Who wants to tell her and John Sarbanes, a Democrat, represents Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District, who cowrote this? Also, there are a few other things she needs to be told
The Democratic majority’s first order of business: Restore democracy
Earlier this month, Americans went to the polls and sent a powerful message: The election not only was a resounding verdict against Republicans’ assault on Americans’ health care and wages, but it also was a vote to rescue our broken democracy.
In the face of a torrent of special-interest dark money, partisan gerrymandering and devious vote-suppression schemes, voters elected a House Democratic majority determined to bring real change to restore our democracy.
During the campaign, Democrats declared unequivocally that we would clean up corruption to make Washington work for the people. We pledged to reduce the role of money in politics, to restore ethics and integrity to government, and to strengthen voting laws.
Really? Because a) the House switch very often happens during a president’s first term, and b) they didn’t run on this at all
Anyway, here are her ideas
First, let’s end the dominance of money in politics. For far too long, big-money and corporate special interests have undermined the will of the people and subverted policymaking in Washington — enabling soaring health-care costs and prescription drug prices, undermining clean air and clean water for our children, and blocking long-overdue wage increases for hard-working Americans.
So let’s rein in the unaccountable “dark money†unleashed by the Supreme Court’s Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission decision by requiring all political organizations to disclose their donors and by shutting down the shell game of big-money donations to super PACs. We must also empower hard-working Americans in our democracy by building a 21st-century campaign-finance system — combining small-donor incentives and matching support — to increase and multiply the power of small donors. Wealthy special interests shouldn’t be able to buy more influence than the workers, consumers and families who should be our priority in Washington.
Interesting, considering the huge amounts of cash Democrats receive from Hollywood, news media and other lefty industries, plus single donors like George Soros and Tom Steyer. Also interesting, Pelosi is recommending legislation that basically has already been declared unconstitutional.
Next, let’s make sure that when public servants get to Washington, they serve the public. Restoring the public’s trust means closing the revolving door between government and private industries, and imposing strong new ethics laws to stop officials from using their public office for personal gain. To do so, we will expand conflict-of-interest laws, ban members of Congress from serving on for-profit boards, revamp the oversight authority of the Office of Government Ethics and prohibit public servants from receiving bonus payments from their former employers to enter government. We’ll curb the influence of high-powered Washington insiders by closing lobbyist registration loopholes that allow big-money power brokers and foreign actors to operate in the shadows. That way, well-connected special interests won’t be able to steer the policy agenda away from the priorities of the American public.
Not bad ideas, I can mostly agree with this, but, notice two big ones that are missing: restricting members of Congress and their staffs and families from engaging in trading and other economic activity based on insider knowledge of legislation. Also, implementing term limits for the House. How bad is it for “democracy” that some serve as elected officials for decade after decade after decade? Pelosi has been in the House since 1987, having zero connection with working people, never having to go home and live under the laws she votes for.
Finally, let’s make it easier, not harder, to vote. Since the Supreme Court took the teeth out of the Voting Rights Act, Republican political operatives have increasingly turned to blatant schemes to make it more difficult for the Americans left behind to participate in elections — a narrow agenda all too often targeted at communities of color.
We must renew the Voting Rights Act to protect every citizen’s access to the ballot box and restore the vital safeguard of pre-clearance requirements for areas with a history of voter suppression. We will promote national automatic voter registration, bolster our critical election infrastructure against foreign attackers, and put an end to partisan gerrymandering once and for all by establishing federal guidelines to outlaw the practice. No American should face hours-long lines, broken voting machines or rules rigged to keep their vote from being counted in our elections.
So, she wants to re-implement something SCOTUS has already whacked as unconstitutional? Interestingly, the majority of voting precincts that have issues election after election are those run by Democrats.
As for gerrymandering, consider that Pelosi’s congressional district is considered one of the safest Democrat strongholds in the country. And the gerrymandering is one reason for that.

You’ve heard about the protests in France, where citizens are unhappy that the Macron government is implementing the very taxes on fossil fuels that Warmists thought would hit Other People, not themselves. But, there are also protests in London, which I mentioned previously in regards to gluing their hands to doors
Britain’s climate protests: ‘We are rebelling on behalf of life itself’
As consumers all over the world scrambled to buy discounted goods in the Black Friday sales, campaigners from a newly formed civic society group in the United Kingdom took to the streets of London to protest against their government’s failure to act on climate change—and are urging citizens in other countries to do the same.
Extinction Rebellion (ER), a mass civil disobedience group in the style of the Occupy movement, has been protesting since 31 October. The movement came to a head over the weekend, when it blockaded areas all over the capital, including Downing Street, the residence of the prime minister, Oxford Street, Britain’s busiest main shopping district, and Buckingham Palace. Some areas of London were brought to a standstill.
An estimated 1,000 people took part in the protests holding banners that read “System change not climate changeâ€. A number of protesters were arrested, including an elderly lady who glued her hands to the railings of Buckingham Palace.
First, look at all their clothes and smartphones and stuff. They sure appear to be using consumer created stuff by big companies. Second, you might not want to compare them to Occupy Wall Street, as that devolved into sexual assault, rape, violence, stabbings, murder, rampant drug use, pooping on cop cars and people’s door steps, and attempted bombings, not too mention people living in filth. Third, perhaps using a symbol that reminds people of the Anarchy one and screwing up people’s days won’t get them on your side.
ER is demanding that the government be honest about the dangers of climate change, and produces a credible plan to rapidly decarbonise the world’s fifth largest economy. “Our government is complicit in allowing greenhouse gas emissions to rise and ignoring the constraints of a finite planet in favour of an economic system demanding rampant consumerism,†the group states on its website.
Their demands are hilarious. One is a total decarbonization of Britain by 2025. They forget to offer any ideas to do this, nor have any pledged any changes in their own lives, but, they also demand that a “Citizens Assembly” be given the power to make the changes, because the government can’t be trusted. Last I checked, a citizens assembly” is called “Parliament.”
The protesters say that when a government does not protect its citizens from harm, and does not ensure a liveable future for generations to come, it has failed in the most basic of its functions as a government. â€We understand that it is not only our right, it is our duty to rebel on behalf of life itself,†the group says.

The goings on at the border have made the Credentialed Media and Democrats, but I digress, Very Upset
Caravan crisis escalates with tear gas and entry closure at the border
U.S. authorities closed off the busiest port of entry along the U.S. border with Mexico on Sunday and fired tear gas at members of a Central American migrant caravan who had rushed the fencing that separates the countries.
Although the number of people at the border was relatively small, the unrest — with migrants attempting to climb fences and run through car lanes to reach the United States, and scenes of mothers and children choking on tear gas — represented a serious escalation of the crisis.
What had begun Sunday morning as a migrant protest of the slow pace of the U.S. asylum claims process devolved into a chaotic scramble in which hundreds made their way to the border hoping to cross onto U.S. soil. To block that from happening, and as some threw rocks and bottles, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers took the rare step of firing tear gas into Mexico as well as closing all legal vehicle and foot traffic to the San Ysidro border crossing, which U.S. officials say normally has about 100,000 visitors per day.
Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said in a statement that the port of entry was closed “to ensure public safety in response to large numbers of migrants seeking to enter the U.S. illegally.â€
Some of the migrants tried to breach the border fencing and “sought to harm CBP personnel by throwing projectiles at them,†the statement said.
Although the majority of the group approached and gathered at the fence peacefully, Mexico’s Interior Ministry said that hundreds tried to cross the border in a “violent manner.†Mexican authorities said they would deport anyone who tried to cross illegally.
“Peacefully”. The groups was in the hundreds, so, if hundreds tried to cross the border in a violent manner, that blows out that most approached and gathered peacefully.
“Desperation has led some people to really believe that crossing is possible,†said Alex Almendares, 22, a member of the caravan from Colón, Honduras. “The U.S. has given us no response, and the situation at the shelter keeps getting worse.â€
We did not invite you. You decided to trek thousands of miles and Demand that the U.S. let you in and give you food, shelter, education, healthcare, and money, among others. And now y’all are rushing the border and throwing objects at U.S. law enforcement personnel.
“The U.S. isn’t letting us through and I can’t live in those conditions in the shelter,†she said. “I want to go to the U.S. and not stay in Mexico, because there are more opportunities.â€
Mexico has offered asylum. The migrants want to take advantage of the richer country to Get Stuff.

This has driven many liberals right off the edge of sanity, like Alyssa Milano, who is representative of what other libs are saying. Interestingly, none of them nor the media folks who are linking this all to Trump (forgetting that Mexican federal police showed up to stop the rioting on their side of the border, as well) are mentioning this happened under Obama
2013: "A group of about 100 people trying to illegally cross the border Sunday near the San Ysidro port of entry threw rocks & bottles at U.S. Border Patrol agents, who responded by using pepper spray & other means to force the crowd back into Mexico, federal officials said." pic.twitter.com/78SGfElqMQ

If we’re discussing #TrumpDerangementSyndrome, it pretty much applies to people going full on Moonbat to anything Trump related. Usually, we can apply this to Sarah Sanders, since she is his press secretary, and utterly drives liberals nuts. But, this bit of insanity is enough to bring out #SandersDerangementSyndrome on its own
Busy Philipps gives Sarah Sanders a dirty look after seeing her at Disney World
Mickey, Minnie and … Sarah Sanders?
For Busy Tonight host Busy Philipps, 39, a normal vacation to Disney World had an interesting plot twist when she ran into White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.
Describing herself as “truly shook,†Philipps announced on her Instagram Stories that she spotted Sanders after exiting the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster, an enclosed thrill ride located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
“Guys we just went on the rock and roll roller coaster,†said Philipps, wearing bright red lipstick and oversized blue sunglasses. “Scarier than that, when i got off, Sarah Huckabee Sanders was there. And she had a security guard so we didn’t see anything, but i did do this.†Philipps gave a dirty look to the camera, furrowing her brow and scrunching her forehead.
“Honestly I didn’t want to say anything because I didn’t want to get kicked out of the park, and we were not with our kids because they were waiting with someone else. I gave her such a mean look,†said Philipps, with a drop of humor. “She saw it. She saw it.â€
She also mentioned it on Twitter
Just gave Sarah Huckabee Sanders a very dirty look at DisneyWorld. Just doesn’t seem fair that she gets to enjoy it with her family while families are suffering because of the lies she spreads.

How deranged is this? She was “shook”? “Scarier”? Gave a mean look? I’d ask what’s the matter with these people, but, we all know they’re deranged.

It’s a real bummer when Warmists discover that the ‘climate change’ policies they really love actually end up hitting themselves right in the wallet. I mentioned the start of the protest back on November 17, and didn’t expect them to still be going on
Paris burning: Protesters set streets on fire on 8th day of protests against rising fuel taxes
Violence erupted on the streets of the city of lights on Saturday as about 8,000 protesters faced off against thousands of police deployed to contain the demonstrations.
As angry protesters blocked streets and lit various materials on fire, including large sheets of plywood and garbage bins, police hurled tear gas and shot water cannons on the crowds, the majority of which were centered near the Champs-Elysees.
Saturday was the eighth day of protests over rising fuel taxes and French President Emmanuel Macron’s economic policies. Since the protests began on Nov. 17, two people have been killed, according to the Associated Press.
“Shame on those who attacked [the police],â€Â Macron said on Twitter.
“Shame on those who have abused other citizens and journalists. Shame on those who tried to intimidate the [elected]. No place for this violence in the Republic.â€
I do believe Macron has missed that “the elected” are supposed to serve the people, not dictate everything as Rulers. But, then, most of the people who push the climate change scam from the top are rather authoritarian and believe in domineering government.

The protests began as an affront against rising diesel prices, which rose about 30 cents per gallon and are expected to continue rising, but over the past week, they’ve quickly phased into a rebuke on Macron, who many French citizens perceive as elitist and indifferent to their struggles.
Macron insists the higher taxes are necessary to reduce France’s dependence on fossil fuels and to fund renewable energy sources, according to the AP.
See, what happened was that the government had been pushing hard to get rid of regular gasoline fueled vehicles and replace them with diesel engines, as diesel was being touted as Better For Climate Change. Then, the government decided to start taxing the hell out of diesel once a lot of people had switched over. And citizens are, as we can see, not particularly happy. But, hey, they’re the ones who put Macron in office during the 2017 elections. They knew he wanted to implement all sorts of ‘climate change’ policies yet still elected him.
This is also highlights exactly what Cult of Climastrology policies will do: mess with the economy and cause harm to the middle and lower classes. Does anyone think the fuel policies hurt Macron in the least? He’s rich. He doesn’t care. And they all thought this stuff would be free. There are always costs.
Think Progress’ Ryan Koronowski thinks he’s on to something
Romaine lettuce is too dangerous to be in stores, but guns are still available 24 hours per day
On Thanksgiving Day 2018, Americans couldn’t buy romaine lettuce because of a CDC recall linked to an E. Coli outbreak. But even though gun violence is so mundane that a shooting at a mall in Alabama Thursday evening barely made national news, guns were still freely available at stores like Walmart across the country.
The Centers for Disease Control issued a food safety alert on Tuesday afternoon, urging Americans to refrain from eating, and retailers from selling, any romaine lettuce, “until we learn more about the outbreak.â€Â Five people died from an E. coli outbreak in June, and nearly two hundred people got sick.
(blah blah blah)
While firearm ownership within the context of a well-regulated militia is protected by the Constitution’s Second Amendment and there is no constitutional protection for any vegetable, much less lettuce, the Bill of Rights was written when slow-loading muskets made the idea of a mass shooting an improbable nightmare. The technological upgrades in the almost 250 years since then have allowed carnage to unfold in emergency rooms across the country.
I notice that Ryan is not using a quill pen nor an antiquated printing press.
But, you know, it sure looks like Ryan is advocating for removal of all firearms from sale.
