Snap! White House Anti-War Protesters Get To Watch Launch Of Obama’s War From Jail

Irony and complete pwnage are in order for these silly protesters

More than 100 anti-war protesters, including the man who leaked the Pentagon Papers, were arrested outside the White House in demonstrations marking the eighth anniversary of the U.S.-led war in Iraq.

The protesters, some shouting anti-war slogans and singing “We Shall Not Be Moved,” were arrested Saturday after ignoring orders to move away from the gates of the White House. The demonstrators cheered loudly as Daniel Ellsberg, the former military analyst who in 1971 leaked the Pentagon’s secret history of the Vietnam War that was later published in major newspapers, was arrested and led away by police.

As many have noted, Obama launched his adventurous, unnecessary, and possibly illegal war of aggression in order to steal Libya’s oil without Congressional approval* on the same date as Operation Iraqi Freedom started. And Obama wasn’t even at the White House. He was partying in Brazil. Of course, they want him to “Go home.” Though Obama is bummed that he missed Carnival. And the protesters are bummed that they got to watch the start of Operation Porn Star Odyssey Dawn from the slammer. One even yelled “Don’t arrest them! Arrest Obama!” and “You’re arresting veterans, not war criminals!”

In New York City, about 80 protesters gathered near the U.S. military recruiting center in Times Square, chanting “No to war” and carrying banners that read, “I am not paying for war” and “Butter not guns.”

Similar protests marking the start of the Iraq war also were organized Saturday in San Francisco, Chicago and other cities.

How’d that work out?

But the Times Square demonstration that was meant to mark the eighth anniversary of the Iraq invasion quickly became a protest against Saturday’s military strikes.

Gary Maveal, 57, a law professor from Detroit who was visiting the city for a conference, said he feared the Libyan attacks would become a “quagmire.”

There’s the “quagmire” word. And it had barely started. Of course, Charlie Rangel decided to show up

“Our presidents seem to believe that all we have to do is go to the U.N. and we go to war,” Rangel said as a large television behind him at the recruiting station showed an advertisement for the Air Force with crews loading missiles onto fighter jets.

“Going to war is not a decision that presidents should make,” he added.

Instead, we can let tax cheats make that decision.

Michael Moore, in another attempt to remain relevant, took shots at Obama.

* Just to be clear, I’m mocking liberal Talking Points. And, yes, I will support Operation Stripper, er, Odyssey Dawn.

As one Professor Clark Points out: Those who condemned the use of force against Saddam, but who now praise the use of force against Qaddafi on humanitarian grounds have some explaining to do. Is the difference really a UN resolution – Oh wait, there were 17 UN resolutions on the books, as I recall, the majority of which Saddam had violated, that that would have authorized a resumption of hostilities from the first Gulf War – and one would think provide sufficient cover for any humanitarian intervention. I look forward to the rhetorical contortions to come. Neocons smiling, indeed.

  2. Many on the left are working hard to come up with some way to paint a rosy picture. Others are already going down the road about stealing oil. Yet, u know they will still vote Obama

Yes It appears that Obama has lost the confidence of Andrew Sullivan and while I think Sullivan is….

Well he is an influential progressive who pretends to be a conservative…or is it a moderate?

Either way…he hates Palin, The tea party and the right so progressive it is. His pen holds sway on the liberal left and more importantly the progressive left…..The fact he feels betrayed by Obama is actually of some significance.
