Your Sandwich May Be Bad For ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

Now the Cult of Climastrology has decided to come for your sandwiches. This really is a 1st World Problem, considering they have a good enough lifestyle to be able to waste time doing this, and they’re also conflating the environment with Hotcoldwetdry

Is your sandwich bad for the environment?

Do you take a packed lunch to work or buy a sandwich from the shop? The carbon footprint of your sandwich could be having a major impact on greenhouse gas emissions according to new research.

Researchers at The University of Manchester have carried out the first ever study looking at the carbon footprint of sandwiches, both home-made and pre-packaged. They considered the whole life cycle of sandwiches, including the production of ingredients, sandwiches and their packaging, as well as food waste discarded at home and elsewhere in the supply chain.

Altogether the team looked at 40 different sandwich types, recipes and combinations. They found the highest carbon footprints for the sandwiches with pork meat (bacon, ham or sausages) and those containing cheese or prawns.

Of the recipes considered, the most carbon-intensive variety is a ready-made ‘all-day breakfast’ sandwich which includes egg, bacon and sausage. The researchers estimate that this type of sandwich generates 1441 grams of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2 eq.). This is equivalent to CO2 emissions from driving a car for 12 miles.

These frickin’ people.

Professor Adisa Azapagic, from the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Sciences, said: ‘Given that sandwiches are a staple of the British diet as well as their significant market share in the food sector, it is important to understand the contribution from this sector to the emissions of greenhouse gases.

The study concludes that the carbon footprint of the snacks could be reduced by as much as 50 per cent if a combination of changes were made to the recipes, packaging and waste disposal. The researchers also suggest extending sell-by and use-by dates to reduce waste.

Which means they really want Government to force compliance.

The study also recommends reducing or omitting certain ingredients that have a higher carbon footprint, like lettuce, tomato, cheese and meat. Reducing ingredients, such as cheese and meat, would also reduce the amount of calories eaten, contributing towards healthier lifestyles.

Without any of those, why bother eating a sandwich? I do get a kick out of saying that lettuce and tomatoes are Bad for ‘climate change.’ Interestingly, the same wankers who want us to eat healthier for ‘climate change’ are also the same ones who yammer on about “body positive” mumbo jumbo, ie, overweight people saying “think and proud.”

Really, these nags just need to mind their own business.

DOJ Demands Documents From Jurisdictions To See If They’re In Compliance With Federal Immigration Law

This has created much heartache and apoplexy in those who have been protecting illegal aliens

Justice Department Demands Documents and Threatens to Subpoena 23 Jurisdictions As Part of 8 U.S.C. 1373 Compliance Review

The Department of Justice today sent the attached letters to 23 jurisdictions, demanding the production of documents that could show whether each jurisdiction is unlawfully restricting information sharing by its law enforcement officers with federal immigration authorities.

All 23 of these jurisdictions were previously contacted by the Justice Department, when the Department raised concerns about laws, policies, or practices that may violate 8 U.S.C. 1373, a federal statute that promotes information sharing related to immigration enforcement and with which compliance is a condition of FY2016 and FY2017 Byrne JAG awards.

The letters also state that recipient jurisdictions that fail to respond, fail to respond completely, or fail to respond in a timely manner will be subject to a Department of Justice subpoena.

“I continue to urge all jurisdictions under review to reconsider policies that place the safety of their communities and their residents at risk,” said Attorney General Jeff Sessions. “Protecting criminal aliens from federal immigration authorities defies common sense and undermines the rule of law. We have seen too many examples of the threat to public safety represented by jurisdictions that actively thwart the federal government’s immigration enforcement—enough is enough.”

Any who fail to comply could lose certain federal grants, and, even more fun, the DOJ could demand repayment of the FY2016 grants, and it’s a big and interesting list

  • Chicago, Illinois;
  • Cook County, Illinois;
  • New York City, New York;
  • State of California;
  • Albany, New York;
  • Berkeley, California;
  • Bernalillo County, New Mexico;
  • Burlington, Vermont;
  • City and County of Denver, Colorado;
  • Fremont, California;
  • Jackson, Mississippi;
  • King County, Washington;
  • Lawrence, Massachusetts;
  • City of Los Angeles, California;
  • Louisville Metro, Kentucky;
  • Monterey County, California;
  • Sacramento County, California;
  • City and County of San Francisco, California;
  • Sonoma County, California;
  • Watsonville, California;
  • West Palm Beach, Florida;
  • State of Illinois; and
  • State of Oregon.

These are the typical leading sanctuary jurisdictions, though it’s fun that 3 whole states were sent the letter. This has caused several mayors, like comrade Bill De Blasio of NYC, to decline to attend a White House meeting to discuss infrastructure, having little hissy fits, like

Hanckock, De Blasio, and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel have all decided to put illegal aliens ahead of American citizens. That article above, lefty Think Progress, also features lots more who weren’t invited having hissy fits, putting illegals over Americans.

Bamm!

Richmond, California Joins Climahysteric Lawsuits Against Companies That Allow City To Operate

Richmond will soon be added to the list that Exxon Mobil and others sue back

(Think Progress) Richmond, California has become the ninth city in less than a year to bring major fossil fuel companies to court over climate change. On Monday, the city announced that it was filing a lawsuit against 29 oil, gas, and coal companies — including Chevron, BP, and Exxon — to try and hold them accountable for their role in climate change and its impacts on the community. (snip)

Unlike other cities and counties that have filed lawsuits, however, Richmond argues that it is uniquely vulnerable to the impacts of climate change because of both its location and its particular economic reality. Richmond is surrounded on three sides by water, and is home to some of the poorest communities in the San Francisco Bay Area, with a median household income of $55,102 and poverty rate of 17.5 percent, according to the U.S. Census. Richmond is also a predominantly Hispanic and black community that has struggled with industrial pollution due to the presence of several oil refineries and plants operated by Chevron.

That last has nothing to do with Hotcoldwetdry, but, hey, here’s an idea: Chevron should simply close the refineries and plants and take them elsewhere, leaving Richmond without a pretty big job provider and tax provider. Perhaps all the little Warmists could give up their use of fossil fuels. Especially the city.

The tide gauge for San Francisco, which is across the bay, shows just 1.94mm of sea rise per year, equivalent to 0.64 feet in 100 years. It’s a very long term gauge. Alameda is even lower.

In filing the lawsuit, Richmond’s mayor highlighted the city’s economic situation as part of the reason for seeking damages from fossil fuel companies, though the lawsuit does not ask for a specific amount of compensation. Cities like New York, for instance, have argued that the costs associated with preparing for future sea level rise — things like sea walls, raising major roads, or buttressing municipal buildings like wastewater treatment plants — could cost as much as $20 billion. And while those costs would certainly be lower for Richmond — which has some 108,000 residents — mitigation and adaptation projects still come with a hefty price tag.

Really, all this is is a shakedown suit, hoping that the companies will settle.

It’ll be fun when the counter suits show a failure to mention ‘climate change’ in bond offers.

Illegal Alien “Dreamers” Blocking Disney Entrance Certainly Helps Gain Supporters, Eh?

This really doesn’t help the cause. But, hey, since they’re here illegally, I recommend that the “Dreamers” keep doing things like this to turn public sentiment against them (via Twitchy)

The police eventually came and drove them off, but, as some where tweeting, where’s the story of how American families had their day ruined by these illegal aliens? And

https://twitter.com/DesScorp/status/955993834340667392

Meanwhile, Tucker Carlson got into it with Albany mayor and pro-illegal alien supporter Kathy Sheehan, and Sheehan tried to argue that people who are in the country illegally have all sorts of Constitution rights, and are super hard working

“It’s not about being born here, it’s a matter of citizenship. Citizenship is meaningful to most Americans, they think it, you’re different when you’re a citizen from when you’re not,” said Carlson.

“And they want to be on a path to citizenship. These are young people who are working hard, and have worked hard, and want to be on a path to…” trailed Sheehan.

“No, no these are people who, in the middle of a weekday, were blocking Disneyland, so don’t tell me that they were working hard,” stated Carlson.

Let them keep burning good will. They also protested at Chuck Schumer’s NYC office, making a lot of noise and creating problems.

Because You Ate A Steak From A Moo Cow, ‘Climate Change’ Moved A 620 Ton Rock In Ireland

According to Cult of Climastrology doctrine, the Earth is always supposed to stay the same. The same temperature, same weather patterns, animals never change, it’s always the same. Well, I’m blaming your for this

A storm moved a 620-tonne rock in Ireland, a stunning new climate change omen

Along the rocky coasts of Ireland’s Aran Islands, scientists have found a new demonstration of the immense power of ocean waves – and a possible hint of what we should fear if climate change makes coastal storms more intense.

A 620-tonne boulder – equivalent in mass to about 90 large African elephants – moved several metres on the island of Inishmore in the winter of 2013-2014 after being slammed by powerful coastal storm waves, according to the research led by Ronadh Cox, a geoscientist at Williams College.

It was just one of over 1000 boulders that moved along Ireland’s coasts during the storms, many of them quite large, Cox said. (snip)

“There were boulders that were created from bedrock that were ripped up and disaggregated and the pieces flung into the boulder ridge at 90 metres inland and 50 metres above sea level.”

The discovery could help reset our assumptions about how to interpret a variety of mysterious rocks littered along shorelines around the world, which scientists have traditionally linked to powerful tsunami waves.

So, these types of things have happened before. And they thought it happened due to tsunamis. But, waves in water are rather powerful. Anyone who’s visited the ocean and gotten nailed by a wave knows this. The team of scientists decided to do some field research, and found that rocks and boulders were being moved by, get this, waves. Strong Atlantic waves. So, of course, we have to jump to ‘climate change’

The real question raised by the work, though, is what it says about the future of climate change.

If seas rise and storms worsen with a changing climate – as some predict – then understanding the damage that can be wrought by battering waves will be important, Cox said.

“The more intense the storms, the higher the wave energies, so the likelihood of these stronger wave energies hitting in other places becomes greater, as well,” she said.

No matter what, Warmists have to make it all about their pet cult and fearmonger.

Trump: No Wall Funding? No DACA

Democrats just do not get that Trump is not your typical patsy Republican. When you attack him, he won’t wilt. When you make political threats, he won’t back down. Instead, he comes back harder. Republicans do not need DACA. They don’t have to do it. They don’t have to find some pathway to legalization for illegal aliens.

Chuck Schumer decided that he would rescind an offer on the wall, which was just authorization, not actual funding. The wall was authorized back in 2006, it just needs funding. And the authorization offer was well less than the actual cost of building the wall. So, the offer was a big load of mule fritters to start with. And pulling it was simply a whiny response to losing the shutdown

(Fox News) President Donald Trump fired back Tuesday night at Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for offering, then rescinding, a deal to support border wall funding in return for an immigration package that protects illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children.

“Cryin’ Chuck Schumer fully understands, especially after his humiliating defeat, that if there is no Wall, there is no DACA,” the president tweeted around 11 p.m. EST. “We must have safety and security, together with a strong Military, for our great people!”

It’d be interesting if Trump, Mitch McConnell, and Paul Ryan all said “well, we were interested in doing some sort of DACA, but, Democrats poisoned that well, so, we’re moving on to infrastructure. Perhaps we’ll revisit DACA in 2019.” Trump refuses to play the political game the way Republicans used to. He’s not a squish. And he seems to be putting a backbone in the GOP. If Democrats want DACA, they’re going to have to negotiate in good faith. And realize they aren’t going to get everything they want while giving back a pittance.

Meanwhile

During Tuesday’s press briefing at the White House, press secretary Sarah Sanders said the president opposes an immigration proposal brokered by Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Jeff Flake of Arizona and Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois.

“In a bipartisan meeting here at the White House two weeks ago we outlined a path forward on four issues: serious border security, an end to chain migration, the cancellation of the outdated and unsafe visa lottery and a permanent solution to DACA,” Sanders said. “Unfortunately, the Flake-Graham-Durbin agreement does not meet these bench marks.”

So, squish plans are a no-go.

Warmists Now Advocating For Global Carbon Tax

Funny that they aren’t advocating that Warmists give up their own use of fossil fuels and go carbon neutral, eh?

The climate solution no-one in Davos will be talking about

At the World Economic Forum in Davos this week, the world’s economic elite will make much of the climate crisis and their desire to green global capitalism; yet one of the most powerful economic tools available will barely be mentioned.

In an influential 2017 proposal, the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition, led by Nobel-laureate Joseph Stiglitz and former World Bank chief economist Nicholas Stern, put forward a globally coordinated carbon tax as the best policy to address climate change.

The basic idea of carbon taxation is that the costs of carbon emissions would be added onto the cost of a gallon of gas, or a BTU of heating gas, or a kilowatt hour of electricity. Currently fossil fuels receive huge subsidies, especially as their costs don’t include the health impacts, ecological damage, acid rain, and most ominously, the trillions of euros in damage from rising seas, droughts and storms that are expected.

Most economists agree: raising the price of fossil fuels and lowering the relative cost of renewables would efficiently shift consumption and investment towards low carbon of energy more cost-effectively other policies. If carbon taxes are as appealing as these economists say, then why is this so hard?

The article provides a bunch of reasons why it is so hard, but, misses a few.

First, how many nations are willing to give up their sovereignty for this tax? You can link this to one of the stated reasons, “what will the money be spent on?” Do we want the U.N. running, a hotbed of scumbag dictators, Islamists, and other terrible people?

Second, it’s hard because polls show that even Warmists are unwilling to pay more than a few bucks.

What this really shows is the globalist impact of Warmists, under the banner of their Progressive (nice Fascism) beliefs.

Big Earthquake In Alaska: Can You Guess What Get’s Blamed?

So

(ABC) A 7.9 magnitude earthquake off the southern coast of Alaska early Tuesday triggered fears of a tsunami along the state’s coast and reaching all the way south to the U.S. mainland’s West Coast.

The earthquake happened just after 1 a.m. local time about 175 miles south of Kodiak, Alaska.

Residents of Kodiak were asked by police to move at least 100 feet above ground as a precaution. Kodiak Police Department said slightly before 2 a.m. local time (7 a.m. ET) they had not seen any increase in waves. By 2:30 a.m., Kodiak police said in the area said waters were receding from the town’s harbor.

And, of course, the Cult of Climastrology showed up
