Most Countries Who Love The Paris Climate Agreement Aren’t Actually Implementing It

It was extremely easy for nations to join the “landmark”, “historic” Paris Climate Agreement. Most of the requirements were actually set up to be voluntary. But, it was heralded as mega super awesome and was going to Save The Planet. Much like the Kyoto Protocol, though, it turns out that most signatories are actually doing anything

(Breitbart) Following President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord, a number of other nations have quietly begun ignoring the Paris energy goals, according to a new report out of Canada.

According to Lawrence Solomon of Energy Probe, a Toronto-based environmental organization, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is one of the only signers of the Paris agreement who is actually abiding by the exacting demands of the accord.

Meanwhile, Solomon notes in an essay in Friday’s Financial Post, “most signatories are ignoring, if not altogether abandoning Paris commitments, undoubtedly because voters in large part put no stock in scary global warming scenarios.”

“Trudeau now stands almost alone in sincere support of Paris,” Solomon writes. “The populist backlash — a revulsion at top-down governments laden with jet-setting politicians landing in posh places to preach restraint to the masses — has swept America with Trump’s election, Great Britain with Brexit, much of Europe, and Australia.”

“In the process, global warming enthusiasts are being swept out,” he writes.

Who’s surprised? Doing Something about Hotcoldwetdry sounds great on paper, but, as soon as citizens have to start actually ponying up their own money, as soon as it starts raising their cost of living, as soon as it starts restricting their own lifestyles and liberty, well, that’s where it all hits the fan. The Queensland 2012 elections were the bellwether, where the ruling Labor party, which pushed ‘climate change’ laws, lost so many seats that they were not even an officially recognized party in the legislature. Really, ‘climate change’ hasn’t done well at the ballot box.

And missing targets shouldn’t be any surprise. Almost no Kyoto Protocol signatories met theirs. And, Germany, which is one of the loudest voices on Hotcoldwetdry, is going to miss their 2020 Paris agreement targets. And, as the Breitbart article points out, Australia rejected the Clean Energy Target, which was their plan to comply with the non-binding Paris agreement. Furthermore, the Australian elections last week saw two parties with no interest in pursuing ‘climate change’ scam policies (which weren’t even discussed in the leadup to the election) swept into power.

Cult of Climastrology stuff sounds great on paper. Have fun, Canada.

Bummer: Michigan Apple Growers Are Super Concerned Over Crackdown On Illegals

This WZZM article, which looks to have originated in the Detroit Free Press by Susan Selazky, does everything possible to minimize the notion that the apples are being picked by many, many illegal aliens, attempting to make it seem as if they are lawful

Michigan apple growers could lose millions without migrant workers

….

This month, the Trump administration released its immigration plans, reiterating the plan to build a wall on the border with Mexico, and to slash federal funding to cities that declare themselves “sanctuaries” for immigrants. Trump has said that any solution to the issue of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), the children of undocumented immigrants, must be linked to funding for a border wall along Mexico.

These moves have caused uncertainty and fear among immigration populations.

Earlier this season Steffens said he scrambled to get workers for his 300 acres. “This year we had zero extra people,” he said. “We had a few new people from blueberries, but there are zero people just showing up.”

Perhaps they shouldn’t be relying on illegal aliens to do the work? More than enough temporary work permits are being handed out. If no one is showing up, it’s most likely because they do not have a work permit.

Michigan ranks fifth in the nation for registered migrant and seasonal farm workers, according to the Michigan Apple Committee (MAC). If the U.S. adopts “enforcement-only immigration reform,” it could result in a 61% decline in fruit production because of fewer workers, MAC reports citing data from the Partnership for a New American Economy.

That really sounds like they are relying on illegals, does it not? BTW, there are more than enough Americans on government assistance who do not work and are capable of working. They’d be perfect.

Now, the article started out with the usual Human Drama, featuring Juan Carlos and his partner Adela Hernandez, and how they do a super awesome job picking apples

For more than 18 years Carlos and Hernandez, who live most of the year in Florida, have helped insure successful crops at Steffens Orchard. But this year they are working under a cloud. While both say they have the proper documentation to work, they are still afraid.

Through a translator, Juan Carlos said, “with the new president it’s getting harder to travel.” Carlos said he is worried about “driver’s licenses (renewal) and being stopped by the police and being deported.”

Temporary work visas/migrant work visas do not last 18 years. How does one have “proper documentation” for this? And they’ve been here for 18 years, and still need a translator? What’s the over/under that both are, in fact, unlawfully present?

Steffens agrees that immigration reform is needed, but he is in favor of changes that don’t hurt U.S. businesses, the economy or people that want to work.

“There’s a population that is stuck. They’re not criminals, they are contributing to our economy, they want to follow the law but are unable to,” he said “They can’t see their families, they can’t travel, but yet are working. But they’re stuck in a system. It’s a shame.”

If they can’t travel to visit their families, that’s because it would be difficult for them to return to the U.S. since they were not authorized to be in the U.S. in the first place. If they want to follow the law, well, they had their chance. The article tries this with another person while tip-toeing around the fact that the person has to be unlawfully present.

To fill his need, Brett Anderson of AB Orchards in Sparta is using the H-2A visa program for the second year. This season he’s got about 20 workers.

“It’s more expensive,” said Anderson, “but the security and ability that we will get our crop harvested on time outweighs the cost.”

Anderson estimates it costs an additional 25%-30% to use H-2A workers. He goes through a contractor who does the necessary paperwork, sets up the number of workers, and arranges for their transportation to and from Mexico.

“It’s a legal, efficient and reliable way to get people,” he said.

So, there is an actual program to do this legally. Huh.

Crazy: UK Government Wants UN Treaty To Replace “Pregnant Women” With “Pregnant People” To Support The Gender Confused

Having solved all their problems, like Jihadis stabbing and running people over in the streets of London, and Muslim and Asian immigrants “grooming” kids to be sexual playthings, the UK government has turned its attention elsewhere

(Fox News) The UK government objected to the term “pregnant woman” in a United Nations treaty, claiming the term “excludes” transgender people who give birth and should be replaced with “pregnant people,” reports said Sunday.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) voiced their opposition to the term in a statement regarding the UN’s International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights that asserts a “pregnant woman” must be protected and not subjected to the death penalty, The Sunday Times reported.

In a proposed amendment, the government said the term “pregnant woman” should be substituted with “pregnant people” because otherwise it may “exclude transgender people who have given birth.”

“We requested that the UN human rights committee made it clear that the same right [to life for pregnant women] extends to pregnant transgender people,” the FCO said in a statement.

If they have a uterus, Fallopian tubes, and two XX chromosomes, they’re female. It matters zero if they  “identify” as male. They’re a woman. Period. Someone with XY chromosomes is not female, and cannot have a baby. Oh, and we’re supposed to listen to these nutters on science issues like with climate change.

But, hey, fortunately, the story gets even wackier!

The proposal sparked fury among prominent feminists, who called the suggestion insulting. “This isn’t inclusion. This is making women unmentionable,” feminist Sarah Ditum told the Times.

“Having a female body and knowing what that means for reproduction doesn’t make you ‘exclusionary’. Forcing us to decorously scrub out any reference to our sex on pain of being called bigots is an insult.”

Feminists are usually right out front in their support of the gender confused, right up to the point where women become marginalized in favor of people with mental illness. And, regardless of the wackiness that comes from the 3rd Wave Feminists, they’re rather correct in this case (though, a little over the top, but, then, perhaps that’s what it takes to get idiots in government to take notice): this does marginalize actual, real biological women in a push for political correctness.

Washington Post: Trump Shouldn’t Make A Mess Of Iraq And Syria Like Obama Did

This is a very interesting notion from the Washington Post Editorial Board, in that they are finally letting its readership know that Obama made a real mess of Syria and Iraq. Now that he’s out of office, of course. But, there is certainly an ulterior motive, in that they want to establish a way to Bash Trump on Iraq and Syria, creating a situation where they can forget about the “inherited problem” meme they allowed Obama to get away with for his first four years in office, and even pushing it themselves.

Trump shouldn’t repeat Obama’s mistake in Iraq and Syria

THE FINAL capture of the Islamic State’s de facto capital of Raqqa thisweek by U.S.-backed Syrian forces brings the would-be caliphate to the brink of extinction: It has lost 87 percent of the territory it once controlled in Iraq and Syria and probably will soon be driven from the rest. But the terrorists’ defeat raises complex challenges for the United States in Iraq and Syria, where Iran and Russia are entrenching their forces and consolidating influence at the expense of U.S. allies. If there is a countering American strategy, it isn’t evident.

The next four paragraphs spend time highlighting the continuing intrusion of Russia backed Iran and Russia in Iraq and Syria, while also mentioning that Trump doesn’t like the Iran nuclear deal. Several times. They rather forget that said deal sent over a billion dollars to Iran, and has increased Iran’s treasury through the lifting of sanction, particularly by the European nations. Which they can put into anti-US and anti-Israel activities, along with expanding their actions in Syria and Iraq.

The Post ends thusly

Mr. Trump may believe he can extract the United States from Iraq and Syria without harming strategic interests. If so, he is repeating the mistake of President Barack Obama. A failure by the United States to defend its allies or promote new political arrangements for the two Arab states will lead only to more war, the rise of new terrorist threats and, ultimately, the necessity of more U.S. intervention.

There’s several levels to this. First, it explicitly acknowledges that Obama’s policies were disasters. Syria was already in the Russian/Iranian sphere of influence and support, but O’s “leading from behind”, his dithering, his stupid red lines, and so forth emboldened Iran and Russia. Not too mention his incompetence when it came to Libya and Crime (and let’s not forget that the WPEB forgets to say that Trump shouldn’t make O’s mistakes like with those two nations).

Second, part of Obama’s mistake was not using force when force was required. When we read things like “a failure by the United States to defend its allies”, that sure as hell looks like it is expression a belief that Trump should use force now to avoid more war later.

Will the Post defend Trump if he uses American force in the region? Obviously, that’s a silly question, in that they would then blast Trump for something like “neo-con intervention” or whatever talking point emerges. Realistically, Trump doesn’t have a lot of space to maneuver, due to the poor situation Obama left behind.

“Kids” To Sue European Nations Over ‘Climate Change’, Because The Paris Agreement Is Not Enough

Yes, it’s another case of kids suing over Hotcoldwetdry, and, by kids, we all know that they have been put up to this by adults with an agenda

(CNN) A group of Portuguese children whose district was ravaged by deadly forest fires this summer is to sue 47 European nations, accusing them of failing to take action on climate change.

The seven youngsters, aged eight to 18, are taking on the member states of the Council of Europe, who together produce at least 14% of global greenhouse gas emissions, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency. (snip)

The children will ask the European Court of Human Rights to tell the nations to enforce stronger emission-cutting policies, and to stop mining fossil fuel reserves.

Lead counsel Marc Willers QC, from London’s Garden Court Chambers, says the legal action is a landmark case. If successful, it would set a historic precedent and be binding across Europe.

If only the European nations (the 47 refers to the Council Of Europe members) had done something before

(Common Dreams) The nations named in the lawsuit are responsible for about 15 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. While they are all signers of the Paris climate agreement and as such have committed to cut their emissions in order to prevent the global temperature from rising more than two degrees Celsius, the children argue that they’re not doing enough.

Interesting. We were told that the Paris agreement was historic and stuff, and would Solve Everything. No?

Anyhow, back to this whopper by CNN

Earlier this year, US President Donald Trump announced plans to pull out of the Paris agreement— signed by his predecessor, Barack Obama — in 2020, unless there are significant changes to it.

In response, 21 children brought a lawsuit against the Trump administration, alleging inaction on climate change violated their constitutional rights.

And this is why the media is so distrusted and called biased, especially CNN: the suit was brought while Obama was still in office and against Obama and his administration. The above wasn’t even spin: it’s a bald faced lie.

It’s Come To This: Sheriff Officers Were Under Investigation For Reporting Illegals To ICE

This is an amazing thing

(Portland Mercury) Three Multnomah County deputies who shared the whereabouts of undocumented immigrants with federal agents last year did not intentionally break office policy and won’t be disciplined, the sheriff’s office says.

In an email this afternoon, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office says a months-long investigation into the deputies’ contact with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents “revealed areas where policy direction was not clear, and members were conducting business within the parameters provided by a previous administration. The case files have been closed with a finding of not sustained.”

The MCSO began investigating deputies conduct early this year, after it became clear that Close Street deputies were helping ICE agents locate people wanted for potentially violating immigration law. As revealed in emails obtained by the Portland Tribune, deputies Keith Fisher, Larry Wenzel, and Karl Kolberg all had interactions with ICE agents that raised questions about whether they were violating Oregon laws against using public resources to enforce immigration law, to say nothing of the MCSO’s own “sanctuary” policies.

Think on that: these deputies were under fire for enforcing federal law, which takes precedence over state, local, and county law when it comes to immigration, as the Constitution gives Los Federales this power. They could have potentially been fired for daring to alert federal authorities on the whereabouts of people who are unlawfully present in the United States. Law enforcement is supposed to uphold all laws. These sanctuary jurisdiction policies demand that the people tasked with enforcing law not only ignore criminality, but can get in trouble if they don’t.

Say, Who Controls Athletes Opinions?

NPR’s Karen Gigsby Bates thinks she’s on to something Very Important in the National Discussion On Race

When It Comes To Race And Sports, Who Owns An Athlete’s Opinions?

The NFL’s players are 70 percent black; its fans are 83 percent white and 64 percent male, according to online sports site The Real GM.

And when it comes to the current controversy over the national anthem and players taking a knee, that statistic is playing a huge role.

It leads to the idea, says Amira Rose Davis of Penn State University, “that ‘you are good as entertainment, but once you have a voice, I don’t want to hear you. You need to shut up and play.’ ”

Some players, though, clearly are not be satisfied to just play and be paid.

Obviously, this is all about playing the Race Card.

Despite what critics say was intended by owners to be a chilling cautionary tale, more and more NFL players (most of them black, with a few exceptions) have joined Kaepernick in taking a knee this year, and America is not happy.

Well, a lot of white America is not happy.

And that’s an important distinction.

See? People upset because they just want to watch football are now raaaaacists. Who thinks this kind of discussion, meant to divide rather than bring together, helps?

All this doesn’t surprise Colorado College historian Jamal Ratchford. He’s African-American and studies the nexus of sports, race and protest.

“Self-determination of black athletes has always been a challenge and infringed upon,” Ratchford says.

Let’s skip to the end of this race baiting, shall we?

Ultimately, the question may boil down to this: Who decides when, and how, players — especially black professional athletes, who are all too aware that some of their ancestors actually were owned by others — can exercise their right to self-expression?

Let’s turn that around: who owns the opinions of NPR employee Karen Gigsby Bates when she is working? Who decides when, and how, Karen Gigsby Bates can exercise her right to self-expression? That would be NPR, the company she chose to work for. We all make a choice to abide by the rules of the company we accept employment from. We are not to do things on the job that create a big problem for the company. Big companies tend to have a Code Of Conduct that lays this all out. When we are on Company Time, can we disrespect customers? If we’re doing things that annoy a huge segment of the company’s customer base, causing them to stop being customers, reducing the revenue flow, decreasing the favorability of the company, what would happen? That’s right, termination.

The players could have done things much differently instead of ticking off a large segment of their fan base. They made their protest divisive, instead of bringing people together. They’ve damaged the NFL brand, and certainly reduced the income flow. Owners have let them. And you know what will get solved? Nothing.
