EDITORIAL: The carbon tax cover up continues

It’s not rocket science. At least it shouldn’t be. Although the way the Liberals are acting you’d think it’s a superhuman feat to disclose how much carbon taxes are going to ding the average Canadian family.

On Thursday evening, the Conservatives used the legislative tools at their disposal to keep MPs around late into the night to vote on a motion that would see the Liberals release a needlessly secret report that gives up the carbon tax goods.

Back in 2015 bureaucrats at the federal finance department calculated how much a federal carbon tax levy was going to cost.

Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre recently filed an access to information request to receive the document. But when he got it, the pertinent information was blacked out. The data was redacted.

Poilievre is now challenging this, with the Office of the Information Commissioner investigating whether the Liberals in fact broke access to information laws by failing to disclose the data.

You’d think if they’re such proponents of the carbon tax, then they’d be all gung ho to talk about it and all of its details. The truth though is that carbon tax fans never want to discuss the costs. Because they know how high they are and they know this will turn the people off of them.

This is scandalous. The people have a right to know.

But, the Warmists do not want you to know the results of their carbon taxes/fees. They do not want you to know where the money is going. They do not want you to know about the artificial rise in the cost of living. They do not want you to know about how this hurts the economy. They really, really like their slush funds and empowered government control.

There are a number of estimates out there from private and academic sources. The lowest of them suggests families will pay around $600 per year on average. It could be more.

They do not want Canadians to know.

TV Weathercasters Unite To Push ‘Climate Change’ (scam) Or Something

I wonder how much electricity is used to broadcast the weather?

TV Meteorologists Unite For Climate Change On The Summer Solstice

Surprisingly, there are a small percentage of TV meteorologists that express skepticism on climate change. The American Meteorological Society (AMS), George Mason University, and others have studied the reasons why, and I will say more about that later. This is particularly worrisome because TV meteorologists are the only scientists the average public citizen will see on a daily basis. Many people, myself included, recognize that TV colleagues, though only about 8% of the meteorology field according to the AMS, are great sources for climate change news and education. And by the way, the majority of the public thinks that every meteorologist is on TV anyhow (smile). Every meteorologist that I know, irrespective of the sector of the field they work, has gotten this question, “So what channel are you on?”

On the June 21, 2018 Summer Solstice, over 100 meteorologists will wear an item of clothing like the tie below. The effort is called #MetsUnite. Keep reading for what the pattern on the tie indicates.

Why is this effort needed? Isn’t it a “no brainer” that anyone that studies weather would understand that climate change is a challenge? As a former president of the American Meteorological Society and in many discussions with broadcast meteorologists on all sides of the ledger, I have gained some valuable insight on why there is variance in the perspectives of broadcast meteorology community.

And why are they doing it when it’s hot outside? Which happens in the Northern Hemisphere at this time of year?

Specifically for this initiative it was my idea! I saw Ed Hawkins Warming Stripes pattern and the simplicity resonated with me. It is our job as meteorologists and station scientists to explain weather and climate in simple, memorable terms. This pattern could not be more simple… red for warmer than normal, blue for cooler than normal from 1850 to 2017. Plus the pattern looked like it could be a nifty tie… in a weather geek sort of way. So I quickly organized this initiative and Climate Central jumped in to offer support. They are a great organization as you know and we are all working together towards the same goal, climate change awareness. We discussed various aspects of the initiative. This Wednesday they will send out a supplementary email with info/ graphics for “Meteorologists United on Climate Change” which will be this Thursday June 21st, the summer solstice. #MetsUnite

It’s a manufactured representation meant to scare people into allowing themselves to be taxed out the ying yang, see their cost of living skyrocket, and have the government restrict their freedom. It is beyond disingenuous, as the comparison is for what they consider “average”, but misses that most years prior to that average, taken from 1960-1990, will be slightly cooler. The Little Ice Age ended in 1850, and there were several periods where the temperatures spiked throughout the Modern Warm Period, and a few pauses. But, always, the trend has been slightly up. But, an increase of 1.5F since 1850 is minor. No big deal. But, they have to keep push push pushing to keep their cult going.

And it’s still not proof that this is mostly/solely caused by Mankind’s output of CO2.

Feinstein, Democrats Offer Child Separation Fix That Has Unintended(?) Consequences

Obviously, the Democrats are using the separation of illegal alien kids as a wedge issue going into the 2018 mid-terms. They sure didn’t care when the same was being done quietly under Obama, such as when the media took a tour of a facility back in 2014

The media doesn’t want you to see things like that. But, now, Dems and their pet media are Concerned. Because it also helps deflect from the potential denuclearizing of North Korea and the Inspector General report on FBI misconduct. And now we get

Report: Diane Feinstein’s Immigration Bill Would Prevent Almost Every Federal Arrest

Every single Senate Democrat has backed a bill by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) that would effectively prevent authorities from arresting illegal aliens within 100 miles of the U.S. border.

In the words of moderate Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, Feinstein’s “Keep Families Together Act” would “essentially prevent arrest within 100 miles of the border, even if the person has committed a serious crime or is suspected of terrorist activities.”

For that reason, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) has called Feinstein’s bill the “Child Trafficking Encouragement Act,” since it would create incentives for illegal aliens to cross the border with children to evade arrest by authorities.

If you’ve lost super-squish Collins, you’ve lost all Republicans.

A new analysis by Gabriel Malor of The Federalist points out an additional problem: thanks, he says, to sloppy drafting, the bill would effectively prevent federal law enforcement from arresting anyone in most of the U.S.

Every Senate Democrat has now signed on to cosponsor a bill written so carelessly that it does not distinguish between migrant children at the border and U.S. citizen children already within the United States. The bill further does not distinguish between federal officers handling the border crisis and federal law enforcement pursuing the ordinary course of their duties.

With the GOP in control of the Senate, there’s no way this passes, and will most likely never make it out of committee (Mitch McConnell would actually be wise in bringing it to the floor quickly, putting Democrats on record as supporting this abomination).

But, really, Democrats do not want it passed. Sure, there’s a possibility that this was just a poorly crafted piece of legislation put together in a hurry. Most likely, they know exactly what’s in it, and will grandstand on it. They know the finer nuances of the legislation will not be explained in the media, and that most people will only see that it stops the separation.

Schumer doesn’t want the duly elected legislative branch to debate and pass law. Weird, eh?

Mom’s Demand Blames Guns And NRA For Shooting At Trenton Art Show

Let’s see: we have a bunch of gang-bangers, who weren’t legally allowed to own any firearms, one of whom had a history of violence and should have still been in jail for his felonies. You have an art showing going on at 3am in one of the really bad neighborhoods of Trenton, NJ (I compared the location to the Neighborhood Scout map). So, guess who this Mom’s Demand member, who surely doesn’t actually live in the neighborhood, blames?

Thoughts from a survivor – and gun control advocate – of Art All Night shooting

The irony of the night was not lost on Fran Carroll. Having spent four hours asking Art All Night attendees to “imagine a world without gun violence,” Carroll — a volunteer for Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense — no longer can. Carroll was present early Sunday morning when gunmen started shooting at the state’s largest arts festival.

“I have now experienced firsthand the terror of an active shooting situation,” said Carroll, in between bouts of tears. “Of running with a stampede of people, pushing and shoving. Of taking shelter behind a thin wood wall that I knew wouldn’t stop a bullet, wondering where else I could hide, should we crouch behind that stack of tables? Not knowing if it was safe to run outside with most of the crowd because we had no idea where the gunman – gunmen? – was.”

Prior to 2:45 a.m. and her shift which started at 11 p.m., Carroll, who lives in Hamilton, spent several hours at the arts festival with a fellow Moms Demand Action volunteer admiring the art festival’s offerings.

Hamilton Township abuts Trenton, and is actually pretty safe. They also do not seem to like black people, being 67% white.

Having joined in February — just days before the Parkland, Florida shooting — Carroll is new to Moms Demand Action. But, the mom of three teens is not new to the issue of gun violence. She has been a proponent of stricter gun control for many years.

“It has pissed me off quite frankly that we as a country, as a whole, don’t seem to be willing to face this issue head-on, don’t seem to be able to do anything about it,” Carroll said. “Other countries have. It kills me that people say, ‘Oh, there’s nothing we can do,’ or ‘The gun culture is so pervasive and we have the Second Amendment.’ There are things that can be done. Look at Australia — that is the model. They had this horrible mass shooting and they collectively decided that this is not who we want to be and they we are better than this. And here, nobody wants to do anything — and it’s because of the money. Because of the NRA and their lobbying. In my opinion, they are not about the second amendment and gun rights. They are lobbyists for gun manufacturers who are making lots of money selling these weapons and the ammunition. They have bought and sold Congress. It’s maddening to me that not enough people, including our elected officials, won’t stand up and say, ‘No, enough.’ It’s an uphill battle for sure, but we have got to do something. We need an army of people — not with guns —but with voices and their pens and their vote.”

New Jersey is one of the strictest states on limiting the 2nd Amendment Rights of law abiding citizens, and literally just enacted six more laws that mostly effect law abiding citizens. Virtually everything the gun grabbers in groups like Mom’s Demand has been passed. Other than straight up banning and confiscation, what more does Carroll want?

Notice that she doesn’t blame criminals, gangs, letting violent criminals out of jail early, a bad criminal justice system, etc. No, she blames the NRA and the law abiding citizens who are members. She spouts talking points from Mom’s Demand about them being lobbyists for gun manufacturers, which is a lie. And, again, none of the gang members shooters were legally eligible to own/possess firearms.

What laws, exactly, are being pushed by Mom’s Demand that would stop gang members from shooting each other, with other citizens being collateral damage? It’s interesting that gang shootings tend to happen the most in areas run by Democrats.

Never Bring A Contractor’s Level To A Sword Fight

Parking dispute gets medieval as men battle with sword, 4-foot level, cops say

A neighborhood parking dispute in Somerset County turned bloody after a man pulled a sword from his car and began slashing at another man who was swinging a 4-foot contractor’s level, authorities said.

The battle unfolded around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the area of Knopf Street and North 9th Avenue in Manville, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

Jared Razzano, 35, the alleged swordsman, faces multiple charges including second-degree aggravated assault and was taken to the Somerset County jail. (snip)

The 40-year-old was carrying a four-foot contractor’s level when the verbal dispute over the parking space near Razzano’s home turned physical, authorities said.

Razzano was struck multiple times with the level, “resulting in several bruises and abrasions to his back, face, arm and leg,” Robertson said.

Razzano then removed a sword from his car and “retaliated by slashing the victim several times with the sword. The slashing caused the victim serious bodily injuries to his head and arm,” Robertson said.

Someone in the NJ.com comments wonder what the 40 year old, who has not been named, and, weirdly, not been charged with anything, was thinking when Razzano pulled out the sword. I’m figuring it was like this

And, this being NJ

In addition to aggravated assault, Razzano faces charges of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

Interesting. The gun-grabbers tell us we should have weapons like when the Bill of Rights was passed, yet, they ban those same weapons.

Shot And Chaser: Angela Merkel Is Bummed About U.S. ‘Climate Change’ (scam) Stance

Merkel says climate change is a fact, laments US stance

German Chancellor Angela Merkel took aim Tuesday at U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris accord, calling the move “very regrettable” at a time when the overwhelming majority of countries worldwide are trying to limit global warming.

“We know climate change isn’t a matter of faith,” she told an international climate meeting in Berlin. “It’s a fact.”

Trump announced last year that the U.S. will pull out of the accord negotiated by his predecessor unless he can “get a better deal.”

Merkel said Germany remains committed to the Paris climate accord fighting global warming but acknowledged that the country still needs to do more to curb emissions, particularly in the transport sector, if it wants to meet its own goals.

The long-time German leader urged the 178 countries that have ratified the 2015 Paris accord to agree by the end of the year on a rulebook for its implementation.

Germany Flops on Climate Change Goals

State-sponsored ventures into renewable energy have hit a wall in Germany, the supposed leader of the war on climate change.

The Associated Press reports that Germany’s environment minister, Svenja Schulze, said that the country will probably not meet its carbon emission reduction goals for 2020. This follows the government’s official decision to abandon these goals in January.

Germany set out to establish itself as a leader in the international fight against man-made climate change by promising to cut carbon emissions by 40 percent by 2020 and up to 95 percent in 2050, relative to 1990 levels. The German government now says it will miss the 2020 target by eight percent.

Oops! This is a reminder that the vast majority of nations that signed on to the Kyoto Protocol failed to achieve their targets, and most did not even come close.

Moving towards cleaner, sustainable energy is certainly a noble goal, but Germany’s attempted green revolution doubled residential energy rates for consumers in the form of greater surcharges. This does little for lower income households who now face much larger electricity bills and much smaller disposable incomes. Furthermore, the higher costs take money away from more productive sectors of the economy, inhibiting innovation and production.

Surprise?

Also, Ireland, which has leadership that has been pushing hard for all sorts of ‘climate change’ garbage is not doing well on their tackling of ‘climate change’ (scam).

Meet Leah Vukmir, a Republican Senate candidate from Wisconsin who wants to bring her conservative know-how to Washington. She would like you to vote for her, and she would like to ask you to vote for her while sitting at a table with a gun placed at her side. Extremely casual.

Vukmir explains in the ad that she received death threats over her policy positions: busting up unions and defunding Planned Parenthood, among others. She will also fight for these things in Washington, she says. Also, a gun.

I’d vote for her. She seems badass. But, you know, she’s the wrong type of woman for the 3rd wave feminists, and she’s literally (Joe Biden style) like Hitler

  • There are three important visuals in this ad: the gun, the kitchen table, and the simple gold cross around her neck. The kitchen table and the plain gold cross (nothing ostentatious!) are like the visual form of those German words that have whole paragraphs of meaning – they are dog whistles that encapsulate all of religious conservatism.

  • A very Handmaid’s Tale vibe going on here. (everything seems to be a Handmaid’s Tale these days)
  • This is the creepiest thing I’ve seen this week, and I started watching The Handmaid’s Tale last night.

People Seem Surprised That An Illegal Alien Was Detained In Hillsborough

Immigration arrest separates Hillsborough family

A Hillsborough teen says she identifies with the immigrant families the U.S. government is separating on the Texas-Mexico border.

Ross Torres Enamorado, 18, watched in horror as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents dragged her father off in handcuffs on April 10.

“It was devastating, so devastating. I couldn’t even comprehend what was going on at the moment. I kind of choked up, I really did,” Enamorado said Monday.

ICE agents said they were looking for a fugitive whose name and photo the family didn’t recognize, she said, but they took her father instead.

Edwin Enamorado, who fled violence in Honduras as a youth, has only a misdemeanor conviction from years ago, his daughter said. He’s now a pastor and works to support his wife and three children, she said.

“I’ve never seen my dad cry in all my life. He’s always been that strong person, and I’ve never seen him cry until that day,” Enamorado said. “It was so horrible. I could hear my baby brother crying. Everyone was crying. … It’s horrible how they can do that every day to a family who’s done nothing wrong to the community.”

Well, her anger and being choked up and stuff should be aimed where it belongs: at her dad.

ICE spokesman Bryan Cox Edwin Enamorado was the target of agents when they went to his home.

“Mr. Enamorado-Aguilar was ordered removed from the U.S. by a federal immigration judge in January 2007, and he has also has a prior criminal conviction from February 1999 in Durham County,” Cox said in a statement. “ICE is focused on removing public safety threats, such as convicted criminal aliens and gang members, as well as individuals who have violated our nation’s immigration laws.”

In other words, he exhausted all his legal options and blew off a judge’s ruling. Can’t do the time? Don’t do the crime.

Ross Enamorado said it’s almost as heartbreaking to see images of children crying after being separated from their parents and sent to detention camps in Texas.

“The United States can’t seem to understand they’re really breaking not only our hearts, they’re really breaking our minds, too,” she said.

We didn’t tell them to come to the U.S. illegally. We have laws against this. What is a nation without borders, and the means to control them, along with the means to determine who can and who can’t come to the country? Why should we import poverty? People who cannot survive without government assistance? People who can’t speak the language, have a limited education, do not seem to want to assimilate, and have limited working skills? And, then demand that we give them stuff, money, healthcare, housing, all while requiring that America change for them.

We didn’t break their hearts. Do we blame America if parents are busted for making meth, and the kids are taken from them? No. Illegal aliens put themselves and their families in this position.
