Senate Budget Committee Dems All Vote To Give Tax Credits To Illegals

Things that are Vastly Important To Democrats

(Breitbart) Democrats on the Senate Budget Committee unanimously voted against preventing illegal immigrants from obtaining tax credits Thursday during the mark up of the Fiscal Year 2016 Budget.

During the committee mark up, Sen. Jeff Sessions offered an amendment to require a valid Social Security number in order to claim the Additional Child Tax Credit.

“These benefits represent a direct cash infusion from American taxpayers to low-income illegal immigrants, a dramatic transfer of wealth during a time of low wages and high federal debt. Sessions’ amendment would simply require tax filers to provide a valid Social Security number to claim the Additional Child Tax Credit,” Sessions’ office explained.

Reporting from the Treasury Department Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) reveals that illegal immigrants have collected billions in tax credits, a benefit they are not supposed to be able to access.

Requiring a Social Security number would serve to prevent such filers from being able to claim the benefit.

Every single one of the Democrats voted against the amendment. Fortunately, Republicans voted in favor of restricting those who are in this country illegally from sharing in the bounty of taxpayer earnings. For Democrats, they have no problem spending The People’s Money to curry political favor with illegal aliens, in a hope that if they can find a way to vote, they will vote Democrat.

In related illegal alien new

(IJReview) Over 30,000 illegal immigrants with criminal records were released last year, according to the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This was in addition to the 36,000 that were released in 2013.

According to ICE, a court decision ensures that any immigrant whose home country will not allow them to return cannot be held by the United States indefinitely. After a period of time, the immigrants must be released.

Here’s a good point

Meanwhile

(CNS News) According to weekly detention and departure reports from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, there were 167,527 non-detained convicted criminal aliens in the United States as of Jan. 26 of this year, a congressional hearing revealed Thursday.

House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah.) read the statistic aloud Thursday during a hearing examining ICE’s priorities and procedures for removing criminal aliens currently living in the United States. (snip)

“These are people that are here illegally, get caught, convicted, and you release back out into the public,” he said, adding that some of the crimes committed by those who have been released include homicide, sex crimes, child pornography, drunk driving, robbery and kidnapping.

Makes you feel super confident in your Central Government, eh?

Obama Orders Other People In Federal Government To Reduce Their Carbon Footprints

Remember, Obama is constantly jumping in Air Force One to take cross country trips, along with his massive motorcades, to attend constant fundraisers. He and his family will often take separate planes for trips and vacations. He constantly takes large motorcades weekly to play golf, which is doubly bad for “climate change”. He has the largest carbon footprint in the world at 41000 metric tons. He had to be goaded into putting the (useless) solar panels back on the White House roof.

(AP) President Barack Obama will order the federal government on Thursday to cut its emissions of greenhouse gases by 40 percent, as the U.S. seeks to spur other nations to get serious about climate change.

Obama’s executive order will also direct the government to ramp up use of renewable energy sources to 30 percent of the federal government’s consumption. The White House said U.S. taxpayers could save up to $18 billion in electricity costs by reducing greenhouse gases 40 percent over the next decade, compared to 2008 levels.

Know what could save even more billions? Shutter many useless departments, eliminate redundant and overlapping jobs. Force government to be responsible with the People’s money like successful private sector companies.

Obama’s executive order will direct the federal government to:

  • Cut energy use in federal buildings 2.5 percent every year between 2015 and 2025.
  • Reduce the amount of water used in federal buildings 2 percent every year through 2025.
  • Decrease greenhouse gas emissions from federal vehicles by 30 percent per mile by 2025, compared to the levels in 2014.
  • Ensure federal agencies are getting 25 percent of their energy — both heat and electricity — from clean sources by 2025.
  • Put more hybrid and zero-emission vehicles in the federal fleet of cars and trucks.

Notice that most of this will not effect Obama’s activities and lifestyle, and will mostly take effect after he has left the White House. He’s going to make an announcement as he tours the roof of the DOE Thursday, where some solar panels were installed. Tomorrow, there is a chance of snow in D.C. Go figure.

Bummer: Snow Expected On First Day Of Spring In Northeast

Obviously, this can only be caused by “climate change”

(UK Daily Mail/AP) Warmer weather has melted much of the snow in Boston, but some remnants of the snowiest winter in the city’s history refuse to leave.

One snow farm in Boston was photographed on Wednesday, now turned to a gross shade of grey with dirt and debris. According to Think Progress, the city will have spent some $50million hauling snow to farms like this at the end of the season. (Yes, the AP is actually citing Think Progress)

But it looks like winter isn’t quite over yet for Bostonians – or much of the East Coast. More snow is expected to hit the city on Friday, ironically timed for the first day of spring.

The snow system is expected to start falling over the northern Appalachians and southern Pennsylvania on Thursday night before reaching New York and southern New England on Friday.

New York City will see its first flakes around 9am on Friday and snow will continue to fall throughout the day – covering the city with two inches in total.

The snow is unlikely to settle, however, thanks to warmer ground temperatures.

Nevertheless, the snow will likely hamper travel and create a headache of a commute on Friday,’ John Homenuk of New York Metro Weather warned. ‘Roads will be slick and travel will be hazardous when snow is falling. Be sure to leave extra time and bring your winter jacket.’

It must be “climate change”, right? Let’s go to the Think Progress article cited

Scientists expect more of these extremely snowy winters for Boston and the Northeastern United States in the years to come, as sea surface temperatures get warmer and the atmosphere is able to hold more moisture. Both those predicted characteristics are driven by human-made greenhouse gas emissions, which cause climate change.

And there you have it: cold and snow caused by too much heat.

More snow may seem counter-intuitive to a global warming scenario. But as climatologist Ilissa Ocko explained, more snow can actually happen with a warmer ocean and atmosphere. A warmer ocean creates more water vapor, and a warmer atmosphere is able to hold more moisture. The atmosphere absorbs the water vapor, and when it can no longer hold the moisture, it forms precipitation. When it’s below freezing, the precipitation is generally snow.

So, should that mean that we have less snow and cold during cool periods? Or, does this mean that ice ages are actually very, very hot? The Cult of Climastrology (CoC) has created a non-falsifiable set of beliefs to protect their “science”. Nothing can seemingly ever disprove their beliefs, and, in this way, they can find a way to blame everything on “climate change”.

Think Progress is not alone. There are many, many news outlets blaming the heavy Boston snow on “climate change”, such as the Kansas City Star, Boston Globe (subscription), and the Washington Post. Sadly, there are more than enough fools who’ll believe this claptrap.

Strange: Income Inequality In Big Cities, Which Tend To Lean Democrat, Continues To Grow

It’s an article of faith within Liberal circles that income inequality is a Bad Thing, and that the way to solve it is not by creating an atmosphere for good paying jobs, but by confiscatory policies and demagogueing. Alas, we find out something bad about big cities, which mostly tend to be chock full of way more Democrat voters than Republican voters

(UK Daily Mail) The gap between the rich and poor in big cities in the United States is still widening, according to a new report.

Atlanta is the most unequal city with the wealthy taking home nearly 20 times more than low-income households, data from the Brookings Institution revealed.

The analysis compared 2013 census data for the top five per cent of earners with the bottom 20 per cent to work out the difference in wages.

Liberals can’t blame the messenger for this one. The Brookings Institution is vastly left leaning institution during this century, and has received large amounts of funding from George Soros, who certainly wouldn’t fund a right leaning organization.

Nationwide the rich took home around 9.3 times more money – but in big cities it was up to 11.6 times.

It showed the average wage for top earners in Atlanta was $288,159 – nearly $274,000 more than the bottom fifth’s earnings.

The income gap was also large in San Francisco, Boston and Miami, with San Francisco boasting the highest earnings for the wealthy at $423,171. Rich households in Washington were the only others to top $300,000.

The gap in Washington, D.C., is 14.4. NYC’s gap is 13.7. Chicago and Los Angeles are at 12.5.

In all fairness, the Brookings Institution article does note (the Daily Mail doesn’t) that many cities, including many on the list of those which have seen a big increase in the income gap, have seen a significant rise in incomes for those in the bottom 20%. Jacksonville, Florida saw a jump of 18.1%, and San Francisco saw income rise 15.1%. Brookings concludes

These findings confirm that income inequality remains a salient issue in many big cities today. Moreover, they lend support to the concern that rising incomes at the top of the distribution are not—at least in the short term—lifting earnings near the bottom, even in local markets.

Since the debate over the $15/hour minimum wage started in Seattle in late 2013, many other cities—including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco—are considering or have enacted increases to the minimum wage locally. While the minimum wage is a potentially important means for helping low-earner households living in high-cost places, local policymakers should not ignore the other tools they have at hand—from education to economic development to housing and zoning policies—that are essential for improving social mobility and sustaining income diversity in big cities today.

Some of those measures include amnesty for illegal aliens, who tend to depress wages, and will still depress wages even as legal citizens/residents, due to their status as low wage, uneducated workers. Universal pre-school is somehow supposed to Do Something for income. They never explain how. Raising the minimum wage just tends to reduce the number of workers. Maybe heavily liberal cities should do a bit of navel gazing as to why the cost of living is so darned high in their heavily liberal cities.

President Petulant Possibly Considering Rolling Back Protection Of Israel

There’s an old saying: it’s not personal, it’s politics. Another one is politicians need to have thick skins. There’s another from Groucho Marx that says Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies. That last one doesn’t necessarily apply, but it does highlight one of the ways Obama “governs”.

Anyhow, Obama is the kind of politician who takes everything very personally, well beyond what is healthy for the country. And unhealthy for our allies, as well

(Politico) In the wake of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decisive re-election, the Obama administration is revisiting longtime assumptions about America’s role as a shield for Israel against international pressure.

Angered by Netanyahu’s hard-line platform towards the Palestinians, top Obama officials would not rule out the possibility of a change in American posture at the United Nations, where the U.S. has historically fended off resolutions hostile to Israel.

They can say “top officials” all they want; this policy would not be considered without the guidance of Obama and Valerie Jarrett.

While saying it was “premature” to discuss Washington’s policy response, the official wouldn’t rule out a modified American posture at the United Nations, where the U.S. has long fended off resolutions critical of Israeli settlement activity and demanding its withdrawal from Palestinian territories.

“We are signaling that if the Israeli government’s position is no longer to pursue a Palestinian state, we’re going to have to broaden the spectrum of options we pursue going forward,” the official said.

There will supposedly be no change regarding the U.S. support for Israel financially nor militarily (yet). That said, relations between the White House and Israel have not been particularly cordial during the entire time Obama has been president. And, regarding Obama

https://twitter.com/RickMoore/status/578234042870460416

Pretty much. After 6 years of Obama in the White House, we shouldn’t expect anything else. With the Clinton’s in office the phrase was the politics of personal destruction. With Obama it is all politics are personal, in a manner one would see amongst teenage girls. And Obama seems hellbent on forcing Israel to cede land they won in multiple wars in which Israel was attacked, and to cede land to a group of made up people who continuously attack Israel and its citizens in terrorist attacks. Of course, Leftist doctrine proclaims Israel as the bad guy. For daring to defend itself. As Scott Hinderaker notes

The administration’s critique goes on and on, as you will see if you follow the link. The bottom line is that we now have, in the United States, an administration that is friendly to the Islamic extremists in Iran who consider us to be the “Great Satan,” who hang homosexuals from cranes, who torture and kill those who want democracy, who have ICBMs and eagerly seek nuclear weapons with which to attack us and our allies. All of that is fine with the Obama administration, apparently. But the administration is bitterly hostile to the only actual democracy in the Middle East–the one place in the region where women in burkas can vote.

The Obama administration has been less than cordial with most of the U.S.’s allies, but none less than Israel.

Republicans Look To “Push Climate Change Off Of National Security Agenda”

I say “good for them”. The Cult of Climastrology (CoC) isn’t quite as enthused

(Mashable) House Republicans are seeking to cut funds from the Pentagon and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) budgets that are directed at researching the national security implications of climate change.

In a sweeping budget proposal rolled out on Tuesday, which presents the yin to the Obama administration’s yang when it comes to spending priorities, lawmakers identified national security-related climate change research as a key area to eliminate “wasteful” spending.

“The Department of Defense and the Central Intelligence Agency, two of the most important agencies in our national security apparatus, currently spend part of their budget studying climate change,” a House Budget Committee document states.

Of course, CoC member Andrew Freedman immediately trots out the bogus link between Hotcoldwetdry and the Syrian conflict

The Republican proposal, put forward by Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price of Georgia, comes soon after a study found that global warming likely amplified a drought in Syria that preceded the devastating civil war in that country. The study, published in the journalProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, found that climate change was likely one of the many factors that contributed to the deadly conflict, which has displaced millions and killed at least 200,000.

Here’s what that looks like

Apparently, climate change creates bombs and artillery shells and stuff. But, hey, this is the CoC, which will link anything and everything to their cultish beliefs. From the comments

Quick! Give the government more money and power to save us from the imminent ice-age!!!

Oops. That was a couple of decades ago. Now it’s:

Quick! Give the government more money and power to save us from global warming!!!

Different lie. Same liars.

Bingo. Meanwhile, despite the CoC trotting out all these scary stories of doom from “climate change”, they pretty much refuse to change their own lives to match their rhetoric. Strange, right? Warmist deflections in 3..2…1….

“Climate change demands immense changes to the economic system”

The headline is what we see at the UK Guardian, which has gone all in as The Guardian Of The Cult of Climastrology, and tells us exactly what the CoC is really all about via letters to the Guardian from other Warmists

Mark Lynas says: “Solving climate change does not mean rolling back capitalism, suspending the free market or stopping economic growth” (Save us from the miserabilists in the battle over climate change, 12 March).

This statement would have made much sense 35 years ago. The urgency for rapid action had not been established. But all this has changed. Whether or not the new “crisis” reinforces an ideological position on the left (despite splits over nuclear power and GM crops) leading to “an outright denialist position” on the right is now so much water under the bridge.

Immense changes to the economic system must be made over the next few years, and the blame game gets us nowhere. If Klein’s belief that “corporate capitalism must be dismantled’” is wrong, it is up to the right to show how the new measures required can work under the present system. Governments should play a powerful role in facilitating compromises, where these can be made, and encouraging national debates on the basis of evidence rather than belief.
David Anderson
Bingley, West Yorkshire

There are many, many, many more letters that are essentially saying the same thing. This is what the CoC is about, massive Progressive changes to economies, along with investing much, much, much more power in Government.

All while refusing to change their own lives.

I also love the part at the end stating “If Klein’s belief that “corporate capitalism must be dismantled’” is wrong, it is up to the right to show how the new measures required can work under the present system.” So, Skeptics are supposed to prove that the insane Progressive/CoC policies, which we do not want in the first place, can work in the existing governmental/economic framework?

After Lots Of Dithering, State Confirms No Record Of Hillary Signing Exit Form

The State Department, most particularly spokesweasel Jen Psaki, have dithered for a week or so to answer the question “did Hillary Clinton sign her exit form or not?” Rather than providing a concrete answer, this latest admission either highlights just how incompetent the Department of State is, or is another attempt to row the dithering down the stream

(Politico) The State Department has no record that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton signed a standard form declaring that she surrendered all official records before leaving her post in 2013, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.

Critics of Clinton, including the Republican National Committee, said she might have committed a crime by signing the form despite having tens of thousands of work-related emails in a personal account. She provided copies of those emails to her former agency in December.

Someone should let Politico writer Josh Gerstein that she provided less than half of the emails.

“We have reviewed Secretary Clinton’s official personnel file and administrative files and do not have any record of her signing the” form, State spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters at a regular briefing.

Psaki said there also is no record of the form being completed by Clinton’s two most recent predecessors, Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell.

With that offbeat addition, I’m more inclined to believe that this is a “let’s move this down the road” form of dithering, though we certainly have seen incompetence from State (Benghazi, for one). Psaki is not saying “she signed it, but we can’t find it” nor “she never signed it”, just that they cannot find the record to determine whether she signed it or not. Though, she does think that Clinton did not sign it

Psaki stopped short of declaring flatly that Clinton never completed the form but said that is the conclusion of state officials.

“I think we’re fairly certain she did not. We do not have record of it,” the spokeswoman said.

Here’s a question: who did the exit interview? Who made sure that Hillary surrendered all her government documents and property on the way out the door? Was there someone who did that, like in pretty much all large companies. The State Department has tens of thousands of employees, possibly as many as 69,000. Do they not have people, perhaps in HR, who do exit interviews? Perhaps people in other Executive Branch departments? What other separation forms did she sign? Do we have them on record?

We also get, via Twitchy

Allahpundit writes

So there you go. The mystery is solved. Hillary avoids a perjury charge for failing to turn over her work e-mails in a timely way because she never formally agreed to make herself accountable in the first place. What a perfectly Clintonian ending to “National Treasure 3: The Search for Hillary’s OF-109.” In fact, I’ll cop here to grudgingly respecting her political acumen in knowing from the start that she could take a steamy dump on every good-government norm of basic recordkeeping without the public batting an eye. That’s the ultimate privilege of being a Clinton: Corruption is assumed, so every discrete act of further corruption carries only the most marginal sting.
