Climbing temperatures may doom many tropical species to extinction if they are unable to migrate to higher elevations or cooler latitudes, report researchers writing in Science.
Is it just me, or does anyone else see the idiocy of a slightly warmer climate affecting species that live in very warm areas? The same people who believe 100% in Darwinism don’t believe that species can evolve.
Manatee Academy students were given a chance to take part in the worldwide effort to help the environment Wednesday when Greenpeace’s Global Warming Story Tour visited the school.
After each class took a picture holding a “Stop Global Warming” banner, students learned about the Rolling Sunlight, Greenpeace’s biodiesel-run, solar-power-equipped truck. Sixth-grader Samantha Hayes, 12, said learning about recycling and different ways to save energy — like drying her hair without a blowdryer — will help her school.
This is one of the issues I have long had a problem with, even years back when I was buying in to the notion that global warming was mostly Mankind’s fault: merging true environmental issues, such as saving the Manatee’s (I give money every year to this), with global warming doctrine. Let each stand on its own, thank you very much.
Also, why not just let the kids have fun? When I was in grade school, that’s what we did. Sure, there might have been some small lessons about science, but, mostly, fun.
Cleaning air in Beijing and in other large cities suffering from pollution problems by limiting car and power-plant emissions may raise global temperatures instead of lowering them, according to a German scientist.
Aerosols, or particles suspended in air, have a cooling effect on the Earth, countering global warming linked to carbon dioxide, said Hans-Joachim Schellnhuber, director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Research. A drop in aerosols in the atmosphere could cause a “rapid” rise in temperatures, he said.
I’ve mentioned this before, and it just amuses me to no end that cleaner air causes increased temperatures. It’s almost like the Sun has something to do with the issue!
