And you have to know that this will reinforce their Belief in man caused Hotcoldwetdry
The Met Office is planning a new heatwave definition for the climate change era
The recent bout of hot weather was deemed to be a “hotspell†not a “heatwaveâ€.
When is a hotspell a heatwave? It’s a question the UK’s Met Office say is still not settled.
Speaking in the latest session of the Environmental Audit Committee’s Heatwaves inquiry, the Met Office’s Dr Peter Stott confirmed that there is no “universally agreed definition of a heatwaveâ€.
The present definition used by the World Meteorological Organisation requires the average daily temperature to exceed the normal maximum temperature by five degrees celcius, for more than five consecutive days. It calculates the normal temperature using the period between 1961-1990.
But this isn’t much help when it comes to establishing how heat feels to the people experiencing it: sun-hardened Texans in air-conditioned homes may be less likely to notice a five degree rise in temperature than sweaty Brits smushed together on the London tube.
You can see where this is going, right?
According to press officer Grahame Madge, the new system aims “to help with the broader messaging and communication around spells of hot weather across the whole of the UKâ€. And Dr Stott told the committee that he hopes it will be ready in time for the summer.
It’s all about feelings, and what they’re telling you you should feel about the coming Doom, as it relates to a tiny increase in global temperatures, as they predict doomy reps sooooooon.

One has to wonder how hard liberals are praying that this whole thing fails in order to make President Donald Trump look bad
(Breitbart/AP) With a single step over a weathered, cracked slab of concrete, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made history Friday by crossing over the world’s most heavily armed border to greet his rival, South Korean President Moon Jae-in, for talks on North Korea’s nuclear weapons. Kim then invited Moon to cross briefly north with him before they returned to the southern side.
Those small steps must be seen in the context of the last year — when the United States, its ally South Korea and the North seemed at times to be on the verge of nuclear war as the North unleashed a torrent of weapons tests — but also in light of the long, destructive history of the rival Koreas, who fought one of the 20th century’s bloodiest conflicts and even today occupy a divided peninsula that’s still technically in a state of war.
It was all smiles Friday as Moon grasped Kim’s hand and led him along an blindingly red carpet into South Korean territory, where school children placed flowers around their necks and an honor guard stood at attention for inspection.
Beyond the surface, however, it’s still not clear whether the leaders can make any progress in closed-door talks on the nuclear issue, which has bedeviled U.S. and South Korean officials for decades. North Korea’s nuclear and missile tests last year likely put it on the threshold of becoming a legitimate nuclear power. North Korea claims it has already risen to that level.
Kim’s news agency said that the leader would “open-heartedly†discuss with Moon “all the issues arising in improving inter-Korean relations and achieving peace, prosperity and reunification of the Korean peninsula†in a “historic†summit. It’s the first time one of the ruling Kim leaders has crossed over to the southern side of the Demilitarized Zone since the Korean War ended in 1953.
Is Kim serious or playing a game?
Expectations are generally low, given that past so-called breakthroughs on North Korea’s weapons have collapsed amid acrimonious charges of cheating and bad faith. Skeptics of engagement have long said that the North often turns to interminable rounds of diplomacy meant to ease the pain of sanctions — giving it time to perfect its weapons and win aid for unfulfilled nuclear promises.
Advocates of engagement say the only way to get a deal is to do what the Koreas will try Friday: Sit down and see what’s possible.
And sit down they shall. Then comes the summit with the two Korean leaders and Donald Trump. What comes out of it? We can only guess. But, remember, so many thought Trump’s bluster was a bad thing

Perhaps the bluster and insults and staying strong made an impact. One thing you can bet on, there won’t be a deal signed that will keep North Korea’s nuclear weapons program in check for a period of time, after which they have carte blanche to go for it, ala the Iran deal.
Crossed at First Street Journal.

Does the ACLU understand these people are not Americans? Do they even care? And do they, and the Houston Chronicle, understand the difference between legal immigrants and illegal aliens? And, do they even care?
ACLU launches immigrant rights campaign as arrests are up
The American Civil Liberties Union launched a six-figure, celebrity-studded campaign Thursday to ensure immigrants know their rights in interactions with federal agents, including spots on Spanish radio and targeted, multilingual ads on Facebook and YouTube.
It includes videos voiced by Diane Guerrero from the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black and Kumail Nanjiani from HBO’s Emmy Award-nominated series Silicon Valley. The ads feature the phone number to volunteer-led rapid response networks to flag immigration raids and help immigrants get legal representation.
Under President Donald Trump’s administration, immigration agents have doubled down on arrests, often targeting immigrants who previously were not priorities for deportation, such as those married to American citizens and people who have been here illegally for decades without committing other crimes.
“We want to be a click or listen away for someone to know their rights and be empowered against Trump’s deportation force,” said Natalie Montelongo, ACLU campaign strategist, in a statement.
Funny they didn’t do this while people were being deported under Obama. In fact, under Obama, fewer were being caught in the interior but more were being deported.
The ACLU has a bunch of videos attempting to tell illegal aliens to not open the door for any ICE agent unless they have a warrant signed by a judge. And to lawyer up from the charge of ….. being unlawfully present in the U.S. This should make all those illegal alien gang members, like in MS-13, feel super safe.
Interestingly, the ACLU will be doing something they complained about others doing
The Spanish and English ads will be featured on Radio Campesina, part of the Cesar Chavez Foundation and a trusted news source amongst farm workers and the undocumented community, and online through Facebook, Pandora, and YouTube. The digital ads will run in Alaska, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. The ACLU’s sophisticated targeting will ensure that the ads reach impacted communities in their native language, by using tactics such as identifying people browsing Facebook with the language set to Spanish in key areas.
So, they’re going to mine Facebook for private data? Huh.
The series was created with input from immigrant communities and legal experts and is voiced by an all-star cast of influencers and activists, including Jesse Williams (English), Diane Guerrero (Spanish), Kumail Nanjiani (Urdu), Linda Sarsour (Arabic), Edwidge Danticat (Haitian Creole), Katya Lee (Russian), and Xiren Wang (Mandarin).
Nice to know they’re working with an affirmed Islamic supremacist and Jew hater in Linda Sarsour.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with being eco-friendly. But, that’s not what they want. They want indoctrination into the Cult of Climastrology
New Eco-Friendly Preschool Hosts Open House
Sugarland Learning Academy’s newest location in Leesburg will hold an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The preschool has what it calls a “lean to green†academic program that exposes students to lessons on how to take care of the earth. “Our building comes with unique features such as geo-thermal flooring and solar panels. Our students are given the opportunity to experience the solar panels and the distribution of energy through advanced technology,†stated owner Hasina Siddiq.
Students are taught about alternative energy sources; how harmful emissions can contribute to global warming; and the benefits of gardening, composting and recycling.
Isn’t this a little much for 4 and 5 year olds? Can’t they just be kids?

Everybody panic?
Could climate change be ruining the taste of your favorite craft beer?
Craft beer is a $1 billion industry in Arizona, but a warmer environment has many in the industry worried about its future.
The business owners who run craft beer businesses were concerned about future water shortages and even the flavor of a key beer ingredient: Hops.
Tempe City Councilwoman Lauren Kuby said that by supporting local craft beer brewers, the public is helping both business and the environment.
“The best way you can defend beer and in some ways fight climate change, is by supporting local breweries who are really into the sustainability movement trying to save water, save energy,†Kuby said.
Professor Paul Hirt, an environmental history teacher at Arizona State University and a Salt River Project board member, said climate change affects the taste of beer through hops.
“Hotter summers are creating more of the bitter profile that brewers are not looking for,†Hirt said.
Unsurprisingly, Hirt is a critic of Trump’s Hotcoldwetdry policy (and probably everything else Trump). I wonder how much in the way of fossil fuels are used to ship said craft beers, and to operate the machinery which does things like pick the hops.
Regardless, these people are like flat earthers, always expecting the Earth to stay exactly the same at all times.

Don’t misunderstand, I support the use and expansion of alternatives, and definitely more than lots of Warmists/enviroweenies, since they support them in theory, but, there’s always some reason they do not support when being deployed. But, they seem to be driving up the price of energy, as Michael Shellenberger points out
If Solar And Wind Are So Cheap, Why Are They Making Electricity So Expensive?
Over the last year, the media have published story after story after storyabout the declining price of solar panels and wind turbines.
People who read these stories are understandably left with the impression that the more solar and wind energy we produce, the lower electricity prices will become.
And yet that’s not what’s happening. In fact, it’s the opposite.
Between 2009 and 2017, the price of solar panels per watt declined by 75 percent while the price of wind turbines per watt declined by 50 percent.
And yet — during the same period — the price of electricity in places that deployed significant quantities of renewables increased dramatically.
Shellenberger goes through the facts and figures, and I’ll leave that up to you to read it all. But, it’s not from the price of nuclear, coal, natural gas, and other tried and true, reliable energy sources rising. Nor the closure of nuclear plants. So, why?
In a paper for Energy Policy, Leon Hirth estimated that the economic value of wind and solar would decline significantly as they become a larger part of electricity supply.
The reason? Their fundamentally unreliable nature. Both solar and wind produce too much energy when societies don’t need it, and not enough when they do.
Solar and wind thus require that natural gas plants, hydro-electric dams, batteries or some other form of reliable power be ready at a moment’s notice to start churning out electricity when the wind stops blowing and the sun stops shining.
And that’s what’s happened. Many of these places pay others to take the unnecessary energy from wind and solar.
In 2017, the share of electricity coming from wind and solar was 53 percent in Denmark, 26 percent in Germany, and 23 percent in California. Denmark and Germany have the first and second most expensive electricity in Europe.
Food for thought.
