Pelosi Loves Da Fairness Doctrine!

John Gizza over at Human Events has the disturbing story

The speaker of the House made it clear to me and more than forty of my colleagues yesterday that a bill by Rep. Mike Pence (R.-Ind.) to outlaw the “Fairness Doctrine” (which a liberal administration could use to silence Rush Limbaugh, other radio talk show hosts and much of the new alternative media) would not see the light of day in Congress during ’08.  In ruling out a vote on Pence’s proposed Broadcaster’s Freedom Act, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-CA.) also signaled her strong support for revival of the “Fairness Doctrine” — which would require radio station owners to provide equal time to radio commentary when it is requested.

At a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor yesterday, I asked Pelosi if Pence failed to get the required signatures on a discharge petition to get his anti-Fairness Doctrine bill out of committee, would she permit the Pence measure to get a floor vote this year.

“No,” the Speaker replied, without hesitation.  She added that “the interest in my caucus is the reverse” and that New York Democratic Rep. “Louise Slaughter has been active behind this [revival of the Fairness Doctrine] for a while now.”

He also points at that she is 100% behind bringing the “Fairness” Doctrine back. Of course she is, as are most liberals. They cannot compete in the radio market, no matter how hard they pay stations to carry their programming. Even most liberals do not want to listen to the drivel emanating from liberal studio’s, which is shown by the ratings of liberal programming on the radio, in particular Air America (believe it or not, it is still in business. Completely subsidized, though.)

As been said so many times, they have the majority of TV Land, including the news. They have most of the print and internet news outlets. Yet, a little talk radio scares them sh*tless, much like Fox News does.

So, if it passes, here are my recommendations

  1. Sue the bejesus out of Congress in the Supreme Court for violation of the 1st Amendment. Regardless of previous case law, the 1st is very specific when it says Congress shall make no law….abridging the freedom of speech.. That is exactly what the Fairness Doctrine would do. Liberals say they love the Constitution, but, as we have only seen, it tends to be only the parts they like. They will say “but, we aren’t stopping them from saying what they want, only that stations must allow rebuttal.” But, see, the free speech has conditions, which that pesky 1st restricts Congress from passing laws about.
  2. Sue Congress for violating the 9th and 10th, basically usurping the power of the States and the People.
  3. Start listening to Air America and some of the (very few) other lib talk shows. See if we can get quick transcripts. Go immediately to those stations and demand rebuttal time. We’ll see how long LibTalk lasts and/or how quick the Libs decide they really do not like the Fairness Doctrine.

It would be nice to tag them for illegally targetting one segment of broadcast media, but, I’m not a lawyer. Bet someone who is could figure a way.

I’ll be more then happy to hit all the radio stations around here and frag Air America. Can you imagine the fun in places like NYC, D.C., San Fran, and LA?
