LA Times Joins In On Victim Blaming/Shaming Pam Geller

As I’ve written and stated in person, people can bear responsibility for their actions. If, say, you’re a reporter or photographer and you get assaulted while covering a riot in a heavily Democratic city, you bear some responsibility since you knew it would be dangerous and still went. But, you do not bear the blame for the assault. That belongs to the person(s) doing the assaulting. You should not be blamed or shamed. The media has decided that that doesn’t apply when it comes to Conservatives who have insulted Islam, and are taking a stand against the hardcore Islamic extremists

(Breitbart) On May 5 the LA Times ran a column claiming cartoons of Muhammad were “verbal attacks” on Islam that resulted in the actions of the two alleged gunman, Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi. Rather than see the attack as another of example of Islam’s war against the West, the Times suggested the lessons to be drawn from it are in learning the difference between free speech and “hate speech.”

They quoted Garland Police spokesman Joe Harn saying of the gunmen, “Obviously, they were there to shoot people,” yet the difference between attending an event to draw cartoons and attending an event to kill never seemed to take root.

Instead, the Times described Pamela Geller and the cartoon contest in a way that made it look like Geller brought this on herself:

The cartoon contest was organized by Geller as a rallying point for cartoonists and conservatives united in their belief that verbal attacks on radical Islam are a form of free speech.

Geller has posted bus ads and billboards condemning Islam. In 2010, the same year the FBI was investigating Simpson’s vows to fight “kafirs,” or nonbelievers, Geller cofounded American Freedom Defense Initiative, also known as Stop Islamization of America. The organization, considered a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, hosted the Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon contest, offering $10,000 for the best cartoon of the prophet.

At the same time, the Times pointed to the existence of a Twitter account called “Shariah Is Light” which seemed to predict the Garland attack 15 minutes before it occurred. TheTimes reported that “the Middle East Media Research Institute… believed the Twitter account belonged to Simpson” and that the account “was frequently shut down for spreading jihadist content.”

It’s mentioned briefly in the first paragraph, but the actual headline of the article is “Texas attack refocuses attention on fine line between free speech and hate speech“. Regardless, either one is Constitutionally protected, especially since “hate speech” is simply speech that Liberals/Progressives/Democrats and their pals the extremist Muslims do not like and want criminalized. Much of the article, especially the latter half, is dedicated to attempting to paint a picture of Geller as an “Islamophobe”, extremist, and hater. Something they rarely do with the Islamic extremists. They also attempt to denigrate her personally as unqualified to talk about Islamic extremism. As if anyone needs a degree to understand that the Islamists are savages.

What we have here is victim blaming and shaming, going well beyond the notion of responsibility.

UK Guardian Explodes Hotcoldwetdry Myths

And create a few of their own

Climate change: the big myths that need to be exploded

THE EARTH IS WARMER NOW THAN IT HAS EVER BEEN
In the distant past, temperatures were far warmer than even the most extreme warming scenarios predicted by the end of the century. Fifty million years ago, during the Eocene, it was on average 10C hotter than today. Forests stretched from pole to pole, the Arctic was inhabited by alligators and squirrel-like primates, and palm trees grew in what is now Alaska.

However, after exploding that myth

Unlike the current warming trend, though, most natural warm periods in the past developed over thousands, if not millions, of years. “It’s not how much the temperature has gone up – that’s only around 1C over the past 100 years,” says professor Adam Scaife of the Met Office. “What’s unprecedented is the rate of change.”

There is no hard evidence to prove that. In fact, it seems that most of the flips in climate during the Holocene have come on rather fast. It did not take thousands of years for the Little Ice Age to develop, nor thousands for the Medieval Warm Period to develop. Nor the other warm periods, such as the Roman Warm Period. Both of which were warmer than today.

EXTREME WEATHER IS CAUSED BY CLIMATE CHANGE
The floods that gripped Britain in the winter of 2013-14 led to a stronger public belief in human-induced climate change. The storms marked the wettest December to January period since 1876. But some years will always be hotter, wetter or stormier than others.

I really didn’t expect the Guardian to explode that myth.

THERE IS NO SCIENTIFIC CONSENSUS ON WARMING
Scientists disagree about how much warming there has been in the past century, how much there will be in the future and what the environmental impacts might be. The fundamental idea that the world is getting hotter due to human activity is not seriously disputed, however.

Who’s pushing that one? Of course, consensus is not science, it’s politics

A survey of the peer-reviewed literature shows that more than 97% of published work supports the idea that warming trends are linked to human activity. After investigating, scientists also found no evidence that papers with a sceptical slant were being systematically rejected by journals.

Ah. Of course, the myth of that 97% has been proven time and time again.

They fail to mention that human caused climate change is mostly a myth, too.

Having Nothing Better To Do, Rutgers Snowflakes Call For Diversity With Mascot

Special Snowflake Syndrome meets Social Justice Warriors meets someone needs a part time job

(NJ.com) A bill passed by the the Rutgers University Student Assembly calls for more gender and ethnic diversity in the mascot costume, according to a report by The Daily Targum, the school’s student newspaper.

Emmet Brennan, student assembly parliamentarian, came up with the idea after noticing the mascot is light-skinned with blue eyes, which he said isn’t representative of the school’s diversity.

“What we were thinking — the way the bill’s laid out — it’s not defined that we need an Asian knight, a black knight, a Latino knight,” Brennan told The Daily Targum. “That we would really leave it up to the different student organizations … and basically the student body as a whole to determine how many knights they’d like and what these knights would represent.”

So “Something Must be Done” because we are Offended, but, these Special Snowflakes have now passed the buck on actually doing something.

BTW, if you think everyone in NJ is a raging Progressive, read the comments at the story. (I use DevilUKnow as a screen name )

Victim Shaming: Media, Particularly CNN, Decides To Blame Pam Geller

Does this mean we can now blame rape/sexual assault victims? Of course not. Geller is a conservative, and is being mean to hardcore Islamic extremists, and in Liberal World, Liberals have decided that attacking the extremists is the same as attacking all Muslims, and “Islamophobia”. Let’s not forget that ISIS/ISIL is taking responsibility for the Garland attack

(Breitbart) Sunday in Garland, Texas, there was the equivalent of “The Book of Mormon” mixed with “Piss Christ” in the form of a Muhammad cartoon contest. Just as Mormons and Christians would prefer not to be mocked, the same is of course true for Muslims. The only difference is that when you mock/insult Mormons and Christians, you do not need a SWAT team to protect the event.

For all kinds of obvious reasons, local authorities wisely decided that Geller’s cartoon contest did need a SWAT team for security (something the event paid for out of its own pocket), and they were right. Two gunmen with assault rifles were thankfully killed by police before they could Charlie Hebdo the event. One terrorist has been identified as a Muslim. They might even have been carrying bombs.

Geller and her group, along with all those who attended, were standing up for freedom of speech, and against Islamic extremists. Was it provocative? Yes. Was it mean? Perhaps. Was it free speech? You bet. My little blog, along with many others, were banned from India, due to the “Flush the Koran” project. But, no one ever attempted to attack us for being provocative.

In fact, CNN’s attacks on Geller all day Monday can be summed up in just a few words: “The Bitch was begging for it.”

The victim-blamers at CNN are furious at Geller. First off, she’s an outspoken conservative. Secondly, this terror attack against her stepped all over CNN’s desire to re-ignite the riots in Baltimore. Now CNN has to change the topic to stories anathema to CNN’s Leftist/anarchists: Muslim as terrorists; heroic cops (in Texas, no less), and a conservative survivor/victim.

CNN’s fury against Geller started first thing morning at the hands of “New Day” co-anchor Alisyn Camerota. Forget all the good memories you have of Camerota at Fox News. She went the full-CNN against Geller, attacking the activist as a bigot who is unnecessarily provocative. Camerota’s victim-blaming was disgraceful, and Geller ran circles around her.

Many more CNN folks attacked Geller, and brought on lots of guests to personally attack Geller.

https://twitter.com/WilliamTeach/status/595307981685858304

CNN’s Ann Colwell is running an article entitled “Who Is Pam Geller”, which devolves into an attack piece. Remember how all the media told us about the times Freddie Gray was arrested for drug dealing, assault, burglary, and other violations?

It’s interesting that CNN, like so much of the Leftist media, has no problem attack a conservative woman, but will do all they can to protect a portion of Islam that is sexists, ant-gay, and pushing religious government. Not too mention murderous.

Age Of Obama: Race Relations As Bad As Two Decades Ago

You don’t say. Noah Rothman had this from just last December

“Both blacks and whites carry enormous expectations for Mr. Obama,” The Wall Street Journal reported in the wake of the president’s election. “A post-election Gallup poll found that 70% of voters think race relations will improve with his election, compared with 56% who thought so five months ago.”

“Many blacks believe Mr. Obama will not only change the way whites see blacks but also the way blacks see themselves — that blacks will shed the stigma of inferiority that has haunted them since slavery, that Mr. Obama will give inner-city black kids new hope and blacks everywhere more opportunity,” the report continued.

That’s from a piece on Americans thinking Obama had failed to live up to his promise to improve race relations (given especially from a speech in the fallout from his 20 years of sitting in Jeremiah Wright’s pews). And now, from a CBS/NY Times poll

Views on race relations hit two-decade low, poll shows

Sixty-one percent of Americans now say race relations in the United States are bad, the highest percentage since 1992, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll, which finds that majorities of both whites and blacks now view race relations negatively.

Meanwhile, 79 percent of African Americans think police are more likely to use deadly force against a black person than a white person, but 53 percent of whites say race does not play a role in such instances.

Here’s the full poll

CBS News Poll: Race Relations

Back in 1992, in the wake of Rodney King and the riots, the poll showed that 68% thought race relations were bad. Jump forward to today, and 61% think they are bad. That’s also a jump from just 22% thinking race relations were bad in April, 2009 (it’s interesting that this poll was never taken while Bush was president. Or at least published). 65% of Blacks think relations are bad, and 62% of Whites now feel the same.

Only 17% think relations are getting better. 37% say staying the same while 44% say getting worse. Why? The poll seems to be aiming at what happened to drug dealer and career criminal Freddie Gray (it certainly seems like the Baltimore PD, led by Democrats/Liberals, did wrong, to say the least).

The Black Heart Of The Green Movement

Initially, the anthropogenic global warming movement held people of all political stripes who expressed a concern as to whether Mankind was responsible for the warming. This is how you get the Warmist talking point about Margaret Thatcher being a believer. But, then we started seeing that the people who were pushing AGW the hardest were on the far left, especially Progressives (nice fascists). The movement was rife with them, and what they wanted was the government, especially the central government and the United Nations, to be empowered with more and more power and control. And they have a very black heart

Fury at Bjorn Lomborg shows the black heart of green thinking

Environmentalism has always had a McCarthyite streak. It has an irrepressible instinct to hunt down, and shut down, not reds but anti-greens, anyone who dares to question eco-orthodoxy.

This is a movement that dreams of jailing those who question the science of climate change. Mark Lynas, a chief British theoretician of the nonsense idea that humanity has only a few decades left on this battered mortal coil, has fantasised about “future international criminal tribunals” at which deniers will have to “answer for their crimes”.

The British Greens have called for a purge of officialdom to get rid of anyone who doesn’t accept “the scientific consensus on climate change”. In short, all aspiring hacks and politicos should be asked: “Are you now or have you ever been a climate-change denier?”

And of course, that dreaded D-word, which is branded on everyone who refuses to bow and scrape before the altar of eco-correctness, echoes the Inquisition, when mankind was likewise divided into two camps: believers, to be left alone, and deniers, who would be hounded.

Make sure to read the rest.

We’re Saved: Logan Airport To Enact Major Protections From CO2

Hilarious: a place that heavily relies on fossil fuels…FFs for the planes, FFs for the buses, cars, limos, taxis to get to and around the airport, FFs for the vehicles that move planes and luggage and stuff, among others…is super worried about CO2

(Boston Globe)  In a major effort to address climate change, officials at Logan International Airport plan to make significant cuts to carbon emissions, curb energy consumption, and spend millions of dollars to protect runways and terminals from rising seas.

Airport officials said their plan makes Logan among the nation’s first major airports to take substantial action to confront its contribution and vulnerability to climate change.

You’re more than welcome to read the article, which essentially says “we’re going to spend oodles of money, mostly from taxpayers, since the airport is owned by the Government of Massachusetts, and cause the price of everything at the airport, including flights, to skyrocket, all for a mostly fictional idea based on looking into crystal balls.” All while continuing to have fossil fueled travel as their focus.

Palestine Faces Grave Threat From “Climate Change”

Not terrorism, the continued growth of Islamism, poverty, reprehensible Palestinian politicians, graft, theft, hate for Jews within the Palestinian community. Nope. Climate change

Palestine Faces Grave Climate Threat, But Lacks Voice At UN Talks

Few conflicts generate as much heat and rage as the ongoing tussle between Israel and Palestine.

Peace appears as far away as ever, after the recent collapse of US-led talks, and the 2014 Gaza war.

The two nations face an added, unseen and growing threat – that could heighten tensions yet further.

Rising global temperatures are likely to make drought in the region more common, a UN panel of scientists reported in 2014.

Except for that pesky 18+ year Pause.

That at least is what Katbeh-Bad is hoping for. But he faces an additional problem – because it’s not recognized internationally as a state, Palestine is not a party to talks at the UN’s climate convention.

It’s just an observer, and this means it cannot yet participate fully in the talks. Instead envoys watch on from the sidelines and channel concerns through colleagues in the Arab Group and G77.

It’s a situation he describes as “unfair”, but one that could change this year.

In July 2014 the UN informed Katbeh-Bad that Palestine had the right to become a full member of the UN’s climate body should it apply.

Notice how statehood for terrorists is linked with “climate change”. Progressives have hated Israel (and Jews) for a long time now, and have pushed for statehood for Palestinians equally as long. Now both are apparently going to use Hotcoldwetdry to move the process forward. They are already a part of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), and joining the climate wackiness would further help in pushing statehood.

It would also mean that the US would stop funding the UN climate body, due to laws passed in the 1990’s. The US has already suspended funding to UNESCO in 2011 over Palestinians being a part of that body. So, I’m torn. On one hand, investing more involvement to Palestinians gives this terrorist terrorist one step up the ladder towards UN recognized statehood. On the other hand, it would mean that the UN would lose vast amounts of funding towards their climate change power push.
