Hot Take: Washington Post Suddenly Says There’s No Such Thing As Lone Wolves

Yes, yes, I haven’t blogged anything on the two shootings, one in El Paso and one in Dayton, Ohio, as there’s too much information, too much Narrative, and too much coming out. And too little time in my day. But, this one written by Juliette Kayyem, who is a “former assistant secretary at the Department of Homeland Security and faculty chair of the homeland security program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government,” caught my eye based on things written on Twitter and other sites yesterday. Not mentioned is that she is very much a Democrat

There are no lone wolves

There are no lone wolves. A mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso on Saturday was allegedly perpetrated by a young, white male, according to police, who appears to have posted a racist, anti-immigrant manifesto online minutes before the attack, declaring the need to fight the “Hispanic invasion of Texas.” Such white-supremacist hatred isn’t just a poisonous belief held by isolated individuals. It is a group phenomenon that is, according to the FBI, the greatest terrorist threat to America. The El Paso shooting, which left 20 dead and more than two dozen wounded, was followed hours later by a mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, that killed nine. The shooter also died, and on Sunday, police were still unsure of his motive.

If the El Paso massacre turns out to have been the hate crime that police suspect, it will be one more example why viewing what is happening in America today as anything short of an ideological conflict — with one side heavily armed, the other side shopping for school supplies at a Walmart — is to disengage each individual incident from the terrorist rhetoric that breeds it.

White-supremacist terror is rooted in a pack, a community. And its violent strand today is being fed by three distinct, but complementary, creeds. The community has essentially found a mission, kinship and acceptance.

Now, she goes on to describe the three creeds, and she isn’t necessarily wrong. But, what’s interesting is that Islamist terrorists are painted as lone wolves, that even big attacks by Islamist groups are painted as isolated incidents. Because they not only do not want to blame the whole of Islam (nor do most counter jihad folks, which is why we use the word Islamist), they do not even want to say it has anything to do with Islam at all, and work hard to divorce the root cause from Islam, the Koran, and Muhammed.

She talks about the 3 creeds being The Mission, The Kinship, and The Acceptance. Read the article for the details, but, this could be applied exactly to radicalized Muslims. And you can bet that everyone in the media will be throwing out the phrase “lone wolf” the next time there’s an Islamist attack

What Ms. Kayyem is attempting to do is shift focus to all white people, much like AOC and others, and to Trump and Republicans. That’s the real point

The similarities between Trump’s language about Hispanics, immigrants and African Americans marks them as the “other” and is mimicked by white supremacists. He fails to shame them. His rhetoric winks and nods, curries favor, embraces both sides and, while not promoting violence specifically, certainly does not condemn it (until after it occurs).

Public speech that may incite violence, even without that specific intent, has been given a name: stochastic terrorism, for a pattern that can’t be predicted precisely but can be analyzed statistically. It is the demonization of groups through mass media and other propaganda that can result in a violent act because listeners interpret it as promoting targeted violence — terrorism. And the language is vague enough that it leaves room for plausible deniability and outraged, how-could-you-say-that attacks on critics of the rhetoric.

Yup, it’s Blame Trump. But, um, did she, or the person who edited her opinion piece, read the Washington Post?

(Breitbart) The Washington Post reported Sunday: “Authorities believe … [the shooter] wrote the document, though they are still gathering evidence.” It also noted that the author “stresses that he has maintained his white supremacist ideology for many years, predating President Trump and his 2016 campaign, which he says did not influence his reasons for carrying out the attack.”

CNN added: “The writer wrote that their opinions on immigration predate President Trump, and the writer appears to have held these beliefs for years.

Huh. Further, what of the Dayton shooter? Notice that Ms. Kayyem never mentions him

Heavy.com reported: “Connor Betts, the Dayton, Ohio mass shooter, was a self-described ‘leftist,’ who wrote that he would happily vote for Democrat Elizabeth Warren, praised Satan, was upset about the 2016 presidential election results, and added, ‘I want socialism, and i’ll not wait for the idiots to finally come round to understanding.’”

So, is Betts a lone wolf, or did the public speech and creeds of Leftists incite him? Do we blame Elizabeth Warren? Hardcore socialism? Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for her concentration camp comments?

I wouldn’t. But, based on the Narrative, everyone should Blame them.

But, because Betts is a hardcore socialist, was a registered Democrat, his crime is being slowly downplayed, and the whole thing will soon move to gun grabbing.

Climahypocrites Relax In Style At Google Hotcoldwetdry Summit

Most news outlets have avoided any mention of the massive hypocrisy from those attending the Google summit. A few haven’t. It’s nice to know the big-shots (with no climate degrees or any degrees in any science) are able to relax

From the link

They’re red hot over global warming but happily burned up the gas in Italy.

Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, Bradley Cooper and Oprah looked relaxed and unconcerned Saturday while boating around Sicily during Google’s star-studded climate summit.

The foursome’s gas-guzzling visit to the tiny island of Panarea came amid controversy at the three-day Google Camp fest, where some 200 stars took 114 private jets and partied aboard $400 million mega yachts.

Page Six reported that the flights alone pumped 864 tons of carbon dioxide into the air.

Attendees also hogged the roads with Maseratis, Ferraris, Porches and high-end SUVs. (snip)

The exclusive and ultra-wasteful camp included a barefoot speech from Prince Harry, who made waves by announcing he and Megan Markle would only be having one more child (in addition to newborn son Archie) because of the worsening condition of the planet.

He apparently didn’t give the same consideration when it came to his travel.

The royal recycler flew on both a private jet and helicopter to get to the island greenfest, all paid for by Google, reports the Daily Mail.

It’s never wrong to keep pointing out climahypocrisy, especially when those same people want to force you to comply.

As a sidebar, the people who live in the local area and regular tourists were treated like garbage for the even

Oops: Insane Extinction Rebellion Apparently Not Very Good At Protecting Their Documents

Remember how we were told this was a people’s movement? Huh

Delingpole: Exposed? Soros on List of Mega-Rich Extinction Rebellion Backers

An anonymous source claims to have extracted lots of documents from Extinction Rebellion’s computer database and has put them up online.

The documents, if genuine, seem to have been exposed through carelessness on the part of Extinction Rebellion, not a computer hack. Anyway, Paul Homewood has been filleting some of the best bits and here is what he has found.

If verified, this confirms Extinction Rebellion is disturbingly flush and well-funded: over £1 million raised this year, half of it still unspent, according to the documents.

Major donors are said to include — inevitably — George Soros; Vivienne Westwood’s son Joe Corre (the saucy underwear and dildo tycoon, worth $48 million); the European Climate Foundation (which funnels money from far-left American philanthropic foundations to European climate projects); Greenpeace; the far-left Tides Foundation; and a little known Swiss asset management company, called Furka Holdings, founded by a banker with Russian links, which gave £50,000.

So….not really a people’s movement? Delingpole notes some of the people negatively affected by the protests and the costs associated, before jumping into

If its view of the world sounds slightly unhinged that’s probably because it is unhinged.

There is little if any scientific evidence to support its deranged world view; yet its conviction that it is right, that indeed it has a monopoly on truth, is as strong as any doomsday cult’s.

It spells out what it believes very clearly in this private briefing document, which lists its aims and describes its philosophy:

  1. To show to radical people (and internationally) that it is possible to have an “impossible” plan and carry out a rebellion – however small (or large!) and thus increase the “overton window” of acceptable discourse on the ecological crisis.
  2. To create a national conversation about the ecological crisis and climate breakdown – including that our families/communities/society and state are facing existential threat. This includes to discuss our demands with the government/ political parties (see below). Also to support further uprisings to demand change off the back of the door we open.
  3. To build structure, community and test prototypes in preparation for the coming structural  collapse of the regimes of western “democracies” – now seen as inevitable due to stored up crisis. Thus preparing a foundation to transform society and resist fascism / other extremes. This includes creating Rising from the Wreckage- a Citizens Assembly based on sortition

Nutjobs. Loony tunes authoritarian nutjobs. Paul Homewood takes a deep dive into the documents (which were not hacked, just bad security), and notes, among the donors (one of which appears, again, to be George Soros and his Tides Foundation) is

Children’s Investment Fund Foundation – £121140

The CIFF like to give the impression that their purpose is to tackle ill health and malnutrition amongst the world’s poor. But they also give out millions each year for climate change projects.

It’s funders might be surprised that their money is going to an anarchist group, determined to send Britain back to the dark ages.

Huh again. Delingpole ends his piece with

Perhaps the rich people alleged to be funding these eco-fascists imagine that they will be exempt — that they will form part of some kind of privileged Nomenklatura who can carry on living their privileged lifestyle as before.

They do. Heck, most of the climate cultists think they will be exempt. I’m almost tempted to let them get their way and institute their polices, just to watch the shocked faces and caterwauling when they all, from the lowest to the biggest, realize that they’ve just owned themselves, hosed their own lives.

San Francisco Airport Bans Plastic Water Bottles To Stop ‘Climate Change’

Look, I’ve mentioned many times the problem from plastic pollution. We can’t just say “well, most is coming from China and India, so, not our problem.” I practice what I preach. I reuse and recycle as much as possible. I don’t litter. We should all do what we can. This is not the way to do it, though

From the article

San Francisco International Airport is banning the sale of single-use plastic water bottles.

The unprecedented move at one of the major airports in the country will take effect Aug. 20, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Friday.

The new rule will apply to airport restaurants, cafes and vending machines. Travelers who need plain water will have to buy refillable aluminum or glass bottles if they don’t bring their own.

As a department of San Francisco’s municipal government, the airport is following an ordinance approved in 2014 banning the sale of plastic water bottles on city-owned property.

The shift away from plastics is also part of a broader plan to slash net carbon emissions and energy use to zero and eliminate most landfill waste by 2021, said airport spokesman Doug Yakel.

If they were smart, they’d come up with a plan to create more recycling, maybe by placing a small fee on each bottle, much like is done is some areas with glass bottles. Turn them in, get the money back. It’ll slow things down at security when people are bringing their own refillable bottles, especially if they are filled.

But, let’s face it, this is a silly rule from a ‘climate change’ point of view, considering it is at an international airport, which depends on fossil fuels. Flights, the vehicles working at the airport, the vehicles which bring people to the airport.

Cliff Collapses In California Killing 3. Guess What Gets Blamed?

So, this happened

Now, California is a place of massive tectonic activity. Many massive faults, lots of smaller ones. The Pacific plate is diving under California. This is what creates those hills and mountains. And, you get erosion of those hills and mountains. A place of alternative dry and wet, and, in this case, right near the ocean. You know this. It’s called science. Geology. Etc.

Ilhan Omar (Who’s Also A Jew Hater) Offers Silly Zero Waste Bill As Part Of Green New Deal

See, this could have been a decent bill. The idea is good, but, the positioning is eye rollingly idiotic

Scrap Collector: Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Zero Waste Act billed as ‘key part’ of Green New Deal

Hot on the heels of last month’s sweeping national plastic pollution proposal, there’s a new federal waste bill in town.

I missed that one. Must not have gotten much press. It is a little bit too big government, a bit too over the top, but, the idea is presented in a lucid, rational manner, because, yes, we do have too much plastic pollution, and people do not recycle. What the two Democrats, Sen Tom Udall and Rep Alan Lowenthall did not do was go beyond basic language about protecting the environment. Omar didn’t see the sane way they positioned it

The Zero Waste Act, introduced by Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. as a “key part of the Green New Deal,” would provide up to $250 million in funding for “zero waste” initiatives — including organics recycling infrastructure, e-waste recycling or reuse, source reduction and market development.

“Our country generates over 250 million tons of trash each year. Right now, most of that trash does not get recycled or composted or reused. Instead, it ends up in landfills and incinerators, fueling our climate crisis and polluting the communities who live near these toxic sites,” Omar said during a press conference last week. “The only way to combat this crisis is to move to a ‘zero waste’ economy.”

The congresswoman framed waste as “an environmental justice issue,” noting that 80% of incinerators are located in low-income communities, communities of color and indigenous lands. In addition to presenting opportunities for economic growth and greenhouse gas reduction, waste diversion “protects communities from the health hazards associated with landfills and incinerators, such as toxic gases, pests, and air and water pollution.”

Zero waste is unobtainable at this time, but the idea of moving towards it is a good one. Consider “e-waste”, especially mobile phones. How many are just thrown in the garbage? Carriers and others should entice people to recycle them. So, good right? Right up to the “climate crisis”, “green new dea”, and environmental justice” moonbattery, which will cause people to dismiss this as a typical Modern Socialist bit of insanity to be ignored and fought against, because you know it will go way too far in its objectives. For instance, only those which a “living wage” are eligible for grants.

It’s a way to take a good idea and destroy it, because people like Omar are nuts.

Bummer: People Demanding Asylum Often Have No Lawyers To Help With Process

This has made the NY Times very upset, so, Miriam Jordan wrote an opinion piece masquerading as straight news

In Court Without a Lawyer: The Consequences of Trump’s ‘Remain in Mexico’ Plan

Outside one of the nation’s busiest immigration courts, dozens of migrant families streamed out of a pair of buses that had just pulled in from the Mexican border, all of them hoping to fight deportation and ask for refuge in the United States.

They filed into two packed waiting rooms at the busy federal compound southeast of San Diego. Mothers tried to soothe crying babies. Security guards escorted people to bathroom breaks. Inside the courtrooms, people waiting their turns before the judges slouched on wooden benches as the long hours wore on.

The hearings unfolding several days a week in Southern California are unlike most of the asylum proceedings that have dominated immigration court dockets since Central American families began arriving in large numbers at the southern border in 2014. For the 158 migrants brought in through the San Ysidro port of entry that day in July, their stay in the United States would be brief: Nearly all of them would be returned to Mexico at the end of the day to await, at a distance, what for some of them could be a life-or-death decision.

And most of them will be denied asylum, because they do not qualify. They’ve been enticed by Open Borders advocates to make the 2,000 mile trek. As for being deported, that would be what Mexico is looking to do.

For decades, those who could reasonably argue they were fleeing persecution in their homelands could enter the United States and obtain temporary residence and often a work permit while they consulted with a lawyer and prepared to present a full asylum petition to the immigration court.

That all changed under a Trump administration program that began in January. The program requires many migrants seeking admission to the United States to be sent back to Mexico for the duration of their court proceedings, allowing them to cross the border only for their hearings.

For decades, a goodly chunk simply disappeared into America after we generously allowed them in to make their petition. Then, decades later they demand that we give them citizenship after taking advantage of our generosity.

The program is proving disastrously difficult for many asylum seekers, who show up for critical court hearings like the ones in San Diego with no legal representation and little understanding of what is needed to successfully present a case. Some have not even been informed of when their cases would be heard, or were given the wrong date or the wrong courthouse.

That would be on them. If you’re going to petition, say, the IRS, it is on you to obtain representation and learn what’s necessary to successfully present your case, right? You should take the time to find out the things you need to know, correct? It’s called personal responsibility. Now, if you were busted and couldn’t afford a lawyer, that’s something different. These people are all showing up voluntarily. Want a lawyer? Hire one. Heck, a bunch of you could band together for representation. They could Demand that the liberal Open Borders advocates who enticed them to come pay for them. The U.S. taxpayers shouldn’t.

Hey, perhaps the NY Times can pick up the tab, since this gives them a sad.
