Good News: California Gov. Jerry Brown Wants People To Fly In For A ‘Climate Change’ Summit

Nothing says “fossil fuels are killing the climate!!!!!!” like inviting Warmists to fly in from all over the world. This was first reported by the LA Times a few days ago, and now it has come to fruition

(Mashable) California Governor Jerry Brown is not about to take a back seat to President Donald Trump when it comes to summit meetings, or for that matter, anything else. (I doubt Trump cares, but, hey, carry on with your TDS)

On Thursday, as world leaders gathered in Germany for a high-stakes G-20 Summit meeting, during which climate change policies will be a major source of tension, Brown announced he will be holding a Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco in 2018.

Since President Trump declared that the U.S. intends to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement, Brown has been using his status as the governor of the most populous state — and world’s sixth-largest economy — to negotiate directly with foreign governments, including China and Canada, on climate policies.

That’s super! Suddenly, Leftists are really, really interested in this whole federalism thing. I wonder what the carbon footprint is for having people fly in from all over the world?

“President Trump is trying to get out of the Paris Agreement, but he doesn’t speak for the rest of America. We in California and in states all across America believe it’s time to act, it’s time to join together and that’s why at this Climate Action Summit we’re going to get it done,” Brown said.

No, he just speaks for most of America.

Since Trump’s Paris Agreement announcement on June 1, dozens of mayors and 13 governors have bucked the White House and said they intend to meet the agreement’s goals anyway.

Again, it’s doubtful Trump cares. He in no way has attempted to stop states and municipalities from implementing their own silly climate change rules. He’s made zero statements on wanting to stop them. He. Doesn’t. Care. There is no bucking. Just TDS. And a rediscovery of federalism.

Despite Jump In Border Crossings, Numbers Are Well Below 2016

If you want to deter crime, is it best to make lots and lots of arrests after the crimes have occurred, or find a way to deter people from committing the crimes in the first place? That’s correct, you attempt to dissuade people from doing it first. Hence, a huge part of the plan Trump and his team have initiated is to cause the fear that has dramatically reduced the flow of illegals entering this country. Going after all illegals, not just the serious criminals. Detaining them almost anywhere. Making few exceptions. Going after the sanctuary jurisdictions that shelter illegals. How’s this all working out?

(Daily Caller) Arrests of illegal aliens along the U.S.-Mexico border ticked up in June but remained well below the number recorded in the same month last year, according to government figures released Friday.

Data from Customs and Border Protection shows that 21,659 people were arrested trying to illegally cross the Southwest border last month, a 9 percent jump from May, when the total was 19,962.

Even with the rise, June arrests were down 53 percent year-over-year. CBP also reported that year-to-date arrests at the border are 19 percent lower in FY2017 than the same period in FY2016. The figures include both apprehensions by Border Patrol agents and individuals deemed inadmissible at points of entry.

In fact, every month Trump has been in office has been much lower than every year since 2012 (from the link in the excerpt)

Overall, border crossings are on track to be 21% less than 2016.

The month-to-month uptick for June, the second straight month that arrests have risen, bucks a six-year trend in which immigration arrests have declined from May to June. While it is too early to tell if the recent increase marks the beginning of a bigger surge, the rising arrest figures could give the Trump administration fresh ammunition to argue for its border security agenda, especially the president’s call to build a wall along the entire U.S.-Mexico border

On the other hand, the border wall could become a victim of Trump’s initial success in reducing the flow of illegal immigration across the Southwest border. The total number of apprehensions at the border and ports of entry has fallen to a six-year low in each of the five full months since Trump took office, causing some lawmakers to question whether an uninterrupted, border-spanning barrier is necessary.

That’s what I’ve been saying for a long time. Heck, Ann Coulter used to say this, prior to her falling in love with Trump for him saying he would build a beautiful wall. If Team Trump would next go after private entities for sheltering illegals (they don’t have to even prosecute, just threaten prosecution, perhaps with a few examples of prosecution of 8 US Code 1324), go hard after companies that hire illegals, go hard after those who overstayed their visas, and continue the tough talk on illegals, plus other tough measures, it would not only continue the serious drop in the flow of illegals, but get many to self deport. It would reduce the number who attempt to come and be let in. A wall would only be needed in a few areas, relying more on manpower.

TDS: Washington Post Settles Question As To Whether Trump Can Pardon Himself

It’s a given in anti-Trump World that he 100% colluded with Russia and Putin to steal the election from Hillary Clinton. There’s no doubt in their minds that he was involved, despite absolutely no evidence having materialized in an investigation that has gone on for over a year at this point. The media has not found anything. The government has so far found nothing. All sorts of Democrats, including some of the loudest TDS sufferers, have noted that there is no evidence. Nothing will stop those suffering from TDS, including the Washington Post’s Elizabeth Holtzman

So, could Trump pardon himself?

Can President Trump pardon himself? Can he pardon his close associates and family members?

These questions have begun to simmer as special counsel Robert S. Mueller III ramps up his investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia in its interference with the 2016 presidential election. Mueller is also, undoubtedly, looking into whether the president obstructed justice by firing FBI Director James B. Comey. Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law, is reportedly under investigation as well.

The only place they’re simmering are in the fever swamps of Liberal World, where the nutjobs are obsessed with this, rather than truly considering why it is they lost well over a 1,000 federal and state seats during Obama’s presidency, ending with the loss of the White House.

So it’s a live question: Infuriated by these investigations, will the president try to short-circuit them by pardoning himself and others caught up in the Mueller investigations? And, if he did, would those pardons be valid?

The Constitution’s pardon provision gives the president the power “to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.” Some argue that because the language is broad and there is no explicit prohibition, presidents may pardon themselves.

But this is simplistic and specious. Presidential self-pardoning would violate the basic structure of our Constitution, and the whole history of the pardon power strongly weighs against the concept.

So, you can stop hyperventilating now, Leftartds. Rest easy. Trump can’t pardon himself. You can continue with your impeachment fantasies without worrying that he could be convicted of…..what? Even if he did collude, there is no law broken. There is no law against this. But, hey, that doesn’t matter in Nutter World, because of derangement.

It bears repeating that Putin interfering was more about hurting Hillary than helping Trump. No matter who the GOP candidate was, Putin was going to hurt Hillary. Even James Comey noted this. We know that Putin had a grudge against Hillary. Heck, he hated her. Obama didn’t really do anything to stop the interference. Heck, what if Obama didn’t want Hillary to win? She sure didn’t seem to want to win, what with blowing off a few states, fainting on 9/11, denigrating a large section of the American people, and so forth. Regardless, the Democrats have fallen into the trap laid by Putin by allowing themselves to become unhinged nutjobs, diving the country even more.

Nothing, though, will dissuade Leftist from their obsession with Russia.

Bummer: ICE Told To Take Action Against All Unlawfully Present Immigrants

Somehow, this old directive has resurfaced and gotten the knickers of leftists in a twist

ICE Officers Told to Take Action Against All Undocumented Immigrants Encountered While on Duty

The head of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement unit in charge of deportations has directed his officers to take action against all undocumented immigrants they may cross paths with, regardless of criminal histories. The guidance appears to go beyond the Trump administration’s publicly stated aims, and some advocates say may explain a marked increase in immigration arrests.

In a February memo, Matthew Albence, a career official who heads the Enforcement and Removal Operations division of ICE, informed his 5,700 deportation officers that, “effective immediately, ERO officers will take enforcement action against all removable aliens encountered in the course of their duties.”

I suppose these documents are just showing up or something, but, what’s the problem? These people are unlawfully present in the United States, hence, shouldn’t be here and are targets to be deported.

In recent months, the number of undocumented immigrants arrested who are considered to be non-criminals has risen. (Under the law, merely being here illegally is not a crime. Rather, it’s a civil violation.) Between February and May, the Trump administration arrested, on average, 108 undocumented immigrants a day with no criminal record, an uptick of some 150 percent from the same time period a year ago.

The civil penalty is deportation. Surprise!

Say, Can the Caribbean Survive ‘Climate Change’?

More fear-mongering

Well, I guess all those Caribbean countries/properties should stop allowing fossil fueled flights to their nations for tourism. And fossil fueled boats for tourism and fishing expeditions. And fossil fueled vehicles to move tourists around. And fossil fueled deliveries from outside their countries for food, clothing, goods, etc.

Philipsburg, Sint Maarten—Franklin, middle-aged inhabitant of the Caribbean island of Saint Martin, cocked his head when I asked him about climate change. “There is already a lot of flooding because of storm surges in hurricane season,” he said, his ebony brow creased. “If the sea level rises four feet, then Philipsburg is gone.” Philipsburg is the capital of the Dutch side of the island, Sint Maarten, a major receiver of cruise ships, with its Front Street a collage of high-end shopping and outlets for island specialties like guavaberry liqueur. The UN estimates that the oceans will rise at least four feet in the next eight decades.

There doesn’t seem to be much in the way of measurements for Sint Maarten (that is the proper spelling), a property of the Netherlands to the east of the Virgin Islands, but, let’s look nearby.

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico shows a 2.08mm per year rise, equivalent to .68 feet over 100 years
  • The short data for Charlotte Amalie, US Virgin Islands, is 2.07mm, so, same as San Juan
  • Magueyes Island, Puerto Rico, is 1.75mm, so .57 feet over 100 years

So, not “at least four feet.” Not even close.

Flooding from storm surge during hurricane season? How is that in any way unusual? Especially since it is on the northeastern edge of the Caribbean?

The rest is the typical apocalyptic apoplectic scare mongering based on junk science. Should we be using those quotes like the media likes to use, “science”?

NY Times Buries The Real Story On Deporting Iraqi Christians

There’s an old Internet maxim, namely that most people will read the first 3 paragraphs or 30 seconds of any article. After that, they either skim through it, head to the comments, or just move on. I remember an LA Times hitjob on President George W. Bush, castigating him for daring to require active military members to pay a deductible when hurt. Alas, we learned deep in the article that the deductible only applied when they hurt themselves when not in performance of their duties. Now we get

(Daily Caller) A New York Times story on hundreds of Iraqi Christians rounded up for deportation used the kind of insufferable weeping not seen since The Notebook was in theaters to bury the most important supporting information of the piece: “[T]heir green cards were revoked after criminal convictions on charges including theft, drug possession, rape and murder.”

Yes, that’s verbatim from the tenth paragraph of Vivian Yee’s Wednesday immigration report in the Times. You might not have seen it though, because Yee meandered her way through the killing fields in Iraq, the persecution of Christians (something the Times has always been really concerned about), and, of course, President Donald Trump’s bigotry, before she actually told readers the truth: They’re being deported for breaking the law.

Not any whimsical lawbreaking either, no, ma’am, they weren’t scooped up for unpaid parking tickets. Once more, with gusto: “theft, drug possession, rape and murder.”

That’s right, it took 10 paragraphs to get to the actual reality of the story. Here’s the first 3 paragraphs

A few Sundays ago, federal immigration agents walked through the doors of handsome houses here in the Detroit suburbs, brushing past tearful children, stunned wives and statuettes of the Virgin Mary in search of men whose time was up.

If the Trump administration prevails, more than 100 of these men may soon be deported, like the tens of thousands of other people rounded up this year as part of a national clampdown on illegal immigration.

But the arrests may have stunned this community more than most.

What about 30 seconds?

While President Trump was hurling verbal napalm at Mexico and vowing to keep out Muslims during his campaign, he was also promising to look out for people from these men’s besieged corner of the world.

They are Christians from Iraq — a land that they and their families fled decades ago because, they say, to live as a Christian in Iraq is no life at all, and sometimes means death. They settled in Detroit and its suburbs, accumulating into what may now be the largest population of Chaldean Christians in the world. They opened businesses, founded a dozen Chaldean Catholic churches and rose in numbers and wealth.

Even so, they, too, are subject to American immigration law — despite what the Chaldean community took to be an ironclad promise from a president whose election many of them saw as a miracle from God, helped along by their donations, their prayers and blessings from religious leaders.

“Christians in the Middle East have been executed in large numbers. We cannot allow this horror to continue!” Mr. Trump said on Twitter in January, returning to a campaign-trail refrain that had captured Chaldean hearts and ballots across this stretch of Macomb and Oakland Counties. As the Chaldeans like to say, once with pride, now with fury, the area helped tip Michigan to Mr. Trump in November.

You might have gotten that far. Would the average Internet reader make it to the part about their actual serious crimes? Or would most think “boy howdy, that Trump guy is super mean”?

The Washington Post Is Having A Problem Understanding What “Our Values” Are

Mr. Trump apparently said something pretty darned controversial while speaking in Poland Thursday. He talked about “our values” and “Western values”. This has led many on the left to have conniption fits, including the Editorial Board of the Washington Post

Trump wants us to defend ‘our values.’ Which ones?

“DO WE have the confidence in our values to defend them at any cost?” President Trump asked during his speech in Warsaw on Thursday. That’s an important question, and so is this: Which values is he summoning us to defend?

There were encouraging elements in his address suggesting that he was referring to the universal values that America celebrated earlier this week, on the anniversary of its declaration of independence.

Would that be the Independence Day celebration, which saw liberals out in the streets with their same old complaints about wanting more and more Big Government controlling more and more of their lives?

Yet elements of his address left doubt as to whether Mr. Trump views such values as truly universal. “The fundamental question of our time is whether the West has the will to survive,” he said. If by “the West” he means anyone embracing the values of human rights, freedom and the dignity of every individual, he may be right. But those are hardly the property of the United States and Europe. They are treasured by the ailing Liu Xiaobo in China, by bloggers fighting for freedom in Ugandaand by legislators fighting off the Maduro regime’s thugs in Venezuela. They belong to people of all colors, all sexual orientations and all — or no — religion. When Mr. Trump urges “us all to fight like the Poles, for family, for freedom, for country and for God,” does “all” truly mean “all”?

Had it been Mr. Obama making the statement (which he never did, but, he did bash the United States multiple times while overseas), the WPEB would be squeeing like a schoolgirl seeing New Direction live in concert.

Perhaps what gives the most doubt is that he celebrated “the right to free speech and free expression” without mentioning that the government welcoming him has worked worryingly to narrow those freedoms (WT – pretty weak sauce in that article), along with the independence of its judiciary — and without mentioning that, at home, Mr. Trump himself has been far from a tribune of the free press. “Above all,” he said, “we value the dignity of every human life, protect the rights of every person and share the hope of every soul to live in freedom.” Many people will cheer those words — and will watch to see how his administration lives up to them in its interactions with Saudi Arabia and China, Russia and Egypt, and at home.

Well, at least he’s talking about them. Mr. Obama yammered on about embracing the values of 3rd world nations, which love things like Sharia law, killing the infidel, honor killings, slavery, systemic rape gangs, women as 2nd class citizens, and so much more.

Has Mr. Trump stopped the free press? Has he spied on them, blackballed them, sicced the FBI on them. Not too mention spying on lawmakers (including ones in his own party) and candidates for office.

Then we have wackos like Peter Beinart

The Racial and Religious Paranoia of Trump’s Warsaw Speech

No need to get beyond the headline, you can guess where this bit of typical Leftist race mongering (by a White elitist with all the correct schools and connections) and anti-Christian sentiment goes.

Vox had their own requisite freakout, as did the New York Magazine and Raw Story. It’s going to be a long four years for the moonbats.

Army Tells Female Members They Must Accept Naked Gender Confused Males In Showers

It’s high time that the United States military stop being a testing ground of the social justice warrior crowd

(Christian Post) The U.S. Army is instructing its female soldiers to “accept” having men in their showers and changing areas who are “transitioning” but still have their male genitalia, according to training documents that have been released. (snip)

On Wednesday, James Hasson, a former Army captain, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan and law student at University of Virginia, wrote in a piece published by The Federalist that he has obtained a “Tier Three Transgender Training” PowerPoint and accompanying lesson plan being used by the Army in mandatory transgender training sessions.

“The active-duty officer who sent the materials completed the training with 40 other soldiers last week instead of conducting their morning physical training as usual,” Hasson wrote. “The force-wide presentation sheds quite a bit of light on the implications of the rule change on transgender service members. The policy prioritizes subjective feelings over combat-readiness and inverts military order by placing the needs of individuals over the well-being of their units.”

All that’s necessary to change “gender” is a bit of paperwork, to go along with the mental insanity. No actual sex change is required

A PowerPoint slide titled “Vignette Four” outlines what types of changes soldiers can expect to see in “barracks, bathrooms and showers.”

“Following her transition from male to female (which did not include sex reassignment surgery) and gender marker change in DEERS, a transgender soldier begins using female barracks, bathroom and shower facilities,” the slide reads. “Because she did not undergo a surgical change, the Soldier still has male genitalia.”

“All soldiers must use the barracks, bathroom and shower facilities associated with their gender marker in DEERS,” the slide added. “Understand that you may encounter individuals in barracks, bathrooms and shower facilities with physical characteristics of the opposite sex despite having the same gender marker in DEERS.”

In other words, female soldiers must suck it up and have the gender confused in their showers, locker rooms, changing rooms, and baracks. And if they do not like it, they can resign or receive a courts martial.
