Man In Gorilla Mask Handing Out Bananas Arrested At BLM Rally

What was he arrested for? Was he violent? Threatening? No. Wait on it

(Washington Post) An East Tennessee State University student was arrested Wednesday after going to a Black Lives Matter protest on campus wearing a gorilla mask and handing out bananas.

Tristan Rettke, an 18-year-old freshman, wore overalls and a gorilla mask and, wandering barefoot while holding a burlap sack with a Confederate flag and a marijuana leaf on it, offered bananas to students who were protesting, according to a report by ETSU police. He was arrested and charged with civil rights intimidation.

Essentially, he was charged with Wrongthink. Per state code. Because Tennessee does, in fact, have a statute over civil rights intimidation.

39-17-309. Civil rights intimidation.

(a)  The general assembly finds and declares that it is the right of every person regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion or national origin, to be secure and protected from fear, intimidation, harassment and bodily injury caused by the activities of groups and individuals. It is not the intent of this section to interfere with the exercise of rights protected by the constitution of the United States. The general assembly recognizes the constitutional right of every citizen to harbor and express beliefs on any subject whatsoever and to associate with others who share similar beliefs. The general assembly further finds that the advocacy of unlawful acts by groups or individuals against other persons or groups for the purpose of inciting and provoking damage to property and bodily injury or death to persons is not constitutionally protected, poses a threat to public order and safety, and should be subject to criminal sanctions.

Rettke did not threaten nor injure anyone. No, feelings do not count for injury. Well, in today’s society, perhaps they do. They are probably looking at “coerces another person with the intent to unlawfully intimidate another from the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured by the constitution or laws of the state of Tennessee;”. And it is a violation to wear a mask while “coercing.’ So, Wrongthink because some had their feelings hurt.

How, in any way, is this Constitutional? This all occurred in a “free speech area” of the campus. That’s right, there is actually a free speech area at a government funded school of higher education.

Let’s note that Rettke was being a jerk. It’s a big old “come on, man, seriously?” moment. I do not condone this action in the least. What, exactly, was the point in doing this other than to be a jerk? But, being a jerk in this manner is no excuse for arrest. He did not threaten anyone, nor hit anyone. He was exercising his 1st Amendment Right to protest peaceably and engage in free speech.

He’s still a jerk, though.

High Flying Sec Of State Warns Of Future Doom Unless We Move Away From Fossil Fuels

No, not that Sec of State. The other one, who served in Vietnam

(Washington Examiner) Secretary of State John Kerry is warning in a new interview that climate change will wipe out millions of people unless everyone moves away from fossil fuels and toward clean energy.

“We have to move to alternative, renewable energy,” he said in an interview with ATTN. “If we don’t, it’s gonna kill us.”

Well, it’s a good thing Kerry has given up his fossil fuels ways. Otherwise, his flights alone would add up to the CO2 output of more than 2,700 American homes. That doesn’t even count the use of fossil fueled vehicles for business and personal use.

Speaking of the other Sec State

She flew in to Greenville, NC, then hopped back on the plane for the trip to Ashville, NC. I will, say, in all fairness, it would take about 5-6 hours, depending on traffic, to drive.

Hey, “Scientists” Discover New Key Source Of Greenhouse Gases Or Something

This has caused the Washington Post’s main climahysteric, Chris Mooney, to hyperventilate

But if a new study is correct, there’s a big problem: There might be more greenhouse gases going into the atmosphere than we thought. That would mean an even larger need to cut.

The new paper, slated to be published next week in BioScience, confirms a  significant volume of greenhouse gas emissions coming from a little-considered place: Man-made reservoirs, held behind some 1 million dams around the world and created for the purposes of electricity generation, irrigation, and other human needs. In the study, 10 authors from U.S., Canadian, Chinese, Brazilian, and Dutch universities and institutions have synthesized a considerable body of prior research on the subject to conclude that these reservoirs may be emitting just shy of a gigaton, or billion tons, of annual carbon dioxide equivalents. That would mean they contributed 1.3 percent of the global total.

Moreover, the emissions are largely in the form of methane, a greenhouse gas with a relatively short life in the atmosphere but a very strong short-term warming effect. Scientists are increasingly finding that although we have begun to curb some emissions of carbon dioxide, the principal greenhouse gas, we are still thwarted by methane, which comes from a diversity of sources that range from oil and gas operations to cows.

Certainly, methane is a considerably more potent GHG than CO2, and, while it’s atmospheric lifespan is much shorter, it’s greenhouse potential is much, much higher, nor does it seem to have that pesky doubling issue, where it stops really making a difference. The study took a look at 267 reservoirs, not just dams that produce energy, and

The research, said Deemer, complicates the idea that hydropower is a carbon-neutral source of energy, although she stresses that the authors aren’t saying that they’re against using large bodies of water to generate energy through dams. Rather, they’re arguing that the greenhouse gas calculus has to be included in evaluating such projects.

Well, extreme enviro-weenies and Warmists are all for these projects in theory. In practice? They work overtime to block the construction of any new dams, and are even trying to take down existing ones. What this study is suggesting is more government intervention and oversight. Because, you know, Leftists love government.

The authors acknowledge the study  does not represent a full “life cycle analysis” of reservoirs, taking into account how much carbon was stored (or emitted from) lands prior to their being flooded, and also what happens after reservoirs are decommissioned. Nor does it attempt to weigh the methane emissions from reservoirs used to generate hydropower against the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that would presumably be created if that electricity was instead generated by burning coal or natural gas.

But it clearly suggests a need to take these emissions seriously, and conduct further research.

So, more taxpayer funds to continue to “study” this problem. Go figure

“We’re trying to provide policymakers and the public with a more complete picture of the consequences of damming a river,” said Harrison.

The consequences? Inexpensive energy, irrigation, and other benefits to human needs vs a tiny increase in global temperatures. Which do you choose?

Good Morning America Super Enthused Over Young Girl’s Speech Over Charlotte Shooting

If only liberals would consider the plight of young girls as they attempt to allow gender confused young boys into the girl’s bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms

(GMA) Peaceful protesters crowded Charlotte’s first city council meeting since the cop shooting of Keith Lamont Scott, with over 50 people speaking out against police violence.

But none of them stood out Monday quite as much as a young girl.

Zianna Oliphant, her hair done up in braids and tears streaking her face, brought into focus the stress police shootings place on children, as well as the pain the black community of Charlotte has suffered in the wake of Scott’s death last week.

“I’ve been born and raised in Charlotte. And I never felt this way until now and I can’t stand how we’re treated,” the grade-school girl said, wiping away tears.

She expressed the hardship that children face when a parent dies. Scott himself, who was African-American, had seven children.

“It’s a shame that we have to go to their graveyard and bury them. And we have tears. We shouldn’t have tears. We need our fathers and mothers to be by our side,” she said.

It’s a shame when that parent has an extensive criminal history, including violence and threats. Some of that violence and threats included use of a firearm. And included felony convictions. And restraining orders by his wife. And refusing to put the gun down.

Little Zianna is a human shield of people who do little to clean up the violence and criminality in their own community. She’s more likely to be injured or killed by her own people in her own neighborhood than by a police officer. Sadly, she’s being indoctrinated into hating the police, who just want to stop criminals from harming or killing her. Kids like Zianna are being to taught to disrespect police officers, so when a confrontation ensues, things escalate. They’re being used by activists and racists for a narrative that puts them in harm’s way.

There was a simple solution for this whole affair: Keith Scott just needed to put the gun down. Comply with the officer’s commands. Maybe not be smoking pot while waiting for his kid to come home from school. In fact, he should never have had the gun in the first place, since he was a convicted felon. Funny how criminals fail to follow the law, wouldn’t you say?

And it’s funny how this mostly seems to happen in cities run by the Democratic Party.

Good News: Obama Admin Can’t Be Bothered To Ask Refugees About Radical Views

Remember all the times when Mr. Obama said that the screening of refugees from war torn (supposedly) areas (which also happen to be Islamist areas) would be vigorous and complete? Of course, he also has stated that screening them based on religion (you know, the one that throws gays from buildings) is shameful. That they aren’t screened for social media content. And that Team Obama has cut the time to screen them? How’s this all working out in determining if these refugees will integrate and not be radicals?

(Daily Caller) A state department official could not answer Wednesday whether refugees are screened for radical views during a senate hearing.

Republican Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions asked Simon Henshaw, principal deputy assistant secretary at the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migrants of the U.S. Department of State, “do you make any inquiry about practices that we reject in the United States like female genital mutilation?”

Sessions added, “Do you say, ‘do you believe in that and when you come to the United States will you comply with the laws of the United States on that kind of question?’”

The state department official replied, “On all questions, we make it clear to refugees that we are a nation of laws and that they need to comply with our laws.”

“But you don’t ask them whether they would comply with that law?,” Sessions asked Henshaw. He replied, “I can’t answer that question, I don’t know.”

The entire exchange went like this (video at the link)

Sessions: “Do you take into consideration the applicant’s proficiency in English or even their literacy with regard to the country from which they come?”

Henshaw: “Our decisions to bring in refugees are based on their vulnerabilities.”

Sessions: “Do you make any inquiry about practices that we reject in the United States like female genital mutilation? Do you say, ‘do you believe in that and when you come to the United States will you comply with the laws of the United States on that kind of question?’”

Henshaw: “On all questions, we make it clear to refugees that we are a nation of laws and that they need to comply with our laws.”

Sessions: “But you don’t ask them whether they would comply with that law?”

Henshaw: “I can’t answer that question I don’t know.”

When testifying before Congress, “I don’t know” or any variant usually means “I don’t want to tell you.” Anyhow, this is fantastic. They don’t bother to ask if they can speak our language, they don’t care if they can communicate with the citizens here in the US, nor do they attempt to confirm if the “refugees” hold radical views.

It really doesn’t get any better when it comes to Henshaw’s boss

(WND) President Obama’s top official responsible for vetting refugees testified before the Senate Wednesday that it’s possible for people from Syria and other terrorist-infested countries to have their refugee applications approved based simply on personal interviews with a “highly trained” immigration officer.

Leon Rodriguez, director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, could not deny that in many cases there is no data from the refugee’s home country that would corroborate or refute his story. He tried to reassure the committee by saying the screening process is lengthy and continuously being improved, noting that the United Nations pre-screens the refugees before his office even sees them.

Under questioning from Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Rodriguez at first avoided giving a direct answer on whether it was possible to gain admission as a refugee based solely on an interview. That infuriated Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., who chairs the subcommittee on immigration and the national interest. His subcommittee conducted the hearing Wednesday on Obama’s refugee plans for fiscal year 2017, which begins Saturday, Oct. 1.

Thank goodness our government is working hard to safeguard U.S. citizens.

Too Good To Check: Hillary Had Debate Questions Weeks Beforehand

The funny part about all these types of conspiracy theories is that they so often turn out to have at least some truth to them, at least where the Clinton’s are concerned

(Baltimore Gazette) The first presidential debate was held and Hillary Clinton was proclaimed the winner by the media. Indeed Clinton was able to turn in a strong debate performance, but did she do so fairly? Multiple reports and leaked information from inside the Clinton camp claim that the Clinton campaign was given the entire set of debate questions an entire week before the actual debate.

Earlier last week an NBC intern was seen hand delivering a package to Clinton’s campaign headquarters, according to sources. The package was not given to secretarial staff, as would normally happen, but the intern was instead ushered into the personal office of Clinton campaign manager Robert Mook. Members of the Clinton press corps from several media organizations were in attendance at the time, and a reporter from Fox News recognized the intern, but said he was initially confused because the NBC intern was dressed like a Fed Ex employee.

There was no Fed Ex truck outside, and the intern left via another door. As the article writer notes, it will be almost impossible to fully prove this

Clinton seemed to have scripted responses ready for every question she was asked at the first debate. She had facts and numbers memorized for specific questions that it is very doubtful she would have had without being furnished the questions beforehand.

What happens if this is exposed? What happens if she seems utterly scripted during the next debate or two? Don’t discount that Hillary has long been in politics, and has done plenty of debating. Nor should anyone think she is not a very smart person. She certainly is. Would you put this past Hillary and the Dems along with their compliant media?

Anyhow, it’s an interesting theory to speculate on. Hey, if Howard Dean can say Trump is using cocaine and Team Hillary can start the Birther rumor……

Judge Defies Biology, Decides Privacy Rights Of Girls Are Unimportant

This is the world of Liberals, who tell us that women are super crazy important, but, women need to just shut up and deal with having penis forced upon them in their safe spaces

(Daily Caller) A federal judge ruled Monday that a school district in Ohio must treat a transgender boy “like the girl she is” and allow him unfettered access to a girl’s bathroom, according to local reports.

Judge Algenon Marbley, a Bill Clinton appointee, also said that Highland Local School District must treat the boy as a girl in all other aspects, using his chosen female name and referring to him with female pronouns at all times, reports The Blade, in Toledo, O.H.

Highland has been dealing with this highly confused boy (if the person in question has a penis, then a boy) since 2013, and sued to stop the tyrannical Obama administration from forcing the school to let the boy in with the girls. Team Obama had threatened to pull $1 million in federal funding. You know, money that came from taxpayers without a choice.

Doe, meanwhile, has been pursuing a civil rights complaint against Highland since late 2013. Besides ordering Highland to let Doe use whatever bathroom he wants, the federal government also told the school district that it needs to hire a gender-identity consultant who can train staff members to be properly sensitive on issues of gender identity.

The two cases collided in the ruling Monday. There is “certainly no evidence” that girls at Highland’s schools will have their well-being harmed by sharing facilities with a biological male, Marbley said. All showers at Doe’s school are curtained off, and toilets all have their own stalls, minimizing the risk that girls would encounter a penis in the bathroom, he added.

Hmm, that sounds like mansplaining, does it not? Remember this one?

On Wednesday, Alliance Defending Freedom filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of high school students and parents, asking the court to strike down a Minnesota school district policy that empowers a male student to enter the girls’ locker room and disrobe.

Not surprisingly, many girls have been distressed by the actions of the male student, which include twerking, grinding, and other sexually explicit actions. The response of the district and other authorities to the concerns has been a collective yawn.

I bet they thought, initially, that there would be no evidence of harm and privacy violations.

And, of course, the Highland school had offered an accommodation where the gender confused would use a single stall bathroom, but, apparently, not being able to use the female children’s rooms was taking a toll on his health, per the parents, who should be locked up for child abuse. They always have to include everyone else in their deviancy by force of government.

Choice and privacy are only applicable when it comes to abortion on demand.
