Salon Does Ivanka’s Hair, “Inclusive” Crowd Freaks OUt

This is the problem when all politics are as personal as being naked

(Fox News) An Iowa salon received major social media backlash this week after posting a photo of Ivanka Trump when she visited the store to get her hair styled before an event.

Salon Spa W, in Des Moines’ East Village, posted a picture Monday on its Facebook page of the first daughter, who was in town to tour Waukee school district’s Aspiring Professional Experience program (APEX), with Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, the Des Moines Register reported. Reynolds was standing next to Trump in the photograph.

“Our Monday kicked off with styling Ivanka Trump for her visit to Iowa! We [love] supporting women in politics,” the salon wrote in a caption on Facebook, which has since been edited.

Despite the salon’s excitement, hundreds of followers lambasted the business for styling the White House adviser and threatened to never return. Some people said the photo was “f—ing gross” and vowed to unfollow the page.

The response was totally unhinged. Seriously, people, she got her hair done. Why is it necessary to pitch a Hissy Fit over such tiny things? Oh, right, Victimhood Culture. Anyhow

Another Facebook user commented, “Will never book an appointment at this salon again. Total bum out. This salon employs hetero/non-hetero individuals and this just truly sucks. The fact that Salon Spa W was inclusive was always a big A + to me. You put your money where your mouth is as your vote. I loved this salon. I’m so, so disappointed and I can’t imagine how your non-cisgender employees/clients feel. Fail. Won’t ever be back.”

By “inclusive”, the inclusive crowd means only things and people they approve of.

‘Climate Change’ Will Not Make Us Nicer Or Something

In fact, Warmists are saying that these tiny temperature increases are “frightening”

CLIMATE CHANGE WILL NOT MAKE US NICER

….

More than two centuries after Montesquieu, the notion that climate molds character is getting some support from modern science. A report published in November in the journal Nature Human Behaviour claimed that ambient temperature (that is, the temperature of the surrounding environment) is a “crucial” factor associated with an individual’s personality. The paper—by a team of psychologists based in China, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States—found that, compared to people who grew up in areas with more extreme temperatures,

individuals who grew up in regions with more clement temperatures (that is, closer to 22°C) scored higher on personality factors related to socialization and stability (agreeableness, conscientiousness, and emotional stability) and personal growth and plasticity (extraversion and openness to experience).

The report concluded that as global climate change continues, “we may also observe concomitant changes in human personality,” with the caveat that the extent of such changes “await[s] future investigation.”

In other words, everyone will be nicer because pleasant weather will allow us to go outside and be social. But, hey, nice, pleasant weather where you can take your loved ones out for a wonderful lunch just to be with them is a Bad Thing

It’s tantalizing to think that climate change could smooth out our personal rough spots, or that rising temperatures will gradually turn gruff New Englanders into laid-back Californians. But don’t count on it. Rentfrow is careful to qualify the report’s prediction of possible personality impacts. “Any changes that might happen as a result of climate change would probably end up being over generations,” he said. And perhaps more significantly, “not all places are going to become warmer,” he added. “Some places will experience harsher winters, while others get hotter and drier.”

Good grief.

This is why Bushman finds the implications of the research not at all cheery, but “frightening.” He wrote in an email, “As climate change makes temperatures more extreme, people should become less sociable.” His own research predicts that global warming will increase crime, on the theory that living at lower temperatures, with more seasonal variation, requires groups to focus on the future and exercise more self-control, which in turn inhibits aggression and violence. (snip)

The Inuit are now on the front lines of a warming world, but before long, even the agreeable, extraverted folks in more temperate zones will find it impossible to ignore. Climate change, then, is more than a mood booster or anger trigger: It’s “a real transformation in society and culture,” Mathews warns. “The future is going to be radically strange.”

Gun Grabbers: Say, Let’s Let Government Have All Your On-Line Info To Stop Guns

You have to love the gun grabbers: they’re happy to blow off the 4th Amendment as they assault the 2nd. Here’s Charlie Kirk and John Chachas losing their minds in the USA Today

Parkland shooting spurs information age solutions for gun violence
Big data already knows everything about us, so couldn’t it have stopped Nikolas Cruz’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School slaughter in Parkland?

When you call your favorite Chinese take-out today you usually are addressed by name; asked if you have the same address when you placed your last order in November and if you want “the usual with extra soy sauce and four spring rolls?” Similar questions from your favorite pizza joint. When you dial into your airline from your mobile phone, the automated system asks, “Welcome back, John, where are you traveling today?”

Virtually every piece of your personal, health, financial and travel data, even beer preferences are available to somebody somewhere. So much for the individual right of privacy and personal freedom, the erosion of which essentially began in 1946 with the invention of the ENIAC computer.

And given the national gun debate raging in America with all manner of suggestions such as armed teachers, metal detectors in schools and churches — can metal detectors and armed guards at McDonald’s be far behind? — it is time for Congress to move into the 21st century and require the harnessing of integrated data to better equip American law enforcement.

No. We’re stupid enough to give up a lot of this data, and sometimes the companies take it, but, quite frankly, I do not care if Chilis knows that I prefer the Ranchero Chicken Tacos with potato soup, and to put the bacon, cheese, and onions on the side rather than mixing them. Or, if I get the burger, same with the soup, and do not put mustard on the burger (makes me break out, plus hate mustard). This is none of Government’s business. Literally. It’s not the Government’s job to have access to this information without a warrant. They have no need to know if I drive down to the beach, nor if I go to the gun range to shoot off a couple hundred rounds.

We are both lifelong conservative Republicans and gun owners. We live in a remarkable age of information and in the interest of young people, we need to turn the national conversation to procedures that might have helped avert recent tragedies.

We are neither gun proponents, nor gun control zealots.

Having said that we must allow authorities to have available knowledge about excess purchases of weapons and ammunition; knowledge about persons with mental illness or at-risk behavior; and the intersection of these categories in a manner that offers tools for law enforcement to intervene.

The Chinese take-out, the pizza restaurant, airlines, the credit card companies, Google, Amazon, iTunes and every other American enterprise has moved forward voluntarily utilizing such data.

It is now time for Congress and policy makers to retire the worthless empty phrase “common sense gun laws” and equally worthless “Gun Show Loophole” and actually pass meaningful legislation. Millennials and kids are at risk so enough of the vapid talk.

Well, first you’ll have to do away with the whole 4th Amendment thingy. If you were truly “conservative Republicans” you’d know this. Let’s look at their specific proposal

  • Establish a central data base at the FBI and Department of Homeland Security for future gun purchases to take effect upon enactment of legislation.
  • The statute would mandate that before the purchase of any gun or ammunition, the buyer must present a valid state driver’s license or a U.S. passport and a social security number. Furthermore, every purchase must be by credit card — not by cash or trade-in.
  • Any party that purchases more than one gun or three 24-round boxes of ammunition within the same calendar week will be flagged by the database for further review.
  • Flagged buyers shall, following further review, be subject to additional data scrutiny including readily available public information on traffic violations, reports of domestic violence, public intoxication from drugs or alcohol, postings on social media, obituary notices, employment terminations and the like. This additional review will be established by the FBI and Homeland Security with appropriate help from Silicon Valley creating a “risk scoring” of data associated with flagged persons.
  • Cross references will highlight concerns raised about a person’s health status, treatment or behavior combined with flags for multiple purchases of firearms or ammunition.

They’re proposal sounds more like a gun banner’s delight, along with being Big Progressive (nice Fascist) Government watching your every move.

Border Patrol Turns Tables On California, Refuses To Hand Over Wanted Illegal Alien With Felony Warrants

The police in California are probably outraged that Donald Trump’s government is refusing to cooperate, because resistance is only good when it’s Leftists doing #resist

(Daily Caller) Border patrol agents are refusing to hand over illegal immigrants with felony warrants to police in California because they can’t be sure local authorities will return the criminal aliens to federal custody, according to a top border security official in San Diego.

Rodney Scott, the chief patrol agent in the Border Patrol’s San Diego Sector, said earlier this month that California’s statewide sanctuary law was undermining normal cooperation between his agency and local law enforcement.

In a little-reported declaration in support of the Department of Justice’s March 6 lawsuit against California, Scott recalled multiple instances in which a Border Patrol agent in the San Diego sector determined that releasing a criminal alien to a local law enforcement would likely result in the person being released without notification to federal authorities.

“In each instance, the Border Patrol Agent determined it was not appropriate, consistent with his or her federal responsibilities to ensure the enforcement of immigration law, to release a criminal alien to the state and local law enforcement,” Scott said in a court declaration. “This was because, although the alien was subject to removal, if released to California law enforcement, the alien would ultimately be released into the public.”

Scott’s declaration, first reported March 19 by a local San Diego nonprofit news outlet, blamed the decisions on the California Values Act, the sanctuary state law that went into effect at the beginning of 2018. Also known as SB 54, the law sharply restricts communication between local police and federal immigration authorities, including about when criminal aliens are going to be released from local jails.

It is pretty bad when federal law enforcement refuses to cooperate with state and local law enforcement because state and local law enforcement are working under laws and rules that are contradictory to federal law, reasonable behavior, and pro-criminal. California state and local laws/rules have made it harder for federal law enforcement to do their lawful jobs, things like going after child smugglers, narcotics smugglers, and gun runners.

Meanwhile

Three illegal immigrants, who avoided capture after Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf blew the whistle on a raid by federal immigration authorities last month, have since been re-arrested for new crimes including robbery and spousal abuse, ICE officials said.

Schaaf tweeted out a warning ahead of the raid in northern California last month, infuriating Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials and the Trump administration. (snip)

One was a Mexican national arrested for robbery and gun crimes, who was released back into the community for a prior offense despite an ICE detainer request in November.

Another Mexican national was arrested for a DUI, despite having been deported three times and prior convictions for false imprisonment, DUI and battery of a spouse.

The third was a Mexican national who was arrested for corporal injury of a spouse, despite being deported twice and criminal convictions including drug possession, hit-and-run, DUIs, possessions of narcotics equipment and a parole violation.

These are the types of people Democrats in California are protecting.

UK’s Favorite “Foods” At Risk From ‘Climate Change” Or Something

The UK just went through a harsh winter with lots of snow and ice and cold and stuff, so, of course the Cult of Climastrology has to attempt to scaremonger

Fish and chips to curry: UK’s favourite dishes at risk from climate change, research shows

Some of the UK’s best-loved dishes – including fish and chips and chicken tikka masala – could be under threat as a result of climate change, environmentalists warn in a new report on Tuesday.

Warmer seas could see populations of cod – long the staple in fish and chips – replaced by lesser-known substitutes, leading to an “anchovies and chips” fish supper as soon as 2050, the environmental charity WWF said.

Research commissioned for Earth Hour, the world’s largest event to protect the planet, found that these and other favourites including the cheese ploughman’s platter and lamb cawl (Welsh lamb stew) may taste different and cost more in the future. Crucially, climate change could threaten the supply of the key ingredients in these dishes, leading to substitutes.

Have you ever noticed that stories like this never seem to include facts, such as, I don’t know, how much warmer the British seas are right now vs say 100 years ago?

To mark Earth Hour, which starts at 8.30pm on Saturday 24 March, WWF is urging people to make promises to change their life in one small way to help the environment, such as refusing plastic cutlery, carrying a refillable cup or cutting back on meat.

Pathetic. Oh, and then there is bat shit crazy at the same paper

Surprise: Government Failed On Firearms Background Checks

But, hey, there would be no problem with government following and implementing all sorts of new gun grabbing regulations, right?

Dozens of gun permits issued without background checks in N.J. town

The Carteret Police Department may have issued more than three dozens gun permits over the past two years without running background checks on the buyers and, in five of those cases, authorities are trying to pull owners’ permits.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the investigation Monday and said it has found that 38 possible permits or firearms purchaser identification cards were issued since 2015 without a complete review, including a check of mental health or criminal records.

The prosecutor’s office has also filed a motion in Superior Court to revoke the permits in five cases where there are “serious statutory” issues, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey said.

It was unclear how many background checks were done in total over that time.

Well, I’m sure it’s the fault of the gun.

In New Jersey, local police departments are responsible for vetting applicants seeking firearms ID cards and handgun purchase permits by contacting references and checking mental health status. Police then submit their information to the State Police for a formal background check.

The question not answered in this article is whether these people passed the NICS background check to start. Certainly, we see that the police failed to do all the draconian governmental checks meant to make it a lot harder for people to exercise their 2nd Amendment Right.

EPA Will Soon End Use Of “Secret Science” To Justify Regulations

It’s not just ‘climate change’ regulations that will be effected, because the EPA has been using secret science to manufacture mission creep and “regulations for the sake of regulations” regulations all over the place

(Daily Caller) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt will soon end his agency’s use of “secret science” to craft regulations.

“We need to make sure their data and methodology are published as part of the record,” Pruitt said in an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation. “Otherwise, it’s not transparent. It’s not objectively measured, and that’s important.”

Pruitt will reverse long-standing EPA policy allowing regulators to rely on non-public scientific data in crafting rules. Such studies have been used to justify tens of billions of dollars worth of regulations.

EPA regulators would only be allowed to consider scientific studies that make their data available for public scrutiny under Pruitt’s new policy. Also, EPA-funded studies would need to make all their data public.

“When we do contract that science out, sometimes the findings are published; we make that part of our rule-making processes, but then we don’t publish the methodology and data that went into those findings because the third party who did the study won’t give it to us,” Pruitt added.

This will definitely make Warmists very upset, since the majority of all they fearmonger about is based on secret science.

Democrats and environmentalists have largely opposed attempts to require EPA rely on transparent scientific data. Said data would restrict the amount of studies EPA can use, but a major objection is making data public would reveal confidential patient data, opponents argue.

“A lot of the data that EPA uses to protect public health and ensure that we have clean air and clean water relies on data that cannot be publicly released,” Union of Concerned Scientists representative Yogin Kothari told E&E News.

“It really hamstrings the ability of the EPA to do anything, to fulfill its mission,” Kothari said.

Mule fritters. If you can’t justify government regulations by showing the full studies, data, methodology, etc, if you’re hiding this from the American People, then they should be disallowed. Especially since these studies are paid for with taxpayer money. We aren’t here for government: they work for us. Government should be transparent.

Town Votes To Opt-Out Of Being Part Of California Sanctuary Law

So far, there has been no response from the state, Gov. Jerry Brown, or other illegal alien supporting Democrats. That’s sure to come, especially since the city council went one step further

(OC Register) Orange County’s second-smallest city voted Monday night to exempt itself from California’s so-called sanctuary law, which limits cooperation between local agencies and federal immigration authorities.

The Los Alamitos City Council voted 4-1 following more than two hours of heated testimony from residents on both sides of the issue. (snip)

(Councilman Warren) Kusumoto said the issue was not about immigration.

“This council is looking out for the constituents in our city,” Kusumoto said.

Mayor Troy Edgar said he hoped mayors in other cities consider similar local legislation. And his message was clear: “As the mayor of Los Alamitos, we are not a sanctuary city.”

The council went one step further. The majority also voted to direct the city attorney to write an amicus brief to a federal lawsuit filed earlier this month against California, alleging that three of the state’s laws are unconstitutional. One of those laws was the same one the Los Alamitos council looks to opt-out of:  the “California Values Act,” which limits cooperation between law enforcement agencies and federal immigration authorities.

That last bit should certainly catch the attention of the illegal alien loving Democrats.

There was lots of interesting talk. Like this Rabbi who conflates legal immigration with law breakers, as illegal alien lovers love to do

“There’s been a real shift to a national, xenophobic acceptability in our society that is heartbreaking,” said Rabbi Jonathan Klein, executive director of the Clergy & Laity United for Economic Justice group. “We’re in an era of open bigotry.”

Someone needs cheap labor to cut the laws.

One long-time resident, Javier Mejia, choked up as he described that he’s proud of his Mexican heritage but is “100 percent American.” He urged the council to vote for the proposed ordinance.

In other words, he came here legally. We’re glad to have you, Javier, and call you American

And from CBS LA

“We want people deported, simply because they’re here illegally,” another man said.

It’s a very simple concept. Illegal alien supporters have to come up with all sorts of wild, irrational, juvenile reasons for why they want illegals

“We are here to stand up to the Trump agenda. It starts in the city councils. It starts in these meetings that traditionally have no transparency,” said Tim Phan of the Young Democrats.

And Trump Derangement Syndrome is on display.

The ordinance does have to go to a second vote for validation, scheduled for April 16.
