When Your Attempt To Scare Everyone With Utter Doom Loses Michael Mann….

A bit of a follow up to the earlier post on the Earth becoming utterly unable to sustain life, we find

(Esquire) But for every doomsday scenario, there’s a more measured take. Climatologist Michael Mann, who said he was interviewed but not quoted for the New York story, shared why he disagreed with some of its points:

(Facebook post is here)

In all fairness, Mann has been a charlatan, relied upon shoddy and manufacture evidence, but, he hasn’t usually be a big fear-mongerer. Say, a 4 on a scale of 10. That article in question is a 10.

They’re all still wrong, but, that’s besides the point for the sake of this post.

Study: Sweden Is The Best Place To Be An Immigrant (no mention of how good it is for actual citizens)

Now, this is not about illegal immigration. This is primarily about legal immigration, but, to the Leftists who support illegal immigration they are one and the same, so, lots and lots of outlets are touting this study

(Washington Post) A new ranking of the best countries to be an immigrant has placed Sweden in the top spot, closely followed by Canada, Switzerland, Australia and Germany. The United States, a country which was largely founded through mass immigration, came in seventh.

U.S. News and World Report, which compiled the ranking, said it looked at measures such as economic stability, income equality and job markets to create its list, using a special survey of the opinions of more than 21,000 business leaders and other elites, as well as members of the public.

The ranking’s authors say they also used data from the World Bank and the United Nations on migrant populations in different countries, as well as the amount of remittance sent back to their country of birth. The immigration project is part of a broader ranking, launched by U.S. News and World Report last year, that attempts to determine the world’s “best” countries in the same way that the publication also ranks colleges, hospitals and cars.

Hooray, Sweden! Hey, do you like that little shot they took at the United States, which takes in more legal immigrants and refugees than every other nation? And always has?

What’s not noted in the survey is how it works out for the actual citizens of Sweden. Little things like mass rape, gang rapes, no go zones, escalating crime, sexual assaults, pedophilia, riots, assaults on police, all well higher than what would be normal rates, thanks to all the importations of, yes, Muslims. You can caterwaul about “racism”, bigotry, and Islamophobia as much as you want. Facts do not care about your feelings and caterwauling. They aren’t integrating. In fact, they’re demanding that the Swedes accommodate and integrate in the 3rd World radical Islamic viewpoints the immigrants bring. Just 57% are working, compared to the 82% of the native born, and the foreigners are demanding money to do nothing. A whole parallel society is growing. And clashing, violently, with the existing one.

Perhaps this is all why the door in Sweden is swing back closed. Not just for Middle Eastern/Northern Africa refugees, but people from across Europe.

The State Of Hate: Democrat Run Areas Sure Seem Hateful

According to the USA Today, hate crimes seems to be growing

The state of hate in America

It feels like nearly every week, America is rattled by a new incident of hate.

In June, a white man in a Chicago Starbucks was filmed calling a black man a slave, and a white woman in a New Jersey Sears was videotaped making bigoted comments against a family she believed was Indian (they were not). In May, two men on a Portland train were stabbed to death trying to stop a white supremacist’s anti-Muslim tirade against two teenagers.

Hate symbols are showing up around the country: nooses in the nation’s capital, racist graffiti on the front gate of LeBron James’ Los Angeles home, a banner with an anti-Semitic slur over a Holocaust memorial in Lakewood, N.J. On Saturday, the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan rallied in Charlottesville, Va., less than two months after white supremacist Richard Spencer — who coined the term “alt-right” — led a similar protest in the city against the removal of a Confederate monument. Several white nationalist groups are planning another rally for Aug. 12.

In all but one, these incidents occurred in places that vote Democrat. And are run by Democrats. The KKK rally occurred in a state that voted for Hillary, in a county (Albermarle) that went for Hillary 59-34%. Lakewood, NJ, is in Monmouth county, which went for Trump.

Let’s not forget that the KKK was essentially an organ of the Democratic Party. They invented it. They stoked it. They were members. But, then, Democrats decided there was a better way to deal with Blacks, namely, keeping them down and in poverty in urban slums, entirely beholden to government and voting against their best interests.

One has to wonder why so many incidents of hate occur in Democratic Party voting areas.

While the FBI’s data typically show 5,000 to 6,000 hate crimes a year, the Department of Justice’s estimates are much higher. A report out this month from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, based on data from the National Crime Victimization Survey, show Americans experienced an average of 250,000 hate crime victimizations each year from 2004 to 2015. About a quarter of hate crime victims who didn’t report said they feared police wouldn’t be able to help them.

Well, that’s interesting. Two-thirds of that time had Mr. Obama, the Great Healer, the guy who was going to bring us all together, in office. Let’s face it, though: they aren’t crimes. They are simply people being big jerks. You know, like has always happened. I’ve been called many nasty words, both in the real world and on-line, been insulted because I’m white, and I don’t think that’s a crime. Just people being jerks. I move on.

The article offers up two tweets as examples

How is that linked to being victimized? Other than the PT abusing the daughter by making her scared.

Can someone point out that the person who committed the Pulse nightclub massacre was a Muslim going all jihad because gays are icky in Islam? You want hate? How about gays being thrown off buildings in extremist Islam areas?

Of course, this “news” article (it was front page on the Android app, front on Internet, and it is in the news section) attempts to blame Trump and people who voted for him, failing to note how often these incidents occur in Democratic Party areas, and further fails to mention all the hateful rhetoric and actions by Hillary voters.

Nor does it mention that simply being a jerk is not a crime. The disgusting anti-Semetic banner in Lakewood? Total jerks (to put it mildly). But, not a crime.

But, hey, if Democrats are so worried, maybe they should reign themselves in.

NY Magazine: The Earth Will Soon Be Too Hot For Humans Or Something

There’s climate alarmist scaremongering, and then there’s climate alarmist SCAREMONGERING OMG WE’RE ALL DOOOOOOOOOMED!

https://twitter.com/drvox/status/884256911926755330

Don’t you just love that graphic? The bones of a human hand made to look like preserved dinosaur bones. They have several more in the screed, like

From the doomry (doom story)

It is, I promise, worse than you think. If your anxiety about global warming is dominated by fears of sea-level rise, you are barely scratching the surface of what terrors are possible, even within the lifetime of a teenager today. And yet the swelling seas — and the cities they will drown — have so dominated the picture of global warming, and so overwhelmed our capacity for climate panic, that they have occluded our perception of other threats, many much closer at hand. Rising oceans are bad, in fact very bad; but fleeing the coastline will not be enough.

Indeed, absent a significant adjustment to how billions of humans conduct their lives, parts of the Earth will likely become close to uninhabitable, and other parts horrifically inhospitable, as soon as the end of this century.

That’s so bad, so utterly preposterous and unhinged, that it is beyond what a typical facepalm gif could accomplish.

Even when we train our eyes on climate change, we are unable to comprehend its scope. This past winter, a string of days 60 and 70 degrees warmer than normal baked the North Pole, melting the permafrost that encased Norway’s Svalbard seed vault — a global food bank nicknamed “Doomsday,” designed to ensure that our agriculture survives any catastrophe, and which appeared to have been flooded by climate change less than ten years after being built.

That again? What scaremongering fable writer David Wallace-Wells failed to mention is that the seeds were never in danger, and that it is entirely normal for there to be some leaking into the end of the tunnel.

The Doomsday vault is fine, for now: The structure has been secured and the seeds are safe. But treating the episode as a parable of impending flooding missed the more important news. Until recently, permafrost was not a major concern of climate scientists, because, as the name suggests, it was soil that stayed permanently frozen. But Arctic permafrost contains 1.8 trillion tons of carbon, more than twice as much as is currently suspended in the Earth’s atmosphere. When it thaws and is released, that carbon may evaporate as methane, which is 34 times as powerful a greenhouse-gas warming blanket as carbon dioxide when judged on the timescale of a century; when judged on the timescale of two decades, it is 86 times as powerful. In other words, we have, trapped in Arctic permafrost, twice as much carbon as is currently wrecking the atmosphere of the planet, all of it scheduled to be released at a date that keeps getting moved up, partially in the form of a gas that multiplies its warming power 86 times over.

Using it as a parable is good. The proper one would be “the Doomsday Vault was built in an area that tends to get some flooding from meltwater in a manner that doesn’t let it avoid the meltwater. So, it’s a manufactured issue. Just like anthropogenic climate change.”

Maybe you know that already — there are alarming stories every day, like last month’s satellite data showing the globe warming, since 1998, more than twice as fast as scientists had thought. Or the news from Antarctica this past May, when a crack in an ice shelf grew 11 miles in six days, then kept going; the break now has just three miles to go — by the time you read this, it may already have met the open water, where it will drop into the sea one of the biggest icebergs ever, a process known poetically as “calving.”

The first is based on “adjusting” the data and models, typical for the non-science Warmists. The Antarctica thing is due to warming underneath, which science shows mostly to be from volcanic activity. And, it hasn’t met open water.

In between scientific reticence and science fiction is science itself. This article is the result of dozens of interviews and exchanges with climatologists and researchers in related fields and reflects hundreds of scientific papers on the subject of climate change. What follows is not a series of predictions of what will happen — that will be determined in large part by the much-less-certain science of human response. Instead, it is a portrait of our best understanding of where the planet is heading absent aggressive action. It is unlikely that all of these warming scenarios will be fully realized, largely because the devastation along the way will shake our complacency. But those scenarios, and not the present climate, are the baseline. In fact, they are our schedule.

Did the writer talk to any scientists who do not buy into the utter doom and gloom? Reading through the long, tedious, we’re (maybe might could possibly weasel words are used throughout) doomed screed, it’s doubtful. We have sections and mentions of the coming 6th mass extinction, massive numbers of heat deaths (because, apparently, Warmists can’t take a tiny increase in temperature), The End Of Food (the header for one section), climate plagues, unbreathable air, perpetual war, permanent economic collapse, poisoned oceans, and so forth.

But, hey, if you’re willing to give up your money, your modern lifestyle, and your freedom to Centralized Government, everything will be alright. Maybe.

Ivanka Trump Briefly Subs For POTUS At G20, Media Handles This As Calmly As You’d Expect

So, this happened

As you can guess, American Leftists went ballistic, as you can see at Twitchy. And a different Washington Post screed by Kristine Phillips

But, that was not enough for the Washington Post, because Democracy Dies In Darkness or something (there’s an add embedded in the story about subscribing because “the story must be told”), and they’re more interested in smearing rather than actual reporting and facts, as Abby Phillips gives Apoplexy a whirl

Ivanka Trump takes father’s seat at G-20 leaders’ table in break from diplomatic protocol

Ivanka Trump was deputized to fill in for her father at a table of world leaders at the Group of 20 summit on Saturday, reigniting questions about the unorthodox mixing of family and government in President Trump’s White House.

The moment, captured in a pixelated photo by a member of Russia’s delegation, seemed to perfectly capture the scope of the first daughter’s expansive influence in Trump’s administration. But it drew sharp criticism by some who say that the move demonstrates Trump’s flouting of democratic norms against such familial arrangements as well-established diplomatic protocols.

Former NATO ambassador Nicholas Burns, who served as a diplomat under Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, said the incident was a breach of protocols for such summits. Those traditions are intended to send a clear message to world leaders about who has power in the government.

Burns said in his experience at summits, the secretary of state would take the president’s place at the table.

“This is a group of the 20 most powerful leaders in the world in the 20 most powerful countries in the world,” Burns said. “It conveys that impression and we are a democracy and that’s also important here.”

“Authority is not conferred upon family members because of the president’s position,” he added.

OMG no!!!!!! How horrible!

“Yes, it stuck out,” said a senior European official who took part in the G-20 talks and who spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak candidly. “The very fact that his daughter is senior adviser smacks of the kind of nepotism not seen since John F. Kennedy named Robert F. Kennedy as attorney general.”

See? This unnamed source says this is exactly like if he named her attorney general!!!!!

Some critics online compared Ivanka Trump’s presence at the table to a “banana republic” and argued that she is both “unelected” and “unqualified” to step into a role usually filled by officials with policy expertise.

A banana republic!!!!! America is doomed!!!!! Oh, wait

(Bloomberg) A spokesman for Ivanka Trump said she had been sitting in the back of the room and then briefly joined the main table when the president stepped out. The president of the World Bank addressed the meeting, which was about African migration and health — areas that would benefit from a facility that Ivanka Trump and the World Bank had announced shortly before the meeting, the spokesman said.

G-20 leaders are allowed to bring staff into the room for some of the meetings, and when other leaders stepped out during today’s session, their seats were briefly filled by others. Ivanka Trump serves as an unpaid adviser to her father, as an assistant to the president.

So, this was nothing unusual, especially as she wasn’t there long. As Jazz Shaw notes

Ivanka Trump is a presidential adviser and travels on many of these trips as part of the staff. Donald Trump was not the speaker nor did he have any “official duties” at that point beyond listening to the presentation. If you don’t think his daughter is capable of doing that much and summarizing it for him later then you apparently have a problem with women.

We also learn that Donald stepped away to, get this, have one-on-one meetings with other world leaders.

I’d ask liberals to just do some calming exercises, relax, but, we all know that won’t happen.

All Hail The Wonders Of Single Payer Medicine

This is what Progressives want, though, as they learned in California, there’s no way to actually pay for it. Not without drastic restrictions in service (via Twitchy)

Let’s take a brief look at the article, shall we?

One million patients a week cannot get appointments with GPs, amid the longest waiting times on record, new figures show.

Doctors said they were working “flat out” but under “unsustainable” pressure, leaving “worrying” numbers of patients without any help.

The NHS figures show the number waiting at least a week to see their GP has risen by 56 per cent in five years, with one in five now waiting this long.

The pressures left 11.3 per cent of patients unable to get an appointment at all – a 27 per cent rise since 2012. This amounts to around 47 million occasions on which patients attempted but failed to secure help from their GP, forcing them to give up, try again later or turn to Accident & Emergency departments.

The article doesn’t get any better from there. No silver linings. Just a rise in people who are unable to even get through on the phone, and many just giving up despite deteriorating health conditions. Yet, liberals keep telling us how great these systems are. Right up to the point where they are the ones having issues.
