Der Fuhrer, Sorry, PBO, Creates New Communication Position

Let’s jump in the wayback machine, and wonder “hey, I wonder how the left, the media, the ACLU, etc., would act if Bush had pulled this stunt”

(FishbowlNY) – The White House has named Jesse Lee to a new position within its communications department titled Director of Progressive Media & Online Response. According to The Huffington Post, Lee will essentially be responsible for building up Obama’s online presence as he prepares for his reelection bid, and squashing any negative stories.

…If you’re going to post something online about Obama that isn’t true, Lee is going to be the one to handle you. Considering that Lee’s first tweet about his new position included a picture of The Terminator, we suggest you watch what you say OR BE DESTROYED.

Let me get this straight: Obama is going to use the publicly funded White House offices to stifle the free speech of people who do not agree with him? Time to call your elected officials, folks. Go to congressmerge.com to get their info.

Nice Deb has more.

I always wondered if the day would come that I’d post an Obama-as-Hitler picture.

The scary question is “what weight will that position hold?”

    I can imagine this conversation……

“Mr. Parsons? Please hold for the White House…..”

“Bob? Can I call you Bob? This is Jesse Lee from the office Progressive Media & Online Response. Listen Bob, you have a blog on your servers where some guy who is a pirate is saying things about President Obama that are not true. He has even disowned him as his president. Now Bob, you have Danica Patrick running in the great American race – the Indy 500 – and I am sure that you wouldn’t want a scandal where you are supporting illegal pirates and people who hate the president, would you? I know the president would be grateful if you just deleted that account and we’ll make sure the IRS doesn’t audit your company. Okay Bob?”

  4. It may be a bit of a stretch, but this directly violates the 1st: congress shall make no law… Congress authorizes $ for White House. WH uses money to create position for free speech intimidation. Violation. Unconstitutional.

I talked to Bob: he doesn’t like Obama either.

  5. gitarcarver says:

Didn’t they try this before? Didn’t they have some sort of website or place to send in names and sites that were bashing or spreading what they considered “false” information?

Didn’t that get shot down for the reason you are mentioning?

Are they that stupid to try the same thing under a different guise again?

(Last question was rhetorical, by the way.)

  6. Rob in Katy says:

I think the other website or email actually was: [email protected].

It is almost past time of contacting congress, they have abdicated their role for so long, it is time to clear houses: house, senate and white house.

  7. I know another they had was [email protected], er, sorry, whitehouse.gov, designed to snitch on people who were telling the truth about Obamacare.

  9. Seriously – somebody sending Tweets about false stories is the equivalent of Hitler?

Just tell me, for reference: is there anything stupid or offensive enough that conservatives won’t believe it? Really – is there a lowest level . . . somewhere?

Yes, he’s in the white house.

  11. gitarcarver says:

somebody sending Tweets about false stories is the equivalent of Hitler?

False assumption, Kevin. You are assuming that the stories are false. We have seen that when it comes to Obamacare, the Whitehouse has not been forthcoming or honest in any way, shape or form.

Therefore, the “tweets” are more likely to be more lies and coming from the Whitehouse, would be called “propaganda.”

Now Kevin, let’s compare, shall we?

Hitler monitored the communications of citizens.
    Obama? Check.

Hitler asked that people report those who disagreed with him.
    Obame? Check.

Hitler had a minister of propaganda.”
Obama? Fail by name. “Check” in purpose.

I can keep going if you wish.

Just tell me, for reference: is there anything stupid or offensive enough that conservatives won’t believe it?

Yeah. We don’t believe that the executive branch should have a propaganda office monitoring the free speech of citizens.

If that is “stupid or offensive” to you, no one can help you.

  12. Awesome points, Captain and GC.

Kevin, most of the 1st was written based on the idea that people should be able to speak out against their government without fear of reprisal. That’s the problem with this, you have a branch of the federal government monitoring the Internet and actively fighting back against people who disagree with this administration. That is not what our country was founded on. And, admit it, if Bush had done this, you would be going bat shit crazy, as would the rest of your liberal buds. And most on the Right would have smacked Bush around over it, too, because it is clearly the wrong thing to do.
