Majority Of Adults (almost half of whom don’t watch football) Disagree On Firing Kneeling NFL Players

This is supposed to be a Big Thing from Reuters

A majority of adults disagree with Trump on firing athletes who kneel during anthem: Reuters/Ipsos poll

A majority of Americans disagree with President Donald Trump’s assertion that football players should be fired for kneeling during the national anthem, even though most say they would personally stand during the song, according to an exclusive Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll released on Tuesday.

The Sept. 25-26 poll found that 57 percent of adults do not think the National Football League should fire players who kneel. This included 61 percent of NFL fans who watch at least a few games per season.

The results were split along party lines, however, as 82 percent of Democrats and 29 percent of Republicans disagreed with the president’s comments about firing football players. (full poll results here)

The actual breakdown of respondents is “1,622 people, including 628 Democrats, 583 Republicans and 919 people who watched a football game at least a few times during the season.” 222 respondents were independents Other polls show that the majority who watch football are Republicans with high voting tendencies. Yet, more Democrats in the poll? They want to kill the NFL to start with.

We also learn

In addition, 53 percent of Americans do not think it is appropriate for the president to comment on “how the NFL and its players conduct themselves during the national anthem.”

35% approve. I’m in the “dude, stop, and you shouldn’t have even started camp.” Over course, the breakdown of D/R/I is 76%/26%/59%.

43% strongly/somewhat dissaprove of the way the NFL is handling this, with 36% somewhat strongly approving. 20% do not know. 71% of Republicans, the primary viewers of the NFL, disapprove.

16% say their view is more favorable of NFL, 47% say view hasn’t changed, while 37% say more negative. 67% of Republicans say more negative. I wonder how much money that equates to in lost revenue?

Here’s where it gets really fun

That’s right, 27% never watched football at all last year. 44% of the respondents haven’t watched this year. Without think about potential implications, let’s just note that a large number of included respondents don’t even watch the NFL! What’s the point of including them in a discussion of the NFL? It’s like asking me to comment on bull riding or the NBA: I don’t watch either.

Anyhow, combine this with the reality that DirectTV is allowing customers to receive refunds for their Sunday NFL Ticket football package. They’re getting a lot of calls to cancel.

The Daily Caller highlights another poll

A survey by Remington Research Group found that 64 percent of voters agreewith President Trump and want players to stand for the anthem. The survey also found that 80 percent of voters want less politics in sports, while 51 percent say they are watching less football than in previous years.

Among those watching less football, 69 percent pointed to “Players using the NFL as a stage for their political views” as the primary reason why.

Look, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: it’s not the protest itself, it’s the timing of the protest, and who they’re protesting. What they’ve actually managed to do (besides driving fans from the NFL) is to divide people, instead of bringing people over to their side. Remember the old saying about catching more flies with honey than vinegar? These pampered elitist players and coaches are using vinegar. Especially when they’re following a guy who wore socks depicting cops as pigs. And is a big fan of Malcolm X and Fidel Castro. That doesn’t win people over.

Global Warming Could Be Causing Extreme Cold Snaps Or Something

It’s moving into colder times in the northern hemisphere, so it’s time for the Cult of Climastrology to tell us that heat trapping gasses also cause it to get cold. And not just cold, but extreme cold

Yes, Global Warming Could Be Causing Extreme Cold Snaps

Unusually cold conditions bring out the climate change deniers, who ask how it can be so chilly if the world is warming up. Of course, a few days of inclement weather hardly refute a global trend, but according to one theory, higher temperatures might actually be causing more extreme cold bouts at northern latitudes in winter. The idea, once thought to be pretty out there, has just got more backing.

As the world has warmed, the Arctic Ocean has experienced one of the largest increases in temperature of anywhere on Earth – just as climate models predicted. This has led to a dramatic loss of sea ice, which normally forms an insulating barrier on the top of the ocean. Without this insulation, more heat reaches the atmosphere, causing warming that spans all the way to the stratosphere.

Nevertheless, the stratosphere is very, very cold, particularly over the pole. Normally that does not really affect the rest of the world. “In winter, the freezing Arctic air is normally ‘locked’ by strong circumpolar winds several tens of kilometers high in the atmosphere, known as the stratospheric polar vortex, so that the cold air is confined near the pole,” said Marlene Kretschmer, a graduate student at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, in a statement.

However, Kreschmer is the first author of a paper in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society, showing that extra warmth rising from the polar ocean has frequently weakened the stratospheric polar vortex. This has allowed blasts of bitterly cold air to sweep down on Europe and Russia, which she argues is the reason why these areas have had so many cold Januaries and Februaries in recent years.

Have you ever noticed that they always have some sort of Excuse, some sort of rational, some sort of link, readily available to uphold their cultish beliefs?

Suddenly, Democrats Are Very Into Expressing Love For Country

The always Excitable Don Lemon encapsulates the (fake) feelings of leftists

(Mediaite) Don Lemon led CNN Tonight with a monologue about how President Trump can’t force Americans to embrace a homogenous view of patriotism and First Amendment rights.

As Trump continues to spar with athletes who kneel during the National Anthem, Lemon noted that the protests of Colin Kaepernickwere never about disrespecting the American flag or the military. Lemon said that kneeling is a constitutionally protected expression, and that Trump is only trying to link the protests to the flag in order to justify the profane insults during his rally for Luther Strange:

“Here is what this is about. It’s about focusing attention on racial injustice, focusing attention on racial injustice. It’s about challenging our country to extend the promise of that flag to all citizens, including the citizens whose ancestors were slaves. You may not agree with Colin Kaepernick or the scores of players who take a knee or took a knee this weekend. And that is okay, you don’t have to agree with them. But that’s not really the point here. No American gets to tell another American how to express their love for this country.”

Well, that’s very interesting. First, what, exactly, are these players, and Don Lemon, doing beyond “focusing attention”? Because that’s all that they seem to be doing. As the saying goes, complaining is not a solution. And that’s all they seem to be doing.

Second, remember back when Democrats were attempting to tell Tea Party members how they could express their love for country? That protests against Obama’s legislation and Executive Orders was considered raaaaacist? Where were people like Lemon then? Right, right, they were riding the race card bandwagon, attempting to shut down legitimate protest.

Where are the Leftist voices when Antifa attempts, and often succeeds, especially with violence, to shut down Free Speech?

Where are they when people are told to take down their American flags?

But, really, these pampered, rich athletes aren’t professing a love for this country: they’re telling us how much they hate it. They’re telling us they hate the military and first responders who are present on the field during the National Anthem.

And, he’s wrong that no American gets to tell another how to express free speech: your employer can shut you down, and, if you don’t like that position, you can seek employment elsewhere. It doesn’t matter if you are a conservative organization or a leftist one, there are rules of conduct, meant to protect the organization.

Oh, and were are these same Leftists, like Don Lemon, when Leftist are expressing their “love of country” by holding the US flag upside down and burning it?

Succeed Act, Offering Pathway To Citizenship, Filed In Congress

We learned yesterday that Senators Thom Tillis, James Lankford, and Orrin Hatch were going to introduce their DACA alternative, and they did

(WRAL) Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) on Monday announced a long-awaited proposal that addresses the uncertain legal status of undocumented children, more commonly referred to as “Dreamers.”

At a news conference at the Capitol, posters displayed four core principles to The SUCCEED Act: Compassion, Prevention, Merit, and Fairness.

“This act is about the children,” Tillis announced. “We’ve got to set a high bar and make sure that if people want to come here, they do it legally.”

The SUCCEED Act, which stands for Solution for Undocumented Children through Careers Employment Education and Defending our nation, offers a 15-year path to citizenship for any immigrant who arrived illegally in the United States prior to their 16th birthday.

The bill itself is not yet available to read on any of their websites, not at Congress.gov. There are more details on it available at Thom Tillis’ website, laying out the pathway, including

After five years of CPR status, individuals may renew their status for another five years if they fulfill their commitment to pursue at least one of the three merit-based pathways for a 48-month period and demonstrate good moral character. Individuals could lose their CPR status if they fail to fulfill their merit-based obligations, commit a felony or a serious misdemeanor, or become a “public charge” (defined by the USCIS as one who becomes primarily dependent on the government for subsistence).

So, no government handouts. Want to succeed? Then they must do it on their own. Just like all the people who applied for citizenship the lawful way. Any of these illegals must either work 48 out of 60 months, attend college, or join the military to comply.

Then there’s this

Additionally, the SUCCEED Act prevents the parents of undocumented children from receiving benefits or preferential treatment, and prevents undocumented children from petitioning their parents.

No chain migration. No government benefits for the parents. Supposedly no legal status for the parents, supposedly. The proof is pudding, and we’ll wait to see exactly what the legislation states. Realistically, they should have to self deport as a condition for the kids to get the pathway, because, as Senator Lankford goes on to say “we as Americans do not hold children legally accountable for the actions of their parent”, and if that’s the case, someone has to be punished.

However, it does appear to allow chain migration after the 15 year time period, if they become citizens. But, here’s another question: the parent(s) who brought them broke federal law, so, should that not disqualify them from being lawfully present/allowed to immigrate?

The bill also deters future illegal immigration by requiring future non-immigrant visa recipients to sign a waiver forfeiting any future immigration benefits if they violate the terms of their visa.

One of the supposed things the SUCCEED Act cracks down on is Visa overstays, of which it is reported that as many as 45% of illegals overstayed. Again, the proof is in the pudding to see how the Act deals with visa overstays in detail, because that waiver is not much of a deterrent. And what provisions are included to deter more parents from bringing their kids in an attempt to gain lawful status?

There is also a two-pager with details on the act, along with some reason and FAQs.

Realistically, they should all be deported, period. But, we know that is not going to happen. Depending on the text, this could be a good solution. Democrats, like Dick Durbin, are already having a tizzy, certainly without reading it. What they want is immediate citizenship for the kids and the parents, no conditions, and no measures to help reduce the flow of illegals.

Millennials Are Super Excited To Let Someone Else Deal With Hotcoldwetdry

Millennials are probably the one group that cares the most about ‘climate change’, other than the elitists who stand to gain a lot of money and power by pushing the issue, yet, there’s a bit of a problem (via Watts Up With That?)

(MBG)  When it comes to easing climate change, a lot of the onus is placed on millennials. Considering environmental issues garnered mainstream attention as they were growing up, and their future is less certain than that of generations past, it makes sense that 20- and 30-somethings are tasked with such a big responsibility. But are they up for the challenge?

A new study asked thousands of millennials how they’re taking action on environmental issues, and their answers were a mixed bag. While millennials are reportedly less inclined to take small personal actions like recycle, ditch plastic water bottles, and adjust the thermostat to save energy, they are significantly more likely to support companies that they perceive to have strong environmental values. The Shelton Group, the eco-minded market research firm behind the study, has an interesting theory as to why this is.

In other words, not only are they uninterested in ever taking tiny steps to Walk The Talk of their beliefs, they really want Someone Else to do something. Or, realistically, Someone Else who says the Right Things, regardless of whether their actual actions matches their words.

Millennials are fervent believers that climate change is an issue that needs to be dealt with, and 82 percent of them are concerned about how it will influence their children’s quality of life. But for many, this concern seems to have morphed into a slight helplessness. Nowadays, millennials are doubting their ability to make a dent in such a huge issue and are instead choosing to support companies that have a larger perceived impact.

It’s kinda hard to take action when they’re taking lots of pictures of their food and themselves in mirrors.

Anyway, good luck with this, Cult of Climastrology, when the future generation won’t even recycle.

Warmists Are Back To Proclaiming We’re Doomed From Hurricanes

Almost 12 years without a major hurricane making landfall on the continental U.S., well, that meant nothing. This was actually blamed on ‘climate change’, as Warmists proclaimed that anthropogenic climate change driven wind sheer was knocking down the anthropogenic climate change hurricanes.

Now, though, because we’ve had a few, which we all knew was going to happen sooner or later, because Nature does what Nature does, and there tends to be a cyclical period of hurricane action, we are in a situation of future doom

Hurricane Harvey: A fluke or the future?
In the midst of recent powerful storms, Scott Pelley looks at Hurricane Harvey’s destruction to better understand what the future may hold for coastal cities

Like rounds of artillery, hurricanes are coming in a salvo the likes of which we haven’t seen in more than a decade. Maria, which devastated Puerto Rico this past week, was the first Category Four to make a direct hit on the island in 85 years. Last month, Hurricane Harvey was the most ferocious rainstorm ever recorded in the continental U.S. The number of storms is higher than usual but its their intensity that is extremely rare with two Category Fours and two Category Fives making landfall in a month. The question facing America’s coastal cities is this: Is the ferocity of these storms a fluke or the future?

In all fairness, Pelley plays this pretty square, rather than jamming an Agenda down the throats of those watching 60 Minutes. Also, there are many interviewed who did not buy into the Cult of Climastrology talking points. Then he tracks down nutter Katherine Hayhoe

Was the world capital of fossil fuels brought low by climate change? We asked Katherine Hayhoe, a leading atmospheric scientist at Texas Tech University.

Katherine Hayhoe: It’s too early to tell. The postmortem will take years so to speak because climate science is all about the long term statistics we can say, absolutely without a doubt, that this hurricane took place over altered background conditions. Our planet is very different today than it would have been 50 or 100 years ago.

To early to tell? She should tell all her Warmist brethren, who are Blamestorming. And, yes, the planet is slightly different. It was much different 200 years ago, during the Little Ice Age. And back before that, during the Global Climate Optimum. Etc.

By “altered background” she means that the oceans of 2017 are on track to be the third warmest on record. Warmer water intensifies hurricanes three ways.

Katherine Hayhoe: First of all, in a warmer world more water evaporates into the atmosphere and so when a storm like a hurricane comes along there is so much more water vapor sitting up there for the hurricane to sweep up and dump on us. The second reason is sea level rise.

Interestingly, the hurricanes developed over cooler than normal water. Sea level rise is below what one would expect during a Holocene warm period, as I’ve written ad nauseum.

Scott Pelley: Water expands when it’s heated.

Katherine Hayhoe: And that means when a hurricanes come along the storm surges on average will be stronger because there is more water behind them. And then the third way that we expect climate change to affect hurricanes is through warmer ocean waters. More energy, more power will be available to hurricanes in the future enabling them to intensify faster if conditions are right, as well as become more intense.

Many scientists were proclaiming that the storm surge from Harvey and Irma, and especially Harvey, was lower than expected. Huh.

Anyhow, this is all about making scary prognostications without evidence that it is caused by Mankind. A warmer world is nothing new. Sooner or later the atmosphere will flip to cooling.

GOP Immigration Plan Will Legalize Up To 2.5 Million Illegals

If it doesn’t include the notion that the people who “sinned”, as in the talking point from pro-illegal alien folks “we shouldn’t punish the children for the sins of their parents”, should be deported for intentionally breaking our laws and violating our sovereignty, then it’s a non-starter. We should not reward criminal behavior

GOP bill will offer Dreamers citizenship after ‘extreme vetting’

Sen. Thom Tillis will introduce his “conservative Dream Act” on Monday that would provide a pathway to citizenship for as many as 2.5 million young undocumented immigrants, but one that is long and involves “extreme vetting.”

The North Carolina Republican and cosponsor James Lankford, an Oklahoma Republican, will pitch the plan as “merit-based” relief that must be earned — and, critically, not “amnesty,” according to Republican talking points obtained by McClatchy. But unlike other merit-based immigration proposals that limit new immigrants from entering the country based on their job skills, this proposal would limit who can remain in the country based on their years of American education, work experience or military service.

“Choosing between either mass deportation of Dreamers or blanket amnesty is a false choice,” the lawmakers argue, according to the talking points. “There is a third option: an organized process by which talented and hard-working young Americans can earn legal status.”

Well, obviously, pro-illegal folks will be upset with this, but, then, they’d be upset with any legislation that doesn’t simply offer blanket amnesty for all illegals.

All applicants will have to pass a medical examination and be “extreme vetted.” The vetting will include three separate rounds of security and background checks to ensure they have no criminal history and pose no national security threat. The first check would happen when the immigrant enters the program followed by a second check after five years. The third check comes after 15 years, if and when the immigrant applies to become a citizen.

That time frame will drive the pro-illegals nuts, but, it makes sense that if illegals want citizenship, they have to earn it. And it very much expands the disqualifying crimes from previous bills. But, it doesn’t mean citizenship for all

The proposal would grant high school graduates without a serious criminal record conditional immigration status for a five-year period. During that time, if they earn a higher-education degree, serve in the military or stay employed, they could apply for permanent residency and, eventually, citizenship.

They have to earn it, and it would only apply to those who entered prior to January 1, 2012, and were younger than 16.

This all begs the question: what measures are included to disincentive illegals from coming in the future? I guess we’ll have to see the bill to know.

Did Trump Actually Win With All The Entitled Players Protesting?

Personally, I still think Trump was wrong to interject himself into the debate: it’s below the station of POTUS. Many have theories on why he did this, from Trump being Trump, to attempting to distract from Russia Russia Russia, to wanting people to talk about this for various reasons, and so forth. But, did Trump lose the day? The Daily Caller’s Scott Greer has an interesting take

Trump Wins When The NFL Takes A Knee

In reality, Trump has taken the side of the flag and provoked multi-millionaire athletes into opposing patriotism. When several players for the New England Patriots took a knee during the anthem on Sunday, their own fans booed them. So do fans of the Buffalo Bills and the Washington Redskins when members of those respective teams knelt.

There are hardly two more liberal, anti-Trump areas in America than the Boston and D.C. metropolitan areas. Yet even football fans who live there can’t stand protests against the anthem.

Rather than earning sympathy for free speech, more players joining in the protest is more likely to alienate NFL fans from the game. Polling last year showed that an overwhelming majority of Americans thought that politics should be kept off the field. The number one reason for declining NFL ratings was due to national anthem protests, according to ESPN, of all places.

Hardcore Patriots fans booing their own team is not a good sign that the NFL is going to come out on top in its war with the president.

Trump’s involvement in the debate over national anthem protests shows him once again stepping into his kind of cultural war. No longer tied to religious or moral concerns, Trump’s forays into the culture war typically revolve around questions of national identity and pit middle Americans against various elites.

Think on that last sentence. Regular America vs the Elitists. Surveys show that the viewership of the NFL leans very much Republican, and these are people with high turnout for elections, meaning that they are people who pay attention to politics. That does not bode well when pampered, elitist, multimillionaires protest on the field during the National Anthem, showing how much they hate America, and how much they hate the patriotic citizens who attend the games, watch them on TV, and buy the merchandise.

What will the NFL owners do when they start losing over a billion dollars because those same fans are not going to games, not paying for parking, not buying merchandise, and not watching on TV, which would cause advertising rates to plummet?

If the NFL players really want to Do Something, instead of being disrespectful to their fans they should get out in the communities and put their money and time where their mouths are. Where were all the Ravens players when there were 6 shootings, resulting in 4 deaths and 2 shot, in Baltimore Saturday night? Guess which race was involved in all? Baltimore is 65% Black, why are the Ravens not getting involved in helping those people out?

Of course, perhaps Trump is winning the fight, but, it’s all of us who lose, because we tune the NFL out. We lose the fun of watching a game. It will be interesting to see what happens with the ratings for this past Sunday, and future Sundays if this continues.
