(NY Post) The 350-bottle champagne tower —designed by Jeffrey Beers —is a monument to Jay-Z’s favorite bubbly, Armand de Brignac, which is known colloquially by rappers, clubgoers and connoisseurs as Ace of Spades because of its gold-spade label.

“It’s floor-to-ceiling gold bottles in the entire space. It’s beautiful —breathtaking,” a rep for the Flatiron District hot spot told The Post. “It’s the first thing you see when you walk in.”

But the White House, which meticulously controls Obama’s image, is not expected to release any photos of the president’s appearance at the lavish club.

Said bottles are $800 a pop. Like everyone can purchase. Aren’t you glad the so-called President blew off the Prime Minister of a strategic ally, Israel, for this? All details, including the guest list, are being kept secret, unlike the tech programs to stop the Iranian nuclear program.

Obama Tells Romney He Can’t Write Off Half The Country

(The Hill) President Obama on Tuesday lectured Mitt Romney for “writing off a big chunk of the country” in his first remarks about the GOP presidential nominee’s controversial statements at a closed-door fundraiser.

“One of the things I learned as president is you represent the entire country,” Obama told “Late Night” talk show host David Letterman in a taping at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York on Tuesday. “If you want to be president, you have to work for everyone.

US Temporarily Closes Embassies, France To Close Embassies Over Islamist Rage

(The Nation) US on Tuesday halted public dealing in all its diplomatic missions in Pakistan as police battled with enraged people protesting against an anti-Islam film on the third consecutive day.

In Lahore, the second largest city of the country, up to 900 people demonstrated near the US consulate, chanting “Obama is a dog” and “Death to the USA”.

I really hated the movie “Terminator: Salvation” and was truly ticked off that I wasted money on it. I didn’t riot.

(Xinhuanet) The United States temporarily closed its consulate office in Medan, the third-largest city in Indonesia, on Wednesday due to protests over anti-Muslims movie produced in the United States, a statement from the U.S. embassy office in Jakarta said.

(Global Edmonton) More than 700 police will be on guard at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok as protests against an anti-Islam film produced in the United States spread to Thailand.

The U.S. Embassy says it plans to close at midday Tuesday ahead of the protests planned to start shortly afterward.

(The Nation) The US Consulate General in Chiang Mai (Thailand) decided to close to the public on Wednesday following a tip-off from local authorities about a demonstration in front of its office.

It also issued a warning message on its website advising Americans to exercise caution and to be aware of their surroundings particularly around large crowds or gatherings.

How sad is it that our embassies have to run away for their safety over what is supposedly rage from a video that no one knew about when it was released months ago? And then there’s France

(Haaretz) The French government said Wednesday that it planned on temporarily shutting down premises including embassies and schools in 20 countries on Friday,after a French magazine ridiculed the Prophet Mohammed by portraying him naked in cartoons.

The move threatened to fuel the anger of Muslims around the world who are already incensed by a film depicting him as a womanizing buffoon.

Said cartoon, which I highlighted yesterday, forced the French government to deploy riot troops to protect the headquarters of the magazine Charlie Hedbo. On the inside pages Mohammed is shown naked.

“We have the impression that it’s officially allowed for Charlie Hebdo to attack the Catholic far-right but we cannot poke fun at fundamental Islamists,” Charlie Hebdo editor Stephane Charbonnier, who drew the front-page cartoon, said.

“It shows the climate – everyone is driven by fear, and that is exactly what this small handful of extremists who do not represent anyone want – to make everyone afraid, to shut us all in a cave,” he told Reuters.

The cover picture is of an ultra-Orthodox Jew pushing Mohammed in a wheelchair. Any reports of Jewish rage? Riots? Calling for the UN to ban all religious defamation? What’s that? None? It’s only the Islamists who are raging? Hmph. How about that? Charbonnier is correct: people are afraid when insulting Islam. Look at how Obama and Clinton acted. Look at how government figures reached out to private citizens asking them not to do something that could enrage Muslims. Look at how the maker of the stupid movie was brought down to the police station for “unrelated” issues, that any smart person could figure related to the movie.

Rusty’s starting a dead pool on how many will be murdered in the sure to be coming Islamists riots. I’m going with 40 +/-4. And 3 McDonald’s and 72 cars torched.

PS: Surprise! Yet another call for trashing the 1st amendment under the guise of no empowering people to riot. You know, people who riot over cartoons.

Science! Arctic Summer Ice Could Disappear In 4 Years

Here we go, another alarmist prognostication

(SMH) One of the world’s leading ice experts has predicted the final collapse of Arctic sea ice in summer months within four years.

In what he calls a “global disaster” now unfolding in northern latitudes as the sea area that freezes and melts each year shrinks to its lowest extent ever recorded, Professor Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University has called for “urgent” consideration of new ideas to reduce global temperatures.

This “urgent” prognostication is repeated all around the media and Warmist sites. But, um, wait, what’s this?

Arctic ice cap will disappear in 20 years, say scientists

That was a prediction from 5 years ago.

Arctic sea ice could disappear within 10 years as global warming increases speed of melting

That was a prediction from August 12th, 2012.

There was the prediction that sea ice would be gone (most of the prognostications are referring to summer sea ice) by 2012. Here’s one for 2015, made in 2011. There was the one made for 2000. 2008. 2010. You have Al Gore making the prediction that the Arctic sea ice would be gone within 5 years, starting with a prediction in 2007, 2008, then 2009. Hey, if you throw out enough predictions, one is sure to come true. I predict that the Giants will beat the Panthers anywhere from 1 to 30 points Thursday night.

Heh! Americans Who Believe In Bigfoot Outnumber Those Who Are Concerned With Hotcoldwetdry

Tom Nelson makes the big catch. Well, not of Bigfoot, but about the number of Americans who believe in it. The Houston Chronicle links to this Live Science article from back in March, 2012, which highlights that (nice graphic under the fold)

  • 7% think is definitely real
  • 22% probably real
  • 38% probably not real
  • 23% people smoke crack, er, not real
  • 10% not sure

Compare that to this Washington Post report from July 2012

Climate change no longer ranks first on the list of what Americans see as the world’s biggest environmental problem, according to a new Washington Post-Stanford University poll.

Just 18 percent of those polled name it as their top environmental concern. That compares with 33 percent who said so in 2007,…

And of those 18%, who we can conclude are Warmist, exactly .0000001% have made significant changes in their lives to make their carbon footprint neutral.

DOJ Worked With Soros Backed Media Matters To Quash Stories

The Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda, er, US Department of Justice, has some explaining to do

(Daily Caller) Internal Department of Justice emails obtained by The Daily Caller show Attorney General Eric Holder’s communications staff has collaborated with the left-wing advocacy group Media Matters for America in an attempt to quell news stories about scandals plaguing Holder and America’s top law enforcement agency.

Dozens of pages of emails between DOJ Office of Public Affairs Director Tracy Schmaler and Media Matters staffers show Schmaler, Holder’s top press defender, working with Media Matters to attack reporters covering DOJ scandals. TheDC obtained the emails through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

Sadly, I’m not shocked in the least that the Obama/Holder Politicized DOJ would engage in practices using the George Soros funded and vehemently left wing Media Matters to attempt to shut down the 1st Amendment rights of reporters.

Emails sent in September and November 2010 show Schmaler working with Media Matters staffer Jeremy Holden on attacking news coverage of the New Black Panther Party voter intimidation scandal.

Holden attacked former DOJ Civil Rights Division attorneys J. Christian Adams and Hans von Spakovsky on Sept. 20, 2010 for what he called an attempt “to reignite the phony New Black Panther Party scandal.”

Before Holden posted his article at 7:52 p.m., Schmaler sent him several emails with information helping him attack both former DOJ officials.

This is the government under Barack Obama: politicized and on the attack, rather than doing their jobs, showing transparency, and acting within the law. The DOJ engaged in a relationship with Media Matters to destroy those who were doing their Constitutionally protected jobs to hold the government accountable.

US Ready To Abandon Lebenon Embassy As Tens Of Thousands Protest

At least the Obama administration isn’t ignoring the warnings this time, as they did in Libya. Unfortunately, this time it looks like they’re preparing to see the embassy in Lebanon over-run, and are taking measures to abandon it, rather than showing strength in the face of the Islamists

(Washington Post) Tens of thousands of people hit the streets of Beirut to protest the controversial video mocking the prophet Muhammad on Monday, a massive rally organized by the Shiite Muslim militant group Hezbollah that was also an attempt to show the party’s strength.

Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, made a rare public appearance around 6 p.m. local time and led the crowds in chants pledging martyrdom to the prophet Muhammad.

“The world should know our anger will not be a passing outburst but that this is the start of a serious movement that will continue all over the Muslim world to defend the Prophet of God,” he told the crowd, who roared their approval as he spoke. Nasrallah also warned the U.S. that if the full anti-Islam movie is released, rather than the short clip that has been posted on YouTube, there will be “dangerous consequences.” The video supposedly promotes a full-length film.

The U.S. Embassy, which is a roughly 30-minute drive away from central Beirut, has begun destroying classified documents as a security precaution, the Associated Press reported. The U.S. Embassy in Beirut was the target of a car bomb in 1983 that killed 63 people; the U.S. Marine barracks was also attacked by a car bomb the same year, an incident with 242 fatalities.

How about bringing in more security personnel instead? By international law, an embassy is an extension of the countries sovereign soil, and any attack on it is an act of war, allowing the country to full defend the embassy. Perhaps Obama will grow a spine and send military personnel to defend the embassy, but, I doubt it.

The demonstration Monday wound through streets in Beirut’s predominantly Shiite southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold. Platforms and speakers had been set up and organizers stoked up the crowd with chants of “Death to America” and “Israel is the enemy of Muslims.”

“If we keep silent about this movie, then this will happen again,” said Zeinab, a 40-year old housewife whose 7-year-old son was carrying a Hezbollah flag. “America is responsible. Whether it’s the people or the government. They are responsible.”

Don’t worry, Zeinab, the government is attempting limit the free speech of American citizens just for you.

Hezbollah has called for demonstrations to continue and take place in other cities across Lebanon in coming days. Sunni leaders, not to be outdone by their Shiite counterparts, also announced more protests on Monday. The controversial Sunni sheikh Ahmad Assir, who is based in the city of Sidon, announced a demonstration for his followers later this week.

What, we’re now having anger competitions? Fortunately, Obama is on the road for more campaign events today. Perhaps JayZ, Beyonce, or David Letterman can give him some ideas on how to handle this issue.

Hooray! Planet Could Be Healed By Previously Unknown Technology

And all in just two steps!

(The Atlantic) Now for the better news. A technology is in the pipeline that has the potential to eliminate CO2 emissions entirely. Solar power, long believed to be unworkably expensive, has actually been falling in cost at a steady exponential rate of 7 percent per year for the last three decades straight.

I’m glad Warmists are around to let is know about these great new technologies, that have been falling from gone plaid speed expensive to ludicrous speed expensive.

Within the decade, solar could be cheaper than coal. Within two decades, cheaper than gas. When that happens, assuming we also have electric cars, it is game over for carbon emissions.

It’s so simple! Let’s cover the entire world with expensive solar panels and the unicorns in charge will bring the price down.

Me, I’d go with these steps 1. Warmists should STFU and live the carbon neutral life. 2….. well, 1 is all we need. We could add in “Warmists should stop breathing.”
