Sorta Blogless Sunday Pinup

Happy Sunday! Another gorgeous day in America. Fall is in the air, the election is just a few days away, my laptop died. Yeah, my main one bit the dust. Hard drive failure. So bad that I cannot even hook it up to a device that connects into a USB. Did rescue most data, at least most of the important stuff. Sigh. OK, enough whining, this pinup is by Guilherme Asthma, with a wee bit of help.

What is happening in Ye Olde Blogosphere? The Fine 15

  1. Adrienne’s Corner wonders if Hillary is a Satanist

While we are on pinups, since it is that time of year, have you gotten your “Pinups for Vets” calendar yet? And don’t forget to check out what I declare to be our War on Women Rule 5 and linky luv posts and things that interest me

Don’t forget to check out all the other great material all the linked blogs have!

Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

Washington Post: Will Republicans Respect Democracy Or Something?

The Washington Post Editorial Board is rather upset about the notion that Republicans have promised to investigate the hell out of one of the shadiest, most dishonest, most crooked politicians in the history of this nation, should Hillary win on Tuesday

Will Republicans respect democracy?

THE BIG question after Tuesday’s election will not be whether Obamacare is repealed, Social Security expanded or the Ryan budget passed. It will be whether the nation’s leaders act to preserve our republic — or hasten a descent toward a banana republic.

Which is a hilarious line, considering that the WP in all facets has mostly been on board with Obama “legislating” by pen and phone within the Executive Office. Furthermore, they haven’t seemed to have that much of a problem with the Clinton Crime Syndicate and all the corruption. Nor did they seem to have an issue when rogue, politicized prosecutors went after Republicans with charges to mess with their candidacy or time in office. Rick Perry and Tom Delay come to mind.

And, if you’re mentioning “republic”, then you should be for reducing the size, scope, and power of the federal government and returning it back to the States and the People where it belongs.

Their first priority must be preserving and restoring the country’s democratic institutions and culture. The new president must advance an agenda and tone consistent with the goal of cultivating national unity. But it is just as important that Congress be open to — and seek — the same. That means looking for compromises where they are still possible, staffing the government in an orderly way and slowly rebuilding trust between the country’s disparate factions.

In other words, increase the size of the federal government. And Congress is supposed to just ignore all the corruption, criminality, violations of national security, etc and so on, you know the hit parade, of Hillary, who, let’s face it, will do about as much to seek national unity as Barack did.

Unfortunately, many congressional Republicans appear set on making an already corrosive atmosphere in Washington even more toxic. Rep. Jason Chaffetz (Utah), chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, promised to mire the country in years of investigations if Hillary Clinton wins. Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.) raised the possibility that Republicans would block any Clinton Supreme Court nominee. Now Republicans are brazenly and irresponsibly discussing the true nuclear option: impeachment.

Remember when the WPEB ran something similar in November 2004, saying that Democrats should cut out their impeachment talk and pledge to work with George Bush if re-elected? No? They didn’t? Well, certainly they ran editorials about all the assassination talk from Liberals? No? Huh. Should Congress ignore criminal violations? That’s what the WPEB wants. For a Democrat.

Barring some truly new and explosive revelation, an impeachment drive would ultimately fail. A two-thirds majority of the Senate would not convict, and that outcome would reflect more than just partisanship. This sentence should not need writing: There is no substantiated charge against Ms. Clinton that would warrant impeachment, or even talk of impeachment.

As to the first, they’re probably correct. Democrats would certainly vote against impeachment even with specific evidence of criminal wrongdoing. As to the last, need it be written again that others not named Clinton have been prosecuted and jailed for doing much less than Hillary?

But, hey, the WPEB wants to save democracy! If that’s the case, then why has their own coverage been so biased? Why are they not the gatekeepers? The Press was given a specific mention in the 1st Amendment to make sure they could do their job in investigating government. Instead, they’ve become advocates for one political party. We all know how outlets like the WP would respond if all the allegations towards Hillary, Bill and their so-called charity were Republicans. Constant investigations and unhinged coverage. Just consider how they covered Abu Ghraib, and tried to pin it directly on Bush. Think how they covered Bush firing all those federal prosecutors, who serve at the pleasure of the president, and that there was no outcry when Bill Clinton did the same.

As much as I dislike Trump, it would be fun watching media heads explode if he wins. It would be 4 years of great blogging material from the leftist media.

Vancouver Considers Abandoning Coast Line From ‘Climate Change’

Typical scaremongering and climaderangement from the Cult of Climastrology

(Motherboard) Vancouver prides itself on being a coastal city, nestled between the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific. Like every other part of the world, it’s under threat from climate change, as warming temperatures cause sea levels to creep ever-higher. The city is looking at many options to hold back the rising water—and for the first time, retreat from the coast is one of them.

This week, Vancouver officials put out a report laying out plenty of options to deal with sea level rise, including barriers, dykes, and seawalls. But it also suggests that, at least in some parts of the city, they may want to consider just getting people out of the way. The option of retreat from the coast is on the table in Vancouver, and other cities might soon follow. (snip)

According to the report, retreat in Vancouver would involve the city buying up residences and other property and ‘re-naturalizing’ them. This means essentially allowing them to flood, in order to protect other areas. Of course, many residents of the city—where the average price of a detached home is well over $1 million—may not be eager to up and move. (snip)

Doug Smith, who is Vancouver’s director of sustainability, said that while retreating from sea level rise is “really a last case or worst case scenario,” it was important to present all available options as the city decides how to tackle the problem.

“It’s on the table, and I think just from a due diligence perspective we need to have that honest conversation with people,” he said.

Yes, let’s have an honest conversation, via the old meme about a picture saying 1,000 words at .12 feet over 100 years

That comes from NOAA. ‘Nuff said.

Obama Pimps Dying Affordable Care Act In Weekly Address

Some enterprising reporter should ask Barack if he plans on signing up for Ocare once he leaves the White House, or if he’ll sign up for a plan elsewhere

WEEKLY ADDRESS: The Progress We’ve Made Because of the Affordable Care Act

Hi, everybody. Americans have been fighting for the idea that health care is a right and not a privilege since the second-to-last time the Cubs won the World Series. I’m not talking about the 2016 Cubs – I’m talking about the 1908 Cubs.

Good grief. He actually worked the Cubs in to the address. Just. Stop.

That’s a really long time. And thanks to the efforts of so many of you, we did it. Today, 20 million more American adults know the financial security of health insurance. On top of that, another three million more kids have coverage than when I took office. In fact, never in American history has the uninsured rate been lower than it is right now – and health care prices have been rising slower than they have in 50 years.

Of course, the idea was to insure the 40-45 million Americans without health insurance, so, 20 million or so will get hit by the IRS for failing to have insurance. Because the law mandates that people purchase health insurance. And, also don’t forget, that financial security doesn’t include not being able to use the insurance because the deductibles are so expensive.

The number isn’t really 20 million, either.

If you haven’t gotten covered yet, now’s the time to do it.

Because the Government will come calling and penalize you for being an American.

Now, most of us don’t get our health care through the Marketplace. We get it through our job, or through Medicare or Medicaid. And what you should know is that, thanks to the Affordable Care Act, your coverage is better today than it was before.

Most of us have seen our costs go up thanks to Ocare.

You now have free preventive care. There are no more annual or lifetime limits on essential health care. Women can get free checkups, and you can’t get charged more just for being a woman. Young people can stay on a parent’s plan until they turn 26. Seniors get discounts on their prescriptions. And no one can be denied coverage just because of a preexisting condition.

They could have done those things without all the Progressive (nice Fascist) things included in Ocare, without screwing up health insurance, without screwing with the definition of “full time worker,” and so much more.

Insurance is based on the idea that we’re all in it together. That’s what makes it work. And it’s the same idea that’s always made America great. Thanks everybody, and have a good weekend.

So, why not go with the Republican idea of allowing insurance and insurance polls across state lines? If we’re all in it together, why did the Democrat Congress opt themselves out? What he really means is that it would be a good idea to move towards a Public Option ending with Single Payer.

Woman Who Accused Trump Of Rape Quietly Drops Lawsuit

Democrats have been crowing about how Donald Trump was going to have to go to court after the election, positioning a federal lawsuit as a criminal case, thinking that it could land him in jail. Neither is going to happen

(Politico) A woman who accused Donald Trump of raping her two decades ago when she was a 13-year-old aspiring teen model has again dropped a federal lawsuit over the alleged assaults.

The accuser, identified in the lawsuit by the pseudonym “Jane Doe,” was expected to appear at a news conference in Los Angeles Wednesday, but that appearance was abruptly canceled.

In the most recent suit, Trump’s accuser asserted that while she was exploring a modeling career in 1994, she attended a series of parties at the Manhattan home of prominent investor Jeffrey Epstein. She alleges that during those parties the real estate mogul tied her to a bed and raped her. She also claimed Epstein raped her during that series of gatherings

Here’s my problem with this case and all the other allegations: none seemed to have gone to the police. None seemed to have filed charges against Trump. Then, suddenly, decades later, they come up with allegations.

The accuser’s lead attorney, Thomas Meagher of New Jersey, did not immediately respond to requests for comment. He filed a one-page notice dismissing the case Friday evening in federal court in Manhattan. No explanation was given for the action.

The UK Daily Mail notes in an article that names her and has her picture

She claimed her motivation to tell her story was to expose Donald Trump to stop him from becoming president.

‘We would have a rapist in the White House. I would feel horrified every single day if I stay in this country,’ she said, in dramatic terms.

Sounds more like she’s just trying to stop Trump. As for a rapist in the White House, that’s what you get if Hillary is elected.

But she also said that in 1994 she had no idea who her attacker was and that it was only when she watched The Apprentice that she came to believe it was Trump, claiming that she could not forget her attacker’s face.

So, zero proof. It could very well be that Epstein raped/sexually assaulted her, because he is a scumbag who’s been under investigation for luring underage girls and served time for soliciting prostitution.

Oh, and Epstein has lots of links to Bill and Hillary Clinton. Huh.

Good News: We Now Have A Social Justice Warrior Princess!

Yeah, this is a thing

A lot of people are quick to accuse me of being a “Social Justice Warrior.” I just wanted to be very clear and say that when you casually throw around phrases like that, you are actually diminishing the complexity of who I really am. My preferred term is “Social Justice Warrior Princess.”

Yeah, it doesn’t get any more sane after that. I’d like to believe this is a joke, but, looking at the rest of the site, I don’t think so.

No offense (well, offense, of course!), it doesn’t look like she’s seen the inside of a gym any time in memory. Like a lot of Millenials, she seems rather doughy with little muscle tone. Obviously, that’s sexxxxxist.

Any these people are nuts.

Say, Why Don’t We Talk About ‘Climate Change’ More?

It couldn’t possibly be that no one really cares. Oh, no. Not in Warmist World

(Grist) Why don’t we talk about climate change more?

To find out, Greta Johnson and Tricia Bobeda — hosts of WBEZ’s Nerdette podcast — brought climate scientist Heidi Cullen to talk to 13 Chicago families about climate change and its dangers.

They found that people are scared of climate change — for good reason — and that makes them shut down:

One Loop resident admitted “climate change is important.” But when we asked if he’d think and talk about it more after having Cullen at his kitchen table, he replied, “Nope.”

If he did, he said, he’d just walk around depressed all the time.

So, based on one person, we now know that we generally do not talk about the issue….and what they mean is talk about it to come up with Solutions…. because we’re too scared and we shut down and it makes us depressed. Or something

Still, we persist in avoiding the topic. “In a lot of ways, I think this project affirmed many of my own concerns and fears about climate change,” Johnson told Grist. “I know it’s something I should be concerned about, but it’s also just so overwhelming and theoretical that it’s difficult to contemplate.”

Theoretical. More like prognostication for Madame Zelda at the carnival. This does all show that members of the Cult of Climastrology are all nuts, and are attempting to make everyone else as nutty as they are.
