AGW Today: You Can Forget An Indian Summer, Brits

Climate creationists to blame this on man’s release of greenhouse gases in 3…2…1….

Hopes were raised as Britain basked in sunshine last week after the coldest August for 17 years, but they will fizzle out as a band of heavy rain sweeps the country this week.

Charlie Powell, a Met Office forecaster, said: “We had a decent last week of summer in the last week of the school holidays – but from Monday we get an autumnal feel to the weather.

And the wet and windy conditions are expected to continue into next week, with no sign of another sunny spell on the horizon.

Thunder, lightening and gale force winds will lash most parts on Tuesday, forecasters warned, with temperatures dropping to around 64.4 degrees Fahrenheit (18 Celsius) in the south from last week’s high of 75.2F (24C).

Said autumnal feel comes three weeks early. Of course, since it is chilly early, this will be blown off as being “just weather.” Or, alternatively, the Believers will spin a web about how greenhouse gases make it cold. The true measure of man caused global warming being a religion is that it causes everything.

Of course, since it is the Met office making these predictions, Britain will probably end up with weather like we have in North Carolina instead, based on their failures over the last few years. Of course, they aren’t the only ones who guesstimate. So does the UN IPCC, as admitted by their head hypocrite, Rejandra Pachauri.

Meanwhile, I wonder where all the climate data comes from

However, meteorologists are limited by the lack of data they receive from monitoring stations around the globe. Although there are more than 6,000 such stations providing data about temperatures, wind, precipitation and other variables, these only generate monthly averages for a particular locality.

“We need to get daily temperature readings if we are going to make accurate forecasts,” said Peter Thorne, of the Co-operative Institute for Climate and Satellites in North Carolina. At the same time, swaths of Africa and Antarctica and much of the Amazon have no stations at all.

So, they basically do not have the data necessary to make the predictions. Good to know. And no wonder people sacrifice being green in favor of comfort, what with the belief in AGW collapsing further every year. It doesn’t help that the leaders are typically complete climahypocrites. Prince Charles is showing his hypocrisy yet again.

Wait, that doesn’t fit the Libby’s playlist. This is supposed to have been the hottest year on record ever ever.

Hmmm… wonder what happened to that theory a few years back that hurricanes would become more numerous and more dangerous? How’s this year going? Is this like the 5th year in a row now of … much a do bout nuthin?

  2. captainfish says:

Otter. Up to your antics again?

  3. Kevin says:

I just read that the coldest August in 17 years is yet another example of the effects of global warming.

Another example of proof of global warming would be if a pirate wrote an article in a blog critical of AGW.

Give it up, Teach. You can’t beat ’em :). And even if you did, it’d just be labeled another example proving global warming!

  4. captainfish says:

Kevin’s existence on a pirate blog writing about global warming proves beyond a fact that there is a consensus that the world is gradually warming.
    HA! So there!
I dare you to try and disprove Kevin’s existence!!!

  5. Otter says:

    I got lucky 7!

  6. Kevin says:

According to the AGW Bible, An Inconvenient Truth, “When the world begins to warm because of man, fish will become captains.”

Man, that Gore guy is like a modern-day Nostradamus!

  7. captainfish says:

    Hey! Hey now!!
    Come on!!!

    I resemble that remark.

  8. David says:

I was reading some military history yesterday and noted something strange that had never come to my attention before. The battle was taking place in Mississippi. It was October but men were dying because of the heat. It truns out that the temperature was 100 degrees. This is in October! I have lived in the South for 60 years and do not know of similar temperatures.

  9. captainfish says:

Let me guess. They were using tanks, cars, jeeps, campfires, oil refineries, trash incinerators, air conditioning, and hair spray? Right?

I mean, that’s the only explanation I can think of at the moment. Hmm.

  10. David says:

I forgot to add the date, 1862.

  11. captainfish says:

But wait, that doesn’t make sense. 1862? You must be wrong. Temps never got hot until modern day cars and highways… such as in 1998 when America found out how to crank up the CO2 output of cars while getting less mpg.

  12. John Ryan says:

well Otter we can all pick our sources i choose to go with the official US government figures which says that so far 2010 is the hottest year on record http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/?report=global&year=2010&month=7For the year-to-date, the global combined land and ocean surface temperature of 14.5°C (58.1°F) was the warmest January-July period on record. This value is 0.68°C (1.22°F) above the 20th century average.
David just because someone says it was 100 degrees that day does not make it so, it must be scientificly determined and in 1860s on a battlefield may be suspect.
The North Polar Ice is well BELOW the average since sat record keeping was begun not EVERY year will be a record breaker.http://nsidc.org/data/seaice_index/images/n_plot_hires.png
And 2010 is less than 2009 and less tahn 2008. Just because someonne in this case WATT says something does not make it so you should always verify in this case I went to the National Snow and Ice Center for their numbers
javascript:void(window.open(trendurlswitch())); Otter you really should independently verify before just dragging someone’s “facts’ and posting them. You must know by now that I will doublecheck what you post

  13. John Ryan says:

Oh and Otter that “scientist” D Roy Spencer ? he does not believe in evolution just like many climate change deniers who are saying that the earth is not getting warmer, JUST LOOK HOW COLD IT WAS IN AUGUST IN ENGLAND !!!

  14. Otter says:

I see you like your gibberish, ‘lil LIAR.

  15. captainfish says:

John, I want to thank you for being at the Antartic, Artic, and at every other monitoring station around the globe to, how did you say it, “independently verify” the data before just plugging away some odd link from a website.

I know you wouldn’t do what Otter did. Thanks for being there.

And we all know, that since you are at these sites making sure the numbers are exceptionally valid and reliable, we know that those who analyze the numbers, like WATTS, are idiots for even thinking your data is far from perfect.

  16. David says:

    John,
First, the number was generated by the Confederate officals on the scene, I trust them far more than our US government. They were fighting for a free society, not perpetual slavary for all.

Then, as the Artic is disolving, isn’t the South pole ice increasing? I heard that somewhere but you can’t find that type of information as it would discount the current party dogma.

But I can be wrong, just explain how taxes will decrease the temperature of the world. That seems to be the answer from the govenment. Don’t give me the line about green energy as that requires fossil fuels to construct and is bull.

Then take a close look at the IPCC report. All of it is speculation. Can you tell me how the CO2 content of the artic ice is equal to the upper atmosphere? As to evolution, I am sure that many believe in different things. But evolution is not belief, it is real and the science is proven. AGW is still belief and qualifies as a religion. For that matter, I know a number of liberals that think the earth is flat and that a giant mother ship is in space above us, in fact, that seems to be the predominent belief of progressives.

  17. captainfish says:

David, you had me at evolution….
but, we can agree on so much many more things.

For the ice news, see Anthony Watts summarized analysis of the ACTUAL data from the ice scientists here.

  18. David says:

The other thing on the temperature this year, aren’t we in the process of exceptional sun spot activity and that the temperature on Mars is the hotest that is has been?

  19. captainfish says:

True, except the exceptional part of the sun spots is in their absence.
Better invest in hot chocolate stocks.

  20. John Ryan says:

Sunspots indicate periods of LOW activity. The Sun is in a dim period. As far as hotchocolate helping, weel women always seem to like it. BUT regardless of what anyone can point to in small areas and Britain is pretty small the Earth is getting warmer.Arctic ice which is still shrinking will probably rank 33 or # 4 smallest over the past 30+ years. But because it is not #1 some will claim a victory for the deniers. But will be laughed at for their analysis

  21. captainfish says:

    Quote:
    “…rank 33 or # 4 smallest over the past 30+ years.”

So, you agree that this is only for 30+years. Right? So, how can people say that this is the worst ever? How can they say that 2007 is the worst ever?

Could it be that there were real times when there were no ice at all on the poles? And if so, why?

Could it be that there was ice from pole to pole across the earth? And if so, why?

  22. David says:

    John,
I hate to tell you this buy some of us are fairly intelligent and went to school beyond college. Sun spot activity is not associated with diming of the sun. It is associated with very unstable periods and a hotter environment. Their is speculation as to whether our satellite grid will hold up. Another problem with the warmers is that their data seems to keep getting messed up. Now the artic ice reduction has to be adjusted as someone forgot how to calculate it. Then there is the fact that much of the diminished ice is in Greenland. I don’t have anything against Greenland but there happens to be an active volcano or two under the ice that is influencing the environment. But that is likely secondary to CO2 as well.

  23. Otter says:

Recent work shows that the Antarctic and Greenland are melting at half the rate originally indicated.

Other recent work indicates that there was LESS ice in the north polar regions 6-7000 years ago.

As per usual, ‘lil LIAR, use Google to find the articles I am referring to. Unless you fear the truth.

  24. captainfish says:

    Quote:
“there was LESS ice in the north polar regions 6-7000 years ago.”

I read that article too Otter, and didn’t it mention that they believed that the N. Pole could have been ice free during that time, then iced up again 4500 years ago, then ice free again later, then iced over again… wash, rinse, repeat.

    I sensing a trend.

Or, could we call it a cycle.
