Polar Bears Invade Russian Town, ‘Climate Change’ Blamed

Fences have risen around kindergartens. Special vehicles transport military personnel to their work sites. Residents of the island settlement are afraid to leave their homes.

Novaya Zemlya is a Russian archipelago stretching into the Arctic Ocean. It once played host to Soviet nuclear tests, including the largest-ever man-made explosion, when the so-called King of Bombs detonated in 1961, releasing 50 megatons of power and deepening an arms race that threatened to turn the Cold War hot.

Today, the barren landscape is under siege — from dozens of polar bears locked in their very own sort of hot war. Marine ecologists have long been sounding the alarm about the peril posed by global warming for the vulnerable species. In the far reaches of Russia, the situation has suddenly become traumatic for humans, too.

Officials in the Arkhangelsk region, where the archipelago lies, on Saturday declared a state of emergency because of the marauding mammals. Polar bears are typically born on land but live mostly on sea ice, where they hunt and feed on seals. But as arctic ice thins, which is linked to the acceleration of climate change, the animals move ashore, ravenous. They scavenge, sometimes coming into contact with human populations.

At least 52 bears were massed near Belushya Guba, the main settlement on the island territory, which is still used as a military garrison, with restricted access to the public. The town had a population of about 2,000 as of the 2010 Census.

Of course, there’s no scientific proof that the warming is mostly/solely caused by Mankind and “carbon pollution.” The thing is, polar bears have been in the town before, they’re just getting a much bigger population this time. And there could be a better reason than the mythical man-caused climate change

She said: ‘There are no more enemies. That is  they became  insolent. This is scary. When they walk under your window at night, it is creepy.’

And they are hitting up the dumps. They are searching for free, easy meals. Just like we see with so many other types of animals around the world. Just like raccoons like hitting up your garbage can. So, yes, it is pretty much the fault of mankind, but nothing to do with ‘climate change’.

Border Protection Talks Break Down As Open Borders Dems Demand Cap On Beds For Illegal Aliens

President Trump should say that ICE will no longer have anything to do with a few certain areas that are sanctuaries for illegal aliens, and watch them stream into those places, over-burdening the health system, education system, social safety nets, and legal system. Watch the crime spike. If Democrats love illegal aliens so much, let them take care of the resulting fallout

Time Running Out to Avoid Government Shutdown as Talks Falter

Time is running out to avoid a second partial government shutdown, as congressional talks about border-security funding broke down during the weekend in the latest dispute over detention beds for immigrants.

Negotiations could still get back on track in the next 24 hours, and negotiators may decide that a stopgap funding extension past Friday is necessary. But the prospect of getting an agreement by Friday’s deadline seems to have derailed, just as negotiators had hoped to unveil a deal Monday to set up votes in the House and Senate this week.

The sticking point is over the number and purpose of immigration detention beds. Democrats are seeking a cap to force U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, to detain criminals rather than undocumented immigrants with no criminal history. Republicans are resisting a limit on grounds that criminals shouldn’t count toward it and ICE should have discretion.

They are all criminals for simply crossing the border illegally/overstaying their visas. The minimum penalty is a small fine and deportation, per federal law. How many of them are involved in identity theft in order to work? How many commit misdemeanors like driving while intoxicated? Driving without a license and/or insurance? The very fact is that federal law says they shouldn’t be here.

You can bet these same ICE deranged Democrats would have you arrested if you trespassed on their own property.

There are currently 40,520 ICE immigration detention beds funded by Congress. Heading into the talks, the White House sought to increase the number to 52,000, while Democrats wanted a reduction to 35,520. Democrats have proposed a 16,500 cap on beds to be used for interior enforcement, with the rest to be used for those captured at the border, according to people familiar with the talks.

“For far too long, the Trump administration has been tearing communities apart with its cruel immigration policies,” said Democratic Representative Lucille Roybal-Allard of California, a member of the conference committee.

“A cap on ICE detention beds will force the Trump administration to prioritize deportation for criminals and people who pose real security threats, not law-abiding immigrants who are contributing to our country.”

Every day they’re here they’re breaking the law.

But Republicans are pushing back that Democrats are seeking to limit the number of beds available for violent criminals.

“That would incentivize illegal immigration and undercut anything you did on the wall,” Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”

Everything Democrats do is to incentivize illegal immigration. The thing is, that reduction in beds would actually mean that as many as 8,300 criminal illegal aliens, the ones who have committed serious crimes, would have to be released.

The letter warned, “Any legislation that reduces ICE’s detention capacity would hinder its ability to perform its national security and public safety missions, but also impact local law enforcement’s ability to protect the communities they serve. In order to meet the cap being tentatively proposed by Congress, ICE would be compelled to release thousands of aliens from custody.”

The correspondence noted, “Over 90 percent of ICE’s arrests are aliens who have a criminal conviction, have been arrested for a criminal, or have been previously removed. Placing a cap on ICE detention beds will undermine the efficacy of the immigration system and reduce the number of aliens who are removed from the United States.”

Release them at the homes of Democratic lawmakers.

Trump Wants Democrats To Embrace Big Government, Er, Green New Deal

On one hand, there’s the old maxim about not interrupting your opponent when they are making a mistake, and the Green New Deal is a big one. We’d usually refer to it as a gaffe in politics, meaning that it says what the Dems really want to do and made the mistake of telling us. On the other hand, most of the media has virtually memory-holed the GND, because they understand how incredibly insane it makes the Democrats look to the average American voter

TRUMP TELLS DEMOCRATS TO EMBRACE OCASIO-CORTEZ’S GREEN NEW DEAL

President Donald Trump sarcastically tweeted that he believed Democrats should embrace Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal” resolution.

“I think it is very important for the Democrats to press forward with their Green New Deal,” Trump tweeted Saturday evening. “It would be great for the so-called ‘Carbon Footprint’ to permanently eliminate all Planes, Cars, Cows, Oil, Gas & the Military – even if no other country would do the same. Brilliant!”

Ocasio-Cortez released her highly-anticipated Green New Deal resolution Thursday. Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey released a companion bill in the Senate, and both versions were sponsored by Democratic lawmakers eyeing a 2020 presidential bid. (snip)

The Green New Deal is meant to be a litmus test for Democrats running for president, but the bill has also got Republicans optimistic about their chances in 2020. The GOP cast the resolution as “socialist” because of its unprecedented expansion of government over people’s lives.

If you look around, most of the media outlets have already moved on from covering what was supposed to be the big Democrat bill on dealing with ‘climate change’. CNN, ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, Washington Post, NY Times, LA Times, etc, most have little to nothing on the GND just a few days later, except for some scattered opinion pieces.

Hilariously, the talking point now is that the original wacky draft released on Thursday was doctored, even though everyone got the same thing, and the link in a tweet from AOC went to the crazy one

Eventually, Ocasio-Cortez’s staff took the FAQ off her webpage. Green New Dealers then went into damage control mode, even claiming the FAQ was “doctored” by conservatives on social media.

Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti made the claim, but also admitted an “unfinished” FAQ “got published to the website by mistake.” Though, he did not explain why NPR was also given a gaffe-riddled FAQ.

All the other outlets received the same “doctored” one from AOC. The usually squishy Ross Douthat seems to be the lone voice at the NY Times, as he has One Cheer for the Green New Deal

The first major policy intervention from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the noted social-media personality and future dictator-for-life of the Americas (I believe she’s also a congresswoman of some sort), is a quite-extraordinary document: a blueprint for fighting climate change that manages to confirm every conservative critique of liberal environmental activism, every Republican suspicion of what global-warming alarm is really all about.

The core conservative suspicion is that when liberals talk about the dire threat of global warming, they’re actually seizing opportunistically on the issue to justify, well, #fullsocialism — the seizure of the economy’s commanding heights in order to implement the most left-wing possible agenda.

A conventional liberal, up until now, would dismiss that belief as simply paranoid, the product of Fox News feedback loops and the science-denying fever swamps. But the Green New Deal that Ocasio-Cortez and Massachusetts Senator Edward Markey are sponsoring — and that four leading Democratic contenders for the presidency have already endorsed — responds by saying: Yes, that’s absolutely correct.

It’s, again, what I’ve been saying since even before I started blogging back in 2004: this really isn’t about dealing with a changing climate, it’s all about politics.

‘Climate Change’ Is Making Cute Birds Crazed Murderers Or Something

Climate change is having devastating effects on our environment, from rising sea levels to severe weather. Here’s one effect that scientists didn’t anticipate, however: murderous, brain-eating birds.

Great tits (Parus major) are adorable, beautifully-adorned birds common across Europe, North Africa and Central Asia. They typically build their nests in tree cavities in the spring, and once their young have fledged, they abandon their nests and go about their merry way.

This is a convenient pattern for another bird, the pied flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca), which migrates from Africa for the summer. Flycatchers are keen on taking over the abandoned nests of great tits; it certainly beats building their own nests, and after a long migration it’s nice to have a home ready-made and waiting for you.

Unfortunately, though, climate change is causing the nesting times of these two species to overlap. So when flycatchers come knocking, they find that many of the nests are still occupied, and that doesn’t sit well with the territorial, and much larger, great tits.

And apparently, the one thing you don’t want to mess with is a nesting great tit mama.

“When a flycatcher enters a box with a great tit inside, it doesn’t stand a chance,” said biologist Jelmer Samplonius from the University of Groningen, in a press release. “The great tit is heavier, as the flycatchers are built for a long migration from Europe to Western Africa and back. Also, great tits have very strong claws.”

Samplonius is one of the first to recognize this intensifying “war of the birds,” and has conducted the first study detailing some of the gruesome behavior that ensues. Not only do the great tits make short work of the unsuspecting flycatchers that wander into their nests, but they’re also developing a taste for their brains.

All because you refuse to give up your modern lifestyle, fossil fuels, and allow Government to tax the hell out of you and take away your freedom.

Different Lunatic Democrat Calls For Defunding Dept Of Homeland Security

Recently elected Representative Ilhan Omar, lunatic and Jew/Israel hater, is probably upset that fellow lunatic Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is getting so much press

Omar calls for defunding Homeland Security — 1 hour after insisting that TSA workers get backpay

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., continues her streak of controversial tweets, this time taking aim at the Department of Homeland Security.

In a tweet Friday night, the freshman congresswoman refers to President Trump as “Individual 1,” and insists he doesn’t have “public support” to “ram his hateful wall through Congress.”

“Let’s stand firm: #Not1Dollar to DHS,” Omar then urges fellow Democrats.

While there have been growing calls from Democrats to abolish ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), there hasn’t been a strong demand to defund the entire Department of Homeland Security, which also includes the Transportation Safety Administration, Secret Service, Coast Guard and Federal Emergency Management Agency.

But just an hour before calling for DHS to be defunded, as Fox News anchor Rob Schmidt points out, Omar tweeted her outrage on behalf of TSA workers in Minnesota who haven’t received back pay due to the recent partial government shutdown.

Yup

One has to wonder if she was just confused, since she and lots of her unhinged leftist cohorts constantly mistake Customs and Border Patrol for Immigration and Customs Enforcement in terms of what they do, or if she’s serious. Does she really want to defund the Coast Guard? How about FEMA and the Secret Service? These people are nuts.

Brave, Brave Sir Spartacus Compares Green New Deal To Fighting WWII Nazis

If you haven’t gotten enough of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez being silly on the Green New Deal, here’s Cory Booker

(Daily Caller) Democratic Sen. Cory Booker appeared to compare adopting the so-called Green New Deal with fighting the Nazi regime.

“Our planet is in peril, and we need to be bold,” Booker said at a Friday campaign event in Iowa. There are a lot of people who are critical of the deal. Critics claim “it’s too impractical, and it’s too expensive.”

“And when the planet has been in peril in the past, who came forward to save Earth … from the scourge of Nazis and totalitarian regimes?” Booker asked rhetorically. “We came forward.”

“We came forward with the Marshal Plan,” he added, referring to a U.S. program concocted during the 1940s to rebuild parts of German and other European countries bombed out during World War II.

The GND, which was introduced Thursday by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, calls for a “10-year national mobilizations” toward a series of goals aimed at fighting global warming. A separate fact sheet published online claims the plan would “mobilize every aspect of American society on a scale not seen since World War 2.”

Of course, need it be said that the threat from the Nazis was real? Further, that the plans to both fight the Nazis and rebuild Europe were not based on “unicorn farts and rainbow stew”, but things that were actually in the realm of reality?

Not everyone who believes in man-made climate change is a full on Commie. Some are merely useful idiots. But whatever reason people may have for supporting the scam – greed, stupidity, virtue-signalling, idiot leftist teachers – the net result is the same: bigger government, higher taxes, more regulation, lower standards of living. Exactly like you’d get under communism, in fact.

So color me completely unshocked by the Green New Deal. It looks like a revamped Communist Manifesto because that’s exactly what it is.

If implemented, the size of government would increase to levels never before seen in a Western economy. The state’s control of everything from wage levels to how businesses are run to your personal freedoms would be total. There’s no mention of gulags or political prisoners or secret police but of course those would inevitably follow because how else would the state have a hope of enforcing measures which freedom loving Americans would naturally resist?

This is what I’ve been saying for well over a decade, and a major reason why I switched from being a Believer in anthropogenic global warming/climate change. Everything seemed to be about more and bigger government with more powers and more taxes/fees. How much in the way of fossil fuels will Brave Sir Spartacus used during his campaign?

Potential Border Fencing Deal Would Offer Way Less Than The $5 Billion Requested

New border-security deal in Congress would likely offer Trump just a fraction of requested $5.7B for wall

Details of a likely bipartisan border-security deal in Congress are being worked out after the White House indicated it will accept an agreement giving President Trump just a fraction of the money he’s demanded for his proposed U.S.-Mexico border wall.

Congressional negotiators said the money allocated to the border wall will be far below Trump’s requested figure of $5.7 billion, a demand that led to a showdown with congressional Democrats and the longest-ever federal government shutdown. The figure is likely to be somewhere around $1.6 billion.

The deal would not only partially fund the wall, it would also prevent another government shutdown next weekend. Trump threatened to go with the shutdown again, though congressional Republicans are unlikely to have the stamina for another shutdown for which they have been held responsible.

One White House aide indicated that Trump will accept whatever agreement comes out of the negotiations as he understands there isn’t enough willpower among Republicans to fight for the full border-wall funding.

On one hand, it’s a pittance of what was requested. On the other, Trump and Republicans forced Democrats to allocate some money for a border barrier, when they had been saying that the number would be zero, despite their talking points of “open the government and we’ll negotiate.” Trump is getting something. And then he can force more later. Plus, he has other options, such as invoking 10 United States Code § 284, which authorizes the U.S. military to build barriers at the southern border.

But even with a breakthrough in negotiations, Democrats are insisting that the money given to the border security shouldn’t be just for the physical barrier.

“Throughout the talks, Democrats have insisted that a border security compromise not be overly reliant on physical barriers,” Evan Hollander, a spokesman for Democrats who control the House Appropriations Committee, told the Associated Press. “We will not agree to $2 billion in funding for barriers.”

Democrats are demanding that measures that mostly do not stop illegals be implemented, like using more drones, so we can watch them cross illegally.
