Media Engaging In “Weaponizing Of Speculation”

I’m sure you’re familiar with the story regarding the high school kids who were accused of raaaaacism against Native Americans, which the media ran with hard, despite the full video showing something completely different. Further, you are surely aware of the Buzzfeed hitjob on President Trump, which alleged that he told Michael Cohen to lie, despite having zero evidence. And so many more hit jobs. And we get this

https://twitter.com/BuckSexton/status/1087052240823742465

Jonathan Turley has more to say

BuzzFeed story has more to say about media than the president

First there was collusion. Then there was obstruction. Then there was subornation. As the Russia investigation has migrated to every new allegation, a host of experts have proclaimed conclusive grounds for the imminent prosecution and impeachment of President Trump, soon followed by calls for immediate impeachment proceedings, only to be followed by mitigating or conflicting evidence on each allegation.

The latest allegation called a “slam dunk” followed a BuzzFeed story that special counsel Robert Mueller has proof that Trump told his attorney, Michael Cohen, to lie to Congress. The same news cycle quickly began, even though the story was long on allegations and short on evidence. Then later that night, the Mueller team released a rare public statementthat proved to be the ultimate buzzkill for the breaking news: “BuzzFeed’s description of specific statements to the special counsel’s office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen’s congressional testimony are not accurate.”

What is most striking about this boom and bust pattern is how it is repeated with such regularity and so little scrutiny in the media. The president may well be shown to have committed criminal or impeachable acts including subornation. That, however, will require concrete evidence and the satisfaction of the elements of a specific crime. Mueller may supply such facts or he may not. It is the seeming refusal to accept the latter possibility that has increasingly distorted media coverage.

There’s much more to this piece, but it breaks down to the “weaponization of speculation.” “If true.” If you remember back, the media was running hit jobs against John McCain in 2008 using the “just wondering” method, which is pretty much in the same ballpark. They were “just wondering” if he was eligible to be president since he was born in the Panama Canal zone. The NY Times ran several of these, including after the primaries. So the Washington Post. Outlets also were speculating about whether McCain had an affair with Vicki Iseman. They had zero proof on this. None. Not a bit. But they still ran it.

And this is why the media has lost credibility and is called biased. They either need to go the route of the UK Guardian, openly being a biased big news outlet, or become reporters again.

Warmists Again Trot Out Dogma That Super Cold Weather Is Caused By ‘Climate Change’

Remember when the Cult of Climastrology used to say “weather is not climate”? That was when the weather refused to co-operate with their hysterical, over-wrought, apocalyptic doomsaying

FIRST ‘POLAR VORTEX’ OF 2019 TOUTED AS EVIDENCE OF GLOBAL WARMING. IT’S NOT

Large swaths of the U.S. are experiencing the first “polar vortex” event of 2019, and The New York Times is out with an article suggesting cold snaps are becoming more frequent because of global warming.

The Times rolled out an article Saturday claiming “[i]f it seems as if these polar freezes are happening more often, you’re right.” Temperatures dipped across the snow-covered Midwest and Northeast where millions of Americans can expect below-zero wind chill.

The Times’ “polar vortex” article, published Saturday, rests heavily on two scientists who “suspect that the more frequent polar vortex breakdowns can be tied to climate change.”

“I’ve been making that argument that winter is shortening, but you’re getting these more intensive periods in that shorter winter,” Judah Cohen, a climate scientist with the firm Atmospheric and Environmental Research, told the Times.

“When we lose a lot of ice in that particular area in the summer, it absorbs a lot of extra heat from the sun,” echoed Jennifer Francis, a climate scientist at the Woods Hole Research Center.

Even if this is true, it wouldn’t prove, again, that the current warm period is mostly/solely caused by Mankind, particularly our “carbon pollution” output.

Media outlets usually turn to Cohen and Francis during the winter months when brutal cold and snowfall can make it hard to convince people the earth is warming. Both scientists regularly argue human greenhouse gas emissions are driving more frequent, bone-chilling arctic blasts.

This is not a widely accepted theory. In fact, there’s lots of evidence to suggest it’s not correct, including a 2018 study that found “[c]old waves like this have decreased in intensity and frequency over the last century.”

“Such claims make no sense and are inconsistent with observations and the best science,” University of Washington climatologist Cliff Mass told The Daily Caller News Foundation in 2018 when news outlets reported record cold temperatures were a product of warming.

Yeah, but the CoC is not about science. Remember, after telling us that the Great Pause didn’t exist, they came up with over 70 excuses for why it was happening, before going back and attempting to change the temperature data to erase the pause, because the pause didn’t jibe with their computer models and cultish dogma and talking points.

But, don’t expect them to give up on the above talking point regarding polar vortex’s. Once something is manufactured the Cult won’t abandon it. Especially when it attempts to manufacture a rational for how warming causes super cold weather.

NY Times Uses MLK Jr’s Birthday To Push Hatred Of Israel

We’ve long known that hatred if Israel and love of Palestinians, which often turns into anti-Jew sentiment, has been rampant throughout the Democratic Party. Most are wise to keep it on the down-low, mostly yammering about a “2 state solution”, and 1967 borders and stuff. But, on college campuses, it has been quite visible, with college kids taking the side of the Palestinians, who are the ones who start the violence with bombings and such of civilians.

But, now that Democrats have elected some anti-Israel, Pro-Palestinian, anti-Jew folks to Congress, such as Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, as well as ones in state legislatures, their true colors are starting to appear, especially among the younger ones. We’ve seen the push for a Boycott, Divest, and Sanctions movement among elected Democrats. They NY Times itself noted that all the new Democrats were testing the party’s support for Israel. The Women’s March is full of Israel and Jew hatred from the top, their support for people like Louis Farrakahn, which embolden’s people like Michelle Goldberg to write this

Time to Break the Silence on Palestine

On April 4, 1967, exactly one year before his assassination, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stepped up to the lectern at the Riverside Church in Manhattan. The United States had been in active combat in Vietnam for two years and tens of thousands of people had been killed, including some 10,000 American troops. The political establishment — from left to right — backed the war, and more than 400,000 American service members were in Vietnam, their lives on the line.

Many of King’s strongest allies urged him to remain silent about the war or at least to soft-pedal any criticism. They knew that if he told the whole truth about the unjust and disastrous war he would be falsely labeled a Communist, suffer retaliation and severe backlash, alienate supporters and threaten the fragile progress of the civil rights movement.

King rejected all the well-meaning advice and said, “I come to this magnificent house of worship tonight because my conscience leaves me no other choice.” Quoting a statement by the Clergy and Laymen Concerned About Vietnam, he said, “A time comes when silence is betrayal” and added, “that time has come for us in relation to Vietnam.”

It was a lonely, moral stance. And it cost him. But it set an example of what is required of us if we are to honor our deepest values in times of crisis, even when silence would better serve our personal interests or the communities and causes we hold most dear. It’s what I think about when I go over the excuses and rationalizations that have kept me largely silent on one of the great moral challenges of our time: the crisis in Israel-Palestine.

I have not been alone. Until very recently, the entire Congress has remained mostly silent on the human rights nightmare that has unfolded in the occupied territories. Our elected representatives, who operate in a political environment where Israel’s political lobby holds well-documented power, have consistently minimized and deflected criticism of the State of Israel, even as it has grown more emboldened in its occupation of Palestinian territory and adopted some practices reminiscent of apartheid in South Africa and Jim Crow segregation in the United States.

All we need is a picture in the article of a money-grubbing, hooked nosed Jew to complete Michelle’s picture.

Many civil rights activists and organizations have remained silent as well, not because they lack concern or sympathy for the Palestinian people, but because they fear loss of funding from foundations, and false charges of anti-Semitism. They worry, as I once did, that their important social justice work will be compromised or discredited by smear campaigns.

Just because one is anti-Israel doesn’t make them a Jew hater. But, as we’ve witnessed, the former quickly becomes the latter. When they start sympathizing with the terrorists within the Palestinian territories, along with nations like Iran, all of whom want to wipe Israel off the map, it becomes anti-Semitism.

We must not tolerate Israel’s refusal even to discuss the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes, as prescribed by United Nations resolutions, and we ought to question the U.S. government funds that have supported multiple hostilities and thousands of civilian casualties in Gaza, as well as the $38 billion the U.S. government has pledged in military support to Israel.

This is a call for Palestinians to be given back the nation of Israel, as I’ve read in other more overt Israel/Jew hatred material. The “1 state solution.”

Goldberg spends a lot of time slamming Israel while attempting to make sure her Jew hatred doesn’t show, as well as saying that we don’t know what Martin Luther King, Jr. would actually say, but, she’s sure it would be against Israel.

Even in Congress, change is on the horizon. For the first time, two sitting members, Representatives Ilhan Omar, Democrat of Minnesota, and Rashida Tlaib, Democrat of Michigan, publicly support the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. In 2017, Representative Betty McCollum, Democrat of Minnesota, introduced a resolution to ensure that no U.S. military aid went to support Israel’s juvenile military detention system. Israel regularly prosecutes Palestinian children detainees in the occupied territories in military court.

And this is why the attacks on Israel and Jews will increase among Democrats. It will become more visible among the Leftist media and the newer elected Democrats. Most of the old school elected Democrats are supporters of Israel and Jew. As they fade away, the Dem party will be as hardcore anti-Israel/Jew as Iran.

Cult of Climastrology Hijacks “Time’s Up” From Anti-Sexual Assault Movement

The Time’s Up movement started in response to…well, Hollywood stars who had ignored the rampant sexual assault, sexism, harassment, and inequality within Hollywood finally deciding that Harvey Weinstein was a bad person, then going after seemingly most males in Hollywood. While having some worthy goals, it, of course, did what most leftist things do, alienate people who they need the help of due to Category 5 Moonbattery. Regardless, the Cult of Climastrology is doing what the CoC does, hijacking something

‘Time’s up’ on climate change, say campaigners calling for government action

The call was made as a Children’s Rally for Climate Action was held yesterday to highlight the impact of climate issues on future generations.

Ireland looks set to miss 2020 reduction targets set by the EU.

President of the Union of Students in Ireland, Síona Cahill, says students and universities are doing their bit but leadership needs to come from the government.

“There’s huge work being done by students: UCC’s student union is giving out keep cups to every first year,” she said.

“There’s significant plastic-free campaigns going on, drafted sustainability policies, work being done in Trinity around fossil free.

“But this isn’t an individual’s problem, this is now a government problem and we need to do something because the time is up,” she said.

Well, of course it is a “government problem”. This means that the Warmists themselves do not have to take responsibility to make changes in their own lives. I wonder how surprised they will be when government forces them to make changes in their own lives and costs them lots and lots of money and freedom?

Democrats Blow Their Gaskets Over Trump’s Border Security Compromise

Of course, those gaskets are in super expensive electric cars

Trump’s immigration offer brings sharp reactions from Dems and GOP

President Trump’s immigration compromise package to end the partial government shutdown drew sharp reactions from Democratic and Republican lawmakers alike.

In a televised White House address on Saturday afternoon, Trump offered Democrats a three-year extension of protections for 700,000 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, in exchange for the $5.7 billion he has been seeking for a barrier along the nation’s southern border with Mexico.

“Our immigration system should be a source of pride … not a source of shame as it is all over the world,” Trump said in his plea.

There was plenty more in that offer, which also included an extension of Temporary Protected Status (for people who’ve long been allowed to overstay it. There’s that part about “temporary”) and “allocates $800 million for drug detection technology to secure ports of entry, 2,750 new border agents and law enforcement professionals, and 75 new immigration judges to reduce an immense backlog of asylum requests.”

Democrats would be getting quite a lot in this, but, they really do not want to solve anything. They do not want to compromise. They want to caterwaul and create issues and show their Trump Derangement Syndrome

The president’s proposal was met with disdain from an array of top Democratic lawmakers. Many used the same language in their critiques, accusing Trump of holding the government and federal workers “hostage.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., tweeted, “What we didn’t hear from the President was any sympathy for the federal workers who face so much uncertainty because of the chaos of the #TrumpShutdown.”

Deflection

Before Trump made his announcement, Pelosi had called his anticipated proposal “a non-starter.”

“For one thing, this proposal does not include the permanent solution for the Dreamers and TPS recipients that our country needs and supports.”

Had Trump offered a permanent solution, she and the rest of the Democrats would have found a way to poo-poo that, too. Pelosi did not even know what the offer was when she sent out her statement.

For his part, Chuck Schumer, the Senate minority leader, called Trump’s proposal “one-sided and ineffective.”

“It’s clear the President realizes that by closing the government and hurting so many American workers and their families, he has put himself and the country in an untenable position. Unfortunately, he keeps putting forward one-sided and ineffective remedies. There’s only one way out: open the government, Mr. President, and then Democrats and Republicans can have a civil discussion and come up with bipartisan solutions.”

Providing a million people (300K for TPS) the chance to allow something to happen in the future, as well as giving most of the parents of Dreamers a break while DACA continues is one sided? Chuck is the kind of guy who borrows $100 and gives you back $1.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer shared a similar sentiment, urging Trump and Sen. Mitch McConnell to “stop holding government hostage and end the shutdown” immediately.

“The president must stop holding government hostage and end the shutdown so federal employees can get back to work serving the American people. There is no reason for Americans to be shut out of work and without a paycheck while negotiations take place on the best way to secure our borders,” he said.

Hoyer said negotiation can progress after the government reopens.

But, we all know that Democrats will refuse to negotiate once the shutdown ends, and, it might be coming to the point where Trump says “hang it all, let’s reopen” and then goes on a tear to rip Democrats when they refuse to talk about border security. Democrats should remember that 1. he has no problem ripping people publicly, 2. his tweets are covered extensively by the media, 3. he knows how to get the media to cover his tweets and speeches, and 4. he has a really, really big pulpit. How will it look when he gives a national address about Democrats refusing to negotiate?

There are many more Democrats whining in the article, along with most Republicans approving of this compromise. And, we’ll have to wait for the polls, but this could shift blame from Trump to the Democrats.

NY Times Super Thrilled To Extol Cuba For It’s Single Payer System

Sadly, the headline has changed, probably because it was really, really bad

You can see the original in the top of the tweet. Weird how the Times and/or Nicholas Kristoff would change it, eh?

Claudia Fernández, 29, is an accountant whose stomach bulges with her first child, a girl, who is due in April.

Fernández lives in a cramped apartment on a potholed street and can’t afford a car. She also gets by without a meaningful vote or the right to speak freely about politics. Yet the paradox of Cuba is this: Her baby appears more likely to survive than if she were born in the United States.

Cuba is poor and repressive with a dysfunctional economy, but in health care it does an impressive job that the United States could learn from. According to official statistics (about which, as we’ll see, there is some debate), the infant mortality rate in Cuba is only 4.0 deaths per 1,000 live births. In the United States, it’s 5.9.

In other words, an American infant is, by official statistics, almost 50 percent more likely to die than a Cuban infant. By my calculations, that means that 7,500 American kids die each year because we don’t have as good an infant mortality rate as Cuba reports.

How is this possible? Well, remember that it may not be. The figures should be taken with a dose of skepticism. Still, there’s no doubt that a major strength of the Cuban system is that it assures universal access. Cuba has the Medicare for All that many Americans dream about.

Right, right, all we have to do is give up our freedom to a communist dictatorship and live in squalor.

If Only We Had Communist Health Care

Like everyone I’d like to make sure that infants get the care they need. But if we’re looking for good examples to follow overseas, why turn to this “poor and repressive” country with a “dysfunctional economy” on the basis of its own claims about the success of its health-care system? Even the reported results are not as impressive as Kristof makes them seem, and it’s not clear we should trust any information coming out of the country to begin with.

And why would you look to a nation like Cuba to start with? Of course, Democrats have long held a fascination with Communist countries, and are happy to excuse all the bad things.
