Small Islands Have Big Voices On ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

No worries, they’ll all be submerged soon. Heck, some are submerged now!

Heck, we were told 30 years ago that the Maldives would be submerged by now. 100% of them are not. Nor is Manhattan, as we were told over 20 years ago. From the article

On the map, their homes are tiny specks in a vast sea of blue, rarely in the headlines and far removed from the centers of power. But for a few days each year, the leaders of small island nations share a podium with presidents and prime ministers from the world’s most powerful nations, and their message is clear: Global warming is already changing our lives, and it will change yours too.

Speaking shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump — whose fiery speech made no mention of climate change — Danny Faure told the U.N. General Assembly this week that for his country, the Seychelles, it’s already a daily reality.

“We see its effects in our eroding coastlines and unpredictable weather patterns,” he said. “We see its effects on our coral reefs and rising sea levels.”

Well, perhaps he shouldn’t have taken a long fossil fueled trip.

Despite its minuscule carbon emissions, Heine said her nation wants to show it, too, is prepared to do its part. The country is aiming to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, a goal most climate experts consider an absolute deadline if the world is to avert runaway warming of more than 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 Fahrenheit) by the end of the century.

They’ll have to give up pretty much everything to achieve this

Seychelles’ main industries include tourism, fishing, farming, oil drilling and manufacturing. Most manufacturers are small-scale and consist largely of food processing plants. The manufacture of beer, cigarettes, chemicals and furniture, among other items, also plays a significant role within the sector.

Tourism relies on fossil fuels. Oh, hey, oil drilling. Fishing with fossil fueled boats. Furniture to be exported using fossil fuels.

Marshall Islanders know the future of their country, much of which is little over a meter (3.3 feet) above sea level, hangs in the balance. A recent report predicted that the world’s oceans will rise by an average of at least 2 feet (61 centimeters) by the end of the century compared to now. Experts say the actions of the United States, which Trump announced will pull out of the Paris agreement, could play a decisive role in the future of small islands.

Some officials warn that islanders may have to abandon their homes long before they sink beneath the waves, as the cost of rebuilding after every storm surge becomes too great.

Perhaps it’s not a good idea to live on islands that are 3.3 feet above sea level, which rises an average of 8 inches per century over the last 7,000-8,000 years, post giant sea rise from the end of the last glacial age. But, um, the islands mostly couldn’t be created without much higher sea levels, because coral doesn’t grow like that above the sea.

At some point the Cult of Climastrology will fade away.

Hot Takes: Kavanaugh Haters Say Supreme Court Will Be Destroyed If Confirmed

One of the talking points post-hearings about Brett Kavanaugh was that if he was confirmed to the Supreme Court there would be a pall hanging over his head and every single one of his decisions. Now, we’re getting that the court itself will be diminished. Why? Because these people are unhinged, and their hatred of Donald Trump blinds them, puts them off the rails, and has them taking out their irrational, seething hatred on a good man like Brett Kavanaugh. We’ll start with Virginia Heffernan at the LA Times

If Kavanaugh is confirmed, the Supreme Court will lose its magic power: prestige

The Supreme Court must serve without benefit of what Alexander Hamilton called “the sword or the purse.” Its nine justices don’t carry guns; they don’t command an army to enforce their rulings. They also lack any kind of slush fund to buy influence or pay off pests like porn stars.

Instead of might or money, the court’s authority is grounded in an elusive but indispensable quality: prestige. Without prestige, the Supreme Court is a fancy-dress show whose rulings won’t even bind the lower courts.

If Judge Brett Kavanaugh is confirmed to the Supreme Court after his hurdy-gurdy self-pity jamboree before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday, the prestige of the court will take a hard hit. It won’t command the respect it requires in a nation that claims to have, in the words of John Adams, “a government of laws and not of men.”

As you see from the first paragraph, this is all about Trump. She attempts to make her case, but, she’s just slinging moonbat word salad. Then there’s Molly Ball and Tessa Berenson at Time

Brett Kavanaugh’s Confirmation Fight Exposes Major Problems With the Nation’s Most Powerful Court

For the Supreme Court, the stakes go beyond Kavanaugh’s fate. It’s the latest evolution of a nominally non-partisan institution into an instrument of politics. In a nation divided, left and right are coming to view the court less as an interpreter of the law than as an activist imposer of moral and political outcomes. “It’s no coincidence that confirmations were less contentious when the court was engaging in less political decisionmaking,” says Leonard Leo, a top adviser to President Trump on judicial nominations. “When the court injects itself into lots of things that it shouldn’t, and when there’s lots of overreach by the court, that’s an inevitable thing.”

Funny how we didn’t read this same thing when Obama was nominating hardcore Progressives in Sonia Sotomayor and Elana Kagin. And then we move on to Excitable Jennifer Rubin, who’s TDS has exposed that she is in no way a Republican

If we want to protect the Supreme Court’s legitimacy, Kavanaugh should not be on it

However, here I want to focus on what may be the most significant issue — whether Kavanaugh’s “big reveal” that he is an angry partisan who thinks Democrats conspired to get him — now disqualifies him to sit on any court, let alone the Supreme Court.

No need to go further. It’s all about the TDS. Were she a true conservative she’d be supporting Kavanaugh, who is exactly the type of judge we want on the court, one who will use the Constitution to decide arguments. Rubin has not written anything supporting the Republican side for over a decade, and is no way one anymore, but, just too highlight the TDS angle even more, here’s Taylor Millard at Hot Air

A Legitimate (And Provable) Reason To Not Support Kavanaugh For SCOTUS

Kavanaugh’s stance on warrantless spying is extremely troubling – although there may be some signs his opinion has changed.

His original viewpoint on warrantless wiretapping claimed it was consistent with the Fourth Amendment. Kavanaugh expressed this outlook in a concurrence in the 2015 Klayman vs. Obama decision before the DC Circuit (emphasis mine).

This is the route that the #NeverTrumpers are taking. I see this from Outside The Beltway’s Doug Mataconis and so many other right leaning #NeverTrumpers. They’ve found essentially one ruling that means He Cannot Be Confirmed, and it all goes to Trump hatred.

Anyhow, the “the court will be ruined!!!!” talking point will coalesce more and more, especially when their attempts to shift the goal posts from a one week FBI investigation into a “let’s just keep investigating forever” one fail.

Basically, they blame everything on man-caused climate change, including winter. As has been noted many times, this is the Cult’s way of incorporating weather that is inconvenient to their talking points, scaremongering, and computer models.

Federal Judge: California’s Sanctuary State Law Doesn’t Apply To Chartered Cities

You may have read tweets and seen headlines and such about a federal judge declaring California’s sanctuary state law unconstitutional, but, it’s not quite that simple

O.C. Judge Rules California’s ‘Sanctuary State’ Law Does Not Apply to Huntington Beach, Other Charter Cities

A judge has ruled that California can’t require the city of Huntington Beach to follow a state law limiting local police collaboration with federal immigration agents.

Superior Court Judge James Crandall said Thursday that cities that create their own charters have a greater degree of autonomy, the Orange County Register reported.

The seaside city of 200,000 people sued the state earlier this year claiming the so-called sanctuary law interferes with its authority to enforce local laws and regulations.

California has argued that the state constitution makes charter cities — which number more than 100 and include large cities such as Los Angeles and San Diego — subject to the same state laws as other cities on matters of statewide concern.

Huntington believes this ruling applies to all chartered cities in California. The ACLU, of course taking the side of illegal aliens, stated that it only applies to Huntington. It might take another lawsuit to find out. But, you can bet that the chartered cities that oppose giving illegal aliens a free pass and are willing to work with federal immigration authorities will look at this ruling as freeing them to do both.

Huntington Beach has stated their police force would not be an immigration force, but, that they would work with said federal immigration authorities, which was restricted by California’s SB54. Other chartered cities are planning on filing briefs in support of their California constitutional rights to not have SB54 apply to them, especially ones in Orange County.

Anyhow, Trump should announce that ICE will not operate in the California capitol of Sacramento. That any illegal there would not have to worry. Let the city deal with the fallout.

Senator Flake (R) Demands One Week FBI Investigation Into Kavanaugh, Trump Allows

Will the Democrats accept the results of the FBI investigation?

(Daily Caller) President Donald Trump ordered the FBI to conduct an investigation into Christine Blasey Ford’s allegation of sexual misconduct against Judge Brett Kavanaugh as requested by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Friday.

“I’ve ordered the FBI to conduct a supplemental investigation to update Judge Kavanaugh’s file. As the Senate has requested, this update must be limited in scope and completed in less than one week,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tweeted on behalf of the president.

The move comes after the committee convened to vote on advancing Kavanaugh’s nomination to the full Senate with a 11-10 recommendation on a party line vote. Republican Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona voted “yes” with the condition that an FBI probe would briefly investigation Ford’s accusation against Kavanaugh.

Prior to the committee meeting, Flake announced that he would be voting to confirm Kavanaugh. Only after speaking with Democratic Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware did he include the condition of the FBI investigation.

Regardless of Flakes extreme #NeverTrump and Trump Derangement Syndrome attitudes, he’s voted with Trump the majority of the time and Kavanaugh is exactly the type of Conservative he would support. One of the reasons he surely did this, and we’ll never know them all, is that he’s using this as a way to attempt to get Democrats to just move on. Lindsay Graham stated

Graham said that in his opinion, “you can have the FBI, the CIA and the Foreign Legion” investigate Kavanaugh and still not find any new information.

He added that Flake just wants to make sure the process of confirming the nominee is fair.

“I’ve never felt better about [Kavanaugh] being on the bench than I do right now,” Graham said.

Flake wrote before the Judicial Committee vote “In fact, I commented at the time that had he been nominated in another era, he would have likely received 90+ votes.” This could be a way to increase that vote count from the unhinged Democrats.

Six FBI background checks found nothing worth investigating. In all these years nothing ever came up which gave pause to Kavanaugh sitting on any judicial bench, not coaching all sorts of girls teams in his private life. Will Democrats drop the matter when this one comes back the same as others?

So, Ford’s lawyer is trying to expand the probe in time and scope. Will Democrats go with and demand more time? Mitch McConnell looks like he’s moving forward

The Senate had been expected to begin debate on Kavanaugh’s nomination this weekend, but after Trump’s order, McConnell adjourned the body until Monday. A potential confirmation vote may not come until late next week, next weekend or perhaps the week of Oct. 7.

“This is a nomination that deserves to move forward — and that is precisely what is happening,” McConnell, R-Ky., said on the Senate floor Friday.

Added McConnell, “Now we will keep the process moving.”

Come next Friday, the investigation needs to be over. We’ll probably have a report by Wednesday. McConnell should immediately move to debate.

He supports a one week investigation. Place your bets on what day Corey says that one week is not enough.

Good News: ‘Climate Change’ Will Cause Mosquitoes To Rule The Earth

I look forward to serving out new overlords

Mosquitoes Will Rule the Earth as Climate Change Expands Disease Vectors

Although many U.S. politicians insist on denying climate change, most scientists worldwide are believers. And the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) even has a pagedescribing concerns over climate change and the likelihood it will increase the risk of vector-borne diseases. Those include Lyme disease (increasing), West Nile virus (increasing), Zika virus (increasing), and malaria (increasing).

And, in fact, given the flooding and destruction caused in the Carolinas by Hurricane Florence, the CDC notes that mosquitoes and as a result, mosquito-borne illnesses, often increase after a hurricane. Although mosquitoes don’t typically survive the high winds of a hurricane, “Immediately following a hurricane, flooding occurs. Mosquito eggs laid in the soil by floodwater mosquitoes during previous floods hatch. This results in very large populations of floodwater mosquitoes.”

Generally, these are “nuisance mosquitoes” that don’t spread illness-causing viruses. The disease-carrying types, however, usually increase two weeks to two months after a hurricane

But this never happened before fossil fueled vehicles, you guys.

Yee summarized a 2015 study published in 2015 in Global Change Biology, writing, “They showed that the continuing trends of rising temperatures and changing precipitation patterns will foster further spread of WNB such as leading to WNV being established as far north as southern Canada and even northern British Columbia by 2080.”

Bottom line? Politicians might deny climate change, but disease-carrying insects and their pathogens aren’t—they’re exploiting it. There might be a joke there about the difference between politicians and disease-carrying parasites, but let’s not go there.

The forgot to prove the anthropogenic part. But, then, they never prove it.
