Eating Now Needs To Be A Political And Spiritual Act Due To ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

There’s nothing that these nutadoodles in the Cult of Climastrology, and the wider Progressive movement, won’t attempt to politicize and ruin

Eating as a political, social, spiritual act: The World Peace Diet

We must believe that we are capable of creating “a place of love and mutual assistance and understanding.” This is how visionary Tim Berners-Lee described the utopianist John Perry Barlow at the time of his death, adding: “I don’t think he was naïve.”

Our current climate change crisis calls for this type of bold, inspiring and transformative action. The book Drawdown, The Most Comprehensive Plan to Reverse Global Warming, put out by Project Drawdown, explains, maps, measures and models solutions that are already in place.

“Drawing down” occurs when we succeed in reducing the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere on a year-to-year basis. This is not a daydream. We are currently achieving this on a small scale. If we scale up these efforts we can reverse global warming. (snip)

Eight of the top 25 actions to achieve this reversal involve food. Each one of us can rethink the food we are producing, eating and wasting. And we can call for more government and industry action to support sustainable food systems.

The World Peace Diet offers one way. This diet encourages mindful eating. Advocates say that many animal-based eaters become so largely because of cultural, social and familial pressures. They argue that it is not necessary to carry on these unexamined and outmoded traditions.

The only thing missing is how they expect this to happen. People won’t do it voluntarily. It would require force of government.

When it comes to food choices, we are encouraged not to examine exploitative relationships with animals or other people. Humans have become ‘rationalizing, ready to disregard science, morals and our well-being, so we can slaughter and consume animals.

These same people are also the ones who support abortion on demand with zero restrictions.

We can choose a non-violent lifestyle. We could choose not to take a life to eat. We could eat an array of nuts, seeds, legumes, fruits and vegetables to meet our nutritional requirements without giving up on taste or satisfaction.

We can ignore tens of millions of years of human evolution, all to “solve” a fake issue.

Iran Goes To International Court Of Justice Claiming U.S. Is Violating Treaty

This takes a big pair of jihadi cajones to make this claim, and they dug seriously deep to find their reasoning

(The Hill) Iran on Monday asked the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to compel the U.S. to lift recently imposed sanctions, arguing the penalties violate an obscure treaty between the two countries.

Reuters reported that Iranian lawyers argued to judges with the United Nations-affiliated court that the U.S. is “plainly in violation of the 1955 Treaty of Amity,” which was agreed upon as part of an effort to emphasize “friendly relations” and “mutually beneficial trade and investments” between the two nations.

“The U.S. is publicly propagating a policy intended to damage as severely as possible Iran’s economy and Iranian national companies, and therefore inevitably Iranian nationals,” Mohsen Mohebi, an attorney representing Iran, told the court.

Reuters reported that the U.S. is scheduled to respond on Tuesday, though the State Department argued in an written statement that Iran’s complaint falls outside the bounds of the treaty and outside of the ICJ’s jurisdiction.

A ruling is expected within a month, Reuters reported.

When the leaders of Iran are leading the chants of “death to America”, I’m not sure the Treaty of Amity applies anymore

TREATY OF AMITY, ECONOMIC RELATIONS, AND CONSULAR
RIGHTS BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES OF
AMERICA AND IRAN

The United States of America and Iran, desirous of emphasizing
the friendly relations which have long prevailed between their
peoples, of reaffirming the high principles in the regulation of
human affairs to which they are committed, of encouraging
mutually beneficial trade and investments and closer economic
intercourse generally between their peoples, and of regulating
consular relations, have resolved to conclude, on the basis of
reciprocal equality of treatment, a Treaty of Amity, Economic
Relations, and Consular Rights, and have appointed as their
Plenipotentiaries: (snip)

Article I

There shall be firm and enduring peace and sincere friendship
between the United States of America and Iran.

I think this rather ended in 1979 when the Shah was deposed, the radical Islamists took over the country, invaded our embassy, and then took our citizens hostage.

Scorching Take: CNN Notes Struggles Terrorist Family Had Living Off The Grid

This is….bad. Really, really bad

Never go Full CNN. The in article headline isn’t any better, and CNN actually did a video segment on this

In New Mexico, where life off the grid is common, compound suspects struggled

The compound was hiding in plain sight, a white smudge in the dusty green expanse of sagebrush and juniper stretching across the Colorado-New Mexico border.

A few feet past a handwritten “no trespassing” sign on the ground, a box truck sat unlocked. Inside, a wooden bunk bed was propped up against the wall, surrounded by piles of dirty clothing and worn-out books. Identity documents were mixed on the floor with children’s math workbooks, self-help guides and gun manuals. A dusty bulletproof vest lay nearby.

It had been two weeks since law enforcement raided lot 78 in Costilla Meadows, a rural subdivision in Amalia, New Mexico, where homes are off the grid and you can see your nearest neighbor miles over the dry grassland. Police found 11 malnourished children there, shoeless and in tattered clothes, and arrested five adults. Days later, they found the remains of the 3-year-old boy they were searching for. (snip)

Individuals from society’s periphery have long sought refuge in this part of the state, where cheap land far from the nearest power line or shopping center is easy to find. The region’s history of welcoming outsiders has contributed to cross-cultural exchanges and a tolerant attitude that locals consider points of pride. Many are quick to distance the state’s countercultural vibe from the compound and its inhabitants, who are accused of training the children to commit mass shootings. But they also fear that the publicity around a case infused with allegations of terrorism, child abuse and faith healing might contribute to a rise in racism and Islamophobia.

It’s a long, long, long piece, which seems to gloss over the child abuse, training kids to be terrorists, etc. Sure, they’re mentioned. Barely. Let Mo break it down, since I saw it first from her tweet

https://twitter.com/molratty/status/1033887218874630149

And CNN wonders why they’re called fake news. Perhaps idiot news would be more correct.

John McCain Dead At Age 81, CNN Provides Possibly The Dumbest Headline

Love him or hate him, John McCain had a tremendous impact on U.S. politics. It wasn’t long after McCain announced that he would no longer be taking treatment for his brain cancer that he passed on. And there are some serious hot-takes. Here’s CNN running with one my anti-favorites

Trump breaks silence on McCain, tweeting his ‘deepest sympathies and respect’

President Donald Trump broke his closely watched silence on Sen. John McCain, tweeting his “deepest sympathies and respect” to the family of the senator after his death was announced on Saturday night.

“My deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of Senator John McCain. Our hearts and prayers are with you!” Trump tweeted.

Prior to his tweet, Trump had not publicly acknowledged the rapidly declining health of McCain after his family announced Friday he would be discontinuing treatment for his brain cancer.

In an email, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders forwarded the President’s tweet to reporters. First lady Melania Trump also tweeted, “Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathy to the McCain Family. Thank you Senator McCain for your service to the nation.”

This whole “breaking silence” thing is absurd. Like people have to tell the media everything, otherwise, they’re being “silent”. Maybe they just didn’t have something to say to media ghouls?

There are also many, many bad takes, such as

Mama always said if you don’t have something nice to say don’t say anything at all.

We’re Saved: Non-Sciency Students Take Long Fossil Fueled Trip To Study ‘Climate Change’

This is a perfect example of why I and so many skeptics maintain that what the Cult of Climastrology is pushing is a bunch of hoo hah: they’re a bunch of hypocrites

UIC Students Set Sail in the Arctic to Study Climate Change

Six students from the University of Illinois at Chicago are starting the fall semester a little early – and a couple thousand miles from campus. They’ve traded their classroom chairs for seats on board a research vessel as part of the Northwest Passage Project.

Working closely with scholars, scientists, historians, journalists and students from a handful of other universities, the UIC group will spend three weeks assisting in the collection of scientific and sociological information as they sail across the Northwest Passage, a northern waterway between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

The students – five undergraduates and one graduate student who are all enrolled in the school’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences – have a range of majors, from biology and psychology to rehabilitation sciences and communication. In other words, being a future scientist was not a requirement for participation.

In other words, this is about politics, not science. These students are first taking fossil fueled vehicles to the airport, then a fossil fueled flight, then some sort of fossil fueled vehicles from the airport to the ship, then traveling on a fossil fueled trip.

“The aim of the participation of the undergrad student is not for them to become scientists. It’s for them to become informed citizens,” said Miquel Gonzalez-Meler, a professor of biological sciences at UIC who is involved with the project. “When they’re hopefully the new generation of doctors and psychologists and health professionals and social professionals and so forth, they will have the experience with them that probably can empower them to talk about these issues.”

This isn’t science. They could be “informed” without all the climahypocrisy.

The expedition will make several stops along the way so students can visit native Inuit villages and also study the lives of area residents.

Don’t even get me started on them treating these Inuit like simple study subjects. Rather bigoted of them.

Illegal Alien Who Murdered Mollie Tibbetts Doesn’t Want To Be Called Illegal

This is insane

(Daily Caller) The attorney for the accused murderer of Mollie Tibbetts filed a gag order on Wednesday to prevent his client from being referred to as an illegal alien.

The defendant, 24-year-old Christian Bahena Rivera, has been charged with first degree murder for the slaying of Iowa college student Tibbetts. Rivera led investigators to the Tibbetts’ body in a cornfield after he admitted that he followed her while she was running. (snip)

The gag order purports that by referring to Rivera as illegal, he will be denied a fair trial, and consequently, the government must not refer to him as anything other than a “documented resident.”

This does only apply to how the government describes him. The Credentialed Media is mostly happy to play along. That said, the NY Times runs an interesting piece delving into who Rivera is, strangely well done and with facts, which includes

His lawyer, Allan M. Richards, said Mr. Bahena Rivera had been a law-abiding employee since arriving in the United States. “He’s here living the American dream and working seven days a week, 12 hours a day, and trying to do his best at his job,” Mr. Richards said. He said Mr. Bahena Rivera’s family members were not yet willing to speak publicly.

Federal officials said they have no record of Mr. Bahena Rivera entering the country legally and said that he appeared to have used false documents to obtain employment.

Mr. Lang (owner of the farm where Rivera worked) said Mr. Bahena Rivera had been hired at the farm in August 2014 after presenting a valid Social Security number, which was checked with a federal database, and a state-issued identification card. The new employee was known around town as Cristhian Bahena Rivera, but around the farm by the fraudulent name listed on those documents, a name the authorities did not disclose.

Perhaps Mr. Richards could tell us just how Rivera came to live in the U.S. in what he says is a legal manner making him “documented”. And explain the use of false documents.

Because You Use Straws, ‘Climate Change’ Is Creating A New Breed Of Hurricanes

The hurricane season has been rather quiet this year, especially in the Atlantic, so, of the course the Warmists are back to their “rare but stronger meme”

How Climate Change Is Creating A New Breed Of Hurricane
Climate change is warming our oceans, and that thermal energy is fueling stronger hurricanes.

A Category 3 hurricane is currently barrelling across the Pacific toward the Hawaiian islands. The storm, known as hurricane Lane, is expected to batter the Hawaiian islands with 120 mile-per-hour winds and enough rain to trigger flash floods and landslides. In both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, hurricanes are becoming more intense as a result of climate change. Hurricanes are fueled by warm water, which is becoming more widespread as greenhouse gasses continue to trap heat in the atmosphere.

Both hurricane strength and average sea surface temperature have increased significantly over the last century. Although hurricanes can be influenced by wind, humidity and other factors, the majority of scientists agree that warming oceans are the primary cause of the rise in hurricane strength.

Hurricanes form when evaporating sea water transfers thermal energy from the ocean’s surface to the upper atmosphere. The upward movement of warm, moist air creates a pressure vacuum that fuels strong circular winds. When that warm air reaches the atmosphere it condenses, forming storm clouds.

As climate change increases global sea surface temperatures, the strength of seasonal hurricanes is expected to increase. This means more catastrophic hurricanes may soon be on the
horizon.

Aaaaaaand, that’s it. That’s the whole argument for a “new breed of hurricane” at a website called “Inside Science.” First off, they can’t really prove that the current warming is mostly/solely caused by Mankind. Second, hurricanes are not becoming more intense. Third, the overall surface temperature has only gone up 1.5F since 1850. That’s not significant. Fourth, there’s no true way to know that sea temperatures and hurricane strength have increased significantly, because the further back you go in the 20th Century the fewer the data points. Prior to the satellite area, if no one saw it, it really didn’t exist, nor did the temps get measure all over.

Finally, these people are just fearmongering, because that’s what they do. Then they congratulate themselves for Being Brave in writing this, say How Proud They Are Of Themselves for speaking truth to power, then jump in their fossil fueled vehicles to go get a burger. And this was all brought on for writer Annie Roth because a hurricane was barreling towards Hawaii, something that seems to happen every 30 years or so.
