The Rats Board the Good Ship Bush

So NOW the EU rats want back on board the USS Bush:

BRUSSELS, Belgium (Reuters) — European Union leaders will present a reconstruction aid package to Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi on Friday, as the bloc seeks a fresh start with U.S. President George W. Bush after bitter internal divisions over Iraq.

Well, that didn’t take to long, did it? Sure looks like they stalled until after the election to moi, so that they didn’t have to give any political capital to W. But, of course, Jaques has to be a jerk:

But French President Jacques Chirac, a leading opponent of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, will skip a meeting between the European Union leaders and Allawi in a move criticized by EU diplomats. Chirac’s office denied it was a snub.

Chirac, who together with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder was a heavyweight EU voice against the Iraq war, will make an early exit from the EU summit to fly to the United Arab Emirates shortly before the gathering with Allawi.

Sore loser. I wonder if he realizes that this will certainly make PM Allawi very reluctant to grant any French companies contracts in the rebuilding of Iraq.
