF was a political ploy that managed to irritate both sides of the Congressional aisle. The Democrats didn’t like the expansion of strike capabilities and Republicans didn’t like the idea of authorization for use of force that put too many limits on the military.

In short, Obama wanted a AUMF (not a declaration of war as john had originally stated) that would absolve him of any leadership responsibilities as Commander in Chief.

To further illustrate the Obama administration’s failure to deal seriously with ISIS comes this:

U.S. Pilots Confirm: Obama Admin Blocks 75 Percent of Islamic State Strikes

‘We can’t get clearance even when we have a clear target in front of us’

  10. gitarcarver says:

Read the transcript to see what a prepared president sounds like.

Prepared to go to jail? Prepared to be arrested? Prepared to face indictments?

    THAT preparedness?

Clinton’s plan is as deep as she is. Her plan is to defeat ISIS is to defeat ISIS.

Her lack of comprehension is laid out for all to see here: Hillary announces her strategy to defeat ISIS: Defeat ISIS

Didn’t hear anything about it? Thank our modern media.

Go ahead and Google “Hillary Clinton Council on Foreign Relations.” In the news section there are 1640 in depth articles on the speech she gave.

The coverage includes CNN, Time Magazine, the New York Times, New York Daily News, ABC News, USA Today, LA Times, San Francisco Chronicle, US News and World Report, Salon, etc etc etc.

So if you didn’t hear anything about this CF of a speech, it is because you weren’t listening, not because of the media as Jeffery would have you believe.

  11. gitarcarver says:

Trump wants to register, tag and track Muslims.

    Nope.

  12. david7134 says:

    john,
Obama has never, ever asked for a declaration of war, quit lying.

  13. david7134 says:

    jeff,
Trump did not come up with the idea to register Muslims, I did and fully support it. Why don’t you want to track them? We tracked the Germans and Italians in WWII and reaped significant results. Now we are faced with a group that desires to kill us in the name of their religion, no not the climate nuts, the Muslims. Now, certainly you would incorporate Muslims that may be innocent, thought that is hard to do as they persist in their devotion to their cult and the words of the Prophet that call for killing the non-believer. Christians seem to have moved on from the stone age and spurn calls for killing in the name of religion, I am sure you don’t agree, but who really cares? Now, when the nut killed the black people in Charleston and was found with one picture with the Stars and Bars, you and your bunch immediately framed all freedom loving people as racist and killers. So, why can’t we do the same with Islam????

  14. drowningpuppies says:

Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people, and have nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism.
