There’s A ‘Climate Change’ Related Theory To Game Of Thrones That Could Change How You Watch Or Something

Is there anything that the Cult of Climastrology does not try and ruin? These nutjobs keep trying to make Game Of Thrones all about Hotcoldwetdry

THE ‘GAME OF THRONES’ THEORY THAT WILL COMPLETELY CHANGE THE WAY YOU WATCH THE SHOW

Seven years in, Game of Thrones has overtaken pop culture like a horde of White Walkers hell-bent on destruction, with scores of analysts, sleuths, and obsessives tune in to weigh in on the comings-and-goings of the Stark family, the villainous Lannisters, and Daenerys Targaryen’s fiery path toward conquest. Tinfoil-capped fans have pushed every theory you can think of — several of which make sense — but so many of them focus on secret notes, incest, and claims of parentage, that we often neglect the core subtext underneath the production values that go into creating life-like dragons.

Let’s shear away the fantasy and the acting chops and the machinations to “win” the “game of thrones.” This epic story has always been about something pretty obvious: humans have an uncanny, self-destructive tendency to fight among themselves while the world around them is getting obliterated by a larger existential threat.

Think we’re talking White Walkers? Sure, but also: climate change.

It’s not hard to see how the extremes of hot and cold offer representations of the climate crisis. “Ice” ties into the cold-emitting, snowy White Walkers and their reanimated corpses (known as wights), and also the troops of the North, including our heroes of the Stark clan. The “Fire” in turn refers to the fire-breathing dragons of Daenerys Targaryen, and in many ways, all acts of destruction, like the man-made wildfire that Cersei Lannister unleashed in Season 6.

And like the current climate crisis, Martin’s fantastical war between Fire and Ice dates back a very long time. The struggle began when the First Men arrived in Westeros 12,000 years ago, invading the territory of a fairy-like race called the Children of the Forest. The Children used their magic to destroy the First Men’s migratory land bridge and created the White Walkers, a decision that backfired stupendously. Led by an ice-crowned Night King, the White Walkers’ penchant for freezing everything in their path forced the Children of the Forest and the First Men to band together, fight them off, and build the Wall in the North to stopper their threat.

This stuff keeps going on and on and on and on. Can’t we just watch a good show? Can’t people who are more cultish than Scientologists just leave things alone?

Deportations Way Down As Trump Effect Hits Illegal Aliens

Say what you want, the “fear” that Trump and his people are stoking in the illegal alien crowd is working

(The Monitor) The number of undocumented immigrants deported during the first half of 2017 fell 14 percent from a year earlier as fewer people tried to illegally enter the United States on the southern border, according to the Trump administration.

There were 104,618 people deported through June, down from 121,170 during the same months in 2016, according to data provided Thursday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in response to a query.

In previous years, the number of deportations was boosted by law enforcement officials apprehending more people just after they illegally crossed the U.S. border, said Matthew Bourke, an ICE spokesman. As fewer people enter the United States illegally on the border, “removals are going to be impacted,” he said.

It’s a simple equation: if you stop pandering to those who are in the U.S. illegally, and stop being squishy on those who cross the border illegally, fewer will come. If you’re rounding up illegals, regardless of whether they’ve committed felonies or not, and deporting them, if you’re doing more raids, if you’re making it harder for businesses to employ them, they will not come in as great a number.

Even as deportations have declined, arrests of undocumented immigrants by ICE agents increased 37 percent in the first six months of the year, compared with the same period last year. This year, there were 75,026 arrests, compared with 54,683 a year earlier.

Among those arrested, more of the suspects than in previous years have never committed a crime, said Ryan Eller, executive director of Define American, an advocacy group that tells immigrants’ stories to frame debate on the topic.

Except for the crime of being in the United States illegally.

Surprise: Majority Supports Leaving Confederate Statues Up

What to do about the Confederate statues, what to do. Many of them were put in right after the Confederacy lost, to honor the dead. A second time of big emplacements came on the 50th anniversary, followed by the 100th, which coincided with the time of the Civil Rights era. The question is, does anyone really care that much? Are they just statues that sit around for which most do not know who they are and what they stand for?

It’s a poll the Washington Post doesn’t like, so they go all Vox in explaining it

President Trump came out strongly in opposition to removing Confederate statues from public places, saying it was “sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments.”

That appeal to “history and culture” echoes arguments made by neo-Confederate groups, who, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, couch claims about the meaning of statues and other Confederate symbols in terms of “heritage and other supposedly fundamental values that modern Americans are seen to have abandoned.”

They’re also made by Native Americans regarding their land, when minorities complain about gentrification, about clothing trends, and so much more. There’s even a Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Are they neo-Confederate groups? Of course, the point here is to paint all as raaaaacists.

Most mainstream historians note, on the other hand, that the whole point of Confederate monuments is to celebrate white supremacy. Most of them were erected between 1895 and World War I, “part of a campaign to paint the Southern cause in the Civil War as just and slavery as a benevolent institution,” according to University of North Carolina historian Karen Cox.

OK, then.

But the president is not a historian, and neither are most members of the American public. A survey by the Economist and YouGov earlier this week found that, by more than 2 to 1, Americans believe that Confederate monuments are symbols of Southern pride rather than of white supremacy.

Wow, that’s a big middle finger to the American public, is it not? Regardless, that’s hop most Southerners think of the statues (when they think of them at all) and the various forms of the Confederate flag. Not as white supremacy, not as White separatism (different from supremacy), not as Jim Crow laws (implemented by Democrats), but, simply as pride in being a Southerner. As people who are into freedom, self governance, limited government, the rule of law, and being helpful and polite to people.

Whites (66 percent), Republicans (84 percent) and Americans over age 65 (71 percent) are especially likely to say that Confederate monuments represent pride rather than supremacy. Liberals (54 percent), Hillary Clinton voters (52 percent) and black Americans (47 percent) are the groups most likely to say that the monuments stand for white supremacy.

So, wait: only 47 percent of Black Americans say they stand for white supremacy? Not even half?

The rest is about bashing Trump, because the media is totally non-partisan, you guys.

Personally, I couldn’t care less about the statues. They mean nothing to me. Nor the names of different things. But, where does it stop? If you give a lefty an inch, they’ll want to take the whole interstate highway. Where does it end?

Why will none of these same people call for removing/renaming all things Robert Byrd? A painting of this former KKK recruiter and white supremacist hangs in the Capitol Building. How about all the statues and busts of Senator Sam Ervin (NC), who was a segragationist? No one at UNC-Chapel Hill is calling for a bust removal. Why not raise Richmond to the ground? It was the capital of the Confederacy, after all.

Let’s give Manhattan back to the Indians. Liberals like to say we stole it. And rename all the the towns in California that have Spanish names, because that’s cultural appropriation. Shall we replace all headstones everywhere that mention the Confederacy? Shall we demolish the Confederate memorial at Arlington National Cemetery? Destroy all mentions of the Confederacy at Civil War battlegrounds? Getting absurd, eh?

How about this: even General Robert E. Lee thought that monuments were a bad thing. Let’s take down all the ones erected from the late 1890’s on, and place them in storage. Any that honor the dead can remain. If we do that, can we move on?

What Say To A Year In Jail For Failing To Use The Wrong Gender Confused Pronoun Or Name?

If you’re guessing this is in California, congratulations. Though, New York and a few other bastions of Progressivism (lunatic, nutjob, wackadoodle nice fascism)

(Breitbart) A new bill being considered by the California State Senate would punish people who “willfully and repeatedly” refuse “to use a transgender resident’s preferred name or pronouns” in a public health, retirement or housing institution.

The bill, SB 219, was proposed by State Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco). It includes several other provisions that require a health facility, for example, to honor the gender identity of a patient, meaning that the patient must be admitted to a room that comports with his or her chosen gender; allowed to use whatever bathroom he or she wants to use; and wear whatever clothing or cosmetics he or she decides to wear. It has gone through several amendments.

CBN News notes: “Fines for repeat offenders could be as high as $1,000 and a jail term of up to a year.”

Punishing thought and Free Speech.

CBN also reports the testimony of the California Family Council’s Greg Burt:

How can you believe in free speech, but think the government can compel people to use certain pronouns when talking to others? … This is not tolerance. This is not love. This is not mutual respect. True tolerance tolerates people with different views. We need to treat each other with respect, but respect is a two-way street. It is not respectful to threaten people with punishment for having sincerely held beliefs that differ from your own.

Perhaps Mr. Wiener should read the actual Constitution of California

Article I Section 2: Every person may freely speak, write and publish his or her sentiments on all subjects, being responsible for the abuse of this right. A law may not restrain or abridge liberty of speech or press.

Pretty freaking clear, is it not?

Study: Sea Rise In Miami Area Has Nothing To Do With ‘Climate Change’

Let’s look at this in two parts. First, the Spectator’s Ross Clark learned a valuable lesson, namely, you dare not ask Al Gore to offer proof. In regards to the claims of AGW causing flooding in the Miami area in Gore’s movies, Clark reached out to Shimon Wdowinski, associate professor of marine geology and geophysics at the Florida International University, the exact type of scientist one would want to talk to. Wdowinski suggested that the relationship between melting glaciers, climatic changes, and sea rise is more complex than Gore’s film makes out. Clark was given 8 minutes to interview Gore, and

When I put all this to Al Gore and ask him whether his film would be stronger if it acknowledged the complexities of sea level rise — why it is rising in some places and not in others — I am expecting him to bat it away, saying that it doesn’t counter his central point and that there is a limit to what you can put into a film pitched at a mass audience, but his reaction surprises me. As soon as I mention Professor Wdowinski’s name, he counters: ‘Never heard of him — is he a denier?’ Then, as I continue to make the point, he starts to answer before directing it at me: ‘Are you a denier?’ When I say I am sure that climate change is a problem, but how big a one I don’t know, he jumps in: ‘You are a denier.’

That is a strange interpretation of the word ‘deny’, I try to say. But his PR team moves in and declares ‘Time’s up’, and I am left feeling like the guy in Monty Python who paid for a five-minute argument and was allowed only 30 seconds. On the way out, a frosty PR woman says to me: ‘Can I have a word with you?’ I wasn’t supposed to ask difficult questions, she says, because ‘this is a film junket, to promote the film’.

This is what people who cannot defend their beliefs do: deflect. Gore refuses to debate his beliefs, because he knows he would lose. Then there’s this

Florida’s Sea Level Rose 6x Faster Than Average And It’s Not Due To Climate Change

If you’re living along the coast of Florida you experienced sea level rising six times faster than the global average and this was NOT a result of climate change. The rapid sea level rise along the US east coast from Cape Hatteras to Miami is the result of a localized sea level rise hot spot.

A new study, published in Geophysical Research Letters and undertaken by the University of Florida analyzed tidal and climate data for the southeastern seaboard of the United States. They found that between the years 2011 and 2015 sea level rose more than six times faster in the southeast United States as compared to global average sea level rise.

What is the cause of accelerated yet localized sea level rise? The answer is not climate change, but naturally-occurring climate variations superimposed on the background steady sea level rise due to a warming planet. While you may have heard of the gradual rise in sea levels globally over the past century, there appear to be rapid climate processes that affect localized sea levels on the year(s) time scale.

But, then, I’m sure Warmists, with their narrow cult-like dogma, will figure out a way to link it to/blame Mankind. Or just ignore it. Or deflect.

AG Jeff Sessions Continues Blasting Chicago Over Sanctuary City Status

Consider what he said in Miami, now that the city has given up its sanctuary jurisdiction status

(Miami Herald) Attorney General Jeff Sessions came to Miami on Wednesday to deliver a stark warning on the dangers of “criminal aliens” and praised the county’s mayor for being the first big-city leader to abandon “sanctuary” protections and detain local inmates for federal immigration officers.

“Sanctuary jurisdictions provide safe harbor for some of the most dangerous criminals in our country. That makes a sanctuary city a trafficker, smuggler, or a predator’s best friend,” Sessions said at PortMiami before an audience of local and federal law-enforcement authorities. “The people of Miami-Dade know that the rule of law guarantees equality and opportunity … Protecting this guarantee is why the government of Miami-Dade made its decision — and is working with federal law enforcement, not against us.”

Now about Chicago in the same speech (which is only mentioned near the end of the above article)

Sessions used much of his speech to contrast Miami’s declining crime rate with a spate of murders in Chicago, which is suing the Trump administration over its own sanctuary policies. Chicago and other cities claim the White House can’t withhold federal funds based on declining the detention requests, which hold people after they would otherwise be free to go on local charges.

“In Chicago — a city with almost exactly the same 2.7 million person population as Miami-Dade — more than 433 people have been murdered just since the beginning of the year … That’s more than three times as many as Miami-Dade,” Sessions said. “Respect for the rule of law has broken down. In Chicago, their so-called “sanctuary” policies are just one sad example.”

And more

(Time) Attorney General Jeff Sessions continued his condemnation of Chicago’s sanctuary policies, which limit interactions between the local government and immigration authorities, saying they amount to “lawlessness” and put citizens lives in danger in a Wednesday afternoon speech.

“These policies of sanctuary cities do far broader damage to the country than many understand. At its root, it is a rejection of our immigration laws and a declaration of open borders,” Sessions said. ” It says if you enter the country last week with a criminal record and get to Chicago, we will not even support deporting you even after you commit a serious crime against one of our citizens. This is lawlessness.”

It is lawlessness. It is prioritizing people who are unlawfully present in the country, in contradiction of federal law, over U.S. citizens and those who are lawfully present. Chicago isn’t just protecting those “with no criminal records”, but those with criminal records. Serious criminal records. Rape, assault, robbery, burglary, theft, arson, attempted murder, and murder, among others.

One of the reasons given for Miami being a sanctuary jurisdiction was that they wanted to be reimbursed by Washington for the costs to hold an illegal on a detainer for that 48 hour hold. Actually, that is not unreasonable, and should be considered. The cost surely isn’t that much, and would be worth looking into, just like it would be worth it to make detainers into actual federal warrants, which require compliance by all law enforcement.

Are You In Favor Of Free Speech In Canada? Then You Must Be A Swastika Carrying Nazi

The so-called anti-Fascist forces here in the U.S., otherwise known as Antifa, likewise like to shut down free speech, often with violence, and usually with threats of violence

(Daily Caller) Ryerson University canceled a panel Wednesday dedicated to discussing the silencing of free speech on college campuses, citing “campus safety.”

The Canadian school canceled “The Stifling of Free Speech on University Campuses,” an Aug. 22 panel featuring three doctors and a pro-free speech journalist, citing a prioritization of “campus safety” over free speech “in light of recent events,” according to correspondence obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Social justice activists set up a Facebook page entitled “No Fascists in Our City!” to protest the event. The page’s header image depicted a swastika crossed out.

Got that? If you want free speech, then you’re Hitler.

“[Progressive activists] were calling me a Nazi, a fascist, and an anti-Semite,” Dr. Gad Saad, a Concordia University marketing professor and one of the panelists, told TheDCNF. “I’m Jewish. So, they’ve lost the plot. It’s a form of lunacy that’s difficult to diagnose.”

The organizer is named Sarina Singh, not a name typically associated with Nazis.

Saad noted that people who express incorrect opinions get beheaded in the Middle East. He said that while the West was not yet at that stage, activists could “do the next best thing” and go after a speaker’s livelihood, reputation, and platform to speak. He suggested that “cowardice is the eighth deadly sin,” and that universities did not possess the “effort, courage, and testicular fortitude” to stand up to those trying to silence speech.

“You never pacify thuggery. You don’t pacify someone who’s trying to rape you. These people are intellectual terrorists. They’re rapists of truth,” Saad added.

Yes, they are. What was this really about?

“Fascists are planning to meet on August 22nd at Ryerson University to discuss how to avoid what they call ‘SJW’ Culture,” the protest description reads. “Tickets are being sold for $20 and frankly it makes us virulently ill … Considering the rise of Nationalism here and abroad we need to show these people and their guests that we will not tolerate their backward nonsense in our city.”

In other words, the so-called anti-Fascists were using fascist methods to shut down a conference on free speech that shows how people can use free speech to avoid being destroyed by Social Justice Warriors. They should probably read Vox Day’s SJWs Always Lie. It explains how to deal with these SJW Antifa free speech haters, but, of course, the school has fallen into the trap of the violence exclusion, whereby they shut down free speech due to threats of violence.

“Apparently supporting freedom of speech makes you a Nazi these days,” Saad told TheDCNF. “I think our existence is now hate speech … that I exist as an independent person who spews his thoughts freely is an affront to those who wish to control me … Orwell couldn’t have come up with the realities that we’re facing today.”

Well, if you have what is considered Wrongthink by the political Left, which is really just as authoritarian as Nazis and other fascists, they’ll do all they can to shut you down.

Good News: We’re Soon Doomed From “Super Heat Waves”

The latest in doom and gloom from the Cult of Climastrology

New study: ‘Super heat waves’ of 131°F coming if global warming continues unchecked

In Europe, the recent heat wave was so extreme — with temperatures reaching 111°F (44°C), fueling wildfires and wasp attacks — it was nicknamed “Lucifer.” In the Middle East, as temperatures soared to 121°F (50°C), “birds in Kuwait have reportedly been dropping from the sky,” the International Business Times reported Friday.

The fires were caused by Mankind starting them, not by too much carbon pollution. It gets hot in the Middle East. Heat waves have always happened, even in the midst of Holocene cool periods. Surprise!

But, new research says, we ain’t seen nothing yet. A new study by the Joint Research Centre (JRC), the European Union’s science and research lab, finds that “if global temperatures rise with 4°C [7°F], a new super heat wave of 55°C [131°F] can hit regularly many parts of the world, including Europe” and the United States.

So, if we go by the models, which have failed 95% of the time, things will get super bad. This is followed by continued doomsaying, leading to

Staying below 2°C rise requires all nations of the world, including ours, to not merely achieve our emissions reduction pledges made in Paris in December 2015, but to keep strengthening those reductions every few years until total global emissions are zero sometime in the second half of the century. And that can’t happen as long as Donald Trump — or any comparable global warming denier — is in office.

What does this mean? More government, taxation, fees, limited freedom, higher cost of living. Why do Warmists think none of these things will harm their own lives?
