White House Defends Dithering While Libyan Rebels Are Wiped Out

As Rush once sang “If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.” The man-child president has made a choice to dither, excuse me, set a “deliberate pace

White House spokesman Jay Carney said Tuesday that the U.S. is reviewing a variety of options, including a no-fly zone, and that any action like that should be done in coordination with international partners.

The U.S. is looking to the U.N. as a forum for evaluating that option, he said. Carney objected to the notion that Obama was following or sitting on the fence instead of leading.

“You tell me, would you want your president not to consider all the implications and ramifications,” he said.

Yes, we would. Perhaps, instead of playing golf, going to the Gridiron dinner, hosting sporting teams, making campaign speeches at schools, focusing on “Women’s History Month” in his Saturday radio talk, partying while watching a Bobcats-Bulls game, getting ready for a St. Patrick’s Day party, and then a trip to South America, Obama could spend that time making those considerations. But, let’s face it, like with most other important things, he has outsourced the entire thing. In this case, he has decided to let the UN and Europe to decide. Then he can blame them when the rebels are wiped out.

Carney also defended the administration’s deliberate pace, even if that meant the conflict would end before a decision is reached.

“We are aware of the situation in Libya and the events and fighting happening there,” he said, adding that he does not believe Americans want the president “to act in a unilateral way without taking careful consideration of the consequences.”

By all accounts, it appears as if Gadhafi will wipe out the rebels before Obama is done considering the implications and ramifications. The Arab League has given their support for a no-fly zone, an important proclamation, so that the US is not being seen as “adventurous.” Arab states are reported to be ready to be involved militarily in Libya, so this would not be a unilateral issue.

But, I’m sure Obama will have plenty of time to consider all the implications and ramifications as he attends his second DNC fundraiser this week. This one takes place at 5pm in D.C., meaning any presidential duties will end no later than 3pm, giving him time to get ready and head on over.
