California Lawmaker Wants To Protect Kids From Evil…..Food Trucks

Said lawmaker must have been indoctrinated a few too many times while listening to Michelle Obama

(KTLA) A California state lawmaker believes food trucks are contributing to childhood obesity, and wants to keep them farther than marijuana dispensaries from schools.

Assemblyman William Monning (D-Carmel) chairs the Assembly Health Committee. Monning wants to ban all food trucks and pushcarts from within 1,500 feet of elementary, middle and high schools from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on school days. Pot stores must be located at least 600 feet from schools.

Monning says that, although there are some trucks specializing in healthy gourmet food, those trucks make up a small percentage of the vendors. The other trucks are contributing to an epidemic of childhood obesity on California school campuses by supplying youngsters with greasy burgers, sodas and other high-calorie food, according to Monning.

Liberals Losing Their Collective Minds Over Rush Comments

I really thought Sunday’s post regarding Rush’s apology would be the last (and only) post on the topic, as, really this whole thing is cheap theater designed to deflect from Obama’s horrible record. I’m surprised Team Obama didn’t wait till closer to the actual election to trot the issue out. And, let’s face it, Rush stepped in it with both feet. But, now we’re getting stories such as this diary at the Daily Kos: I’ve spent the past 2 days trying to convince my 16 y/o she is not a “slut”

I can hardly type, can hardly put this into words! I have been writing and rewriting this because if I don’t break down in tears, I get so angry that I can’t think straight! I know that so much has already been written about this whole issue, but I am writing this diary from a very personal point of view; forgive me if I find no humor in any of this, excuse me if I take no part in celebrating the loss of sponsorship for that pig’s radio program. You see, my 16 year old daughter came home from school on Friday in tears and has been in a state of utter despair since. She was told, in no uncertain terms, that she is a slut, a prostitute, a horny piece of trash that is out to sleep with every guy in school! The horrid little monsters who started harassing my daughter had the audacity to tell her their mothers were the ones who labeled her with these despicable opinions- they were just “telling it like it is, you know, like that guy on the radio! The one who isn’t afraid to tell the truth!” Who does this?! How does Rush Limbaugh or anyone else have the right to do this, to say these things about anyone?

Look, if true, I feel for beantown mom, but, let’s face it, children are cruel. It matters little if her snowflake is taking birth control pills for menorrhagia and secondary dysmenorrhea, kids are cruel. And, really, the timing of the post is rather coincidental, eh? Especially since it revolves around “that pig”, Rush Limbaugh.

(Final Update) 4. Someone just noted that this diary is being questioned as “too coincidental”. I have no response to this. I won’t try to dignify this with a response.

Interesting. Let’s jump to update #2

Update #2 I have been asked to update my post with this link to the petition to remove Rush Limbaugh from the Armed Forces Radio Network. Please, if you haven’t done so, go sign this petition! We need to fight back- we need this idiot removed from the airways.

So, censorship. Shutting down and shutting up voices the Left doesn’t like. Said petition was created on March 4th, 2012.

Over at the ever unhinged Balloon Juice, Dennis G calls Rush “anti-American”, and

Every bully goes too far one day. For Joe McCarthy it was the Army-McCarthy Hearings. For Bobby Knight it was choking a player.. Perhaps—if our Nation is lucky—this is the end of the line for Rush Limbaugh. He knows he stepped in it. You can hear the fear in his voice. There is no justification for his bullshit any longer and anybody who defends him is a coward, a fool or both.

Interesting. When it’s a show we do not like, we’re told to “change the channel.”

Hullabaloo

This is the consequence of the hate being peddled by Rush Limbaugh and his ilk. It’s not just “entertainment” or “humor” as he and his defenders like to claim. The bullying these folks do on the airwaves trickles down to bullying in the workplace and in the schoolyard. It has very real, very negative consequences to people’s lives–including to these “mean girls” bullies themselves, who are at significantly higher risk of teen pregnancy and doomed shotgun weddings due to a learned prejudice against basic birth control.

That’s weird, I though bullying was caused by globull warming, er, climate change.

Addicting Info

Rush Limbaugh thinks a flimsy apology on his website is enough to make women forget about his shameful attacks and insults. We must not let him get away with making such statements on the air.

But, hey, it’s cool when Liberals make disparaging remarks about Conservative women, eh?

The Last Tradition makes a good point

In a society that glories girls behaving badly like Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan, all of a sudden “slutty behavior” is an issue for this mother of this 16 year old? Let’s put all the blame on Rush and not the genuine culprits that attend parties without wearing their panties.

Liberals aren’t going to let this tempest in a tea pot go, it’s an easy issue, much easier than defending the failure that is Obama. When will liberals demand that Obama apologize for referring to Tea Party members as “tea baggers,” an obnoxious, disparaging, sexually charged reference? How does Rush Limbaugh Barack H. Obama or anyone else have the right to do this, to say these things about anyone?

Obama To Congressional Dems: You’re On Your Own, Chumps

First he spends lots of time campaigning against Congress, which is obviously meant to be about Republicans, but, catches Democrats up in the negativity, too. And now he refuses to share the wealth

(Politico) President Barack Obama has a bleak message for House and Senate Democrats this year when it comes to campaign cash: You’re on your own.

Democratic congressional leaders, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, have privately sought as much as $30 million combined from Obama for America and the Democratic National Committee — a replay of the financial help they received from Obama in 2008 and 2010.

But that’s not going to happen, top Obama aides Jim Messina and David Plouffe told Reid and Pelosi in back-to-back meetings on Capitol Hill on Thursday, according to sources familiar with the high-level talks. It was a stark admission from a presidential campaign once expected to rake in as much as $1 billion of just how closely it is watching its own bottom line.

Messina and Plouffe told the two Hill leaders that there would be no cash transfers to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee from OFA or the DNC, at least not before Election Day, the sources said.

Coming from a guy who constantly beats the drum about redistributing the wealth, sharing the wealth, and Evil Rich people paying their fair share, that’s kinda hypocritical, eh? His poorer relations in Congress and those running for office as Democrats are being told that all the money is for Obama only. Just like with most Liberal notions, it’s “do as I say, but, I’m not doing it.” The article even goes on to call Obama “tightfisted.”

And, it gets even better!

Hill Democrats won’t be seeing much of Obama at their own fundraisers this year, either. Obama has offered to do one money event each for the DCCC and DSCC. OFA officials suggested Vice President Joe Biden do two fundraisers for each campaign committee. Obama will instead send out an email and fundraising letter solicitations for both committees.

Nor, for that matter, have Obama or Biden committed to do events for individual Democratic lawmakers. That’s true even though 23 Democrat-held Senate seats are up for grabs in a competitive battle for control of that chamber. And no fundraisers have been scheduled yet for House and Senate Democrats with Cabinet officials, usually a staple of an election-year calendar for incumbent presidents looking to boost their party’s prospects.

Obamaneezer Scrooge plans to spend all his time raising money for himself, and spend all that money on himself. Can you really blame him, though? The magic has worn off, he ran out of ideas a long time ago, he barely likes to talk about his “signature” legislation, ObamaCare and the Stimulus, the economy is in the dumps, gas and energy prices are rising, the Chevy Volt is a failure, etc and so, therefore, he’s going to attempt to buy the presidency.

Strange: Ocuppiers More Violent Than White Supremacists

We had a showdown of asshole versus asshole Saturday in Duluth

White power — the kind that falls in flakes from the sky — would have done a fine job rendering the Supreme White Alliance irrelevant Saturday before Occupy Duluth handed them just about all they could ask for.

For no good reason, Occupy Duluth members (or their affiliates, or freelancers; do they have official membership cards?) defied calls to stay away from the supremacists’ rally at the Civic Center, instead confronting them with chants, shoving and snowballs. The latter might sound like good, clean fun — except throwing any projectile at someone out of hostility is still disorderly conduct, for which four counter-protesters were arrested.

The SWA took the incoming without fighting back (there was some pushing back at those who shoved them), the sort of nonviolent training you’d more likely expect from those opposed to racism as the heirs of the Civil Rights Movement. Yet the opposite played out, lending credence to an SWA protester’s sign reading “Whites can be victims too.”

Is anyone particularly shocked by the attempted violence by the Occupiers? It would have been better, as Robin Washington writes, to respond with love in their hearts to the SWA.

Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

The posts do take a long time, so, if you want to send me your links for Rule 5 babeage or links, use ye olde email in the header bar (remove the NOSPAM part). Preferably, create the html link so I can copy and paste how you want it to read.

Our Long National Nightmare Is Over: Rush Apologizes Over Slut Comment

Whew!

(Rush Limbaugh) For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week.  In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.

I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone’s bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.

My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.

His choice of words was poor, but, hey, that’s what can happen when a person is speaking off the cuff, and, come on, let’s face it, I’m sure most people, including Liberals/progressives, though “my goodness, how much sex does she have a day? Does she ever study?” And then Rush doubled down on the comment. But, I’m sure those on the left will graciously accept Rush’s apology….no? They’re still going after him at places like the DU, The Politico, Think Progress, Washington Post, and so many other, saying apology no accepted, it wasn’t a real apology (some suggest Obama instruct Rush on how to apologize, cause Obama is really good at it), that Rush should be forced off the air, that he die, etc and so forth.

Why did Rush apologize? As many have suggested, I’m sure part if it has to do with losing advertisers. He lost a big one in Carbonite. Also, I’m confident that Rush realizes that this issue distracts from the real issue, namely, government intrusion into religious issues, violation of the 1st Amendment, government mandating coverage, as well as other issues, like Obama’s incompetence, rising gas prices, Iran, unemployment, the economy as a whole, etc. Whether or not the contraception mandate was intentionally intended to distract from the real issues, that’s what happened (which is why I have ignored the kerfuffle over Rush’s comments).

I’m also confident that the apology from Rush was sincere. We’ve all said things in the heat of the moment, and, rather than backing down and realizing that we went over the line, we double down, before eventually realizing we were wrong. I triple dog dare anyone to tell me that’s never happened to them.

But, now that Rush has apologized, will we finally hear

  • Harry Reid apologize to Bush43 for calling him a loser and calling our troops jack booted thugs?
  • John Kerry apologize to our troops for calling them morons and that they terrorize kids in the dead of night?
  • Bill Maher apologize to Sarah Palin for calling her a c*nt?
  • Nancy Pelosi apologize to Tea Party members for insinuating that they are Nazis?
  • Liberals apologize to Michelle Malkin, Sister Toldjah, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, and virtually every conservative woman for their hateful, misogynistic, and death wishing treatment of those women?
  • Liberals apologize to Andrew Breitbart’s family for being gleeful over his death?
  • Barack Obama apologize to, well, all American’s for calling them soft and lazy? Saying they don’t think clearly? The Dalia Lama? The Queen of England? England? Poland? For calling Netanyahu a liar? Gordon Brown?

That said, don’t expect liberals to give up on the Rush narrative: it serves to distract from the 99% ineptitude Obama displays as president (yes, he has done a few good things.)

You People Who Drive Fossil Fueled Vehicles Are Partially Responsible For Syria “Unrest”

Despite all the insanity from the Warmist camp, blaming everything on “climate change”, which of course means not natural variations in the climate, which has happened for the last 4.5 billion years, but, because you people refuse to live like it’s 1499, I really didn’t expect this kind of bat shit crazy

(Think Progress) Syria’s current social unrest is, in the most direct sense, a reaction to a brutal and out-of-touch regime and a response to the political wave of change that began in Tunisia early last year. However, that’s not the whole story. The past few years have seen a number of significant social, economic, environmental and climatic changes in Syria that have eroded the social contract between citizen and government in the country, have strengthened the case for the opposition movement, and irreparably damaged the legitimacy of the al-Assad regime. If the international community, and future policy-makers in Syria, are to address and resolve the drivers of unrest in the country, these changes will have to be better explored and exposed.

So much of the rest of the wackadoodle post is about drought and shit that might happen in 20-30 years (see the end graphic added by Joe Romm. Could the climate play a part? Sure. But, the point is not that Earth changes, but, that you’re an evil person for driving a car and reading the TP article, which uses electricity. Think I’m kidding or over-doing it? Here’s an earlier TP post

In short, our weather has been poisoned by the fossil fuel industry, and every day more and more Americans know it, just by going outside.

So, weather started 40 years ago, because, damn you, you drove a car. I don’t see the Warmists giving up everything related to fossil fuels, though. Do you?

USA Today Picks Up The Mantle That Obama’s Not At Fault For Gas Prices

Ah, how times change

Anyhow

What can U.S. do to halt rising gas prices? Not much

Rising gas prices are always a bad thing for an incumbent president, especially one heading into a tough re-election battle.

But President Obama admitted in a speech in Miami recently that there’s not all that much he can do to blunt the impact of prices, which some analysts think could be heading toward $5 per gallon nationwide this summer.

“The amount of oil that we drill at home doesn’t set the price of gas by itself,” Obama said. “The oil market is global. Oil is bought and sold in a world market. And just like last year, the single biggest thing that’s causing the price of oil to spike right now is instability in the Middle East— this time, around Iran. When uncertainty increases, speculative trading on Wall Street increases, and that drives prices up even more.”

See, when Obama’s President, it’s always Someone/thing Else’s Fault. And, let’s be honest, Obama can only have so much of an effect, there are market forces that happen that are out of his control. That wasn’t the case when Bush was POTUS.

There are two tactics readily available to presidents to blunt the impact of rising gas prices: release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and try to limit the ability of oil “speculators” to drive up the price of oil in futures markets.

The problem for Obama is his administration has already done both of those things.

In June, the Obama team released 30 million barrels from the reserve, citing ongoing unrest in Libya as a factor that was then driving up gas prices. At the time, gas was averaging $3.61 for a gallon of regular gasoline nationwide, according to AAA. Today, the price is $3.74.

Just two? How about increasing supply here at home? While prices may be “global,” there are also local pricing, and, if domestic production increased significantly, the prices at home would drop. That’s why prices are low in major producer countries. Build new refineries, which, as a by product, would be much more environmentally responsible than the ones we rely on now that were built 40+ years ago. And more efficient.

What’s more, excessive oil speculation can be a tricky thing to prove. The last time oil speculation was blamed for driving up gas prices, in 2008, a federal inter-agency task force was unable to find evidence that the speculators were to blame at all.

Oops.

One of the measures of a leader is how they respond to Things Going Wrong. Obama’s idea is to talk about algae and lowering energy prices sometime a few decades down the road.
