Boehner on Speaker Pelosi’s National Energy Tax: “I Have Never Seen Anything This Ridiculous”

Time and time again, I and others have pointed out that the whole anthropogenic global warming silliness is not about “saving the planet from mankind,” but about control. People might have believed in it a bit more if the people who pushed it the hardest weren’t the worst CO2 offenders, but, regardless, let’s ask John Boehner

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today released a new chart underscoring the bureaucratic nightmare that is Speaker Pelosi’s national energy tax. The chart highlights the slew of new government programs Democrats will create in order to take and redistribute trillions of dollars from family budgets and workers payrolls in the form of allowances – all overseen by a confusing web of government agencies.

(Full size here)

“If you look at this chart, this is how this process will work. With the EPA being in the middle, look at all of these different agencies that are involved. This is the most elaborate thing that I have seen and you know, I have been here a while and I’ve seen some pretty crazy things, but I have never seen anything this ridiculous.”

Look at the chart. Think that is going to provide massive control of your individual lives, in violation of the 9th Amendment? And, think it won’t raise your costs? We have heard anywhere from $175 to $3,000 more coming out of your pocket per year. How much will it be? No one really knows, because no one in Congress has read the bill, which has balloon up to well over a thousand pages. (pork pork pork pork pork)

And, you know what, True Believers? We do not care if George W. Bush started pushing AGW near the end of his term (funny that all of a sudden you thought he was great.) He was wrong.

The depiction of how Speaker Pelosi’s national energy tax will work is bad enough.  But its consequences for families and small businesses across the country are even worse.  The tax – which may come up for a House vote tomorrow – will be forced upon anyone who drives a car, buys an American-made product, or flips on a light switch.  As a result, it will drive up energy costs, send millions of jobs to countries like China and India who do not have national energy taxes of their own, and place an especially heavy burden on rural America.  Democratic leaders have been scrambling to round up votes for the legislation, and they initially called in former Vice President Gore to help.  But at the last minute, they told him to stay home, realizing that rural Democrats who are already in a difficult situation because of this painful vote would rather not be associated with the former Vice President and other left-swing special interests.

I do think Boehner is missing a chance to discuss how much the cap and tax bill will put more controls on people’s lives, but, then, the Credentialed Media rarely bothers to cover the other side of the debate, focusing solely on “mankind is at fault OMG we’re all gonNA DIE!” before the big shots jump in their limo’s for a trip to a nice Manhattan cocktail party.

Related, Jeff Lyash, outgoing head of Progress Energy Florida, states that the cap and tax bill could raise consumer costs 20 to 50% over the next 15 years.

Over to the insane side, Climate Progress’ Joe Romm says that ALL, GOT THAT, ALL droughts, hellish droughts!!!! from now on will be warm weather droughts unless we Do Something. Then he got in his SUV for a cocktail party (I have no idea if he has one, but, that seems to be the trend among True Believers), and whined about how AGW lost Tiger this years U.S. Open.

And just to put a fine point on the whole thing

For instance, the government would impose new buildings standards and require some household items to use less energy than they do now. These items include backyard spas, lamps located above art work, drinking-water dispensers and light bulbs in outdoor light fixtures.

Control.

More: Michelle Malkin is all over the voting today, and also provides a glimpse of what will happen if cap and tax passes.

Even Greenpeace is against the bill.

The House of Representatives has just voted to destroy this country. Idiots who believe in man caused globel warming, really are not bright or educated in science, they believe in feelings and not facts. There should be a IQ test for the right to vote. A 68 year old educated veteran.

OMFG!! This is a nightmare. I guess these idiots think they will stay in power forever. Oh and lets be sure to push this through quickly so we can go on vacation! The voters don’t care if they are taxed for breathing out carbon dioxide.
There is no global warming. Methane is caused by every living thing on this planet. And these gases form the atmosphere… etc. etc… Welcome Comrades to the Socialist States of America!
